ਅਬਹੀਮੋਕਹਪਕਰਿਨਿਕਰਿਹੈ॥
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣੇ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਢਣਗੇ
ਬਹੁਰੋਬਾਧਿਮਾਰਹੀਡਰਿਹੈ॥੧੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਦੇਣਗੇ ॥੧੫॥
‘Now they will take me out, tie me and kill me,(15)
ਹੌਇਹਠੌਰਆਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਮਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ (ਇਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਣ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਬਉਪਾਇਕ੍ਯਾਕਰੋਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਉਪਾ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ।
‘The woman has put me in dangerous dilemma, how can I remedy this?
ਕਾਸੌਕਹੌਸੰਗਕੋਊਨਾਹੀ॥
ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਇਹਚਿੰਤਾਤਾਕੇਮਨਮਾਹੀ॥੧੬॥
ਇਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੀ ॥੧੬॥
‘I have no one to help me,’ that apprehension captured his mind.(16)

ਸਸਤ੍ਰਅਸਤ੍ਰਘੋਰਾਨਹੀਸਾਥੀਸੰਗਨਕੋਇ॥
(ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ) ਅਸਤ੍ਰ, ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ, ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ।
‘Neither I have arms, nor I possess any horses. I have no companion.
ਅਤਿਮੁਸਕਿਲਮੋਕੌਬਨੀਕਰਤਾਕਰੈਸੁਹੋਇ॥੧੭॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ ਜੋ) ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਉਹੀ ਹੋਏਗਾ ॥੧੭॥
‘I am plunged in a great predicament. Now, only God can help me.(17)
ਸਾਥੀਕੋਊਸੰਗਨਹੀਕਾਸੋਕਰੋਪੁਕਾਰ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸ ਅਗੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਂ।
‘I have no friend, who could cry for help?
ਮਨਸਾਬਾਚਾਕਰਮਨਾਮੋਹਿਹਨਿਹੈਨਿਰਧਾਰ॥੧੮॥
ਮਨ, ਬਚਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥੧੮॥
‘To prove her words, she must have ascertained to terminate me.’(18)
ਖਾਇਮਿਠਾਈਰਾਵਤਬਦੀਯੋਪਿਟਾਰੋਦਾਨ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਮਠਿਆਈ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਪਿਟਾਰਾ ਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The Raja savoured some sweetment and, then, bestowed the rest of the basket with benediction.
ਵਹਬਿਵਾਹਿਤਿਹਲੈਗਯੋਅਧਿਕਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਸੁਖੁਮਾਨਿ॥੧੯॥
(ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੋਗੀ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੯॥
Thereafter, he married her and with great satisfaction took her with him.(l9)
ਦੁਹਿਤਜਾਮਾਤਾਸਹਿਤਜੀਯਤਦਯੋਪਠਾਇ॥
ਲੜਕੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਜਵਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਉਥੋਂ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਭਿਜਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The woman bade goodbye to her daughter along with the son-in-law,
ਸਭਦੇਖਤਦਿਨਕਾਢਿਯੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿਮਠਾਈਖ੍ਵਾਇ॥੨੦॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਠਿਆਈ ਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਦਿਨ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਕਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੦॥
And she accomplished this just by making Raja to eat some sweetments.(20)

ਬਨਿਤਾਚਰਿਤਹਾਥਨਹਿਆਯੋ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ,
ਦੈਵਦੈਤਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਹਿਪਾਯੋ॥
ਦੇਵਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਿਆ।
No body, not even the gods and the demons, can grasp the Chritars.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਨਕਿਸਹੂਕਹਿਯੈ॥
ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਚਿਤਮੈਸਮਝਿਮੋਨਿਹ੍ਵੈਰਹਿਯੋ॥੨੧॥
ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਚੁਪ ਕਰ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥
What should we designate and Chritar? It is rather prudent to keep quiet. (21)(1)

ਉਰੀਚੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਉਚਿੱਸ਼੍ਰਵ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ) ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ।
ਜਾਕੀਤੁਲਿਕਹੂੰਨਹਿਸਾਜਾ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨ ਸ਼ੌਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
In the city of Uric hang, there lived a Raja named Uchsrav; there was none other like him.
ਰੂਪਕਲਾਤਾਕੀਵਰਨਾਰੀ॥
ਰੂਪ ਕਲਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਨਾਰੀ ਸੀ,
ਮਾਨਹੁਕਾਮਕੰਦਲਾਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ॥੧॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਕਾਮ ਕੰਦਲਾ ਵਰਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
Roop Kala was his woman; and she was embodiment of the Cupid.(1)

ਇੰਦ੍ਰਨਾਥਜੋਗੀਹੁਤੋਸੋਤਹਿਨਿਕਸਿਯੋਆਇ॥
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਨਾਥ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਉਥੇ ਆ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ।
There was one yogi called Inder Nath. When he passed that way,
ਝਰਨਨਤੇਝਾਈਪਰੀਰਾਨੀਲਯੋਬੁਲਾਇ॥੨॥
ਝਰੋਖੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਪਰਛਾਈ ਪਈ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
Rani looked at him through the ventilator and called him in.(2)

ਜੋਗੀਦੈਅੰਜਨੁਤਹਆਵੈ॥
ਜੋਗੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਦੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ
ਗੁਟਕੈਬਲੁਕੈਬਹੁਉਡਿਜਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਵਟੀ ('ਗੁਟਕਾ-ਤੰਤ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੋਲੀ) ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਲ ਤੇ ਉਡ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
Yogi had given her the powder for eye-lashes, through its power she could fly.
ਜਿਸੀਠੌਰਚਾਹੈਤਿਸੁਜਾਵੈ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ, ਉਥੇ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੈਭੋਗਕਮਾਵੈ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੀ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦੀ ॥੩॥
She would fly to any place she liked, and indulged in variety of sexplays.(3)
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੇਦੇਸਨਿਹਾਰੈ॥
(ਉਹ) ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਸਨ,
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੀਪ੍ਰਭਾਬਿਚਾਰੈ॥
ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ।
She went to various countries, and relished diverse beauties.
ਅੰਜਨਬਲਤਿਹਕੋਊਨਪਾਵੈ॥
ਸੁਰਮੇ ਦੇ ਬਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ (ਵੇਖ ਨਹੀਂ) ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਤਿਸੀਠੌਰਰਨਿਯਹਿਲੈਜਾਵੈ॥੪॥
(ਫਿਰ ਉਹ) ਉਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ) ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੪॥
With the faculty of powder, she was not visible to anyone

ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘੁੰਮ ਸਕਦੇ
She went to various countries, and relished diverse beauties.
ਐਸੇਸੁਖਨਬਿਲੋਕਿਕੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਪਰਰੀਝਤਕੌਨ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਫਿਰ) ਰਾਜੇ ਉਤੇ ਕੌਣ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
And, every time she would return her original place.(5)

ਜਬਯਹਭੇਦਰਾਵਲਖਿਪਾਵਾ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਭੇਦ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾ,
ਅਧਿਕਕੋਪਮਨਮਾਝਬਸਾਵਾ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
When the Raja learned aboUt this secret trait, he flew into a rage. He
ਚਿਤਮਹਿਕਹਿਯੋਕੌਨਬਿਧਿਕੀਜੈ॥
ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰੀਏ
ਜਾਤੇਨਾਸਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਕਰਿਦੀਜੈ॥੬॥
ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ ॥੬॥
Eliberated on some plans to annihilate that woman.(6)
ਰਾਜਾਤਹਾਆਪਿਚਲਿਆਯੋ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪ ਉਥੇ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ
ਪਾਇਨਕੋਖਰਕੋਨਜਤਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਖੜਕਾ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
Raja walked to the place; not to make noise, he tiptoed.
ਸੇਜਸੋਤਜੋਗਿਯਹਿਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਸੇਜ ਉਤੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
ਕਾਢਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਮਾਰਹੀਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥੭॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕਢ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੭॥
He saw the yogi sleeping in the bed; he took out his sword and killed him.(7)
ਗੁਟਕਾਹੁਤੋਹਾਥਮਹਿਲਯੋ॥
ਮੰਤ੍ਰਵਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ
ਜੁਗਿਯਹਿਡਾਰਿਕੁਠਰਿਯਹਿਦਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗੀ (ਦੀ ਲੋਥ) ਨੂੰ ਕੋਠੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
He took away booklet (magic material), and pushed the yogi into the dungeon
ਸ੍ਰੋਨਪੋਛਬਸਤ੍ਰਨਸੋਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਲਹੂ ਨੂੰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੂੰਝ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸੇਵਤਰਾਨੀਕਛੁਨਬਿਛਾਰਿਯੋ॥੮॥
ਸੁਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਪਤਾ ਨਾ ਲਗਿਆ ॥੮॥
He cleaned the blood stains with the cloth but did not let Rani know.(8)

ਜੁਗਿਯਾਹੂਕੇਬਕਤ੍ਰਤੇਪਤਿਯਾਲਿਖੀਬਨਾਇ॥
ਜੋਗੀ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਸ ਵਲੋਂ) ਇਕ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਲਿਖੀ
Raja wrote a letter on behalf of the Yogi,
ਰਾਨੀਮੈਬੇਖਰਚਿਹੌਂਕਛੁਮੁਹਿਦੇਹੁਪਠਾਇ॥੯॥
ਕਿ ਹੇ ਰਾਣੀ! ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ਰਚੋਂ ਥੁੜ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ (ਧਨ) ਭੇਜ ਦੇ ॥੯॥
I have no money to spend, please send me some.(9)

ਇਸੀਭਾਤਿਲਿਖਿਨਿਤਿਪਠਾਵੈ॥
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿੱਤ (ਚਿੱਠੀ) ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ
ਸਭਰਾਨੀਕੋਦਰਬਚੁਰਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ (ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਰਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਹਰ ਲਿਆ।
This way he wrote everyday one letter and snatched all the wealth belonging to the Rani.
ਧਨੀਹੁਤੀਨਿਰਧਨਹ੍ਵੈਗਈ॥
ਉਹ ਅਮੀਰ ਸੀ, (ਹੁਣ) ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹੂੰਡਾਰਿਚਿਤਤੇਦਈ॥੧੦॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੋ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੦॥
She was turned from a rich to a poor woman, and the Raja expunged her from his heart.(10)
ਜੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਧਨੁਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਤੇਪਾਵੈ॥
ਰਾਜਾ (ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਰਾਣੀ) ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਟਕਾਟਕਾਕਰਿਦਿਜਨਲੁਟਾਵੈ॥
ਉਹ ਰੁਪਇਆ ਰੁਪਇਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Whatever wealth Raja squeezed out of that woman, he distributed among Brahmins, the priests.
ਤਿਹਸੌਤਿਨਸੌਕੇਲਕਮਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੌਂਕਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ
ਤਾਕੇਨਿਕਟਨਕਬਹੂੰਆਵੈ॥੧੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧੧॥
Be would make love with the co-wives but never went near her.(11)
ਸਭਤਾਕੋਧਨੁਲਯੋਚੁਰਾਈ॥
ਉਸ (ਰਾਣੀ) ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਚੁਰਾ ਲਿਆ
ਸੌਤਿਨਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਭੀਖਮੰਗਾਈ॥
ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੌਂਕਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਮੰਗਣ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਲਏਠੀਕਰੌਹਾਥਬਿਹਾਰੈ॥
(ਉਹ) ਠੂਠਾ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਸੀ
ਭੀਖਿਸੋਤਿਤਾਕੋਨਹਿਡਾਰੈ॥੧੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੌਂਕਣਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਿਖ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੀਆ ਸਨ ॥੧੨॥
Be swindled all her wealth and made her to go and beg at the doors of the co-wives.(12)
ਦ੍ਵਾਰਦ੍ਵਾਰਤੇਭੀਖਮੰਗਾਈ॥
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੁਆਰ ਦੁਆਰ ਤੇ ਭਿਖ ਮੰਗਵਾਈ।
ਦਰਬੁਹੁਤੋਸੋਰਹਿਯੋਨਕਾਈ॥
(ਜੋ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ) ਧਨ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਹੁਣ) ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
Be forced her to go begging from door to door as she was left with no money at all.
