ਬਾਹਕਟੀਅਧਬੀਚਤੇਸੁੰਡਸੀਸੋਉਪਮਾਕਵਿਨੇਬਰਨੀਹੈ॥
ਸੁੰਡ ਵਰਗੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਅੱਧ ਵਿਚਾਲਿਓਂ ਕਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਪਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਜ ਸੁਝੀ ਹੈ,
The arm like the trunk of the elephant hath been cut in the middle and the poet hath depicted it like this,
ਆਪਸਿਮੈਲਰਕੈਸੁਮਨੋਗਿਰਿਤੇਗਿਰੀਸਰਪਕੀਦੁਇਘਰਨੀਹੈ॥੧੪੪॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਪਰਬਤ ਉਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਨਾਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਪਤਨੀਆਂ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਈਆਂ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੪੪॥
That fighting with each other two she-serpents hath dropped doen.144.,

ਸਕਲਪ੍ਰਬਲਦਲਦੈਤਕੋਚੰਡੀਦਇਓਭਜਾਇ॥
ਦੈਂਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ (ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਭਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
Chandi hath caused all the mighty army of the demons to run away.,
ਪਾਪਤਾਪਹਰਿਜਾਪਤੇਜੈਸੇਜਾਤਪਰਾਇ॥੧੪੫॥
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰਿ-ਜਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੪੫॥
Just as with the remembrance of the Name of the Loard, the sins and sufferings are removed.145.,

SWAYYA,
ਭਾਨੁਤੇਜਿਉਤਮਪਉਨਤੇਜਿਉਘਨੁਮੋਰਤੇਜਿਉਫਨਿਤਿਉਸੁਕਚਾਨੇ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਹਨੇਰਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਦਲ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੋਰ ਤੋਂ ਫਨੀਅਰ ਡਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਸੁੰਗੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)
The demons were frightened from the goddess like the darkness from sun, like the clouds from the wind and the snake from the peacock.,
ਸੂਰਤੇਕਾਤੁਰੁਕੂਰਤੇਚਾਤੁਰੁਸਿੰਘਤੇਸਾਤੁਰਏਣਿਡਰਾਨੇ॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਇਰ, ਝੂਠ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਹਿਰਨ ('ਏਣਿ') ਤੁਰਤ ('ਸਾਤੁਰ') ਭੈਭੀਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Just like the cowards from the heroes, falsehood from the truth and the deer from the lion become fearful immediately.,
ਸੂਮਤੇਜਿਉਜਸੁਬਿਓਗਤੇਜਿਉਰਸੁਪੂਤਕਪੂਤਤੇਜਿਉਬੰਸੁਹਾਨੇ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੰਜੂਸ ਤੋਂ ਯਸ਼, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਯੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੁਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਨਦਾਨ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
Just as the praise from the miser, bliss from separation and the family from a bad son are destroyed.,
ਧਰਮਜਿਉਕ੍ਰੁਧਤੇਭਰਮਸੁਬੁਧਤੇਚੰਡਕੇਜੁਧਤੇਦੈਤਪਰਾਨੇ॥੧੪੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤੋਂ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ, ਸੁਬੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਭਰਮ (ਭਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਵੇਂ) ਚੰਡੀ ਦੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਦੈਂਤ ਨਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੪੬॥
Just as the Dharma is destroyed with anger and intellect with illusion, similarly the war and in great anger ran forward.,
ਫੇਰਫਿਰੈਸਭਜੁਧਕੇਕਾਰਨਲੈਕਰਵਾਨਕ੍ਰੁਧਹੁਇਧਾਏ॥
ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ ਫਿਰ ਸਭ ਮੁੜ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ) ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਹਮਲਾਵਰ ਹੋਏ।
The demons returned again for war and in great anger ran forward.,
ਏਕਲੈਬਾਨਕਮਾਨਨਤਾਨਕੈਤੂਰਨਤੇਜਤੁਰੰਗਤੁਰਾਏ॥
ਕਈ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੀਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਸ ਕੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Some of them run their swift horses pulling their bows fitted with arrows.,
ਧੂਰਿਉਡੀਖੁਰਪੂਰਨਤੇਪਥਊਰਧਹੁਇਰਵਿਮੰਡਲਛਾਏ॥
(ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸੁੰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਡੀ ਧੂੜ ਨੇ ਉਪਰਲੇ ਰਸਤੇ (ਆਕਾਸ਼) ਵਿਚ ਪਸਰ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
The dust which hath been created by horses’ hooves and hath gone upwards, hath covered the sun’s sphere.,
ਮਾਨਹੁਫੇਰਰਚੇਬਿਧਿਲੋਕਧਰਾਖਟਆਠਅਕਾਸਬਨਾਏ॥੧੪੭॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਛੇ ਧਰਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਠ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ ॥੧੪੭॥
It seemed that Brahma hath created the fourteen worlds agin with six nether-words and eight skies (because the sphere of dust hath become the eighth sky).147.,
ਚੰਡਪ੍ਰਚੰਡਕੁਵੰਡਲੈਬਾਨਨਿਦੈਤਨਕੇਤਨਤੂਲਿਜਿਉਤੂੰਬੇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੂੰ ਵਾਂਗ ਤੂੰਬੇ ਤੂੰਬੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
Chandi, taking her terrific bow, hath carded like cotton the bodies of the demons with her arrows.,
ਮਾਰਗਇੰਦਦਏਕਰਵਾਰਲੈਦਾਨਵਮਾਨਗਇਓਉਡਪੂੰਬੇ॥
(ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ) ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ (ਦੈਂਤ-ਦਲ ਦੇ) ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। (ਫਲਸਰੂਪ) ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੱਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੁੱਢੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਡ-ਪੁਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
She hath killed the elephants with her sword, because of which the pride of the demons hath flown away like the flakes of akk-plant.,
ਬੀਰਨਕੇਸਿਰਕੀਸਿਤਪਾਗਚਲੀਬਹਿਸ੍ਰੋਨਤਊਪਰਖੂੰਬੇ॥
ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਫ਼ੈਦ ਪਗੜੀਆਂ ਲਹੂ ਉਤੇ ਖੁੰਬਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਹਿ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The white turbans of the heads of warriors flowed in the blood-stream.,
ਮਾਨਹੁਸਾਰਸੁਤੀਕੇਪ੍ਰਵਾਹਮੈਸੂਰਨਕੇਜਸਕੈਉਠੇਬੂੰਬੇ॥੧੪੮॥
(ਇਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਸਰਸਵਤੀ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਯਸ਼ ਦੇ ਬੁਲਬੁਲੇ (ਬੂੰਬੇ) ਉਠ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੪੮॥
It seemed that the current of Saraswati, the bubbles of heroes’ praises are flowing.148.,
ਦੇਤਨਸਾਥਗਦਾਗਹਿਹਾਥਿਸੁਕ੍ਰੁਧਹ੍ਵੈਜੁਧੁਨਿਸੰਗਕਰਿਓਹੈ॥
(ਫਿਰ ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਗਦਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The goddess, taking her mace in her hand, waged a ferocious war against the demons, in great anger.,
ਪਾਨਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਲਏਬਲਵਾਨਸੁਮਾਰਤਬੈਦਲਛਾਰਕਰਿਓਹੈ॥
ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ) ਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Holding her sword in her hand, she mighty Chandika killed and reduced the army of demons to dust.,
ਪਾਗਸਮੇਤਗਿਰਿਓਸਿਰਏਕਕੋਭਾਉਇਹੇਕਬਿਤਾਕੋਧਰਿਓਹੈ॥
ਇਕ ਦੈਂਤ ਦਾ ਪਗੜੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਿਰ ਡਿਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਭਾਵ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਕਵੀ ਨੇ) ਇੰਜ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
Seeing one head falling with turban, the poet imagined,
ਪੂਰਨਿਪੁੰਨਪਏਨਭਤੇਸੁਮਨੋਭੁਅਟੂਟਨਛਤ੍ਰਪਰਿਓਹੈ॥੧੪੯॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਪੁੰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਰਾ (ਨਛੱਤ੍ਰ) ਟੁਟ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੪੯॥
That with the end of the of virtuous actions, a star hath fallen down of earth from the sky.149.,
ਬਾਰਿਦਬਾਰਨਜਿਉਨਿਰਵਾਰਿਮਹਾਬਲਧਾਰਿਤਬੇਇਹਕੀਆ॥
ਤਦ (ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਲ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਦਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੰਡਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
Then the goddess, with her great strength, throwing the big elephants far away like clouds.,
ਪਾਨਿਲੈਬਾਨਕਮਾਨਕੋਤਾਨਿਸੰਘਾਰਸਨੇਹਤੇਸ੍ਰਉਨਤਪੀਆ॥
ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਤੀਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਕਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਿਚ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਨੇਹ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਲਹੂ ਪੀਤਾ।
Holding the arrows in her hand she pulled the bow destroying the demons and drank the blood with great interest.,
