ਮਰਤੀਬਾਰਬਚਨਯੌਕਹਿਯੋ॥
ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਨ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਸੋਮੈਦ੍ਰਿੜੁਕਰਿਜਿਯਮਹਿਗਹਿਯੋ॥੩੦॥
ਉਹ ਮੈਂ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਏ ਹਨ ॥੩੦॥
‘Whatever he pronounced at the time of his death, I am determined to carry on.(30)
ਮੋਰੀਕਹੀਭੂਪਸੌਕਹਿਯਹੁ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ) ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਦੇਣਾ
ਤੁਮਬੈਠੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਹੀਮੈਰਹਿਯਹੁ॥
ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ।
‘He told me to tell Raja that to stay at home,
ਇਨਰਾਨਿਨਕੌਤਾਪੁਨਦੀਜਹੁ॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ
ਰਾਜਿਜੋਗਦੋਨੋਹੀਕੀਜਹੁ॥੩੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੧॥
‘Not to keep the Ranis in adversity and not to abandon the kingship.(31)
ਪੁਨਿਮੋਸੋਇਕਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੋ॥
ਫਿਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਹੀ
ਜੌਨ੍ਰਿਪਕਹਿਯੋਨਕਰੈਤਿਹਾਰੋ॥
ਕਿ ਜੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕਹੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ;
‘Then he told me that, if Raja refused to obey”
ਤਬਪਾਛੇਯਹਬਚਨਉਚਰਿਯਹੁ॥
ਤਦ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣਾ
ਰਾਜਾਜੂਕੇਤਪਕਹਹਰਿਯਹੁ॥੩੨॥
ਕਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਤਪ ਹਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੩੨॥
‘Then, I should make clear to him that all the benefits of his meditation will be revoked.’(32)
ਜੋਤਿਨਕਹੀਸੁਪਾਛੇਕਹਿਹੌ॥
ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਹੋਰ ਕਿਹਾ) ਉਹ ਬਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਕਹਾਂਗੀ
ਤੁਮਰੇਸਕਲਭਰਮਕੋਦਹਿਹੌ॥
ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗੀ।
‘What else he told me, I will convey to you later on. First I will eradicate all your whims.
ਅਬਸੁਨਿਲੈਤੈਬਚਨਹਮਾਰੋ॥
ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ
ਜਾਤੇਰਹਿਹੈਰਾਜਤਿਹਾਰੋ॥੩੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਰਾਜ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੇ ॥੩੩॥
‘Now, if you acted upon what I communicated to you, your rule will continue.(33)

ਸੁਤਬਾਲਕਤਰੁਨੀਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਤੈਤ੍ਯਾਗਤਸਭਸਾਜ॥
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਬਾਲਕ, ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਠਾਠ ਬਾਠ ਛਡ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।
‘You are leaving behind your offspring, son, and youthful wife,
ਸਭਬਿਧਿਕੀਯੋਕਸੂਤਿਗ੍ਰਿਹਕ੍ਯੋਕਰਿਰਹਸੀਰਾਜ॥੩੪॥
ਸਭ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਕਸੂਤਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜ (ਭਲਾ) ਕਿਵੇਂ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੩੪॥
‘You tell me, how your rule could continue.(34)
ਪੂਤਪਰੇਲੋਟਤਧਰਨਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਪਰੀਬਿਲਲਾਇ॥
ਪੁੱਤਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਲੋਟ ਪੋਟ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,
Offspring are rolling around on the ground, wife is crying,
ਬੰਧੁਭ੍ਰਿਤਰੋਦਨਕਰੈਰਾਜਬੰਸਤੇਜਾਇ॥੩੫॥
ਭਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਰੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਬੰਸ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੫॥
‘The servants and the relatives are weeping, who will now rule over?’(35)

ਚੇਲੇਸਭੈਅਨੰਦਿਤਭਏ॥
(ਜੋਗੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਆਨੰਦਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
ਦੁਰਬਲਹੁਤੇਪੁਸਟਹ੍ਵੈਗਏ॥
ਉਹ ਦੁਰਬਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ, (ਹੁਣ) ਤਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
(On the other side) The disciples were getting very happy, and the weaklings were getting plump.
ਨਾਥਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿਜੋਗੀਕਰਿਲਯੈਹੌ॥
(ਉਹ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ) ਜੋਗੀ-ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਜੋਗੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਏਗਾ
ਦ੍ਵਾਰਦ੍ਵਾਰਕੇਟੂਕਮੰਗੈਹੈ॥੩੬॥
ਅਤੇ (ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ) ਦੁਆਰ ਦੁਆਰ ਤੇ ਭਿਖ ਮੰਗੇਗਾ ॥੩੬॥
(They were thinking) ‘Yogi, soon, will bring Raja along and send him for begging food from door to door.(36)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਨ੍ਰਿਪਕਹਜੋਗੀਭੇਸਦੈਕਬਹੀਲਿਯੈਹੈਨਾਥ॥
(ਉਹ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਸਾਡਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਜੋਗੀ ਭੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਲਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
‘Raja must be coming wearing the garb of yogi and accompanying the Nath Yogi.’
ਯੌਮੂਰਖਜਾਨੈਨਹੀਕਹਾਭਈਤਿਹਸਾਥ॥੩੭॥
(ਪਰ ਉਹ) ਮੂਰਖ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਬੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
But the fools did not know what had happened to the Yogi.(37)
ਸੁਤਬਾਲਕਤਰੁਨੀਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਕ੍ਯੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਛਾਡਤਮੋਹਿ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਛਡ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? (ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ) ਬਾਲਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਇਸਤਰੀ
The offspring, sons, young ladies and maid, all were begging Raja not to leave.
ਚੇਰੀਸਭਰੋਦਨਕਰੈਦਯਾਨਉਪਜਤਤੋਹਿ॥੩੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਰੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ (ਕੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੩੮॥
They all were crying and asking, ‘Why are you leaving us. Don’t you take pity on us?’(38)
ਸੁਨੁਰਾਨੀਤੋਸੋਕਹੋਬ੍ਰਹਮਗ੍ਯਾਨਕੋਭੇਦ॥
(ਰਾਜਾ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ-) ਹੇ ਰਾਣੀ! ਸੁਣ, (ਮੈਂ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਦਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ
(Raja replied) ‘Listen, you the Ranis,
ਜੁਕਛੁਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਹਤਔਰਉਚਾਰਤਬੇਦ॥੩੯॥
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ, ਸਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਦ ਦਸਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੯॥
I will tell you through the wisdom of Vedas.(39)
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:

ਸੁਤਹਿਤਕੈਮਾਤਾਦੁਲਰਾਵੈ॥
ਮਾਤਾ ਹਿਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਿਡਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਲਮੂਡਪਰਦਾਤਬਜਾਵੈ॥
ਪਰ ਮੌਤ ('ਕਾਲ') ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਖੜੋਤੀ ਦੰਦ ਪੀਹ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
‘Mother is jovially making the child to play but the death is over shadowing.
ਵੁਹਨਿਤਲਖੇਪੂਤਬਢਿਜਾਵਤ॥
ਮਾਤਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਲੈਨਨਮੂੜਕਾਲਨਿਜਕਾਵਤ॥੪੦॥
(ਪਰ ਉਹ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੪੦॥
‘She is happy to see the child growing but she does not envisage the death coming nearer and nearer.(40)

ਕੋਮਾਤਾਬਨਿਤਾਸੁਤਾਪਾਚਤਤਕੀਦੇਹ॥
ਕੌਣ ਮਾਤਾ, ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਹੈ? (ਅਸਲੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਪੰਜ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਹੈ।
‘What are mother, wife, and offspring? They are just the embodiment
ਦਿਵਸਚਾਰਕੋਪੇਖਨੋਅੰਤਖੇਹਕੀਖੇਹ॥੪੧॥
ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਦਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ('ਪੇਖਨੋ') ਹੈ, ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ (ਰਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੪੧॥
Of five elements, which at the end are bound to parish.(41)

ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀਜਨਮਪ੍ਰਥਮਜਬਆਵੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜਨਮ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਾਲਾਪਨਮੈਜਨਮੁਗਵਾਵੈ॥
ਤਾਂ (ਉਹ) ਬਚਪਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਗੰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
‘When a human being is born, he loses his childhood at the birth.
ਤਰੁਨਾਪਨਬਿਖਿਯਨਕੈਕੀਨੋ॥
ਜਵਾਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਕਬਹੁਨਬ੍ਰਹਮਤਤੁਕੋਚੀਨੋ॥੪੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਤੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੪੨॥
‘During youth, he indulges in merry-makings and never tries to realise his roots.( 42)

ਬਿਰਧਭਏਤਨੁਕਾਪਈਨਾਮੁਨਜਪਿਯੋਜਾਇ॥
ਬਿਰਧ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਕੰਬਣ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
‘When he gets old, his body starts shaking as he had not meditated on the Name,
ਬਿਨਾਭਜਨਭਗਵਾਨਕੇਪਾਪਗ੍ਰਿਹਤਤਨਆਇ॥੪੩॥
ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਾਪ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਸ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪੩॥
‘And, being lacking the Godly prayer, the vices over powers him.(43)
ਮਿਰਤੁਲੋਕਮੈਆਇਕੈਬਾਲਬ੍ਰਿਧਕੋਊਹੋਇ॥
ਮਿਰਤ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਬਿਰਧ,
