ਉਪਸੁੰਦ ('ਅਪਸੁੰਦ') ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ (ਵਿਆਹ) ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
Sandh said, ‘I will marry you,’ but Apsandh stressed, ‘No, I espouse you.’
ਰਾਰਿਪਰੀਦੁਹੂੰਅਨਮੈਭਾਰੀ॥
ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਝਗੜਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਬਿਚਰੇਸੂਰਬੀਰਹੰਕਾਰੀ॥੧੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਲੜਾਈ ਲਈ) ਡਟ ਗਏ ॥੧੨॥
The dispute was ensued among them and they started to fight.(12)

ਪਰਿਯੋਲੋਹਗਾੜੋਮਹਾਬੀਰਮਾਡੇ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਤਕੜਾ ਯੁੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ, ਵੱਡੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁਟ ਗਏ।
A great fight followed and powerful warriors confronted each other.
ਝੁਕੇਆਨਿਚਾਰੋਦਿਸਾਕਾਢਿਖਾਡੇ॥
(ਉਹ) ਖੰਡੇ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆ ਪਏ।
From all four sides they converged.
ਛਕੇਛੋਭਛਤ੍ਰੀਮਹਾਘਾਇਮੇਲੈ॥
ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਾਓ ਲਗਾਏ
Furiously, many Kashatris inflicted injuries.
ਕਿਤੇਢਾਲਿਤਿਰਸੂਲਖਗਾਨਖੇਲੈ॥੧੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ ਢਾਲਾਂ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡਣ ਲਗੇ ॥੧੩॥
The shields and the spears dominated everywhere.(13)

ਬਾਜਨਬਜੇਅਨੇਕਸੁਭਟਸਭੈਹਰਖਤਭਏ॥
ਅਨੇਕ ਮਾਰੂ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਬਚਿਆ, ਕਾਲ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਚਬ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੪॥

ਜੰਗੀ ਨਗਾਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਵਜਣ ਨਾਲ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ (ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ) ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਲੜਨ ਲਗੇ।
As soon as the music of death rolled, the dauntless ones faced each other.
ਗਜੇਸੁੰਦਅਪਸੁੰਦਤਬਢੋਲਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗਬਜਾਇ॥੧੫॥
ਤਦ ਢੋਲ ਅਤੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੁੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਸੁੰਦ ਗੱਜਣ ਲਗੇ ॥੧੫॥
In the accompaniment of the drums, Sandh and Apsandh roared.(15)

ਦੂਜੀ ਮਾਰ ਬਰਛੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ।
Primarily the arrows dominated, then the spears sparkled.
ਤ੍ਰਿਤਿਯਜੁਧਤਰਵਾਰਿਨਪਰਿਯੋ॥
ਤੀਜਾ ਯੁੱਧ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਚੌਥੋਭੇਰਕਟਾਰਿਨਕਰਿਯੋ॥੧੬॥
ਚੌਥਾ ਭੇੜ ਕਟਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੧੬॥
Then the swords and then the daggers glittered.(16)

Then came the turn of the boxing, and the hands swung like steel.
ਊਚਨੀਚਕਾਤਰਸੁਭਟਸਭਕੀਨੇਇਕਸਾਰ॥੧੭॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ, ਬਹਾਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਰਪੋਕ ਸਭ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੧੭॥
The strong, the weak, the brave and the coward were becoming indistinguishable.( 17)
ਬਜ੍ਰਬਾਨਬਰਛਾਬਿਛੂਆਬਰਖੇਬਿਸਿਖਅਨੇਕ॥
ਬਜ੍ਰ-ਬਾਣ, ਬਰਛੇ, ਬਿਛੂਏ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੀਰ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ
ਊਚਨੀਚਕਾਤਰਸੁਭਟਜਿਯਤਨਉਬਰਿਯੋਏਕ॥੧੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ, ਡਰਪੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਜੀਵਿਤ ਨਾ ਬਚ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੧੮॥

ਗਾੜਪਰੀਇਹਭਾਤਿਤਹਾਇਤਸੁੰਦਉਤੇਅਪਸੁੰਦਹਕਾਰੋ॥
ਉਥੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਠਭੇੜ ਹੋਈ, ਇਧਰ ਸੁੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਉਪਸੁੰਦ ਨੇ ਲਲਕਾਰੇ ਮਾਰੇ।
The stampede was heightened as Sandh on the one side and Apsandh on the other stormed.
ਪਟਿਸਿਲੋਹਹਥੀਪਰਸੇਅਮਿਤਾਯੁਧਲੈਕਰਕੋਪਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ॥
ਪਟੇ, ਲੋਹ-ਹੱਥੀ, ਫਰਸੇ ਆਦਿ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ (ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਤੇ) ਵਾਰ ਕੀਤੇ।
In great furry they raided each other with various arms.
ਰਾਜਪਰੇਕਹੂੰਤਾਜਹਿਰੇਤਰਫੈਕਹੂੰਬੀਰਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਨਮਾਰੇ॥
ਕਿਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ, ਕਿਤੇ ਤਾਜ ਡਿਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਤੜਪ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Dead Rajas along with their crowns were found lying down.
ਆਪਸਮੈਲਰਿਬੀਰਦੋਊਬਸਿਕਾਲਭਏਕਰਤਾਰਸੰਘਾਰੇ॥੧੯॥
ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਵਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਘਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੯॥
Punished by the Creator, the fighters from both sides had taken shelter under Kaal, the god of death.(19)

ਆਪਸਬੀਚਬੀਰਲਰਿਮਰੇ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਲੜ ਮੋਏ
ਬਜ੍ਰਬਾਨਬਿਛੂਅਨਬ੍ਰਿਨਕਰੇ॥
ਬਜ੍ਰ-ਬਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਛੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ।
The intrepid fought among themselves and were killed with the arrows as hard as stones.
ਫੂਲਅਨੇਕਮੇਘਜ੍ਯੋਬਰਖੇ॥
(ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ) ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਦਲ ਵਾਂਗ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੋਣ ਲਗੀ
ਦੇਵਰਾਜਦੇਵਨਜੁਤਹਰਖੇ॥੨੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਸਹਿਤ ਇੰਦਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੨੦॥
The flowers started to pour from the heaven and the celestial gods felt the sighs of relief.(20)

After annihilating both the brothers, the woman left for Godly domain,
ਜੈਜੈਕਾਰਅਪਾਰਹੂਅਹਰਖੇਮਨਸੁਰਰਾਇ॥੨੧॥
(ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਅਪਾਰ ਜੈ ਜੈਕਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਲਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਦਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਏ ॥੨੧॥
Gratitude were showered from everywhere and Devraj, the Almighty, was much appeased.(21)(1)

ਦੇਵਰਾਜਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੋਮਗੁਲੀਨੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਫੜਿਆ।
When the devils indulged in war, Devraj went to Indra’s house.
ਕਮਲਨਾਲਿਭੀਤਰਛਪਿਰਹਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਹ) ਕਮਲ-ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਕ ਗਿਆ
ਸਚਿਯਹਿਆਦਿਕਿਸੂਨਹਿਲਹਿਯੋ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਚੀ ਆਦਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਲਭਿਆ ॥੧॥
He (Indra) hid himself in the stem of the Sun-flower, and neither Sachee nor anybody else could see him(1)
ਬਾਸਵਕੌਖੋਜਨਸਭਲਾਗੇ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ('ਬਾਸਵ') ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਖੋਜਣ ਲਗੇ
ਸਚੀਸਮੇਤਅਸੰਖਨੁਰਾਗੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਚੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਅਸੰਖਾਂ (ਲੋਗ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ (ਬੇਹਬਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ)।
All, including Sachee, became apprehensive,
ਢੂੰਢਿਫਿਰੇਕਾਹੂੰਨਹਿਪਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਹ) ਸਾਰੇ ਲਭਦੇ ਫਿਰੇ, ਪਰ ਕਿਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਲਭਿਆ।
ਦੇਵਨਅਮਿਤਸੋਕਉਪਜਾਯੋ॥੨॥
ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖ ਹੋਣ ਲਗਾ ॥੨॥
As, in spite of searching, he could not be found.(2)
