ਜੋਚਾਹਹੁਸੋਕੀਜਿਯੈਦੀਨੀਦੇਗਦਿਖਾਇ॥੨੫॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਦੇਗ ਵਿਖਾ ਕੇ (ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ) ਜੋ ਚਾਹੋ, ਸੋ ਕਰੋ ॥੨੫॥
And, after displaying him the cooking-vessel, had asked him to take whatever action he liked.(25)

ਜਦ ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ) ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦਸਿਆ
ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨਤੇਪ੍ਯਾਰੀਤਿਹਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
(ਤਾਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ।
When the Rani displayed such an Chritar, he considered her much more nearer to his heart.
ਪੁਨਿਕਛੁਕਹਿਯੋਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਹਿਕਰਿਯੈ॥
ਫਿਰ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ
Then he whispered to perform some more chicanery,
ਪੁਛਿਕਾਜਿਯਹਿਯਾਕਹਮਰਿਯੈ॥੨੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਛ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੬॥
And, thereafter, with the concurrence of Quazi (justice) wanted to assassinate him.(26)

ਤਬਬੇਗਮਤਿਹਸਖੀਸੋਐਸੇਕਹਿਯੋਸਿਖਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ
The Begum hit upon a plan, and instructed the maid,
ਭੂਤਭਾਖਿਇਹਗਾਡਿਯਹੁਚੌਕਚਾਦਨੀਜਾਇ॥੨੭॥
ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਚਾਂਦਨੀ ਚੌਕ ਵਿਚ ਗਡ ਦਿਓ ॥੨੭॥
‘Take it to Chandni Chowk and declare, ‘A ghost is in there.’(27)

ਉਹ ਸਖੀ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਲਿਆ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ
ਮੂਰਖਪਰਿਯੋਦੇਗਮੈਜਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ (ਉਹ) ਮੂਰਖ ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
She was taking him to get him killed, but the fool in the cookingvessel was happily to be moved.
ਜਾਨੈਆਜੁਬੇਗਮਹਿਪੈਹੌ॥
(ਉਹ) ਸਮਝ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅਜ ਬੇਗਮ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ
ਕਾਮਕਲਾਤਿਹਸਾਥਕਮੈਹੌ॥੨੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ॥੨੮॥
He was thinking that he would get Rani and then would have sex with her.(28)
ਲਏਦੇਗਕੋਆਵੈਕਹਾ॥
(ਉਹ ਸਖੀ) ਦੇਗ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਥੇ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ
ਕਾਜੀਮੁਫਤੀਸਭਹੈਜਹਾ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਫ਼ਤੀ (ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਮੁਨਸ਼ੀ) ਸਭ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਨ।
They brought the cooking-vessel at the place, where Quazi and Mufti, the priest, used to sit,
ਕੋਟਵਾਰਜਹਕਸਟਦਿਖਾਵੈ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਤਵਾਲ ਚੌਬੂਤਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ
ਬੈਠਚੌਤਰੇਨ੍ਯਾਉਚੁਕਾਵੈ॥੨੯॥
ਨਿਆਂ ਚੁਕਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਦੰਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨੯॥
And the police indulged to implement justice.(29)

ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ! ਇਸ ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਭੂਤ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਕੀ ਨਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ।
Listen, Quazi, there is a ghost in the cooking-vessel.
ਕਹੌਤੌਯਾਕੋਗਾਡਿਯੈਕਹੌਤੇਦੇਉਜਰਾਇ॥੩੦॥
ਕਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਗਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਏ ਜਾਂ ਕਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੩੦॥
With your order it should be either buried or put on fire.(30)
ਤਬਕਾਜੀਐਸੇਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਨੁਸੁੰਦਰਿਮਮਬੈਨ॥
ਤਦ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਇੰਜ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ।
Then Quazi pronounced, ‘Listen, the pretty maid,
ਯਾਕੋਜੀਯਤਹਿਗਾਡਿਯੈਛੂਟੈਕਿਸੂਹਨੈਨ॥੩੧॥
ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਗਡ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਛਡ ਦੇਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ (ਹੋਰ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥੩੧॥
‘It must be buried, otherwise, ifit is let loose, it may kill any body.’(31)
ਕੋਟਵਾਰਕਾਜੀਜਬੈਮੁਫਤੀਆਯਸੁਕੀਨ॥
ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਮੁਫ਼ਤੀ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਤਵਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ
Then the Quazi, the policeman and the priest gave their permission,
ਦੇਗਸਹਿਤਤਹਭੂਤਕਹਿਗਾਡਿਗੋਰਿਮਹਿਦੀਨ॥੩੨॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਦੇਗ ਸਮੇਤ ਕਬਰ ਵਿਚ ਦਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩੨॥
And it was buried in the ground and the ghost along with the Cooking vessel was entombed.(32)
ਜੀਤਿਰਹਿਯੋਦਲਸਾਹਕੋਗਯੋਖਜਾਨਾਖਾਇ॥
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਦਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਟ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ,
This way the Rani won over the heart of the Emperor,
ਸੋਛਲਸੌਤ੍ਰਿਯਭੂਤਕਹਿਦੀਨੋਗੋਰਿਗਡਾਇ॥੩੩॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਭੂਤ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਬਰ ਵਿਚ ਦਬਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩੩॥
And with her trickery the woman got him declared as a ghost.(33)(1)

ਰਾਜੌਰੀ ਦੇਸ (ਰਿਆਸਤ) ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜਪੁਰ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਸੀ।
In the country of Rajauri, there was a village called Rajpur.
ਤਹਾਏਕਗੂਜਰਬਸੈਰਾਜਮਲਤਿਹਨਾਉ॥੧॥
ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਗੁਜਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਰਾਜ ਮੱਲ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
There lived a gujar, the milkman, whose name was Raj Mahal.(1)

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਜੋ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੀ
ਸੁੰਦਰਅੰਗਬੰਸਉਜਿਯਾਰੀ॥
ਜੋ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਜਲੇ ਬੰਸ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ।
Rajo, a damsel lived there. She was endowed with a charming body.
ਤਿਹਇਕਨਰਸੌਨੇਹਲਗਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਬੰਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾਲ ਲਿਆ।
ਗੂਜਰਭੇਦਤਬੈਲਖਿਪਾਯੋ॥੨॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਗੁਜਰ ਇਸ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਗਿਆ ॥੨॥
She fell in love with a man and the milkman suspected.(2)
ਜਾਰਲਖ੍ਯੋਗੂਜਰਮੁਹਿਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਯਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਗੁਜਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਧਿਕਚਿਤਭੀਤਰਡਰਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰ ਮੰਨਿਆ।
The lover had no doubt that the milkman had come to know and,
ਛਾਡਿਗਾਵਤਿਹਅਨਤਸਿਧਾਯੋ॥
ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ
ਬਹੁਰਿਨਤਾਕੋਦਰਸੁਦਿਖਾਯੋ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾ ਵਿਖਾਈ ॥੩॥
Therefore, he was much scared. He abandoned the village and was never seen.(3)

ਰਾਜੋਬਿਛੁਰੇਯਾਰਕੇਚਿਤਮੈਭਈਉਦਾਸ॥
ਯਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੜਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੋ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
Rajo missed her lover and she remained very depressed.
ਨਿਤਿਚਿੰਤਾਮਨਮੈਕਰੈਮੀਤਮਿਲਨਕੀਆਸ॥੪॥
ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਿੱਤ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਚਦੀ ॥੪॥
Dejected, she always desired for a meeting with him.(4)

ਯਹਿਸਭਭੇਦਗੂਜਰਹਿਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੇਦ ਗੁਜਰ ਵੀ ਸਮਝ ਗਿਆ,
ਤਾਸੋਪ੍ਰਗਟਨਕਛੂਬਖਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਆ।
The milkman knew the entire secret but did not disclose.
ਚਿੰਤਾਯਹੇਕਰੀਮਨਮਾਹੀ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਸੋਚ ਕੀਤੀ
