ਤਾਂ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਹਠ ('ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹ') ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੬੩॥
When Raja witnessed this, he decided to immolate himself as well.(63)
ਚਿਤਾਜਰਾਇਜਰਨਜਬਲਾਗ੍ਯੋ॥
ਜਦ (ਰਾਜਾ) ਚਿਖਾ ਬਾਲ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਨ ਲਗਿਆ,
ਤਬਬੈਤਾਲਤਹਾਤੇਜਾਗ੍ਯੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਥੋਂ ਇਕ ਬੈਤਾਲ ਜਾਗ ਪਿਆ।
When the flaming pyre was ready, suddenly Betaal, (his court poet) appeared.
ਸੰਚਿਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਤਿਹਦੁਹੂੰਨਜਿਯਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਿੜਕ ਕੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੇਚਿਤਕੋਤਾਪੁਮਿਟਾਯੋ॥੬੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੬੪॥
He sprinkled the nectar over the bodies of both of them, made them alive again and eliminated Raja’s affliction.(64)

ਸਹਿਸੈਥੀਪਾਵਕਬਰਿਯੋਦੁਹੂੰਅਨਲਯੋਬਚਾਇ॥
ਸੈਹਥੀ ਦਾ ਵਾਰ ਸਹਿ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜ ਕੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ।
He bore the brunt of sword and had decided to burn himself,
ਕਾਮਾਦਈਦਿਜੋਤਮਹਿਧੰਨ੍ਯਬਿਕ੍ਰਮਾਰਾਇ॥੬੫॥
ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ। (ਸਚਮੁਚ) ਬਿਕ੍ਰਮਾਰਾਇ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ॥੬੫॥

ਦੱਖਣ ਦੇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੜੀ ਚਤੁਰ ਹਨ।
ਜੋਗੀਗਏਭਏਘਰਬਾਰੀ॥
ਜੇ ਉਥੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਥੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the south, the women were so pretty that even the yogis, the ascetics, gone there, had became householders.
ਮੰਗਲਸੈਨਰਾਵਜਗੁਕਹਈ॥
ਇਕ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੈਨ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸੀ
ਸਭਅਰਿਕੁਲਜਾਤੇਤ੍ਰਿਣਗਹਈ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹਾਰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੧॥
Mangal Sen was the Raja of that part and all the enemies dreaded of his power.(1)
ਸਰੂਪਕਲਾਤਾਕੀਬਰਨਾਰੀ॥
ਸਰੂਪ ਕਲਾ (ਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੀ,
ਮਾਨਹੁਮਹਾਰੁਦ੍ਰਕੀਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
Saroup Kala was his wife who was as pretty as (the legendry) wife of
ਤਾਸੋਨੇਹਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਕੋਰਹੈ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੀ।
ਕਰੈਸੋਈਜੋਈਵਹਕਹੈ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਉਹੀ (ਰਾਜਾ) ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
Shiva. Raja loved her intensively and performed his duties according to her wishes.(2)

ਰੰਗਮਹਲਬਿਖੈਹੁਤੇਨਰਰਾਇਤਵਨੈਕਾਲ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਰੰਗ ਮਹੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
ਰੂਪਪ੍ਰਭਾਬਿਰਾਜਤੀਤਹਸੁੰਦਰੀਲੈਬਾਲ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਨੈ ਕੇ ਉਥੇ ਬਿਰਾਜਦੀ।
When Raja was in the Palace, Roop Prabha used to come there with her companions.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹਰੇਨਾਦਔਨਫੀਰੀਬੇਨੁਬੀਨਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ॥
ਕਾਨੜੇ ਰਾਗ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਤੂਤੀਆਂ, ਵੀਣਾ, ਬੰਸਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਆਦਿ ਸਾਜ਼ ਵਜਦੇ।
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਨਕੇਕੁਲਾਹਲਹੋਤਨਾਨਾਰੰਗ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਾਂਤੋ ਭਾਂਤੀ ਸ਼ੋਰਸ਼ਰਾਬਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
The musical notes of Raag Kanrra were melodiously played on Nafiris, the flutes and the ecstasies were showered.(3)
ਏਕਨਟੂਆਤਹਰਹੈਤਿਹਬਿਸੁਨਦਤ੍ਵਾਨਾਮ॥
ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਨਟ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਬਿਸਨ ਦਤ੍ਵਾ ਸੀ।
There lived a bard who was known as Bishan Datt,
ਰਾਵਜੂਤਾਕੌਨਚਾਵਤਰਹੈਆਠੌਜਾਮ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਨਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Whom the Raja had made to dance whole day long.
ਅਮਿਤਰੂਪਬਿਲੋਕਿਤਾਕੌਰਾਨਿਯਹਿਨਿਜੁਨੈਨ॥
ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ
When the Rani saw him with her own eyes,
ਹ੍ਵੈਗਿਰੀਬਿਸੰਭਾਰਭੂਪੈਬਧੀਸਾਯਕਮੈਨ॥੪॥
ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਬਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਬੇਸੁਧ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਈ ॥੪॥
She was overpower with lust and fell flat on the ground.(4)

ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਸਖੀ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
The Rani sent her maid and called him to her home.
ਤਜਿਕੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਕੀਕਾਨਿ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ
ਤਾਸੌਰਮੀਰੁਚਿਮਾਨਿ॥੫॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੁਚੀ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਸਹਿਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੫॥
Ignoring the prestige of the Raja, she indulged in love-making with him.(5)
ਤਿਹਅਮਿਤਰੂਪਨਿਹਾਰਿ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖਣ ਨਾਲ
ਸਿਵਸਤ੍ਰੁਗਯੋਸਰਮਾਰਿ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਵੈਰੀ (ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ) ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰ ਗਿਆ।
His extreme handsomeness had shot through her a Cupid’s sharp arrow.
ਤਬਲੌਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਗਯੋਆਇ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ
ਅਬਲਾਅਧਿਕਦੁਖਪਾਇ॥੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੬॥
In the meantime, the Raja appeared.(6)
ਤਬਕਿਯੋਇਹੈਉਪਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਉਪਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਕਦੇਗਲਈਮੰਗਾਇ॥
ਇਕ ਦੇਗ ਮੰਗਵਾ ਲਈ।
She proceeded this way: she sent for it large cooking-vessel,
ਤਾਪੈਤਵਾਕੌਦੀਨ॥
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਤਵਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਕੋਊਸਕੈਤਾਹਿਨਚੀਨ॥੭॥
ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੇਖ ਨਾ ਸਕੇ ॥੭॥
And covered it with a lid so that no one could see inside.(7)
ਜਾਮੈਘਨੌਜਲਪਰੈ॥
ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਤਰਕੌਨਬੂੰਦਿਕਢਰੈ॥
ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਵੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਿਗਦੀ ਸੀ।
(She spoke) ‘I have filled it with water and not a drop can drip out of it,
ਤਾਮੈਗੁਲਾਬਹਿਪਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਲਾਬ (ਦਾ ਅਰਕ) ਪਾ ਕੇ
ਕਾਢਿਯੌਪਤਿਹਿਦਿਖਰਾਇ॥੮॥
ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੮॥
‘I have put roses in it,’ and then she presented her husband the rosewater.(8)

ਉਸ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਪਗੜੀ ਸਿੰਜ ਦਿੱਤੀ। (ਗੁਲਾਬ ਦੇ ਅਰਕ ਨੂੰ) ਕਢ ਕੇ
She took some rose-water, and sprinkled it on her husband’s turban.
ਛਿਰਕਿਸਭਨਪਹਿਕਾਢਿਯੌਭੇਦਲਹਿਯੋਜੜਨਾਹਿ॥੯॥
ਸਭ ਉਤੇ ਛਿੜਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੇ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ॥੯॥
Under the shower of rose-water she slipped him out and no one could acquiesce the real secret.
