ਲਾਗਤਤੀਰਬੀਰਰਿਸਿਭਰਿਯੋ॥
ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਪੁੰਨੂੰ) ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰ ਲਗਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਉਹ) ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ
ਤੁਰੈਧਵਾਇਘਾਇਤਿਹਕਰਿਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When the arrow hit him, he became furious, chased his horse, and killed him (the emissary).
ਤਾਕੋਮਾਰਿਆਪੁਪੁਨਿਮਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ
ਸੁਰਪੁਰਮਾਝਿਪਯਾਨੋਕਰਿਯੋ॥੩੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ॥੩੫॥
Being badly hurt, he breathed his last and went to the heaven.(35)

ਮਾਰਿਤਵਨਕੋਰਾਵਜੀਪਰਿਯੋਧਰਨਿਪਰਆਇ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ (ਪੁੰਨੂੰ) ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ।
After slaying, the Raja himself fell flat on the ground.
ਭ੍ਰਿਤਨਨਿਕਟਪਹੂੰਚਿਕੈਲਯੋਗਰੇਸੋਲਾਇ॥੩੬॥
ਨੌਕਰਾਂ (ਸੇਵਕਾਂ) ਨੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੩੬॥
The servants ran forward and took him in their laps.(36)

ਐਸੋਹਾਲਚਾਕਰਨਭਯੋ॥
ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਜਨੁਕਧਨੀਨ੍ਰਿਧਨੀਹ੍ਵੈਗਯੋ॥
ਮਾਨੋ (ਅਚਾਨਕ ਕੋਈ) ਧਨਵਾਨ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
Losing the Raja, servants felt like a wealthy-man becoming a pauper.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਦੈਕਹਾਧਾਮਹਮਜੈਹੈ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਮਰਵਾ ਕੇ) ਅਸੀਂ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ
(They thought,) ‘After losing Raja, how can we go home and how
ਕਹਾਰਾਨਿਯਹਿਬਕਤ੍ਰਦਿਖੈਹੈ॥੩੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂਗੇ ॥੩੭॥
shall we show our faces to the Rani?’(37)
ਨਭਬਾਨੀਤਿਨਕੋਤਬਭਈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਸ਼ਬਾਣੀ ਹੋਈ
ਭ੍ਰਿਤਸੁਧਿਕਹਾਤੁਮਾਰੀਗਈ॥
ਕਿ ਹੇ ਨੌਕਰੋ! ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਹੋਸ਼ ਕਿਥੇ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
Then they heard celestial utterance, ‘Where have you people lost your wits,
ਜੋਧਾਬਡੋਜੂਝਿਜਹਜਾਵੈ॥
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ,
ਰਨਛਿਤਤੇਤਿਨਕੌਨਉਚਾਵੈ॥੩੮॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੌਣ ਚੁਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੩੮॥
‘When a brave person passes away in a battle, who takes his body away?(38)

ਤਾਤੇਯਾਕੀਕਬਰਖਨਿਗਾਡਹੁਇਹੀਬਨਾਇ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਪੁਟ ਕੇ ਇਥੇ ਹੀ ਦਫ਼ਨਾ ਦਿਓ
‘Making hIs grave there, you bury him,
ਅਸ੍ਵਬਸਤ੍ਰਲੈਜਾਹੁਘਰਦੇਹੁਸੰਦੇਸੋਜਾਇ॥੩੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਘੋੜਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦਿਓ ॥੩੯॥
‘And take home his clothes and inform the people there.’(39)
ਬਾਨੀਸੁਨਿਗਾਡਿਯੋਤਿਸੈਭਏਪਵਨਭ੍ਰਿਤਭੇਸ॥
ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਉਥੇ ਹੀ) ਗਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਪਵਨ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਗਏ। (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਲਦੀ ਚਲ ਪਏ)।
After listening to this command from the heaven, they buried him there,
ਅਸ੍ਵਬਸਤ੍ਰਲੈਲਾਲਕੇਬਾਲਹਿਦਯੋਸੰਦੇਸ॥੪੦॥
ਘੋੜਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਬਾਲਾ (ਸਸਿਯਾ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪੦॥
And taking his flying-horse and clothes, they conveyed the message to his wife (Sassi Kala).(40)

ਬੈਠੀਬਾਲਜਹਾਬਡਭਾਗੀ॥
ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗਣ ਬਾਲਾ (ਸਸਿਯਾ)
ਚਿਤਚੋਰਕੀਚਿਤਵਨਿਲਾਗੀ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀ ਬੈਠੀ ਸੀ
Where the damsel was sitting with her friends in his remembrance,
ਤਬਲੌਖਬਰਿਚਾਕਰਨਦਈ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਅਰੁਨਹੁਤੀਪਿਯਰੀਹ੍ਵੈਗਈ॥੪੧॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਾ ਦਾ) ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਪੀਲਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ॥੪੧॥
There came the servants and conveyed the message and she nearly fainted.( 41)

ਚੜਿਬਿਵਾਨਤਹਤ੍ਰਿਯਚਲੀਜਹਾਹਨ੍ਯੋਨਿਜੁਪੀਯ॥
(ਤਦ) ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਉਥੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲ ਪਈ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ (ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਗਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੀ ਕਿ)
She travelled in a palanquin to the place where her lover had died.
ਕੈਲੈਐਹੌਂਪੀਯਕੌਕੈਤਹਦੈਹੌਂਜੀਯ॥੪੨॥
ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ (ਮੈਂ) ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੀ ॥੪੨॥
‘Either I will bring my husband back or I will renounce my soul there,’ she determined.(42)

ਚਲੀਚਲੀਅਬਲਾਤਹਆਈ॥
ਚਲਦੀ ਚਲਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਉਥੇ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ
ਦਾਬਿਯੋਜਹਾਮੀਤਸੁਖਦਾਈ॥
ਜਿਥੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਮਿਤਰ ਦਬਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
Travelling and travelling, the destitute reached there where her companion was buried.
ਕਬਰਿਨਿਹਾਰਿਚਕ੍ਰਿਤਚਿਤਭਈ॥
ਉਸ ਕਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ
ਤਾਹੀਬਿਖੈਲੀਨਹ੍ਵੈਗਈ॥੪੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੪੩॥
She was taken aback on seeing the grave, and fully engrossed in his imagination, breathed her lost.(43)

ਮਰਨਸਭਨਕੇਮੂੰਡਪੈਸਫਲਮਰਨਹੈਤਾਹਿ॥
ਮਰਨਾ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ (ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ) ਪਰ ਸਫਲ ਮਰਨਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੈ
Everyone is going to parish, bUt that death is worthwhile,
ਤਨਕਬਿਖੈਤਨਕੌਤਜੈਪਿਯਸੋਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਬਨਾਇ॥੪੪॥
ਜੋ ਛਿਣ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੪੪॥
Which, in no time, is sacrificed in the memory of the loved one.( 44)
ਤਨਗਾਡਿਯੋਜਹਤੁਮਮਿਲੇਅੰਗਮਿਲਿਯੋਸਰਬੰਗ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਤਨ ਦਬਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ! (ਉਥੇ) ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ, ਅੰਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ।
By burying your body you make your limbs to meet his limbs,
ਸਭਕਛੁਤਜਿਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੋਚਲਿਯੋਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਿਯਾਰੇਸੰਗ॥੪੫॥
ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ॥੪੫॥
And then the soul meets the soul, relinquishing everything else.( 45)
ਪਵਨਪਵਨਆਨਲਅਨਲਨਭਨਭਭੂਭੂਸੰਗ॥
ਪਵਨ ਪਵਨ ਨਾਲ, ਅਗਨੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਨਾਲ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਨਾਲ, ਮਿੱਟੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ,
The way the wind amalgamates in the wind, fire blends into fire,
ਜਲਜਲਕੇਸੰਗਮਿਲਿਰਹਿਯੋਤਨੁਪਿਯਕੇਸਰਬੰਗ॥੪੬॥
ਜਲ ਜਲ ਨਾਲ (ਭਾਵ ਪੰਜ ਤੱਤ੍ਵ ਪੰਜ ਮਹਾ ਤੱਤ੍ਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਤਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੪੬॥
And through water they all intermingle and become one.(46)

ਪਿਯਹਿਤਦੇਹਤਵਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਦਈ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਦੇਵਲੋਕਭੀਤਰਲੈਗਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵ-ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਗਈ।
For sake of her consort, she abandoned her body and the gods took her to the heaven.
ਅਰਧਾਸਨਬਾਸਵਤਿਹਦੀਨੋ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ('ਬਾਸਵ') ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਧਾ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਸੌਆਦਰੁਕੀਨੋ॥੪੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਦਰ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੪੭॥
Lord Indra received her honourably and offered her half of her sovereign ty.(47)

ਦੇਵਬਧੂਨਅਪਛਰਨਲਯੋਬਿਵਾਨਚੜਾਇ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਪੱਛਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਿਵਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਲਿਆ
The gods and goddesses put her in a palanquin,
