ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤਿਆ
Raja, once again adorned Royal attire,
ਬਹੁਰਆਪਨੌਰਾਜਕਮਾਯੋ॥੯੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੯੭॥
Came back and commenced his rule.(97)

ਜਿਯਤੇਜੁਗਿਯਾਮਾਰਿਯੋਭੂਅਕੇਬਿਖੈਗਡਾਇ॥
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਖੇਡ ਕੇ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਗਡ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
An alive yogi was killed and buried in the ground,
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੋਬਹੁਰਾਇਯੋਐਸੇਚਰਿਤਬਨਾਇ॥੯੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੯੮॥
And through her Chritar, the Rani got the Raja back on his throne.(98)

ਜਹਾਗੀਰਆਦਿਲਮਰਿਗਯੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼-ਪਸੰਦ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ
ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾਹਜਰਤਿਜੂਭਯੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਹਜਹਾਨ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣਿਆ।
When (Mughal) Emperor Jehangir died, his son took over the throne.
ਦਰਿਯਾਖਾਪਰਅਧਿਕਰਿਸਾਯੌ॥
(ਉਹ) ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਮਾਰਨਚਹਿਯੋਹਾਥਨਹਿਆਯੌ॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ, (ਪਰ ਉਹ) ਹੱਥ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
Be was very angry with Dariya Khan and desired to kill him.(1)

ਤਿਹਹਜਰਤਿਮਾਰਨਚਹੈਹਾਥਨਆਵੈਨਿਤ॥
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਿੱਤ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
The prince wanted to kill him but he could not lay hands on him,
ਰਾਤਿਦਿਵਸਜਾਗਤਉਠਤਬਸਤਸੋਵਤੇਚਿਤ॥੨॥
ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ, ਸੌਂਦਿਆਂ ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
And this digression tormented him day and night, whether sleeping or awake.(2)
ਸਾਹਜਹਾਜੂਪਲੰਘਪਰਸੋਤਉਠਿਯੋਬਰਰਾਇ॥
ਸ਼ਾਹਜਹਾਨ ਪਲੰਘ ਤੇ ਸੁਤਿਆਂ ਸੁਤਿਆਂ ਬਰੜਾ ਉਠਦਾ ਸੀ
The Prince while sleeping on the adorned bed, would get up abruptly,
ਦਰਿਯਾਖਾਕੋਮਾਰਿਯੋਕਰਿਕੈਕ੍ਰੋਰਿਉਪਾਇ॥੩॥
ਕਿ 'ਅਨੇਕ ਯਤਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓ' ॥੩॥
And shout to get Dariya Khan, dead or alive.(3)

ਸੋਵਤਸਾਹਜਹਾਬਰਰਾਯੋ॥
(ਇਕ ਰਾਤ) ਸੁਤਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਹਜਹਾਨ ਬਰੜਾਇਆ
ਜਾਗਤਹੁਤੀਬੇਗਮਸੁਨਿਪਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਿਆ।
Once in the sleep the Prince mumbled, and the Rani, who was awake, heard.
ਚਿੰਤਕਰੀਸਤ੍ਰੁਕੌਮਾਰਿਯੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ
ਪਤਕੋਸੋਕਸੰਤਾਪਨਿਵਾਰਿਯੈ॥੪॥
ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਦੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
She pondered over how to kill the enemy and get her husband out of affliction.(4)
ਬੇਗਮਬਾਚ॥
ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ:

ਟੂੰਬਪਾਵਹਜਰਤਹਿਜਗਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਪੈਰ ਟੁੰਬ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਇਆ
ਤੀਨਕੁਰਨਸੈਕਰਿਸਿਰਨ੍ਯਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਇਆ।
She gently awoke the prince and paid her obeisance three times.
ਜੋਤੁਮਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਮੈਬੀਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਚ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ
ਦਰਿਯਾਖਾਕਹਜਾਨਹੁਮਾਰਿਯੋ॥੫॥
ਕਿ ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨੋ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
‘I have thought about what you said about the terminating of Dariya Khan,(5)

ਮੁਸਕਿਲਹਨਨਹਰੀਫਕੋਕਬਹੁਨਆਵੈਦਾਵ॥
(ਸੂਝਵਾਨ) ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਦਾਓ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸਦਾ।
‘It is not easy to finish an intelligent enemy.
ਜੜਕੋਕਹਾਸੰਘਾਰਿਬੈਜਾਕੋਰਿਝਲਸੁਭਾਵ॥੬॥
(ਪਰ) ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ (ਕੀ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾ ਜਲਦੀ ਰੀਝ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੬॥
‘Only the simpleton, who is very naive, is easy to annihilate.’(6)

ਸ੍ਯਾਨੀਸਖੀਬੁਲਾਇਪਠਈਮੰਤ੍ਰਸਿਖਾਇਕੈ॥
(ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ) ਇਕ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਸਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝਾ ਕੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ
She called an astute maid, trained her and then sent her away,
ਦਰਿਆਖਾਕੋਜਾਇਲ੍ਯਾਵਹੁਚਰਿਤਬਨਾਇਕੈ॥੭॥
ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆਓ ॥੭॥

ਸਿਆਣੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਾਰੀ (ਗੱਲ) ਸਮਝ ਗਈ
ਦਰਿਯਾਖਾਕੇਜਾਤਗ੍ਰਿਹਭਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ।
The wise maid understood everything and went to the house of Dariya Khan.
ਗੋਸੇਬੈਠਿਸੁਮੰਤ੍ਰਬਤਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕਾਂਤ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਗੱਲ ਦਸੀ
ਤਵਗ੍ਰਿਹਮੈਬੇਗਮਹਿਪਠਾਯੋ॥੮॥
ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
She sat down with him in seclusion and told that the Rani had sent her.(8)

ਰੂਪਤਿਹਾਰੋਹੇਰਿਕੈਬੇਗਮਰਹੀਲੁਭਾਇ॥
ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬੇਗਮ ਲੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
‘Admiring your handsomeness, the Rani has fallen in love with you,
ਹੇਤਤਿਹਾਰੇਮਿਲਨਕੇਮੋਕਹਦਯੋਪਠਾਇ॥੯॥
ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
‘And with a desire to meet you she has sent me.’(9)
ਹਜਰਤਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਚੋਰਿਚਿਤਕਹਾਫਿਰਤਹੋਐਠਿ॥
ਹੇ ਹਜ਼ਰਤ! ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਚਿਤ ਚੁਰਾ ਕੇ (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਕਿਥੇ ਆਕੜੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹੋ।
‘Your honour, sir, after stealing a woman’s heart,
ਬੇਗਿਬੁਲਾਯੋਬੇਗਮਹਿਚਲਹੁਦੇਗਮਹਿਬੈਠ॥੧੦॥
ਬੇਗਮ ਨੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ (ਉਥੇ) ਚਲੋ ॥੧੦॥
Why are you showing undue pride.’(10)
ਛਾਰਿਯਾਉਰਦਾਬੇਗਨੀਖੋਜੇਜਹਾਅਨੇਕ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਚੋਬਦਾਰ, ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਅੰਗ ਰਖਿਅਕ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ('ਉਰਦਾ ਬੇਗਨੀ') ਅਤੇ ਖੋਜੇ (ਖੁਸਰੇ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ,
‘You come there, where there are numerous mace bearers and researchers.
ਪੰਖੀਫਟਕਿਸਕੈਨਹੀਪਹੁਚੈਮਨੁਖਨਏਕ॥੧੧॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਨਾ ਪੰਛੀ ਫੜਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
‘But no strangers, not even the birds can interfere.(11)

ਕਾਹੂਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਤਹਾਜੋਪਰੈ॥
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਉਥੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਟੂਟਟੂਟਹਜਰਤਿਤਿਹਕਰੈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
