ਤੋਰਿਰਾਵਤਬਜਲਜਮੰਗਾਏ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਕਮਲ ਫੁਲ ਤੁੜਵਾ ਕੇ ਮੰਗਵਾਏ
ਭਾਤਿਬਿਛੌਨਾਕੀਬਿਛਵਾਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਵਿਛੌਣੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਿਛਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
Raja, then, sent them away, and collected the leaves of lotus,
ਸਕਲਸਖੀਤਿਹਪਰਬੈਠਾਈ॥
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਖੀਆਂ ਬਿਠਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੀਪ੍ਰਭਾਬਨਾਈ॥੫॥
ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ॥੫॥
He made all the maids to seat over them in various postures.(5)
ਮਾਧਵਨਲਕੌਬੋਲਿਪਠਾਇਸ॥
(ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਵਾ ਲਿਆ
ਤਵਨਸਭਾਭੀਤਰਬੈਠਾਇਸ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਠਾਇਆ।
He called Madhwan Nal and asked him to settle down among the audience.
ਰੀਝਿਬਿਪ੍ਰਤਬਬੇਨਬਜਾਈ॥
ਤਦ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ (ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ) ਨੇ ਰੀਝ ਕੇ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਵਜਾਈ,
ਸਭਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਨਕੇਚਿਤਸੁਭਾਈ॥੬॥
ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲਗੀ ॥੬॥
He played the flute; all the women were captivated.(6)

ਸਭਅਬਲਾਮੋਹਿਤਭਈਨਾਦਸ੍ਰਵਨਸੁਨਿਪਾਇ॥
ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਧੁਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ।
As soon as the music overwhelmed, the women were entranced,
ਸਭਹਿਨਕੇਤਨਸੌਗਏਕਮਲਪਤ੍ਰਲਪਟਾਇ॥੭॥
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਮਲ ਦੇ ਪੱਤੇ ਚਿਪਕ ਗਏ ॥੭॥
And the leaves of lotus flowers stuck to their bodies.(7)

ਮਾਧਵਨਲਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੁਰਤੁਨਿਕਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
Raja immediately slipped Madhwan Nal out and,
ਬਿਪ੍ਰਜਾਨਿਜਿਯਤੇਨਹੀਮਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਪਰ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਜਾਨੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
Being of Brahmin caste, did not let him die.
ਕਾਮਾਵਤੀਨਗਰਚਲਿਆਯੋ॥
(ਉਹ ਉਥੋਂ) ਚਲ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਾਵਤੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
He (Brahmin) walked away and came to Kamwati, the town of Cupid,
ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾਸੌਹਿਤਭਾਯੋ॥੮॥
(ਉਥੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੮॥
There he was fancied by the Kaamkandla (Cupid’s female counterpart).(8)

ਕਾਮਸੈਨਰਾਜਾਜਹਾਤਹਦਿਜਪਹੂੰਚ੍ਯੋਜਾਇ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਾਮ ਸੈਨ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ, ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ (ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ) ਉਥੇ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ।
The Brahmin reached the place, of which, Kam (literally Cupid) Sen Was the Raja,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਤੀਨਿਸੈਸਾਠਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਾਚਤਜਹਾਬਨਾਇ॥੯॥
ਉਥੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ) ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ੩੬੦ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਚ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ॥੯॥
In whose court three hundred and sixty damsels used to dance.(9)

ਮਾਧਵਤੌਨਸਭਾਮਹਿਆਯੋ॥
ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ
ਆਨਿਰਾਵਕੌਸੀਸਝੁਕਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਇਆ।
Madhwan reached the court and bowed his head in obeisance.
ਸੂਰਬੀਰਬੈਠੇਬਹੁਜਹਾ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ,
ਨਾਚਤਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾਤਹਾ॥੧੦॥
ਉਥੇ ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾ ਨਚ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ॥੧੦॥
A number of valiant ones were present there and Kaamkandla was dancing.(10)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਚੰਦਨਕੀਤਨਕੰਚੁਕੀਕਾਮਾਕਸੀਬਨਾਇ॥
ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾ ('ਕਾਮਾ') ਨੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਅੰਗੀ ('ਕੰਚੁਕੀ') ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
Very tightly, Kama (Kaamkandla) had worn a sandalwood-scented bodice,
ਅੰਗਿਯਾਹੀਸਭਕੋਲਖੈਚੰਦਨਲਖ੍ਯੋਨਜਾਇ॥੧੧॥
ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗੀ ਹੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਚੰਦਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਖਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧੧॥
The bodice was visible but not the sandalwood.(11)
ਚੰਦਨਕੀਲੈਬਾਸਨਾਭਵਰਬਹਿਠ੍ਯੋਆਇ॥
ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਭੌਰਾ (ਉਥੇ) ਆ ਬੈਠਿਆ
Lured by the aroma of sandalwood, a black-bee came and sat over it.
ਸੋਤਿਨਕੁਚਕੀਬਾਯੁਤੇਦੀਨੌਤਾਹਿਉਠਾਇ॥੧੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਛਾਤੀਆਂ (ਦੇ ਝਟਕੇ ਤੋ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ) ਹਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਡਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੨॥
She jerked her bodice and made the bee fly away.(l2)

ਇਹਸੁਭੇਦਬਿਪਨੈਲਹਿਲਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੇਦ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ।
ਰੀਝਤਅਧਿਕਚਿਤਮਹਿਭਯੋ॥
(ਉਹ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ।
Brahmin observed all the interlude and felt very desirous,
ਅਮਿਤਦਰਬੁਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੇਜੋਲੀਨੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਰਾਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ,
ਸੋਲੈਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਹਿਦੀਨੋ॥੧੩॥
ਉਹ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੩॥
And all the wealth he was rewarded by Raja, he gave away to Kaamkandla.(13)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥
ਦੋਹਰਾ:

ਅਮਿਤਦਰਬੁਹਮਜੋਦਯੋਸੋਇਹਦਯੋਲੁਟਾਇ॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ) ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਬੇਹਿਸਾਬਾ ਧਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ (ਇਸ ਨੇ) ਲੁਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
(The Raja thought) ‘All the wealth which I handed over to him, he has given away.
ਐਸੇਬਿਪ੍ਰਫਜੂਲਕੋਮੋਹਿਨਰਾਖ੍ਯੋਜਾਇ॥੧੪॥
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੂਲ ਖ਼ਰਚ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
‘Such a foolish Brahmin priest could not be retained by me.’(l4)

ਬਿਪ੍ਰਜਾਨਿਜਿਯਤੇਨਹਿਮਰਿਯੈ॥
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਜਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ,
ਇਹਪੁਰਤੇਇਹਤੁਰਤੁਨਿਕਰਿਯੈ॥
ਪਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਤ ਕਢ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
‘Being a Brahmin he should not be killed but he must be banished from the village,
ਜਾਕੇਦੁਰਿਯੋਧਾਮਲਹਿਲੀਜੈ॥
(ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ) ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ,
ਟੂਕਅਨੇਕਤਵਨਕੋਕੀਜੈ॥੧੫॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ॥੧੫॥
‘And any person who shelters him, he would be cut into pieces.’(15)
ਯਹਸਭਭੇਦਬਿਪ੍ਰਸੁਨਿਪਾਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ।
ਚਲਿਯੋਚਲਿਯੋਕਾਮਾਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਯੋ॥
ਉਹ ਚਲਦਾ ਚਲਦਾ ਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਇਆ।
When Brahmin learned about this secret proclamation, he instantly came to the house of that woman,
ਮੋਪਰਕੋਪਅਧਿਕਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੀਨੋ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਿ) ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਹਹਿਤਧਾਮਤਿਹਾਰੋਚੀਨੋ॥੧੬॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਘਰ ਲਭਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
(And said) ‘As the Raja is very angry with me, therefore, I have come to your house.’(16)
