ਆਪ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ,
ਸੁਨਨਾਥਇਹਸ੍ਵਾਨਤਿਹਾਰੋ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਕੁੱਤਾ
Then she told the Raja, ‘Listen, My Master, your this dog.
ਮੋਕੌਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਰਾਨਤੇਪ੍ਯਾਰੋ॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਯਾਕੌਜਿਨਿਪਾਹਨਤੁਮਮਾਰੋ॥੬॥
ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾ ਮਾਰੋ ॥੬॥
‘Is precious to me, more than my life. Please don’t kill it.’(6)

ਸਤਿਸਤਿਤਬਨ੍ਰਿਪਕਹਿਯੋਤਾਹਿਟੂਕਰੋਡਾਰਿ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਤਦ 'ਸਤ, ਸਤ' ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਟੁਕਰ ਪਾਇਆ।
‘I believe you,’ Raja said, ‘It is true,’ and gave it a piece of bread.
ਆਗੇਹ੍ਵੈਕੈਨਿਕਸਿਯੋਸਕਿਯੋਨਮੂੜਬਿਚਾਰਿ॥੭॥
(ਉਹ ਕੁੱਤਾ) ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਅਗੋਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ (ਰਾਜਾ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੭॥
Be passed right in front of his eyes, but the foolish Raja did not fathom.

ਇੰਦ੍ਰਦਤਰਾਜਾਹੁਤੋਗੋਖਾਨਗਰਮਝਾਰ॥
ਗੋਖਾ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੱਤ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
In the city of Gokha Nagar, there was a Raja named lndra Datt.
ਕੰਜਪ੍ਰਭਾਰਾਨੀਰਹੈਜਾਕੋਰੂਪਅਪਾਰ॥੧॥
(ਉਸ ਪਾਸ) ਕੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਪਾਰ ਰੂਪ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
Kanj Prabha was his wife; she was extremely pretty.(1)
ਸਰਬਮੰਗਲਾਕੌਭਵਨਗੋਖਾਸਹਿਰਮੰਝਾਰ॥
ਗੋਖਾ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਬ ਮੰਗਲਾ ਨਾਂ (ਦੀ ਦੇਵੀ) ਦਾ ਭਵਨ (ਮੰਦਿਰ) ਸੀ।
The temple of goddess, Sarab Mangla, was in Gokha city.
ਊਚਨੀਚਰਾਜਾਪ੍ਰਜਾਸਭਤਿਹਕਰਤਜੁਹਾਰ॥੨॥
ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ, ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਥੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੨॥
Here all, high and low, the Raja and the subject used to pay their obeisance.(2)

ਤਾਕੇਭਵਨਸਕਲਚਲਿਆਵਹਿ॥
ਉਸ (ਦੇਵੀ) ਦੇ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ
ਆਨਿਗੋਰਕੌਸੀਸਝੁਕਾਵਹਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਸਮਾਧੀ ('ਗੋਰ') ਨੂੰ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
All used to walk to the place to bow their heads,
ਕੁੰਕਮਔਰਅਛਤਨਲਾਵਹਿ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਕੇਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਵਲ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੋਧੂਪਜਗਾਵਹਿ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੀ ਧੂਪ ਜਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੩॥
They would put sacred marks on their foreheads along with burning assorted essence.(3)

ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਦੈਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਮਾਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਸਿਰਨ੍ਯਾਇ॥
ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਕ੍ਰਮਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰ ਝੁਕਾ ਕੇ
They would circumambulate in various forms and pay their obeisance.
ਪੂਜਭਵਾਨੀਕੌਭਵਨਬਹੁਰਿਬਸੈਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਇ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੪॥
After offering prayers to the goddess Bhawani, they would return to their homes.(4)

ਨਰਨਾਰੀਸਭਤਹਚਲਿਜਾਹੀ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਉਥੇ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ
ਅਛਤਧੂਪਕੁੰਕਮਹਿਲਾਹੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਚੌਲ ਕੇਸਰ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਧੂਪ (ਜਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ)।
Men and women would walk to the place burning incense and sprinkling saffron.
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੇਗੀਤਨਗਾਵੈ॥
ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ
ਸਰਬਮੰਗਲਾਕੋਸਿਰਨਯਾਵੈ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ ਮੰਗਲਾ (ਦੇਵੀ) ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੫॥
They would recite Sundry songs to appease goddess, Mangal.(5)
ਜੋਇਛਾਕੋਊਮਨਮੈਧਰੈ॥
ਜੋ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਛਾ ਧਾਰਦਾ,
ਜਾਇਭਵਾਨੀਭਵਨਉਚਰੈ॥
ਉਹ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ।
What ever they wished for in their minds, they would go and express to Bhawani.
ਪੂਰਨਭਾਵਨਾਤਿਨਕੀਹੋਈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਪੁਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
ਬਾਲਬ੍ਰਿਧਜਾਨਤਸਭਕੋਈ॥੬॥
(ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਬਾਲ ਬਿਰਧ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੬॥
And Bhawani would gratify all, the young and the old.(6)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥
ਦੋਹਰਾ:

ਫਲਤਆਪਨੀਭਾਵਨਾਯਾਮੈਭੇਦਨਕੋਇ॥
(ਸਭ ਥਾਂ) ਆਪਣੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੀ ਫਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
Whatever one would wish for, one would get it accomplished
ਭਲੋਭਲੋਕੋਹੋਤਹੈਬੁਰੋਬੁਰੇਕੋਹੋਇ॥੭॥
ਭਲੇ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਦਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
Whether it was good, bad or in any other form.(7)
ਚੇਤ੍ਰਅਸਟਮੀਕੇਦਿਵਸਉਤਸਵਤਿਹਠਾਹੋਇ॥
ਚੇਤਰ ਦੀ ਅਸ਼ਟਮੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਤਸਵ (ਮੇਲਾ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
On the Ash tmi day of the month of Chet (Marchi April) there would be held a festival,
ਊਚਨੀਚਰਾਜਾਪ੍ਰਜਾਰਹੈਨਘਰਮੈਕੋਇ॥੮॥
ਉੱਚਾ ਨੀਵਾਂ, ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੮॥
And none, the high, the low, the ruler and the subject, would stay back at home.(8)

ਦਿਵਸਅਸਟਮੀਕੋਜਬਆਯੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸ਼ਟਮੀ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਆਇਆ,
ਜਾਤ੍ਰੀਏਕਰਾਨਿਯਹਿਭਾਯੋ॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਯਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਿਆ।
Once on the day of Ashtmi, Rani met a traveller,
ਤਾਸੌਭੋਗਕਰਤਮਨਭਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ,
ਘਾਤਏਕਹੂੰਹਾਥਨਆਵੈ॥੯॥
ਪਰ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਦਾਓ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ॥੯॥
She felt like having sex with him but she could not get the opportunity, (9)
ਯਹੈਬਿਹਾਰਚਿਤਮਹਿਆਯੋ॥
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਆਇਆ
ਜਾਤ੍ਰੀਕਹਪਿਛਵਾਰਸਦਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਯਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਿਛਵਾੜੇ ਬੁਲਵਾਇਆ।
With this in mind, she thought of a plan to call the traveller at the back of the place.
ਤਾਸੋਘਾਤਯਹੈਬਦਿਰਾਖੀ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਦਾਓ ਮਿਥਿਆ
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਰਾਵਜੂਤਨਯੌਭਾਖੀ॥੧੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ॥੧੦॥
She discussed the strategy, of how to deal with Raja, in her mind.(10)
ਜਾਨਸਿਮਿਤਿਪਿਛਵਾਰੇਆਵਾ॥
(ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਮਿਤਰ ਪਿਛਵਾੜੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਬਦਿਸੰਕੇਤਿਯੌਬਚਨਸੁਨਾਵਾ॥
(ਤਦ) ਸੰਕੇਤ ਨਾਲ ਦਾਓ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ
‘When he had come at the back of the house, I would, candidly, announce,
ਸਖਿਯਹਿਸਹਿਤਕਾਲਿਮੈਜੈਹੋ॥
ਕਿ ਸਖੀਆਂ ਸਹਿਤ ਕਲ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ
