ਜਿਯੋਕਿਯੋਯਾਹਿਬਿਵਾਹਿਕੈਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਅਪੁਨੇਲੈਜਾਹਿ॥੭॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੭॥
As they had pondered to get married with her and take her away.(7)

ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ
ਹਾਥਹਥਯਾਰਨਊਪਰਧਰੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਉਪਰ ਧਰ ਲਏ।
All the princes flew into rage on her decision and put their hands on their arms,
ਕੁਪਿਕੁਪਿਬਚਨਬਕਤ੍ਰਤੇਕਹੈ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬਚਨ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੇ
ਬਿਨੁਰਨਕਿਯੇਆਜੁਨਹਿਰਹੈ॥੮॥
ਕਿ ਅਜ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ ॥੮॥
And declared that, without fight, they would not let her go.(8)
ਰਾਇਪ੍ਰੋਹਿਤਨਲਿਯਾਬੁਲਾਈ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ
ਸੁਭਟਸਿੰਘਪ੍ਰਤਿਦਏਪਠਾਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The Raja called the priest over and invited Subhat Singh.
ਮੋਪਰਕਹੀਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁਕਰਿਯੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ-) ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੋ
ਬੇਦਬਿਧਾਨਸਹਿਤਇਹਬਰਿਯੈ॥੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਵੇਦ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰੋ ॥੯॥
He requested, ‘Be benevolent to me and get married to my daughter as per the Vedic rites.’(9)

ਸੁਭਟਸਿੰਘਐਸੇਕਹੀਤ੍ਰਿਯਮੁਰਆਗੇਏਕ॥
ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਅਗੇ ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੈ।
Subhat Singh, ‘I already possess a woman whom I consider as my wife.
ਬ੍ਯਾਹਦੂਸਰੌਨਕਰੋਜੌਜਨਕਹੈਅਨੇਕ॥੧੦॥
(ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ) ਦੂਜਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕ ਲੋਕ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਕਹਿਣ ॥੧੦॥
‘Therefore, even insisted upon, I will not marry second time.’(10)

ਪ੍ਰੋਹਿਤਭੂਪਤਿਸੌਇਹਉਚਰੈ॥
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ
ਸੁਭਟਸਿੰਘਯਾਕੋਨਹਿਬਰੈ॥
ਕਿ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
The priest told the Raja, ‘Subhat Singh does not want to marry her.
ਤਾਤੇਕਛੂਜਤਨਪ੍ਰਭਕੀਜੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਕੋਈ ਯਤਨ ਕਰੋ
ਇਹਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਅਵਰੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਦੀਜੈ॥੧੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ॥੧੧॥
‘Carryon your efforts and get this princess married to some one else.’(11)

ਤਬਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਐਸੇਕਹੀਬਚਨਪਿਤਾਕੇਸਾਥ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਸ) ਕੰਨਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,
Then the princess told her father,
ਜੋਕੋਜੁਧਜੀਤੈਮੁਝੈਵਹੈਹਮਾਰੋਨਾਥ॥੧੨॥
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਿਤੇਗਾ ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੧੨॥
‘Whosoever wins in the war, shall marry me.’(12)

ਸਭਭੂਪਨਨ੍ਰਿਪਐਸਸੁਨਾਯੋ॥
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ (ਕੰਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ) ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ
ਆਪਜੁਧਕੋਬਿਵਤਬਨਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ।
Then the Raja informed all of them and, himself, commenced preparations for the war.
ਜੋਕੋਊਤੁਮਲਜੁਧਹ੍ਯਾਂਕਰਹੈ॥
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਇਥੇ ਘਮਸਾਨ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰੇਗਾ,
ਵਹੈਯਾਹਿਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਕਹੁਬਰਿਹੈ॥੧੩॥
ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਕੰਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਰੇਗਾ ॥੧੩॥
He announced, ‘Whosoever wins the war, will marry my daughter.’(13)

ਸੁਨਤਬਚਨਬੀਰਾਨਕੇਚਿਤਮੈਭਯਾਅਨੰਦ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਛਾ ਗਿਆ
Hearing this pronouncement the princes were pleased,
ਮਥਿਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਦਲਪਾਇਹੈਆਜੁਕੁਅਰਿਮੁਖਚੰਦ॥੧੪॥
ਕਿ ਅਜ ਸੈਨਾ ਰੂਪੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਥ ਕੇ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਰੂਪ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ॥੧੪॥
They thought that the one who won, would marry the girl.(14)

ਸਭਨਜੁਧਕੇਸਾਜਬਨਾਏ॥
ਸਭ ਨੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ
ਗੰਗਾਤੀਰਬੀਰਚਲਿਆਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਆ ਗਏ।
They all got ready for fight and came to the Banks of Ganga, They all looked magnificent with armours on,
ਪਹਿਰਿਕਵਚਸਭਸੂਰਸੁਹਾਵੈ॥
ਕਵਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਸੁਸ਼ੋਭਿਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ
ਡਾਰਿਪਾਖਰੈਤੁਰੈਨਚਾਵੈ॥੧੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਾਠੀਆਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਚਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੧੫॥
And sitting on the horse-backs, they made them to dance.(15)
ਗਰਜੈਕਰੀਅਸ੍ਵਹਿਹਨਾਨੇ॥
ਹਾਥੀ ਗੱਜਣ ਲਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਹਿਣਕਣ ਲਗੇ
ਪਹਿਰੇਕਵਚਸੂਰਨਿਜੁਕਾਨੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਵਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਢੁਕਣ ਲਗੇ।
The elephants roared, horses neighed and the brave ones came out dressed in armours.
ਕਿਨਹੂੰਕਾਢਿਖੜਗਕਰਲੀਨੋ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਖਿਚ ਲਈ
ਕਿਨਹੂੰਕੇਸਰਿਯਾਬਾਨਾਕੀਨੋ॥੧੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਕੇਸਰੀ ਬਾਣਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੬॥
Some took out swords; they wore clothes in saffron colours.(l6)

ਕਿਨੂੰਤਿਲੌਨੇਬਸਤ੍ਰਕਰਿਕਟਿਸੋਕਸੀਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ (ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਬਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਜੰਗੀ ਵਟਣੇ ਮਲ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕਸ ਲਈ।
Some put red clothes on and girded the swords around their waists.
ਜੋਗੰਗਾਤਟਜੂਝਿਹੈਕਰਿਹੈਸ੍ਵਰਗਪਯਾਨ॥੧੭॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਧਾਰਣਾ ਪਾਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਕਿ) ਜੋ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਲੜ ਮਰੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਸਵਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਏਗਾ ॥੧੭॥
They declared, ‘The one who fights at the Bank of Gangs will go to the heaven.’(17)
ਜੋਰਿਅਨਿਨਰਾਜਾਚੜੇਪਰਾਨਿਸਾਨੇਘਾਵ॥
ਫੌਜਾਂ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਨਗਾਰਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਚੋਟਾਂ ਪੈਣ ਲਗੀਆਂ।
Some Rajas along with their armies marched forward with the beats of the drums.
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਜੋਧਾਲਰੇਅਧਿਕਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਕਰਚਾਵ॥੧੮॥
ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਯੋਧੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ ॥੧੮॥
Most of them came to fight with great ambitions in their minds.(l8)

ਤਬਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਸਭਸਖੀਬੁਲਾਈ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਸ) ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਖੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਸੋਕਰੀਬਡਾਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ।
Then the Princess called all her friends and showered praises on them,
ਕੈਲਰਿਕਰਿਸੁਰਸਰਿਤਟਮਰਿਹੌ॥
ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ,
ਨਾਤਰਸੁਭਟਸਿੰਘਕਹਬਰਿਹੌ॥੧੯॥
ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ॥੧੯॥
And said, ‘Either I will marry Subhat Singh or I will lay life fighting on the Bank of Ganga.’(19)
