ਤੁਰਤੁਏਕਤਹਸਖੀਪਠਾਈ॥੧੭॥
ਤਾਂ ਝਟ ਇਕ ਸਖੀ ਉਸ ਪਾਸ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੧੭॥

ਸੁਨੋਮਿਤ੍ਰਬਿਨੁਨਿਸਿਭਈਹ੍ਯਾਂਨਪਹੂਚਹੁਆਇ॥
ਹੇ ਮਿਤਰ! ਰਾਤ ਪਏ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ।
‘Listen my friend; don’t come here before the night falls.
ਜਿਨਕੋਊਸੋਧਿਪਛਾਨਿਕੈਤਿਨਪ੍ਰਤਿਕਹੈਨਜਾਇ॥੧੮॥
ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਲਭ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਛਾਣ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਬਰਾਤੀਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਕਹਿ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧੮॥
‘Some body may recognise you and may go to tell my parents.(18)

ਬਹੁਰਿਸਖੀਤਿਹਆਨਿਜਤਾਯੋ॥
ਫਿਰ ਸਖੀ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਬੈਠਿਬਾਗਮੈਦਿਵਸਬਿਤਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਿਆ।
The friend came, made him to understand and then by sitting in the garden, he spent the day.
ਸੂਰਜਛਪਿਯੋਰੈਨਿਜਬਭਈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਡੁਬਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ
ਬਾਟਗਾਵਤਾਕੇਕੀਲਈ॥੧੯॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਫੜਿਆ ॥੧੯॥
When the Sun was set, it became dark, he took to his way to her village.(19)
ਰੈਨਿਭਈਤਾਕੇਤਬਗਯੋ॥
ਰਾਤ ਪਈ, ਤਾਂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ
ਡਾਰਤਬਾਜਪ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਤਿਹਭਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੀ ਪਿਠ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਲਿਆ।
When it was total dark, he went to her and took her on the back of his horse.
ਹਰਿਤਾਕੋਦੇਸੌਰਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਲ ਚਲ ਪਿਆ।
ਜੋਪਹੁਚਿਯੋਤਾਕੋਸਰਮਾਰਿਯੋ॥੨੦॥
ਜੋ ਵੀ (ਪਿਛਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੦॥
After taking her away he started to go to another country and who so ever followed he killed him with the arrows.(20)
ਰੈਨਿਸਕਲਤਾਕੋਲੈਗਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ (ਘੋੜੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਰਖਿਆ)
ਉਤਰਤਚੜੇਦਿਵਸਕੇਭਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਤਰਿਆ।
He kept on travelling whole night and when day broke he dismounted.
ਥੋਸੁਕੁਮਾਰਅਧਿਕਤਨਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਅਜੇ ਸੋਹਲ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਥਕ ਗਿਆ
Himself he was tired and he was carrying with him Sahiban as well,
ਔਰਸਾਹਿਬਾਸਾਥਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥੨੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਗਾ ॥੨੧॥
He felt exhausted and went to sleep and, on the other side, her all the relatives realised.(21)
ਸ੍ਰਮਤਭਯੋਤਹਕਛੁਸ੍ਵੈਰਹਿਯੋ॥
ਥਕ ਜਾਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਸੌਂ ਗਿਆ।
ਤਬਲੌਸਭਸਮਧਿਨਸੁਨਿਲਯੋ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ (ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਿਆ।
ਚੜੇਤੁਰੈਸਭਸੂਰਰਿਸਾਏ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪਏ।
ਬਾਧੇਗੋਲਤਹਾਕਹਧਾਏ॥੨੨॥
ਦਲ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਧਰ ਵਲ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ॥੨੨॥
Infuriated, they set up teams and marched tOwards that direction.(22)
ਤਬਸਾਹਿਬਾਦ੍ਰਿਗਛੋਰਿਨਿਹਾਰਾ॥
ਤਦ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਖ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਤਕਿਆ
ਹੇਰੈਚਹੂੰਓਰਅਸਵਾਰਾ॥
ਤਾਂ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਵੇਖੇ।
When Sahiban opened her eyes, she saw the riders on all sides.
ਸੰਗਭਾਈਦੋਊਤਾਹਿਨਿਹਾਰੇ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋ ਭਰਾ ਵੀ ਵੇਖੇ
ਕਰੁਣਾਬਹੇਨੈਨਕਜਰਾਰੇ॥੨੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਜਲਾਖੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਗ ਪਈਆਂ ॥੨੩॥
With them, when she saw her two brothers, she could not help her tears.(23)
ਜੌਹਮਰੇਪਤਿਇਨੇਨਿਹਰਿਹੈ॥
ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ (ਮਿਰਜ਼ਾ) ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਦੋਹਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੇਗਾ
ਦੁਹੂੰਬਾਨਦੁਹੂਅਨੰਕਹਹਰਿਹੈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਦੋ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
‘If my husband saw them, he will kill them both with two arrows.
ਤਾਤੇਕਛੂਜਤਨਅਬਕੀਜੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਾਤੇਰਾਖਿਭਾਇਯਨਲੀਜੈ॥੨੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਭਰਾ ਬਚਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ॥੨੪॥
‘Something must be done, so that my brothers are spared.’(24)
ਸੋਵਤਹੁਤੋਮੀਤਨਜਗਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਿਤਰ (ਮਿਰਜ਼ੇ) ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਜਗਾਇਆ
ਜਾਡਭਏਤਰਕਸਅਟਕਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਤਰਕਸ (ਭੱਥਾ) ਟੰਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
She did not wake her friend up but took his quiver and hung it Over the tree.
ਔਰਸਸਤ੍ਰਲੈਕਹੂੰਦੁਰਾਏ॥
ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਲੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਖੋਜੇਹੁਤੇਜਾਤਨਹਿਪਾਏ॥੨੫॥
ਖੋਜਣ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਲਭੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੨੫॥
Also she hid away his other weapons so that he could not find them.(25)
ਤਬਲੌਆਇਸੂਰਸਭਗਏ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਆ ਗਏ
ਮਾਰੋਮਾਰਪੁਕਾਰਤਭਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰੋ-ਮਾਰੋ ਪੁਕਾਰਨ ਲਗੇ।
In the meantime, all the gallant ones came and shoUted ‘kill him, kill him’.
ਤਬਮਿਰਜਾਜੂਨੈਨਉਘਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦ ਮਿਰਜ਼ੇ ਨੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ (ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਲਗਾ)
ਕਹਾਗਏਹਥਿਯਾਰਹਮਾਰੇ॥੨੬॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਕਿਥੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੨੬॥
Then Mirza opened his eyes and asked where were his weapons.(26)
ਭੌਡੀਰਾਡਕਹਿਯੋਕ੍ਯਾਕਰਿਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ, ਹੇ ਨੀਚ ਔਰਤ! (ਇਹ ਤੂੰ) ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਰਕਸਟਾਗਿਜਾਡਪੈਧਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ) ਤਰਕਸ ਜੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਟੰਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
‘Oh, you the mean woman, why have you. done this and hung my quiver on the tree?
ਪਹੁਚੇਆਨਿਪਖਰਿਯਾਭਾਰੇ॥
ਤਕੜੇ ਘੋੜ-ਸਵਾਰ ਆਣ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਹਾਧਰੇਤੇਸਸਤ੍ਰਹਮਾਰੇ॥੨੭॥
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਕਿਥੇ ਧਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੭॥
‘The riders have come nearer, where have you put my weapons?(27)
ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨਬਿਨਾਕਹੋਕਿਹਮਾਰੋ॥
ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦਸ ਕਿ (ਮੈਂ) ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਰਾਂ
ਕਹੁਨਾਰੀਕ੍ਯਾਮੰਤ੍ਰਬਿਚਾਰੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ! ਕੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਾਂ?
‘Say something woman, withoUt weapons, how can kill them?
ਸਾਥੀਕੋਊਸੰਗਮੈਨਾਹੀ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਚਿੰਤਾਅਧਿਕਇਹੈਚਿਤਮਾਹੀ॥੨੮॥
ਇਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੮॥
‘Afraid, I have no friend of mine with me.’(28)
ਹੇਰਰਹਿਯੋਆਯੁਧਨਹਿਪਾਏ॥
ਲਭ ਥਕਿਆ, (ਪਰ ਕਿਤੇ) ਹਥਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇ।
ਤਬਲਗਘੇਰਦੁਬਹਿਯਾਆਏ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਸਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ।
In spite of searching hard, he could not find his weapons;
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਬਾਜਪ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਪਰਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੇ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੀ ਪਿਠ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਟਿਆ
