ਘੋਰਾਕਹੂੰਭਯੋਕਹੂੰਹਾਥੀਹ੍ਵੈਕੈਗਯੋਕਹੂੰਪੰਛੀਰੂਪਲਯੋਕਹੂੰਫਲਫੂਲਰਹਿਯੋਹੈ॥
ਕਿਤੇ ਘੋੜਾ, ਕਿਤੇ ਹਾਥੀ, ਕਿਤੇ ਪੰਛੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਫਲ ਫੁਲ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
‘Sometimes He manifests in horses, sometimes in elephants, and sometimes in cows, ‘Sometimes He is there in birds and sometimes in flora,
ਪਾਵਕਹ੍ਵੈਦਹਿਯੋਕਹੂੰਪੌਨਰੂਪਕਹਿਯੋਕਹੂੰਚੀਤਹ੍ਵੈਕੈਗਹਿਯੋਕਹੂੰਪਾਨੀਹ੍ਵੈਕੈਬਹਿਯੋਹੈ॥
ਕਿਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਸਾੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਤੇ ਪਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਤੇ ਚਿਤਰਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਹਿਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਕੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
‘He burns in the shape of fire and then comes over as air, ‘Sometimes he dwells in the minds and sometimes flows in the shape of water.
ਅੰਬਰਉਤਾਰੇਰਾਵਨਾਦਿਕਸੰਘਾਰੇਕਹੂੰਬਨਮੈਬਿਹਾਰੇਐਸੇਬੇਦਨਮੈਕਹਿਯੋਹੈ॥
ਕਿਤੇ (ਰਾਮ ਵਾਂਗ) ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਉਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਾਵਣ ਦਾ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
‘Sometimes comes down from heaven to annihilate Rawana (devil), ‘In the jungles, which is described in Vedas too.
ਪੁਰਖਹ੍ਵੈਆਪੁਕਹੂੰਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਨਕੋਰੂਪਧਰਿਯੋਮੂਰਖਨਭੇਦਤਾਕੋਨੈਕਹੂੰਨਲਹਿਯੋਹੈ॥੧੮॥
ਕਿਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
‘Somewhere He is a man and somewhere He takes the shape of woman. ‘Only the fools cannot perceive his mysteries.(18)
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:

ਕਵਨਮਰੈਕਾਕੋਕੋਊਮਾਰੈ॥
ਕੌਣ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਭੂਲਾਲੋਕਭਰਮਬੀਚਾਰੈ॥
ਭੁਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
‘Whom does He kill and why, the innocent people cannot grasp.
ਯਹਨਮਰਤਮਾਰਤਹੈਨਾਹੀ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੋ
ਯੌਰਾਜਾਸਮਝਹੁਮਨਮਾਹੀ॥੧੯॥
ਕਿ ਨਾ ਇਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥
‘Neither He kills nor he dies, and you try to acquiesce this, Oh Raja.(19)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥
ਦੋਹਰਾ:

ਬਿਨਾਨਾਮਤਾਕੇਜਪੇਬਾਲਬ੍ਰਿਧਕੋਊਹੋਇ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਪੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਲ ਅਥਵਾ ਬਿਰਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ।
‘The old and the young, all should meditate on him,
ਰਾਵਰੰਕਰਾਜਾਸਭੈਜਿਯਤਨਰਹਸੀਕੋਇ॥੨੦॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਕ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ॥੨੦॥
‘(Without his name) the rulers or the subject, nothing will remain.(20)
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:

ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁਜੋਜਿਯਲਖਿਪਾਵੈ॥
ਜੋ (ਵਿਅਕਤੀ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾਕੇਕਾਲਨਿਕਟਨਹਿਆਵੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਕਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ।
‘Those who recognise Satnam, the angel of death comes not near them,
ਬਿਨਾਨਾਮਤਾਕੇਜੋਰਹਿਹੈ॥
ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ)
ਬਨਗਿਰਪੁਰਮੰਦਰਸਭਢਹਿਹੈ॥੨੧॥
ਬਨ, ਪਰਬਤ, ਨਗਰ, ਮਹੱਲ (ਮੰਦਿਰ) ਸਭ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੨੧॥
‘And without his Name all the jungles, mountains, mansions, and towns face destruction.(21)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਚਕਿਯਾਕੈਸੇਪਟਬਨੇਗਗਨਭੂਮਿਪੁਨਿਦੋਇ॥
ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਚੱਕੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੜਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
‘The sky and the earth are like two grinding stones.
ਦੁਹੂੰਪੁਰਨਮੈਆਇਕੈਸਾਬਿਤਗਯਾਨਕੋਇ॥੨੨॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪੁੜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਬਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
‘Coming any thing in between is saved not.(22)
ਚੌਪਈ॥

ਸਤਿਨਾਮਜੋਪੁਰਖਪਛਾਨੈ॥
ਜੋ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਤਿਨਾਮਲੈਬਚਨਪ੍ਰਮਾਨੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ (ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ) ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਕ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ।
‘Those who accept Satnam, Satnam prevails in their eloquence.
ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁਮਾਰਗਲੈਚਲਹੀ॥
ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉਤੇ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾਕੋਕਾਲਨਕਬਹੂੰਦਲਹੀ॥੨੩॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੨੩॥
‘They proceed on the way of Satnam and the demons of death do not trouble them.’(23)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਐਸੇਬਚਨਨਸੁਨਤਹੀਰਾਜਾਭਯੋਉਦਾਸੁ॥
ਇਹ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
Listening to such exposition, Raja became depressed,
ਭੂਮਿਦਰਬੁਘਰਰਾਜਤੇਚਿਤਮੈਭਯੋਨਿਰਾਸੁ॥੨੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਭੂਮੀ, ਧਨ, ਘਰ, ਰਾਜ ਆਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੪॥
And was dejected with the temporal life, home, wealth, and sovereignty.(24)
ਜਬਰਾਨੀਐਸੇਸੁਨਿਯੋਦੁਖਤਭਈਮਨਮਾਹ॥
ਜਦ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋਈ।
When the Rani heard all this, she felt afflicted,
ਦੇਸਦਰਬੁਗ੍ਰਿਹਛਾਡਿਕੈਜਾਤਲਖਿਯੋਨਰਨਾਹ॥੨੫॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼, ਧਨ, ਘਰ ਆਦਿ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ॥੨੫॥
As she learnt that Raja was going away leaving the kingdom, wealth and the home.(25)
ਤਬਰਾਨੀਅਤਿਦੁਖਿਤਹ੍ਵੈਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਲਯੋਬੁਲਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਅਤਿ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ (ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ)
When Rani was in extreme distress; she called in the Minister.
ਕ੍ਯੋਹੂੰਨ੍ਰਿਪਗ੍ਰਿਹਰਾਖਿਯੈਕੀਜੈਕਛੂਉਪਾਇ॥੨੬॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਰਖਣ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਉਪਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ॥੨੬॥
She asked him to suggest her some resolve so that Raja could be kept at home.(26)
ਚੌਪਈ॥

ਤਬਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਇਮਿਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਨ ਕਹੇ,
ਸੁਨੁਰਾਨੀਤੈਮੰਤ੍ਰਹਮਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਣੀ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੋ।
Then the minister suggested like this, ‘Rani, listen to your minister,
ਐਸੋਜਤਨਆਜੁਹਮਕਰਿਹੈ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਅਜ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਗ੍ਰਿਹਰਾਖਿਜੋਗਿਯਹਿਮਰਿਹੈ॥੨੭॥
ਕਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਰਖ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੨੭॥
‘I will, today, proceed in such a way that I will keep the Raja at home and terminate the Yogi.(27)
ਰਾਨੀਜੋਹੌਕਹੌਸੁਕਰਿਯਹੁ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਣੀ! ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ
ਰਾਜਾਜੂਤੇਨੈਕਨਡਰਿਯਹੁ॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਡਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
‘Aye, Rani, you do what I say, and do not be afraid of Raja.
ਯਾਜੁਗਿਯਾਕਹਧਾਮਬੁਲੈਯਹੁ॥
ਇਸ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾਓ
ਲੌਨਡਾਰਿਭੂਅਮਾਝਗਡੈਯਹੁ॥੨੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਲੂਣ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਦਬ ਦਿਓ ॥੨੮॥
‘You call the Yogi at home, cover him with salt and bury him in the ground.’(28)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਤਬਰਾਨੀਤਯੋਹੀਕਿਯੋਜੁਗਿਯਹਿਲਯੋਬੁਲਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
The Rani acted accordingly and called the Yogi at home.
ਲੌਨਡਾਰਿਭੂਅਖੋਦਿਕੈਗਹਿਤਿਹਦਯੋਦਬਾਇ॥੨੯॥
ਧਰਤੀ ਪੁਟ ਕੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੂਣ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਗਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੯॥
She caught him, smeared salt on him and buried him in the ground.(29)
ਚੌਪਈ॥

ਜਾਇਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਪਤਿਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੇ॥
(ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ
ਜੁਗਿਯਮਾਟੀਲਈਤਿਹਾਰੇ॥
ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਉਪਰ) ਮਿੱਟੀ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ)।
Then she approached Raja and told, ‘The Yogi has died,
