ਪਾਇਬ੍ਰਤੋਤਮਕੌਤਰੁਨੀਤਨਸੋਕਨਿਵਾਰਿਅਸੋਕੁਪਜਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਉੱਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਤਧਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਦੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
After winning over the sage the woman eradicated her tribulations.
ਭਾਤਿਅਨੇਕਬਿਹਾਰਤਸੁੰਦਰਸਾਤਸੁਤਾਖਟਪੂਤੁਪਜਾਯੋ॥
ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ) ਵਿਚਰਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਛੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
By making love invariably she gave birth to seven boys and six daughters.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗਦਯੇਬਨਕੋਬਸਿਬੋਪੁਰਭੀਤਰਕੋਬਸਿਯੋਮਨਭਾਯੋ॥੨੦॥
ਉਸ ਤਪਸਵੀ ਨੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਦਾ ਵਾਸਾ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਣ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥੨੦॥
Then she decided to abdicate the jungle-life and to come and live in the city.(20)
ਏਕਮਹਾਬਨਹੈਸੁਨਿਹੋਮੁਨਿਆਜੁਚਲੈਤਹਜਾਇਬਿਹਾਰੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ) ਹੇ ਮੁਨੀ! ਸੁਣੋ! (ਇਥੇ ਨੇੜੇ) ਇਕ ਮਹਾ ਬਨ ਹੈ, ਅਜ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਉਥੇ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ।
‘Listen to me, my sage, there is one beautiful jungle, let us go there and make love.
ਫੂਲਘਨੇਫਲਰਾਜਤਸੁੰਦਰਫੂਲਿਰਹੇਜਮੁਨਾਕੇਕਿਨਾਰੈ॥
ਉਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਫੁਲ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਫਲ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਜਮਨਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹਨ।
There are a lot of fruits and fruit trees and it is situated at the banks of River Jamuna.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗਬਿਲੰਬਚਲੋਤਿਤਕੋਤੁਮਕਾਨਨਸੋਰਮਨੀਯਨਿਹਾਰੈ॥
ਬਿਨਾ ਦੇਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਥੇ ਚਲੋ, (ਉਹ ਇਸ) ਬਨ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
Abandoning this jungle, you must go there because that is much more captivating.
ਕੇਲਕਰੈਮਿਲਿਆਪਸਮੈਦੋਊਕੰਦ੍ਰਪਕੌਸਭਦ੍ਰਪਨਿਵਾਰੈ॥੨੧॥
ਉਥੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਘਮੰਡ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ॥੨੧॥
We will go there, make-love and rend the ego of the Cupid.(21)
ਕਾਨਨਜੇਤਿਕਥੇਤਿਹਦੇਸਸਭੈਅਥਿਤੇਸਕੋਬਾਲਦਿਖਾਏ॥
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਬਨ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਯੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਏ।
ਕਾਖਤੇਕੰਕਨਕੁੰਡਲਕਾਢਿਜਰਾਵਕਿਜੇਬਜਰੇਪਹਿਰਾਏ॥
(ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਪੋਟਲੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੰਗਣ, ਕੁੰਡਲ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੜਾਊ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਕਢ ਕੇ (ਯੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ!) ਪਵਾਏ।
ਮੋਹਿਰਹਿਯੋਤਿਹਕੌਲਖਿਕੈਮੁਨਿਜੋਗਕੈਨ੍ਯਾਸਸਭੈਬਿਸਰਾਏ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤਾਂ ਭੁਲ ਗਿਆ।
ਕਾਹੂੰਪ੍ਰਬੋਧਕਿਯੋਨਹਿਤਾਕਹਆਪਨਹੀਗ੍ਰਿਹਮੈਮੁਨਿਆਏ॥੨੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮੁਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੨॥

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਤ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਗੇ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਿਆ।
She asked their seven daughters to walk ahead and picked three sons in her lap.
ਇਕਕਾਧੇਇਕਕਾਖਮੈਖਸਟਮਮੁਨਿਸਿਰਦੀਨ॥੨੩॥
(ਬਾਕੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਇਕ ਮੋਢੇ ਉਤੇ, ਇਕ ਕੁਛੜ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਮੁਨੀ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਬਿਠਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੩॥
She took two sons on her own shoulders and remaining two she made the sage to pick up.(23)

ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਆਣਾ ਸੁਣਿਆ
ਜਨਪੂਜਨਤਾਹਿਚਲੇਸਭਹੀ॥
ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ।
When the people heard about the arrival of the sage, they all swarmed to worship him.
ਚਿਤਭਾਤਹਿਭਾਤਿਅਨੰਦਿਤਹ੍ਵੈ॥
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਨਾਲ ਆਨੰਦਿਤ ਹਨ
ਬ੍ਰਿਧਬਾਲਨਜ੍ਵਾਨਰਹਿਯੋਘਰਕ੍ਵੈ॥੨੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਿਰਧ, ਬਾਲ, ਜਵਾਨ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਘਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ ॥੨੪॥
They all felt blissful and none, neither the old nor the young, remained behind.(24)
ਸਭਹੀਕਰਕੁੰਕਮਫੂਲਲੀਏ॥
ਸਭ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਕੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਫੁਲ ਲਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ
ਮੁਨਿਊਪਰਵਾਰਿਕੈਡਾਰਿਦੀਏ॥
(ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਮੁਨੀ ਉਤੇ ਵਾਰ ਸੁਟੇ ਹਨ।
They all welcomed the sage with the flowers, and sprinkled saffron.
ਲਖਿਕੈਤਿਨਕੌਰਿਖਿਯੌਹਰਖਿਯੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ
ਤਬਹੀਘਨਸਾਵਨਜ੍ਯੋਬਰਖਿਯੋ॥੨੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਸਾਵਣ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਦਲ ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਲਗ ਗਏ ॥੨੫॥
The sage was gratified, and the rain started to pour like it did in the month of Saawan.(25}

ਉਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਮੀਂਹ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਏ।
The people felt great relief with the rain,
ਭਯੋਸੁਕਾਲਦੁਕਾਲਤੇਐਸੇਚਰਿਤਨਿਹਾਰਿ॥੨੬॥
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਕਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੬॥
And the famine was turned into the period of abundance.(26)

(ਉਥੇ) ਬਦਲ ਜਿਉਂ ਹੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆ (ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਜਲ ਹੀ ਜਲ) ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਪੁਨਿਲੋਕਨਕੇਉਪਜੀਦੁਚਿਤਾਈ॥
ਫਿਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
When it kept on raining incessantly for long time, people’s minds were filled with apprehension:
ਜਬਲੌਗ੍ਰਿਹਤੇਰਿਖਿਰਾਜਨਜੈਹੈ॥
ਜਦ ਤਕ (ਨਗਰ ਦੇ) ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ-ਰਾਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ,
ਤਬਲੌਗਿਰਿਗਾਵਬਰਾਬਰਿਹ੍ਵੈਹੈ॥੨੭॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਡਿਗ ਕੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੨੭॥
Perhaps it would never stop as long as sage lived there and their houses might disintegrate into the ground.(27)
ਤਬਹੀਤਿਹਪਾਤ੍ਰਹਿਬੋਲਿਲਿਯੋ॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਤਦ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ
ਨਿਜੁਆਧਿਕਦੇਸਬਟਾਇਦਿਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਧਾ ਰਾਜ ਵੰਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then they called the prostitute and got halfthe sovereignty endowed to her.
ਪੁਨਿਤਾਹਿਕਹਿਯੋਰਿਖਿਕੌਤੁਮਟਾਰੋ॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਲੈ ਜਾਓ
ਪੁਰਬਾਸਿਨਕੋਸਭਸੋਕਨਿਵਾਰੋ॥੨੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਗਰ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ ॥੨੮॥
They requested her to take the sage away and eliminate the anxiety of the town’s inhabitants.(28)
ਸਵੈਯਾ॥
ਸਵੈਯਾ:

ਬੈਸਬਿਤੀਬਸਿਬਾਮਹੁਕੇਬਿਸੁਨਾਥਕਹੂੰਹਿਯਮੈਨਸਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਤਦ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਈ ਕਿ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਸ ਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
The woman, then, asked the sage, ‘You are spending your life under the directives of a female and never meditated on God
ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰਭਯੋਬਰਰਾਤਕਹਾਬਿਨੁਬੇਦਕੇਬਾਦਿਬਿਬਾਦਿਬਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਬੇਸੁਧ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ। ਵੇਦ ਦੇ ਵਾਦ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਬਰੜਾਉਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
‘Now you have become a burden on the earth as you have renounced even the oration of Vedas.
ਬਹਿਕੈਬਲੁਕੈਬਿਝੁਕੈਉਝਕੈਤੁਹਿਕਾਲਕੋਖ੍ਯਾਲਕਹਾਬਿਸਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕਤਾ ਵਿਚ) ਵਹਿ ਕੇ, (ਵਾਸਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਕੇ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੜ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ (ਕਰਤੱਵ ਪਥ ਤੋਂ) ਉਖੜ ਕੇ, ਤੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
‘Losing self-control you are mumbling and have abandoned the dread of Kaal, the god of death.
ਬਨਿਕੈਤਨਿਕੈਬਿਹਰੌਪੁਰਮੈਜੜਲਾਜਹਿਲਾਜਕੁਕਾਜਕਰਿਯੋ॥੨੯॥
ਤੂੰ ਬਣ ਠਣ ਕੇ, ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਘੁੰਮ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਲਾਜ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੯॥
‘Deserting the jungle and roaming around the town, you are dishonouring your reverence.’(29)

ਬਚਨਸੁਨਤਐਸੋਮੁਨਿਜਮਨਮੈਕਿਯੋਬਿਚਾਰ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
When he heard such pontificating, he pondered over,
ਤੁਰਤਬਨਹਿਪੁਰਿਛੋਰਿਕੈਉਠਿਭਾਜਿਯੋਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ॥੩੦॥
ਤੁਰਤ ਬੇਸੁਧ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਨ ਵਲ ਉਠ ਭਜਿਆ ॥੩੦॥
And immediately left the town and headed towards the jungle.(30)
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮਆਨਿਕਾਢਿਯੋਰਿਖਹਿਮੇਘਲਯੋਬਰਖਾਇ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਢ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ, (ਫਿਰ) ਬਦਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਰਖਾ ਕਰਵਾ ਲਈ
First she brought him and got the rain to pour down,
ਅਰਧਰਾਜਤਿਹਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਕੋਲੀਨੌਆਪੁਬਟਾਇ॥੩੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਧਾ ਰਾਜ ਵੰਡਵਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੩੧॥
Then made Raja to give her half the kingdom.(31)
ਸਤਟਾਰਿਯੋਤਿਹਮੁਨਿਜਕੋਅਰਧਦੇਸਕੌਪਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਮੁਨੀ ਦਾ ਸੱਤ ਭੰਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਧਾ ਦੇਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
For sake of half of the domain she ravaged the veneration of the sage,
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੇਸੁਖਕਰੇਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਹਰਖਉਪਜਾਇ॥੩੨॥
(ਫਿਰ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣੇ ॥੩੨॥
And being satiated, she provided him numerous exhilaration.(32)(1)
