ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਰਾਜ-ਪਾਟ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਮਤੀ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥
After some times Raja died and all the state went under the rule of Inder Mati.(1)

ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਤ ਰਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਉਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
For some time she preserved her righteousness,
ਰਾਜਾਜ੍ਯੋਰਾਜਹਿਕਿਯੋਭਈਮਰਦਕੇਭੇਸ॥੨॥
ਮਰਦ ਦੇ ਭੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੨॥
Masquerading as a male she ruled over effectively.(2)

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਈ ਸਾਲ ਬੀਤ ਗਏ
ਬੈਰੀਅਧਿਕਆਪਨੇਜੀਤੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ।
Years passed by thus, and she won over many enemies.
ਏਕਪੁਰਖਸੁੰਦਰਲਖਿਪਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਇਕ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਰਾਨੀਤਾਸੌਨੇਹਲਗਾਯੋ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਗਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
Once she came across a handsome man, and fell in love with him.(3)
ਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਰਾਨੀਕੋਲਾਗੀ॥
ਰਾਣੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਲਗ ਗਈ
ਛੂਟੈਕਹਾਨਿਗੌਡੀਜਾਗੀ॥
ਜੋ ਚੰਦਰੀ (ਪ੍ਰੀਤ) ਲਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਛੁਟਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
Rani was entangled in this strange affection, which could not be rid off.
ਰੈਨਿਪਰੀਤਿਹਤੁਰਤਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥
ਰਾਤ ਪੈਣ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰਤ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ
ਕੇਲਦੁਹੂੰਨਿਮਿਲਿਅਧਿਕਮਚਾਯੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੪॥
She pretended to be suffering from stomach malady, and no man making love.(4)
ਰਹਤਬਹੁਤਦਿਨਤਾਸੌਭਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਦਿਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ
ਗਰਭਇੰਦ੍ਰਮਤਿਯਹਿਰਹਿਗਯੋ॥
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਮਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਗਰਭ ਠਹਿਰ ਗਿਆ।
When a few days had passed, Inder Mati became pregnant.
ਉਦਰਰੋਗਕੋਨਾਮਨਿਕਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਪੇਟ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਦਸਿਆ
ਕਿਨੂੰਪੁਰਖਨਹਿਭੇਦਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਵੀ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੫॥
She pretended to be suffering from stomach malady, and no man could discern the mystery.(5)
ਨਵਮਾਸਨਬੀਤੇਸੁਤਜਨਿਯੋ॥
ਨੌਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਬੀਤਣ ਤੇ (ਇਕ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਮਾਨੌਆਪੁਮੈਨਸੋਬਨਿਯੋ॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ) ਮਾਨੋ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
After nine months, she gave birth to a son, who looked like the Cupid.
ਏਕਨਾਰਿਕੇਘਰਮੈਧਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਤਾਕੋਧਾਮਦਰਬੁਸੋਭਰਿਯੋ॥੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੬॥
She left him at the house of a lady-friend and gave her lot of wealth.(6)
ਕਾਹੂਕਹੋਬਾਤਇਹਨਾਹੀ॥
'ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿਣੀ'।
ਯੋਕਹਿਫਿਰਿਆਈਘਰਮਾਹੀ॥
ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਘਰ ਪਰਤ ਆਈ।
Reprimanding her not to divulge this to anyone, she returned.
ਦੁਤਿਯਕਾਨਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਹਿਜਾਨਾ॥
ਦੂਜੇ ਕੰਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਨਾ ਹੋਈ
ਕਹਾਕਿਯਾਤਿਯਕਹਾਬਖਾਨਾ॥੭॥
ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਕਿਹਾ ॥੭॥
What did Rani do and said, no body could perceive the circumstances.(7)

ਤਾਕੇਕਛੂਨਧਨਹੁਤੋਦਿਯਾਜਰਾਵੈਧਾਮ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਧਨ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੀਵਾ ਜਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
The one who had no money and no edification,
ਤਾਕੇਘਰਮੈਸੌਪ੍ਯੋਰਾਨੀਕੋਸੁਤਰਾਮ॥੮॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਰਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੮॥
Rani’s son was handed over to that household.(8)

ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਲਗਾਇਆ।
ਤਵਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਦਿਕਸਭੈਬੁਲਾਈ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।
Rani, one day called the court and called all the ladies.
ਜਬਤਿਹਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੇਸੁਤਹਿਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਜਦ (ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਤਾਤੇਲੈਅਪਨੋਕਰਿਪਾਰਿਯੋ॥੯॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਲਿਆ ॥੯॥
She invited the lady with her son as well and in the court she took him and adopted.(9)

ਲੈਪਾਰਕਕਰਿਪਾਲਿਯੋਕਿਨੂੰਨਪਾਯੋਭੇਦ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਾਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ।
She adopted the son and no body could fathom the mystery,
ਰਮਾਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਕੋਸੁਰਅਸੁਰਉਚਰਿਨਸਾਕਹਿਬੇਦ॥੧੦॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ ('ਰਮਾ') ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ (ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ) ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਦੈਂਤ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਦ ਤਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਸ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੧੦॥
And the Female Shastras’ Chritar, even the gods and the demons could not comprehend.(10)(1)

ਕਾਸਮੀਰਕੇਸਹਰਮੈਬੀਰਜਸੈਨਨਰੇਸ॥
ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਰਜ ਸੈਨ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ
In a city in Kashmir, there lived a Raja called Biraj Sen.
ਤਾਕੇਦਲਕੇਬਲਹੁਤੇਕੰਪਤਿਹੁਤੋਸੁਰੇਸ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਲਬਲ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਦਰ ਵੀ ਕੰਬਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
He had such enormous power, that, even, the god Indra dreaded.(1)
ਚਿਤ੍ਰਦੇਵਿਤਾਕੀਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਬੁਰੀਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਜਿਹਬੁਧਿ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਦਾ ਨਾਂ) ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਤੋਂ ਮਾੜੀ ਸੀ।
Chiter Devi was his wife who had spurious intelligence.
ਮੰਦਸੀਲਜਾਕੋਰਹੈਚਿਤਕੀਰਹੈਕੁਸੁਧਿ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਿਤ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਕਬੀ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
She was neither gentle nor good at heart.(2)
ਬੋਲਿਰਸੋਯਹਿਤਿਨਕਹੀਇਹਰਾਜੈਬਿਖਿਦੇਹੁ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਸੋਈਏ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ।
She asked her cook to give poison to the Raja,
ਬਹੁਤੁਬਢੈਹੌਹੌਤੁਮੈਅਬੈਅਧਿਕਧਨਲੇਹੁ॥੩॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਨਤ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਹੁਣੇ ਹੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਧਨ ਲੈ ਲਵੋ ॥੩॥
And, in lieu, she promised to give him lot of wealth.(3)
ਤਾਕੀਕਹੀਨਤਿਨਕਰੀਤਬਤ੍ਰਿਯਚਰਿਤਬਨਾਇ॥
ਜਦ ਉਸ (ਰਸੋਈਏ ਨੇ) (ਰਾਣੀ) ਦਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ, ਤਦ (ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ।
But he did not accede to. Then the woman performed a vile Chritar,
ਰਾਜਾਕੌਨਿਉਤਾਕਹਿਯੋਸਊਅਨਸਹਿਤਬੁਲਾਇ॥੪॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਊਆਂ (ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ) ਸਹਿਤ ਬੁਲਾਣ ਦਾ ਨਿਮੰਤ੍ਰਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪॥
And she invited Raja along with all his ministers for dinner.(4)
