ਛਤ੍ਰਕੇਤੁਨ੍ਰਿਪਭਏਅਧਿਕਹਿਤਮਾਨਿਯੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕ ਹਿਤ ਸੀ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ) ਛਤ੍ਰ ਕੇਤੁ ਸੀ।
She was known as Soorchhat and name of the Raja was Chatarket.
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾਸਰਿਤਾਤਟਭੈਸਚਰਾਵਈ॥
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਗਾ (ਝੰਨਾ) ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਹ ਮਹੀਆਂ ਚਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
The buffaloes were grazed at the banks of the Chandrabhaga Stream
ਹੋਜਹੀਰਾਵਨਾਵਨਹਿਤਨਿਤਪ੍ਰਤਆਵਈ॥੪॥
ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੪॥
And the Raja used to come to bathe himself there.(4)

ਗੋਰਸਦੁਹਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿਤਹਲ੍ਯਾਵੈ॥
ਦੁੱਧ ਚੋਣ ਲਈ (ਉਹ) ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਮਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਥੇ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ
ਸਮੈਪਾਇਰਾਜਾਤਹਜਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੌਕਾ ਤਾੜ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੀ ਉਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
She used to bring buffaloes there for milking and at the same time Raja would reach there as well.
ਦੁਹਤਛੀਰਿਕਟਿਯਾਦੁਖਦੇਈ॥
ਦੁੱਧ ਚੋਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਕਟੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੰਗ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ,
She used to bring buffaloes there for milking and at the same time Raja would reach there as well.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਹਭਾਖਿਤਾਹਿਗਹਿਲੇਈ॥੫॥
(ਤਦ ਉਹ ਗੁਜਰ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਟੀ ਪਕੜਨ ਲਈ ਬੁਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ॥੫॥
Whenever the calf troubled the milk-man, he used to call her to hold it (the calf).(5)

ਜਬਵਹੁਚੋਵਤਭੈਸਕੋਕਰਿਕੈਨੀਚਾਸੀਸ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਗੁਜਰ) ਸਿਰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਝ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਕਢਦਾ,
Whenever the milkman hung his head down to milk,
ਤੁਰਤਆਨਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਭਜੈਬਹੁਪੁਰਖਨਕੋਈਸ॥੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਰਾਜਾ) ਤੁਰਤ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਕਰਨ ਲਗਦਾ ॥੬॥
The Raja would come immediately and fumble the woman (6)
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਰਾਜਾਭਜੈਤਾਕਹਮੋਦਬਢਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਵਖ ਵਖ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਤੀ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦਾ।
The Raja would revel valiantly and enjoy the pleasure.
ਚਿਮਟਿਚਿਮਟਿਸੁੰਦਰਿਰਮੈਲਪਟਿਲਪਟਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਜਾਇ॥੭॥
ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਵੀ ਚਿਮਟ ਚਿਮਟ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਪਟ ਲਿਪਟ ਕੇ ਰਮਣ ਕਰਦੀ ॥੭॥
By hugging exquisitely, she would relish as well.(7)
ਚੋਟਲਗੇਮਹਿਖੀਕੰਪੈਦੁਘਦਪਰਤਛਿਤਆਇ॥
ਸਟ ਲਗਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਝ ਹਿਲਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
When hurt, the buffalo would jerk and milk would spill,
ਸੰਗਅਹੀਰਅਹੀਰਨੀਬੋਲਤਕੋਪਬਢਾਇ॥੮॥
ਤਾਂ ਗੁਜਰ ਗੁਜਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੮॥
The milkman would rebuke her in anger.(8)

ਸੁਨਹੁਅਹੀਰਨਬੈਨਕਹਾਤੁਮਕਰਤਹੋ॥
ਹੇ ਗੁਜਰੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ, ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
‘Listen, you the milkmaid, what are you doing?
ਭੂਮਿਗਿਰਾਵਤਦੂਧਨਮੋਤੇਡਰਤਹੋ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਡਿਗਣ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈਂ, (ਤੂੰ) ਮੈਥੋਂ ਡਰਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
‘You are making milk to spill. Aren’t you afraid of me?’
ਕਹਿਯੋਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਪਿਯਸਾਥਬਾਤਸੁਨਿਲੀਜਿਯੈ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਯ! (ਮੇਰੀ) ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ।
The woman said, ‘Listen, dear, listen to me,
ਹੋਕਟੀਦੁਖਾਵਤਯਾਹਿਪਿਯਨਪੈਦੀਜਿਯੈ॥੯॥
ਇਹ ਕਟੀ (ਮਝ ਨੂੰ) ਤੰਗ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ (ਕੁਝ) ਦੁੱਧ ਦਿਓ ॥੯॥
‘The calf is giving the trouble. Let him drink. ‘(9)

ਰਾਵਅਹੀਰਨਿਦੁਇਤਰੁਨਭੋਗਕਰਹਿਸੁਖਪਾਇ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਜਰੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਜਵਾਨ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
(This way) Raja and the milk-maid copulated and enjoyed,
ਲਪਟਿਲਪਟਿਰਾਜਾਰਮੈਚਿਮਟਿਚਿਮਟਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਜਾਇ॥੧੦॥
ਲਿਪਟ ਲਿਪਟ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਮਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਵੀ ਨਾਲ ਚਿਮਟ ਚਿਮਟ (ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧੦॥
As, cuddling and hugging, the woman would embrace the Raja.(10)
ਡੋਲਤਮਹਿਖੀਨਰਹੈਬੋਲ੍ਯੋਬਚਨਅਹੀਰ॥
ਜਦ ਮਝ ਹਿਲਣੋ ਨਾ ਰੁਕੀ ਤਾਂ ਅਹੀਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ,
When the buffalo jerked excessively, the milkman again asserted,
ਕਹਾਕਰਤਹੋਗ੍ਵਾਰਨੀਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਗਵਾਵਤਛੀਰ॥੧੧॥
ਹੇ ਗਵਾਲਣ! ਕੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈਂ, (ਕਿਉਂ) ਵਿਅਰਥ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਧ ਗੰਵਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈਂ ॥੧੧॥
‘What are you doing, you the milkmaid, wasting the milk for nothing.’(11)
ਹੋਅਹੀਰਮੈਕ੍ਯਾਕਰੋਕਟਿਯਾਮੁਹਿਦੁਖਦੇਤ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਹੇ ਗੁਜਰਾ! ਮੈਂ ਕੀ ਕਰਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮਝ ਦਾ) ਕਟਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੰਗ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
‘What can I do, the calf is giving me lot of trouble.
ਯਾਕਹਚੂੰਘਨਦੀਜਿਯੈਦੁਗਧਜਿਯਨਕੇਹੇਤ॥੧੨॥
(ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਘਣ ਦੇ, ਦੁੱਧ (ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਜੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
‘Let him suck. After all milk is created for them.’(l2)
ਅਧਿਕਮਾਨਿਸੁਖਘਰਗਯੋਰਾਵਅਹੀਰਨਿਸੰਗ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਜਰ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
‘This way Raja and the milkman, both left for their abodes, satisfied,’
ਯੌਕਹਿਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਪਤਿਪੂਰਨਕੀਯੋਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ॥੧੩॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਥਾ-ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧੩॥
Concluding the story, the Minster had told the Raja.(13)
ਭੇਦਅਹੀਰਨਕਛੁਲਹਿਯੋਆਯੋਅਪਨੇਗ੍ਰੇਹ॥
ਗੁਜਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੇਦ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
Without understanding the secret, milkman returned to his home,
ਰਾਮਭਨੈਤਿਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਭਏਅਧਿਕਬਢਾਯੋਨੇਹ॥੧੪॥
ਰਾਮ (ਕਵੀ) ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗੁਜਰ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੪॥
And the poet Ram says, the lady thus enjoyed the love to great extent (14)(1)

ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਾ ਕੇ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ
The Raja had sent his son to the jail,
ਬਹੁਰੋਲਿਯਾਬੁਲਾਇਭੋਰਹੋਤਅਪਨੇਨਿਕਟਿ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
And called him back in the morning again.(1)

The learned Minister, who was adept in statesmanship,

ਇਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਮਦਨਕੇਤੁਨਾਮਾਜਗਕਹੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਦਨ ਕੇਤੁ ਨਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸੀ।
There lived a Raja at the banks of a river whose name was Madan Ket.
ਮਦਨਮਤੀਤਿਯਤਹਇਕਬਸੀ॥
ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਮਦਨ ਮਤੀ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ,
ਸੰਗਸੁਤਵਨਰਾਇਕੇਰਸੀ॥੩॥
ਜੋ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਸੀ ॥੩॥
Also there lived a lady named Madan Mati who had fallen in love with the Raja.(3)

ਪੈਰਿਨਦੀਕੋਪਾਰਕੋਉਠਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਹਪ੍ਰਤਿਜਾਇ॥
ਰਾਜਾ (ਮਹੱਲ ਤੋਂ) ਉਠ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਦੀ ਤਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਸ ਪਾਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
Swimming across the river, the Raja used to go to see her, And used
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਤਿਹਨਾਰਿਕੋਭਜਤਅਧਿਕਸੁਖਪਾਇ॥੪॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੪॥
To revel with that woman in various ways.(4)
