ਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੌਪਲਟਿਬਹੁਰਿਨਹਿਆਵੈ॥
ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ
ਹਨ੍ਯੋਭਾਗਕੇਭਾਰੇਜਾਵੈ॥੧੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਭੰਗ ਦੇ ਭਾੜੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
‘He never returns to his home and is exterminated.(12)

ਉਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਝਦਾ।
‘There is no way to go in,
ਚਲਹੁਦੇਗਮੈਬੈਠਿਕੈਜਾਤੇਲਖ੍ਯੋਨਜਾਇ॥੧੩॥
ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੋ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਵੇਖੇ ਨਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੋ ॥੧੩॥
‘You must come hidden in a cooking-vessel so that no one can observe.(13)

ਬੇਗਮਜਬਤੇਤੁਮੈਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਖਾਨਪਾਨਸਭਕਛੁਬਿਸਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਖਾਣਾ ਪੀਣਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
‘Since the Rani saw you, she has abandoned eating and drinking.
ਲਗਨਲਗੈਬਿਹਬਲਹ੍ਵੈਗਈ॥
ਤੇ (ਤੁਹਾਡੇ) ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲਗ ਜਾਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਿਹਬਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੋਛਾਡਿਦਿਵਾਨੀਭਈ॥੧੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
‘In this devotion, she has lost her senses, and by renouncing to live, she is getting mad.(14)
ਸੀਸਫੂਲਸਿਰਪਰਜਬਧਾਰੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ (ਉਹ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਫੁਲ ਚੌਕ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਕੋਟਿਸੂਰਜਨੁਚੜੇਸਵਾਰੈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਮਾਨੋ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹੋਣ।
‘With the bouquet of flowers upon her head, she radiates like the Sun.
ਜਬਬਿਹਸਿਕੈਬਿਰੀਚਬਾਵੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ (ਉਹ) ਹਸ ਕੇ ਪਾਨ ਦਾ ਬੀੜਾ ਚਬਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਦੇਖੀਪੀਕਕੰਠਮਹਿਜਾਵੈ॥੧੫॥
ਤਾਂ ਗਲੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਪੀਕ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
‘When, smiling, she swallows the juice of beetle-nut, it glorifies her throat.(15)

ਹਜਰਤਿਤਿਹਪੂਛੇਬਿਨਾਕਛੂਨਉਚਰਤਬੈਨ॥
ਹਜ਼ਰਤ (ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁਛੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ।
‘The Raja never undertakes any tasks without her consent.
ਲਾਲਭਏਬਿਸਪਾਲਮਨਹੇਰਿਬਾਲਕੇਨੈਨ॥੧੬॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਬੇਗਮ) ਦੇ ਨੈਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ('ਬਿਸਪਾਲ') ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਲੋ ਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
‘Looking into her eyes, even the Cupid starts blushing.(16)
ਤਾਕੋਤੁਮਰੋਰੂਪਲਖਿਪੁਲਿਕਿਪਸੀਜ੍ਰਯੋਅੰਗ॥
ਤੇਰਾ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਪੁਲਕਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਸੀਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
‘After having your vision, her body is drenched in sweat,
ਬੇਸੰਭਾਰਭੂਅਪੈਗਿਰੀਜਨੁਕਰਿਡਸ੍ਰਯੋਭੁਜੰਗ॥੧੭॥
ਬੇਸੁਧ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ, ਮਾਨੋ ਸੱਪ ਨੇ ਡੰਗ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੭॥
‘And she drops down on the floor as if a reptile has bitten her.’(17)
ਖਾਨਸੁਨਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਬਾਤਕੌਮਨਮਹਿਭਯੋਖੁਸਾਲ॥
ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ (ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ।
On listening to the oration of the woman, Khan was very mush excited,
ਜ੍ਯੋਤੁਮਕਹੌਂਤਿਵੈਚਲੌਂਮਿਲੌਂਜਾਇਤਤਕਾਲ॥੧੮॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਿਆ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਹੇਂਗੀ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਲਾਂਗਾ (ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਮਿਲਾਂਗਾ ॥੧੮॥
(And said) ‘I will do whatever you say and will go to meet her.’(18)
ਚੌਪਈ॥

ਯਹਜੜਬਾਤਸੁਨਤਹਰਖਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਦੁਰਬਲਹੁਤੋਪੁਸਟਹ੍ਵੈਗਯੋ॥
(ਉਹ ਭਾਵੇਂ) ਲਿੱਸਾ ਸੀ, (ਪਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਤਕੜਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
The fool, after heeding to all that, became very happy and got ready to proceed,
ਜੌਤੁਮਕਹੌਸੁਕਾਜਕਮੈਯੈ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ) ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਕਹੇਂਗੀ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
ਬੇਗਮਸੀਭੋਗਨਕਹਪੈਯੈ॥੧੯॥
(ਹੁਣੇ) ਬੇਗਮ ਵਰਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ॥੧੯॥
‘What ever the way you suggest, I will do and make love with the Rani.(19)

ਹਜਰਤਿਜਾਕੀਮੂਰਤਿਲਖਿਰਹਿਯੋਪ੍ਰੇਮਸੌਪਾਗ॥
(ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ ਸੋਚਣ ਲਗਾ) ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੂਰਤ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
‘With whose beauty, the Emperor is enchanted, she is enmeshed in my love,
ਸੋਹਮਸੋਅਟਕਤਭਈਧੰਨ੍ਯਹਮਾਰੇਭਾਗ॥੨੦॥
ਉਹ (ਬੇਗਮ) ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਧੰਨ ਭਾਗ ਹਨ ॥੨੦॥
‘I think it my greatest luck and honour.’(20)

ਯਹਸੁਨਿਭੇਦਚਿਤਮਹਿਰਾਖ੍ਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਭੇਦ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਖਿਆ
ਔਰਮਿਤ੍ਰਤਨਪ੍ਰਗਟਨਭਾਖ੍ਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਨਾ ਦਸਿਆ।
He kept the secret in his heart and did not divulge to any friend.
ਪ੍ਰਥਮਦੇਗਮੈਬਸਤ੍ਰਬਿਛਯੋ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਛਾਇਆ।
ਤਾਮੈਬੈਠਿਆਪੁਪੁਨਿਗਯੋ॥੨੧॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੧॥
He spread a sheet in the cooking-vessel and, then, took his seat in there.(21)

ਖਾਨਤਿਹਾਰੌਰੂਪਲਖਿਬੇਗਮਰਹੀਲੁਭਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਖ਼ਾਨ! ਤੇਰਾ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬੇਗਮ ਲੋਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
(And he was told again) ‘Khan, the Begum has been bewitched by your looks,
ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾਕੋਛਾਡਿਕੈਤੋਪਰਗਈਬਿਕਾਇ॥੨੨॥
ਸ਼ਾਹਜਹਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
‘And sacrificing the Emperor Shah Jehan, she has sold herself to you.(22)

ਤੌਨਪਠਾਨਦੇਗਮਹਿਡਾਰਿਸ॥
(ਸਖੀ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਪਠਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ
ਲੈਹਜਰਤਿਗ੍ਰਿਹਓਰਸਿਧਾਰਸ॥
ਅਤੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਲ ਤੁਰ ਪਈ।
She placed him in the cooking-vessel and took him to the palace of the Emperor.
ਦੇਖਤਲੋਗਸਭੈਤਹਜਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ (ਦੇਗ) ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ,
ਵਾਕੌਭੇਦਨਕੋਊਪਾਵੈ॥੨੩॥
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਪਾ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੨੩॥
People saw that being taken there but no one could suspect the secret.(23)
ਲੈਬੇਗਮਕੇਪਾਸਉਤਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇਗ ਨੂੰ) ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬੇਗਮ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ।
ਬੇਗਮਤਾਕੋਦਾਰਿਦਮਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ (ਸਖੀ ਦੀ) ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ (ਅਰਥਾਤ-ਬਹੁਤ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ)।
She (maid) got it replaced near the Rani, and the Rani made her wealthy.
ਸਖੀਭੇਜਪਤਿਲਯੋਬੁਲਾਈ॥
ਸਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ (ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ) ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ
ਕਾਨਲਾਗਿਕੈਬਾਤਜਤਾਈ॥੨੪॥
ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗ ਕੇ (ਸਾਰੀ) ਗੱਲ ਦਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨੪॥
She sent her to call her husband and revealed the secret in his ears.(24)
