ਜੋਉਨਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਆਕਮਾਈ॥੭॥
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਉਹੀ (ਮੈਂ) ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੭॥
‘I was dreaded and immediately called the priest and I ritualised the way he asked me.(7)

ਸਤੂਅਨਕਰੀਬਨਾਇਕੈਦੰਤਨਚਾਬੇਕੋਇ॥
ਸਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਥੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਏਗਾ,
‘He had told me that whosoever ate the curry made out of barleymeal,
ਤਾਕੌਗੈਵਰਮਤਕੋਕਬਹੂੰਤ੍ਰਾਸਨਹੋਇ॥੮॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਸਤ ਹਾਥੀ ('ਗੈਵਰ') ਦਾ ਡਰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏਗਾ ॥੮॥
‘He would never be frightened ofthe elephant.’ (8)
ਫੂਲਿਗਯੋਜੜਬਾਤਸੁਨਿਭੇਦਨਸਕਿਯੋਪਾਇ॥
ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਫੁਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ।
He was pleased after listening to this flattery, but did not comprehend the real secret
ਸਤੂਅਨਕਰੀਤੁਰਾਇਕੈਮੁਹਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਲਯੋਬਚਾਇ॥੯॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ) ਸਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਥੀ (ਮੈਥੋਂ) ਚਬਵਾ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
And thought, ‘With the curry of barley-meal the woman has saved my life.’(9)(1)

ਸਹਰਇਟਾਵਾਮੈਹੁਤੋਨਾਨਾਨਾਮਸੁਨਾਰ॥
ਇਟਾਵਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਨਾ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਸੁਨਿਆਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
In the city of Etawa, there lived a goldsmith,
ਤਾਕੀਅਤਿਹੀਦੇਹਮੈਦੀਨੋਰੂਪਮੁਰਾਰ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
Who had been endowed with most handsome body.(1)

ਜੋਤ੍ਰਿਯਤਾਕੋਨੈਨਨਿਹਾਰੈ॥
ਜੋ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਂਦੀ,
ਆਪੁਨਕੋਕਰਿਧੰਨ੍ਯਬਿਚਾਰੈ॥
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਸਮਝਦੀ।
Any woman, who attained, even, a glimpse of him, would consider herself to be blissful.
ਯਾਕੈਰੂਪਤੁਲਿਕੋਊਨਾਹੀ॥
'ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ'।
ਯੌਕਹਿਕੈਅਬਲਾਬਲਿਜਾਹੀ॥੨॥
ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ॥੨॥
‘There is none like you,’ they would say and be prepared to die for him.(2)

ਦੀਪਕਲਾਨਾਮਾਹੁਤੀਦੁਹਿਤਾਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰਿ॥
(ਉਥੇ) ਦੀਪ ਕਲਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਸੀ।
There used to live a princess named Deepkala.
ਅਮਿਤਦਰਬੁਤਾਕੇਰਹੈਦਾਸੀਰਹੈਹਜਾਰ॥੩॥
ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਬੇਹਿਸਾਬਾ ਧਨ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ॥੩॥
She was very affluent and had many maids to attend her.(3)
ਪਠੈਏਕਤਿਨਸਹਚਰੀਲਯੋਸੁਨਾਰਬੁਲਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਦਾਸੀ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
She sent one of her maids and called over the goldsmith.
ਰੈਨਿਦਿਨਾਤਾਸੋਰਮੈਅਧਿਕਚਿਤਸੁਖੁਪਾਇ॥੪॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਸਹਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੀ ॥੪॥
She ravished with him and felt blissful.(4)

ਰਾਤਦਿਵਸਤਿਹਧਾਮਬੁਲਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ (ਸੁਨਿਆਰੇ) ਨੂੰ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦੀ
ਕਾਮਕੇਲਤਿਹਸੰਗਕਮਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦੀ।
Every night and day, she would invite him to her house and
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਮਾਨਿਤਿਹਸਾਥਬਿਹਾਰੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਮਣ ਕਰਦੀ
ਵਾਕੇਲਿਯੇਪ੍ਰਾਨਦੈਡਾਰੈ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿਛਾਵਰ ਕਰਦੀ ॥੫॥
With him enjoyed by making love.(5)
ਏਕਦਿਵਸਤਿਹਧਾਮਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ,
ਤਬਲੋਪਿਤੁਤਾਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਯੋ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
One day when he was at her house, her father came to her quarters.
ਕਛੂਨਚਲਿਯੋਜਤਨਇਹਕੀਨੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਹ ਨਾ ਲਗੀ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ
ਅੰਜਨਆਂਜਿਬਿਦਾਕਰਿਦੀਨੋ॥੬॥
ਕਿ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅੱਖ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੬॥
She could think no excuse, put eye-lasher in his eyes (disguised him as woman) and let him go.(6)

ਅਧਿਕਮੂੜਤਾਕੋਪਿਤਾਸਕਿਯੋਭੇਦਨਹਿਚੀਨ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੂਰਖ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਿਆ।
Unduly foolish father could not discern the secret,
ਆਖਨਅੰਜਨਆਂਜਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਮੀਤਬਿਦਾਕਰਿਦੀਨ॥੭॥
(ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੭॥
And the woman putting eye-lasher bid good-bye to her lover.(7)(1)

ਗਬਿੰਦਚੰਦਨਰੇਸਕੇਮਾਧਵਨਲਨਿਜੁਮੀਤ॥
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਚੰਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ) ਜਿਗਰੀ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸੀ
Gobind Chand Naresh had a friend called Madhwan Nal.
ਪੜੇਬ੍ਯਾਕਰਨਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਖਟਕੋਕਸਾਰਸੰਗੀਤ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਵਿਆਕਰਣ ਖਟ-ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ, ਕੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
He was adept in grammar, six Shastras, Kob Shastra and was proficient in music.(1)

ਮਧੁਰਮਧੁਰਧੁਨਿਬੇਨੁਬਜਾਵੈ॥
ਉਹ ਮਿਠੀ ਮਿਠੀ ਧੁਨ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਵਜਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਜੋਕੋਊਤ੍ਰਿਯਸ੍ਰਵਨਨਸੁਨਿਪਾਵੈ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਲੈਂਦੀ
He used to play flute very melodiously; any woman listening to it,
ਚਿਤਮੈਅਧਿਕਮਤਹ੍ਵੈਝੂਲੈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਝੂਮਦੀ।
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੀਸਕਲਤਾਹਿਸੁਧਿਭੂਲੇ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੁੱਧ ਬੁੱਧ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ॥੨॥
Would forget all her household work and succumb to its ecstasy.(2)
ਪੁਰਬਾਸੀਨ੍ਰਿਪਪੈਚਲਿਆਏ॥
ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੋਲ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਆਏ
ਆਇਰਾਇਤਨਬਚਨਸੁਨਾਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਕਹੇ।
The inhabitants of the village came to the Raja and requested,
ਕੈਮਾਧਵਨਲਕੌਅਬਮਰਿਯੈ॥
ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਧਵਾਨਲ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓ,
ਨਾਤੋਯਾਕਹਦੇਸਨਿਕਰਿਯੈ॥੩॥
ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ॥੩॥
‘Either Madhwan may be killed or should be banish:d from the village,(3)

ਇਹਹਮਾਰੀਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਨਕੇਲੇਤਚਿਤਬਿਰਮਾਇ॥
ਇਹ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ ਭਰਮਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
‘Because he allures the minds of our women.
ਜੌਹਮਸਭਕੌਕਾਢਿਯੈਤੌਇਹਰਖਿਯੈਰਾਹਿ॥੪॥
ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਢ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਖ ਲਵੋ ॥੪॥
‘Alternatively, you may please retain him and direct us to go away.’(4)
