ਫਿਰ ਜਟ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,

ਹੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ॥੧੨॥
Along with the woman, he reached the bank of the stream and the Jat asked her, ‘Listen to me,(12)
ਸੁਖੀਚਲਹੁਚੜਿਨਾਵਪਿਯਾਰੀ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੀ! ਬੇੜੀ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਚਲ

ਮਾਨਿਲੇਹੁਯਹਮੋਰਉਚਾਰੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਹੀ ਇਹ (ਗੱਲ) ਮੰਨ ਲੈ।.
‘My beloved, I request you to go across on a boat.’
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਹਿਯੋਬੈਲਪੂਛਿਗਹਿਜੈਹੌ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਮੈਂ ਬਲਦ ਦੀ ਪੂਛ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ
ਅਬਹੀਪਾਰਿਨਦੀਕੇਹ੍ਵੈਹੌ॥੧੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣੇ ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ ॥੧੩॥
The woman said, ‘No, I will go across by holding the tail of a bull.’(13)

ਭੋਰਹੁਤੇਗਰਜੈਲਰਜੈਬਰਜੈਸਭਲੋਗਰਹੈਨਹਿਠਾਨੀ॥
(ਉਹ) ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਗੱਜਣ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਬਕਵਾਦ ਕਰਨ) ਅਤੇ ਲੜਨ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਮੰਨਾ ਕਰ ਥਕਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਉਹ) ਰੁਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
In the morning, the stream was roaring and the people came there to watch,
ਸਾਸੁਕੇਤ੍ਰਾਸਨਆਵਤਸ੍ਵਾਸਦੁਆਰਨਤੇਫਿਰਿਜਾਤਜਿਠਾਨੀ॥
ਡਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਿਆਂ ਸੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਠਾਣੀ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੋਂ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਮੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Dreaded, the mother-in-Laws did not turn up, and the sister-in-laws turned back from the thresholds.
ਪਾਸਪਰੋਸਿਨਬਾਸਗਹਿਯੋਬਨਲੋਗਭਏਸਭਹੀਨਕਵਾਨੀ॥
ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਪੜੋਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ) ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਕ ਵਿਚ ਦਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ-ਬਹੁਤ ਤੰਗ ਹੋ ਗਏ)।
The neighbours turned away to their houses as all were puzzled, ‘What sort of a woman is she?
ਪਾਨੀਕੇਮਾਗਤਪਾਥਰਮਾਰਤਨਾਰਿਕਿਧੌਘਰਨਾਹਰਆਨੀ॥੧੪॥
ਜੇ (ਪਤੀ) ਪਾਣੀ ਮੰਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੇਰਨੀ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
‘If one asked for a glass of water, she would throw stone on you. Rather than a woman she behaves like wrathful lioness.’(l4)

ਬੈਲਪੂਛਿਗਹਿਕੈਜਬੈਗਈਨਦੀਕੇਧਾਰ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਬਲਦ ਦੀ ਪੂਛਲ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਨਦੀ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ,
Holding the tail of a bull, when she jumped into the water,
ਦ੍ਰਿੜਕਰਿਯਾਕਹਪਕਰਿਯੈਬੋਲਸੁਕੂਕਿਗਵਾਰ॥੧੫॥
ਤਦ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਕੂਕ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਘੁਟ ਕੇ ਪਕੜ ॥੧੫॥
All shouted to hold the tail very tightly.(15)
ਛੋਰਿਪੂਛਿਕਰਤੇਦਈਸੁਨੀਕੂਕਿਜਬਕਾਨ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੂਕ ਕੰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪੂਛਲ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ
But when she heard this she let the tail loose,
ਗਾਰੀਭਾਖਤਬਹਿਗਈਜਮਪੁਰਕਿਯਸਿਪਯਾਨ॥੧੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਗਾਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਢਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਰੁੜ੍ਹ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਯਮ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ॥੧੬॥
And swearing loudly departed to the domain of angel of the death.(16)
ਨਾਰਿਕਲਹਨੀਬੋਰਿਕਰਿਜਾਟਅਯੋਗ੍ਰਿਹਮਾਹਿ॥
ਕੁਲੱਛਣੀ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਡੋਬ ਕੇ ਜਟ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
Thus getting rid of that quarrelsome woman Jat came back home,
ਕਹਾਸੁਖੀਤੇਜਨਬਸੈਅਸਿਨਬ੍ਯਾਹਨਜਾਹਿ॥੧੭॥
ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਵਿਆਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੭॥
How can a man, who is married to such a woman, live peacefully.(17)(1)

ਸ਼ਾਹਜਹਾਨ ਪੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ 'ਪਟੂਆ' (ਰੇਸ਼ਮ ਦੇ ਬਪਾਰੀ) ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
In the city of Shah Jehanpur there was the wife of a silk-weaver.
ਅਤਿਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਤਿਨਜੋਕਰਾਸੋਤੁਹਿਕਹੌਸੁਧਾਰਿ॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਵੱਡਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
What Chntar she showed, I am going to narrate that with due amends.(1)

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਮੰਜਰੀਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਨਾਮਬਖਾਨਿਯਤ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਮੰਜਰੀ ਦਸਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ
Preet Manjri was the name of the woman,
ਸੈਨਾਪਤਿਤਿਹਪਤਿਕੌਨਾਮਸੁਜਾਨਿਯਤ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
And the man was known as Senapatti.
ਬੀਰਭਦ੍ਰਨਰਇਕਸੌਹਿਤਤਾਕੋਭਯੋ॥
ਇਕ ਬੀਰਭਦ੍ਰ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
She had fallen in love with one person named Veer Bhadar,
ਹੋਪਠੈਸਹਚਰੀਬੋਲਿਤਾਹਿਨਿਜੁਘਰਲਯੋ॥੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
She sent her maid and called him to her house.(2)

ਅਧਿਕਤਵਨਸੌਨੇਹਲਗਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਤਾ
ਸਮੈਪਾਇਕਰਿਕੇਲਮਚਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਤੀ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
She loved him intensively and, in due course, had commenced to have sex with him.
ਤਬਲੌਆਵਤਪਟੂਆਭਯੋ॥
ਉਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਪਟੂਆ ਆ ਗਿਆ,

Incidentally her husband appeared and she hid the friend in large earthen pitcher.(3)
ਦ੍ਵੈਤਰਬੂਜਨਿਰਖਿਘਟਮਾਹੀ॥
ਦੋ ਤਰਬੂਜ਼ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਘੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
Incidentally her husband appeared and she hid the friend in large earthen pitcher.(3)
ਇਕਕਾਟ੍ਯੋਕਾਟ੍ਯੋਇਕਨਾਹੀ॥
ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਕਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਕਟਿਆ।
She put two melons in the pitcher; one was cut and the other whole.
ਗੁਦਾਭਖ੍ਰਯੋਖਪਰਸਿਰਧਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਇਕ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਗੁਦਾ ਖਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਖਪਰ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਧਰ ਲਿਆ
ਦੁਤਿਯਾਲੈਤਿਹਊਪਰਜਰਿਯੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਤਰਬੂਜ਼ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉਪਰ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪॥

ਇਹੀਬਿਖੈਪਟੂਆਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਯੋ॥

He said to the woman what ever she had brought that for him to eat(5)
ਜਬਇਹਭਾਤਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਸੁਨਪਾਯੋ॥
ਜਦ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ
ਕਾਟਿਤਾਹਿਤਰਬੂਜਖੁਲਾਯੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਤਰਬੂਜ਼ ਕਟ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਖੁਆਇਆ।
When she heard him say so, she cut the melon and gave him to eat.
ਮਿਤ੍ਰਲੇਤਤਿਹਕੌਅਤਿਡਰਾ॥
ਮਿਤਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰਿਆ
ਹਮਰੋਘਾਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਇਨਕਰਾ॥੬॥
ਕਿ (ਹੁਣ) ਇਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਰਵਾ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ ॥੬॥
The friend got scared that the woman might kill him now.(6)
ਕਾਟਿਤਾਹਿਤਰਬੂਜਖੁਲਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਬੂਜ਼ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਖੁਆਇਆ
ਪੁਨਿਪਟੂਆਸੌਭੋਗਕਮਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਪਟੂਆ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ।
But she cut the melon, enabled him (husband) to eat and then had sex.
ਕੇਲਕਮਾਇਟਾਰਿਤਿਹਦਯੋ॥
ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਮਿਤ੍ਰਹਿਕਾਢਿਖਾਟਪਰਲਯੋ॥੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ (ਮਟ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕਢ ਕੇ ਮੰਜੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੭॥
After making love she sent him out. Then she got the friend out and they sat down on the bed.(7)
