ਤੁਮਕੋਮੀਤਆਪਨੋਕੈਹੋ॥੧੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿਤਰ ਕਹਾਂਗੀ ॥੧੦॥
I will show you her deception, and for that you become my friend.(10)
ਤਬਤੁਮਗਵਨਹਮਾਰੋਕੀਜੋ॥
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤਦ ਮੇਰੇ (ਘਰ) ਵਲ ਆਉਣਾ,
ਨਿਜੁਤ੍ਰਿਯਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਦੇਖਿਜਬਲੀਜੋ॥
ਜਦ (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋਗੇ।
‘Acting as my friend, you come to me and, then, observe your wife’s vile Chritar,
ਤਹਾਠਾਢਤੁਮਕੋਲੈਕਰਿਹੌ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਥੇ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਖੜਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ
ਮੀਤਆਯੋਤਵਤਾਹਿਉਚਰਿਹੌ॥੧੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਾਂਗੀ ਕਿ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਿਤਰ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
‘While making you to stand near me, I will tell her that my husband has come.’(11)

ਜਬਵਹੁਤਾਕੀਛੋਰਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਿਰਖੈਨੈਨਪਸਾਰਿ॥
ਜਦ ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਖੋਲ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਪਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖੇਗੀ,
‘When, through the open window, she sees you with eyes wide open,
ਤਬਤੁਮਅਪਨੇਚਿਤਬਿਖੈਲੀਜਹੁਚਰਿਤਬਿਚਾਰਿ॥੧੨॥
ਤਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ ॥੧੨॥
‘You, then, determine in your mind to judge her conduct.’(12)
ਤਹਾਠਾਢਤਾਕੌਕਿਯਾਆਪੁਗਈਤਿਹਪਾਸ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਥੇ ਖੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਉਸ (ਸ਼ਾਹਣੀ) ਕੋਲ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ।
Leaving him there, she went to his wife and said,
ਮੋਪਤਿਆਯੋਦੇਖਿਯੈਚਿਤਕੋਛੋਰਿਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸ॥੧੩॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਨਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ ॥੧੩॥
‘My husband has come, you can see him to your entire satisfaction.’(13)

ਤਾਕੀਕਹੀਕਾਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਧਰੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕੰਨ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਈ,
ਤਾਕੀਛੋਰਿਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਜਬਕਰੀ॥
ਖਿੜਕੀ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਜਦ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
She attentively listened to her and looked out ofthe window.
ਯਹਕੌਤਕਸਭਸਾਹੁਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੌਤਕ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਦੁਰਾਚਾਰਇਹਨਾਰਿਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥੧੪॥
ਅਤੇ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਰਾਚਾਰੀ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੪॥
The Shah watched all the happening and thought his wife was of bad character.(14)
ਮੋਸੋਸਤਿਤਵਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਹਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਯੌਕਹਿਸਾਹੁਮੋਨਿਹ੍ਵੈਰਹਿਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਚੁਪ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
‘I considered my woman as trustworthy, but this woman enlightened me.’
ਨਿਜਤ੍ਰਿਯਭਏਨੇਹਤਜਿਦੀਨੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਤਿਹਤ੍ਰਿਅਸਾਥਯਰਾਨੋਕੀਨੋ॥੧੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਯਰਾਨਾ ਲਗਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੫॥
He abandoned loving his wife and created friendship with the other woman.(15)

ਛਲਿਯੋਸਾਹੁਤ੍ਰਿਯਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਜੁਤਐਸੇਚਰਿਤਸੁਧਾਰਿ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸਹਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਛਲ ਲਿਆ
She deceived Shah through such a vile Chritar,
ਤਾਸੋਨੇਹੁਤੁਰਾਇਕੈਕਿਯਾਆਪੁਨੋਯਾਰ॥੧੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੁੜਵਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਯਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੬॥
And making him to break with his wife, she won him over as her paramour.(16)(1)

ਸੂਰਜਬੰਸਬਿਖੈਉਜਿਯਾਰੋ॥
ਜੋ ਸੂਰਜ ਬੰਸ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ (ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ) ਸੀ।
In Northern Province, there lived a great Raja who belonged to the Sun Clan.

ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਟਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ
ਬਿਜੈਸਿੰਘਰਾਜਾਬਰਆਨੀ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਿਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥

They had an extremely beautiful daughter
ਕਾਮਦੇਵਠਟਕੇਰਹਤਰਤਿਸਮਤਾਹਿਪਛਾਨਿ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਤੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਵੀ ਰੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
who was adjudged as exquisite as the Cupid.(2)

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਭਰ ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ

ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੰਗਾ (ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ) ਲੈ ਗਿਆ।
When she attained full maturity, her father though of taking her to (River) Ganga (for pilgrimage),
ਬਡੇਬਡੇਰਾਜਾਤਹਐਹੈ॥
ਉਥੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਆਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨਮੈਭਲੋਹੇਰਿਤਹਦੈਹੈ॥੩॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਗੰਗਾ ਮਈਆ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ ॥੩॥
Where all the big Rajas used- to come, and, perhaps, they would come across a suitable match for her.(3)
ਚਲੇਚਲੇਗੰਗਾਪਹਿਆਏ॥
(ਉਹ) ਚਲਦੇ ਚਲਦੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਆ ਗਏ
ਬੰਧੁਸੁਤਾਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਨਸੰਗਲ੍ਯਾਏ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ (ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ) ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ।
Walking and walking they reached Ganga, along with a number of ladies.
ਸ੍ਰੀਜਾਨ੍ਰਹਵਿਕੋਦਰਸਨਕੀਨੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੇ
ਪੂਰਬਪਾਪਬਿਦਾਕਰਿਦੀਨੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ॥੪॥
They paid their respects to the Ganga to cast off their profanities of the life theretofore.( 4)
ਬਡੇਬਡੇਭੂਪਤਿਤਹਆਏ॥
ਉਥੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
ਤਵਨਿਕੁਅਰਿਕੋਸਕਲਦਿਖਾਏ॥
(ਉਹ) ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਏ (ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ)
There had come many a magnanimous Rajas who were presented to the princess.
ਇਨਪਰਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਸਭਨਪਰਕਰਿਯੈ॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੋ
ਜੋਜਿਯਰੁਚੈਤਿਸੀਕੌਬਰਿਯੈ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗੇ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਲਵੋ ॥੫॥
She was told to have a look on them; whomsoever she liked, she would be betrothed to.(5)

She observed most of the princes, deliberated sincerely,
ਸੁਭਟਸਿੰਘਸੁੰਦਰਸੁਘਰਬਰਹੋਵਹੈਕੁਮਾਰ॥੬॥
ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਘੜ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ॥੬॥
And said that she would get married with Subhat Singh.(6)
ਅਧਿਕਰੂਪਤਾਕੋਨਿਰਖਿਸਭਰਾਜਾਰਿਸਿਖਾਹਿ॥
ਉਸ (ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ) ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ (ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ)
All the other princes were filled with jealousy,
