ਬਿਸਨਸਿਖ੍ਯਰਾਜਾਜੂਰਹਈ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਸਕ ਸੀ।
ਹਰਿਹਰਿਸਦਾਬਕਤ੍ਰਤੇਕਹਈ॥
ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ 'ਹਰਿ-ਹਰਿ' ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Raja worshipped god Vishnu and always reflected on his appellation.
ਸਿਵਕੌਨੈਕਨਮਨਮੈਲ੍ਯਾਵੈ॥
ਉਹ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਸਦਾਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਦੇਗੀਤਨਗਾਵੈ॥੨॥
ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ (ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ) ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
He would never recollect Shiva and continuously recounted the praises of Krishna.(2)
ਰਾਨੀਸੋਇਹਭਾਤਿਉਚਾਰੈ॥
ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ
ਤੈਸਿਵਸਿਵਕਾਹੇਕੌਬਿਚਾਰੈ॥
ਕਿ ਤੂੰ 'ਸ਼ਿਵ ਸ਼ਿਵ' ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈਂ।
He reprimanded Rani as well why did she think of Shiva so much.
ਚਮਤਕਾਰਯਾਮੈਕਛੁਨਾਹੀ॥
ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਯੌਆਵਤਮੋਰੇਮਨਮਾਹੀ॥੩॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
‘My mind is convinced that he has no celestial powers.’(3)
ਚਮਤਕਾਰਸਿਵਤੁਮੈਬਤਾਊਾਂ॥
(ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂ
ਤੋਤੁਮਕੋਇਹਮਾਰਗਲ੍ਯਾਊਂ॥
ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਧਰਮ ਮਾਰਗ ਉਤੇ ਲੈ ਆਵਾਂ।
(Her reply) ‘I will show you the miraculous power of Shiva and then you will be convinced.
ਤੈਸਿਵਕੋਕਛੁਚਰਿਤਨਜਾਨੋ॥
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੇ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
ਧਨਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਤੇਭਯੋਦਿਵਾਨੋ॥੪॥
ਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਹੱਲ ('ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦ') ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ॥੪॥
‘You don’t realize the Chritars of Shiva, as you are just confined to your palaces and treasure.(4)

ਪ੍ਰਥਮਤ੍ਰਿਪੁਰਕੌਘਾਇਰੁਦ੍ਰਤ੍ਰਿਪੁਰਾਰਿਕਹਾਯੋ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪੁਰ (ਦੈਂਤ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ 'ਤ੍ਰਿਪੁਰਾਰਿ' ਅਖਵਾਇਆ।
‘Primarily Shiva killed the Devil Tripur and was honoured as Tripukiller.
ਗੰਗਜਟਨਮੈਧਾਰਿਗੰਗਧਰਨਾਮਸੁਹਾਯੋ॥
ਗੰਗਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਟਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ 'ਗੰਗਧਰ' ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਸ਼ੋਭਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ।
Then, with tresses imbued in colours, he earned the admirations as god Gandharabh.
ਜਟਾਜੂਟਕੌਧਾਰਿਜਟੀਨਾਮਾਸਦਸੋਹੈ॥
ਜਟਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੂੜਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ 'ਜਟੀ' ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ।
With the tresses as such he was worthy of being called god of Jatty.
ਖਗਮ੍ਰਿਗਜਛਭੁਜੰਗਅਸੁਰਸੁਰਨਰਮੁਨਿਮੋਹੈ॥
ਪੰਛੀਆਂ, ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ, ਯਕਸ਼ਾਂ, ਭੁਜੰਗਾਂ, ਦੈਂਤਾਂ, ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ, ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਨੀਆਂ (ਦੇ ਮਨ) ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Animals, birds, Jachh, Bhujang, the gods, the evils, men, women and sages, all became fond of him.
ਕਰੀਪਾਰਬਤੀਨਾਰਿਪਾਰਬਤੀਸ੍ਵਰਸਭਜਾਨੈ॥
ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਰਬਤੀਸ੍ਵਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
Being married to Parbati he is addressed as Parbati-spouse as well.
ਕਹਾਮੂੜਤੈਰਾਵਭੇਦਤਾਕੌਪਹਿਚਾਨੇ॥੫॥
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਰਾਜੇ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੫॥
But, you, Oh Foolish Raja, cannot comprehend such mysteries.(5)

ਚਮਤਕਾਰਤੋਕੌਤੁਰਤੁਪ੍ਰਥਮੈਦੇਊਦਿਖਾਇ॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਤੁਰਤ ਵਿਖਾਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
‘First I will show you Shiva’s miracle,
ਬਹੁਰਿਸਿਖ੍ਯਸਿਵਕੋਕਰੌਯਾਮਾਰਗਮੈਲ੍ਯਾਇ॥੬॥
ਫਿਰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਰਗ ਤੇ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੬॥
‘And then I will put you on his righteous path.’(6)

ਸੋਇਗਯੋਤਬਪਤਿਹਿਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
ਤੁਰਤਖਾਟਤੇਪਕਰਿਪਛਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮੰਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When he was sleeping, she jumped over and swiftly turned over his bed.
ਸਿਵਸਿਵਸਿਵਆਪਨਤਬਕੀਨੋ॥
(ਉਹ) ਤਦ ਆਪ ਸ਼ਿਵ, ਸ਼ਿਵ, ਸ਼ਿਵ ਕਰਨ ਲਗ ਗਈ,
ਕਛੂਰਾਵਯਹਭੇਦਨਚੀਨੋ॥੭॥
ਪਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਭੇਦ ਨਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ॥੭॥
And continuously orated, Shiva, Shiva, Shiva but Raja could not perceive the enigma.(7)
ਕਿਨਧੈਕੈਮੋਕੌਪਟਕਾਯੋ॥
ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧੱਕਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪਟਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ
ਰਾਨੀਮੈਯਹਕਛੂਨਪਾਯੋ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਣੀ! ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਿਆ।
(He said) ‘Some body has toppled over my bed, and, Rani, I could not discern.’
ਸਕਲਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਤੁਮਹਮੈਸੁਨਾਵੋ॥
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਿਥਿਆ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਸੋ
ਹਮਰੇਚਿਤਕੋਤਾਪਮਿਟਾਵੋ॥੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ ॥੮॥
(Rani) ‘Please tell me in details and open up your mind.(8)
ਕਛੂਰੁਦ੍ਰਤੁਮਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੇ॥
(ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ਤੁਸੀਂ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕੁਝ (ਮਾੜੇ) ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ਹੋਣੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਬਊਪਰਸਿਵਕੁਪਿਯੋਤਿਹਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
‘You must have spoken badly about Shiva and, now, you are facing Shiva’s wrath.
ਚਮਤਕਾਰਯਹਤੁਮੈਦਿਖਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਇਹ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਪਟਕਿਖਾਟਤੇਭੂਮਿਗਿਰਾਯੋ॥੯॥
ਮੰਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਭੂਮੀ ਉਤੇ ਪਟਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
‘He has shown you his miracle by knocking you down the bed.’(9)
ਸੁਨਤਬਚਨਮੂਰਖਅਤਿਡਰਿਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ।
ਤਾਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਪਾਇਨਉਠਿਪਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਠ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ।
Learning this, the foolish Raja dreaded and fell upon the feet of the woman.
ਬਿਸਨਜਾਪਅਬਤੇਮੈਤ੍ਯਾਗਿਯੋ॥
(ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ) ਮੈਂ ਅਜ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
ਸਿਵਜੂਕੇਪਾਇਨਸੌਲਾਗਿਯੋ॥੧੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੦॥
‘I abandon the meditation upon Vishnu and will, from now on, remain attached to the feet of Shiva.(10)
ਚਮਤਕਾਰਸਿਵਮੋਹਿਦਿਖਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਤੇਚਰਨਆਪਨੇਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
‘Shiva has shown me the marvel and has given me sanctuary under his feet.
ਅਬਚੇਰੋਤਾਕੋਮੈਭਯੋ॥
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਬਿਸਨਜਾਪਤਬਤੇਤਜਿਦਯੋ॥੧੧॥
ਤਦ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ) ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
‘I have become his disciple and I forswear the deliberations of Vishnu for ever.’(11)

ਪਲਕਾਪਰਤੇਰਾਨਿਯਹਿਸੋਤਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਕੋਡਾਰਿ॥
ਪਲੰਘ ਉਤੇ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਥਲੇ ਸੁਟ ਕੇ
By toppling over the bed on which Raja was sleeping,
ਸਿਖ੍ਯਤੁਰਤੁਸਿਵਕੋਕਿਯੋਐਸੋਚਰਿਤਸੁਧਾਰਿ॥੧੨॥
ਤੁਰਤ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧੨॥
Through this manoeuvre, Rani turned Raja into a devotee of Shiva.(12)(1)

ਪਰਬਤੇਸਰਾਜਾਇਕਭਾਰੋ॥
ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਪਰਬਤੇਸ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ।
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਬੰਸਚੰਦ੍ਰੋਤੁਜਿਯਾਰੋ॥
(ਉਸ) ਚੰਦ੍ਰਬੰਸੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸੀ।
Up in the lofty mountains there was one Raja who belonged to Chandrabansi clan.
ਭਾਗਮਤੀਤਾਕੀਬਰਨਾਰੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਾਗਮਤੀ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੀ।
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਲਈਜਾਤੇਉਜਿਯਾਰੀ॥੧॥
(ਜੋ ਇਤਨੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੀ ਕਿ) ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਜੋਤਿ ਲਈ (ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ) ਸੀ ॥੧॥
Bhaag Mati was his wife, and it seemed she had stolen radiance from the Moon.(1)

ਸੁਨਾਧਾਮਤਾਕੋਬਡੋਧੁਜਾਰਹੀਫਹਰਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਹੱਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਸੁਣੀਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਧੁਜਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
It is heard that he had a very big palace and a flag always remained hoisted there.
ਸਾਚਸ੍ਵਰਗਸੋਜਾਨਿਯੋਧੌਲਰਲਖ੍ਯੋਨਜਾਇ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਚਮੁਚ ਸਵਰਗ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਹੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥
That splendid palace could not be overlooked and it was an epitome of heaven.(2)

ਦੇਬਿਦਤਰਾਨਿਯਹਿਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਇਕ ਵਾਰ) ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਬਿਦੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
ਜਨੁਕਰੂਪਕੀਰਾਸਿਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੂਪ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
When the Rani saw Deb Datt, she felt as if she had come across a treasure of splendour.
ਪਠੈਸਹਚਰੀਬੋਲਿਸੁਲੀਨੋ॥
ਸਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ
ਕਾਮਕੇਲਤਾਸੌਅਤਿਕੀਨੋ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਾਮਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੩॥
She sent her maid and called him over and made love with him.(3)
ਬੀਰਦੇਵਰਾਜਾਸੁਨਿਪਾਵਾ॥
ਬੀਰਦੇਵ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ
ਕੋਊਜਾਰਹਮਾਰੇਆਵਾ॥
ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ (ਮਹੱਲ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਯਾਰ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ) ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।
When Raja Bir Dev heard that a paramour had come to his place,
ਅਧਿਕਕੋਪਨ੍ਰਿਪਖੜਗਉਚਾਯੋ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਚੁਕ ਲਈ
ਪਲਕਨਬੀਤੀਤਹਚਲਿਆਯੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਪਲਕਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਉਥੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥
He was enraged, he unsheathed his sword and, instantly, reached the place.(4)
ਭਾਗਵਤੀਜਬਨ੍ਰਿਪਲਖਿਲੀਨੋ॥
ਭਾਗਵਤੀ ਨੇ ਜਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ
ਤਾਹਿਚੜਾਇਮਹਲਪਰਦੀਨੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ (ਯਾਰ) ਨੂੰ ਮਹੱਲ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When Bhaag Mati saw the Raja, she sent him (the friend) upstairs of the palace.
ਟਰਿਆਗੇਨਿਜੁਪਤਿਕੌਲਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਗੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ
ਬਹੁਤਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਸਮਾਗਮਕਿਯੋ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੫॥
She went forward, stopped him (the Raja) and invariably intimated with him.(5)

(ਭਾਗਵਤੀ ਨੇ) ਰੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰਤ ਇਕ ਸਦਨ (ਘਰ, ਕਮਰਾ) ਭਰ ਲਿਆ
She had a room completely filled with cotton.
ਆਜਚੋਰਇਕਮੈਗਹਿਯੋਯੌਨ੍ਰਿਪਸੌਕਹਿਦੀਨ॥੬॥
