ਜੌਅਪਨੀਤੈਗੁਦਾਪਰਖੋਦਨਦੇਇਬਿਹੰਗ॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੁਦਾ ਉਤੇ ਪੰਛੀ (ਦਾ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ) ਖੋਦਣ (ਉਕਰਨ) ਦੇਵੇਂ,
‘If you let me tattoo a bird on your rectum,
ਤੋਤੁਮਅਬਜੀਵਤਰਹੋਬਚੈਤਿਹਾਰੇਅੰਗ॥੧੧॥
ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਬਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
‘Only then you can save your life.’(11)
ਤਬੈਬਨਿਕਤੈਸੇਕਿਯਾਜ੍ਯੋਂਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਹਿਯੋਰਿਸਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਬਨੀਏ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
The moneylender agreed to do whatever the lady said.
ਥਰਹਰਿਕਰਿਛਿਤਪਰਗਿਰਿਯੋਬਚਨਨਭਾਖ੍ਯੋਜਾਇ॥੧੨॥
(ਉਹ) ਕੰਬਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਨਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੧੨॥
He fell flat on his chest and shut his mouth tightly.(l2)
ਤਬੁਤਰੁਨੀਹੈਤੇਉਤਰਿਇਕਛੁਰਕੀਕੇਸੰਗ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਹ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਛੁਰੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ,
Then the lady dismounted the horse and took a knife,
ਰਾਮਭਨੈਤਿਹਬਨਿਕਕੀਬੁਰਿਪਰਖੁਦ੍ਰਯੋਬਿਹੰਗ॥੧੩॥
(ਕਵੀ) ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਬਨੀਏ ਦੀ ਗੁਦਾ ਉਤੇ ਪੰਛੀ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਖੋਦ (ਉਕਰ) ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੩॥
As Ram Bhanai (the poet) said, the lady tattooed a bird.(13) (1)

ਕੰਕਨਾਮਦਿਜਬਰਇਕਸੁਨਾ॥
ਕੰਕ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਪੜ੍ਰਹੇਪੁਰਾਨਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਬਹੁਗੁਨਾ॥
ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਸੀ।
There lived one Brahmin named Kanak, who was well versed in Shastras and Puranas.
ਅਤਿਸੁੰਦਰਤਿਹਰੂਪਅਪਾਰਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਸੀ।
ਸੂਰਲਯੋਜਾਤੇਉਜਿਆਰਾ॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
He was handsome too and, even, the Sun borrowed light from him.(1)
ਦਿਜਕੋਰੂਪਅਧਿਕਤਬਸੋਹੈ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ੋਭਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਸੁਰਨਰਨਾਗਅਸੁਰਮਨਮੋਹੈ॥
ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਨਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
His attractiveness was so distinguished that the gods, humans, reptiles and demons relished him
ਲਾਬੇਕੇਸਛਕੇਘੁੰਘਰਾਰੇ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਘੁੰਘਰਾਲੇ ਵਾਲ ਫਬਦੇ ਸਨ।
His attractiveness was so distinguished that the gods, humans, reptiles and demons relished him
ਨੈਨਜਾਨੁਦੋਊਬਨੇਕਟਾਰੇ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੈਣ ਮਾਨੋ ਕਟਾਰਾਂ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੨॥
He had long and wavy hair and his eyes were like those of katara, the killer bird.(2) .
ਬ੍ਯੋਮਕਲਾਰਾਨੀਰਸਭਰੀ॥
ਬਿਓਮ ਕਲਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਜੋਬਨਵਤੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ
ਬਿਰਧਰਾਇਸੁਤਹਿਤਜਰੀ॥
ਜੋ ਬਿਰਧ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ (ਘਰ) ਪੁੱਤਰ (ਨ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਸੜ ਬਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
There was a Rani by the name of Biyom Kala, whose husband was old and she had no issues.
ਤਿਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਭੋਗਕੰਕਸੌਚਹਾ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕੰਕ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ) ਨਾਲ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ
There was a Rani by the name of Biyom Kala, whose husband was old and she had no issues.
ਲਏਕਪੂਰਆਵਤੋਗਹਾ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਪੂਰ ਲਈ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
As she wished to have sex with Kanak, holding camphor she took him in her arms.(3) . .
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਦਿਜਬਰਸੋਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੇ॥
(ਉਸ) ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬੋਲ ਕਹੇ।
ਭਜਹੁਆਜੁਤੁਮਹਮੈਪਿਯਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਤੂੰ ਅਜ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਕਰ।
The lady said to the twice born (Brahmm), today you love me.
ਕੰਕਨਤਾਕੀਮਾਨੀਕਹੀ॥
ਕੰਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ।
ਰਾਨੀਬਾਹਿਜੋਰਤਨਗਹੀ॥੪॥
ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਲਵਕੜੀ ਪਾ ਲਈ ॥੪॥
Kanak did not heed to her but she took him in her arms.(4)

ਗਹਿਚੁੰਬਨਲਾਗੀਕਰਨਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਨਿਕਸਯਾਆਇ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਚੁੰਮਣ ਲਗੀ ਤਾਂ (ਉਧਰੋਂ) ਰਾਜਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
When, holding him, she was kissing him, the Raja walked in.
ਤਬਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਿਯਾਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਇਕਅਧਿਕਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਸਕੁਚਾਇ॥੫॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੫॥
Being ashamed, then, the lady staged a trickery.(5)
ਯਾਦਿਜਬਰਤੇਮੈਭ੍ਰਮੀਸੁਨੁਰਾਜਾਮਮਸੂਰ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਰਾਜੇ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਇਸ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
‘I had felt some doubt in the intention of this Brahmin,
ਜਿਨਿਇਨਚੋਰਿਭਖ੍ਰਯੋਕਛੂਸੁੰਘਨਹੁਤੀਕਪੂਰ॥੬॥
ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਚੋਰੀ ਖਾਧਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ) ਕਪੂਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਘ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੬॥
‘I was trying to detect the smell of camphor in his mouth.’(6)
ਸੂਰਨਾਮਸੁਨਿਮੂਰਿਮਤਿਅਤਿਹਰਖਤਭਯੋਜੀਯ॥
ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ
Hearing this the foolish Raja was satisfied,
ਸੀਂਘਤਹੁਤੀਕਪੂਰਕਹਧੰਨ੍ਯਧੰਨ੍ਯਇਹਤ੍ਰੀਯ॥੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸ਼ਕ ਕਪੂਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਘਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ ॥੭॥
And started to shower the praises on the lady smelling camphor.(7)(1)

ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੀ,
ਸੁਨਿਸਭਸਭਾਮੋਨਿਹ੍ਵੈਰਹੀ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਭਾ ਖ਼ਾਮੋਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
The Minister narrated another story, listening to which whole assembly became silence.
ਏਕਅਹੀਰਨਦੀਤਟਰਹਈ॥
ਇਕ ਗੁਜਰ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
The Minister narrated another story, listening to which whole assembly became silence.
ਅਤਿਸੁੰਦਰਿਤਿਹਤ੍ਰਿਯਜਗਕਹਈ॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
A milkman used to live at the bank of a stream; His wife was considered the most beautiful.(1)

ਰੂਪਕੁਰੂਪਅਹੀਰਕੋਸੁੰਦਰਤਾਕੀਨਾਰਿ॥
ਗੁਜਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਕੋਝਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੀ।
An ugly looking milkman possessed this pretty wife.
ਵਹੁਤਰੁਨੀਇਕਰਾਵਕੋਅਟਕੀਰੂਪਨਿਹਾਰਿ॥੨॥
ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਇਕ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸ ਗਈ ॥੨॥
On seeing a Raja, she fell in love with him.(2)

ਕਟੁਕਟੁਬਚਨਰੈਨਦਿਨਭਾਖੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਕੌੜੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਸੀ।
The milkman had kept the woman under distress and, day in and day out, used to beat her.
ਗੋਰਸਬੇਚਨਜਾਨਨਦੇਈ॥
ਦੁੱਧ ਵੇਚਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ

ਛੀਨਿਬੇਚਿਗਹਨਨਕਹਲਈ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਗਹਿਣੇ ਵੀ ਖੋਹ ਕੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ ॥੩॥
He would not let her go to sell even the milk and he had snatched her ornaments and sold them.(3)
