ਮੋਅਪਰਾਧਛਿਮਾਪਨਕਰਿਯਹੁ॥੧੧॥
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੧੧॥
‘Never try to attempt such trickery ever again and this time I pardon your transgression.’(11)

ਛਿਮਾਕਰਹੁਅਬਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਮੈਬਹੁਰਿਨਕਰਿਯਹੁਰਾਧਿ॥
ਹੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ! ਹੁਣ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰ, (ਮੈਂ) ਫਿਰ ਅਪਰਾਧ ('ਰਾਧਿ') ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
‘Now, woman, you exonerate me as well, because I don’t want to linger on the dispute.’
ਬੀਸਸਹੰਸਟਕਾਤਿਸੈਦਈਛਿਮਾਹੀਬਾਧਿ॥੧੨॥
ਉਸ (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਦੀ ਵੀਹ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਟੱਕੇ ਦੀ ਛਿਮਾਹੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ॥੧੨॥
She was, then, endowed a pension of twenty thousand takaas every six months. (12) (1)

ਦੀਨੋਬਹੁਰਿਪਠਾਇਬੰਦਸਾਲਪਿਤਪੂਤਕਉ॥
ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ
The father again sent his son to the prison,
ਲੀਨੋਬਹੁਰਿਬੁਲਾਇਭੋਰਹੋਤਅਪੁਨੇਨਿਕਟਿ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
And, as soon as it was morning, he called him back.(1)

ਪੁਨਿਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਇਕਕਥਾਉਚਾਰੀ॥
ਫਿਰ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੀ
ਸੁਨਹੁਰਾਇਇਕਬਾਤਹਮਾਰੀ॥
ਕਿ ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਮੇਰੀ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੋ।
The Minister started narration and said, ‘My Raja, listen to another anecdote.
ਏਕਚਰਿਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਤੁਮਹਿਸੁਨਾਊ॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਇਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਆ-ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਤਾਤੇਤੁਮਕੌਅਧਿਕਰਿਝਾਊ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
I will tell you another Chritar, which will amuse you -2
ਉਤਰਦੇਸਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਇਕਭਾਰੋ॥
ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ।
ਸੂਰਜਬੰਸਮਾਹਿਉਜਿਯਾਰੋ॥
(ਉਹ) ਸੂਰਜਬੰਸ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਉਘਾ ਸੀ।
In a country up in the North, there lived a Raja who belonged to the revered Sun Clan.
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਤੀਤਾਕੀਪਟਰਾਨੀ॥
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਟਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ,
ਮਾਨਹੁਛੀਰਸਿੰਧਮਥਿਆਨੀ॥੩॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਛੀਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਥ ਕੇ (ਕਢੀ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੩॥
Chandra Mati was his principal Rani who was, as if, churned out of milk pudding (3)
ਏਕਸੁਤਾਤਾਕੇਭਵਲਯੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਇਕ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ,
ਜਾਨਕਡਾਰਿਗੋਦਰਵਿਦਯੋ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੇ ਹੀ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ) ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ।
They were blessed with a daughter, who was endowed in their lap by the God Sun, himself.
ਜੋਬਨਜੇਬਅਧਿਕਤਿਹਬਾਢੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੋਬਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੀ,
ਮਾਨਹੁਚੰਦ੍ਰਸਾਰਮਥਿਕਾਢੀ॥੪॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਰਿੜਕ ਕੇ ਕਢੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪॥
Her beauty had no bounds she was like the serenity of the Moon.(4)
ਧਰਿਯੋਸੁਮੇਰਕੁਅਰਿਤਿਹਨਾਮਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸਮੇਰ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਜਾਸਮਔਰਨਜਗਮੈਬਾਮਾ॥
ਉਸ ਵਰਗੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
She was given the name of Sumer Kaur there was none other like her in the world.
ਸੁੰਦਰਿਤਿਹੂੰਭਵਨਮਹਿਭਈ॥
(ਉਹ) ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ) ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਸੀ,
ਜਾਨੁਕਕਲਾਚੰਦ੍ਰਕੀਵਈ॥੫॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੫॥
Her beauty prevailed all over the three worlds, as she possessed the Moon like virtues (5)
ਜੋਬਨਜੇਬਅਧਿਕਤਿਹਧਰੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੋਬਨ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਛਬੀ ਸੀ
ਮੈਨਸੁਨਾਰਭਰਨੁਜਨੁਭਰੀ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਰੂਪੀ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੇ ਨੇ ਸੰਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
She was so beautiful that, even, the Cupid ran errands for her.
ਵਾਕੀਪ੍ਰਭਾਜਾਤਨਹਿਕਹੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ
ਜਾਨਕਫੂਲਮਾਲਤੀਰਹੀ॥੬॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਮਾਲਤੀ ਦਾ ਫੁਲ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੬॥
Her charm could not be explained as she appeared to be like a bouquet of flowers.( 6)

ਜਗੈਜੁਬਨਕੀਜੇਬਕੇਝਲਕਤਗੋਰੇਅੰਗ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਜੋਬਨ ਦੀ ਛਬੀ ਗੋਰੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਝਲਕਦੀ ਸੀ।
With the awakening of youth, her appendage reflected through her fair complexion,
ਜਨੁਕਰਿਛੀਰਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਮੈਦਮਕਤਛੀਰਤਰੰਗ॥੭॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਛੀਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਧ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਰੰਗਾਂ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ॥੭॥
Like the snowy waves, which jumped up and down in the sea-water.(7)
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:

ਦਛਿਨਦੇਸਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਵਹਬਰੀ॥
ਉਹ ਦੱਖਣ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ (ਕਿਸੇ) ਰਾਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹੀ ਗਈ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੇਭੋਗਨਕਰੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਐਸ਼ਵਰਜ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
She was married to a southern Raja and she started to enjoy variable carnal pleasures.
ਦੋਇਪੁਤ੍ਰਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਇਕਭਈ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੁਖ ਤੋਂ) ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਲੜਕੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ,
ਜਾਨੁਕਰਾਸਿਰੂਪਿਕੀਵਈ॥੮॥
ਮਾਨੋ (ਉਹ ਲੜਕੀ) ਰੂਪ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੮॥
She gave birth to two sons and a daughter, who were the epitome of splendour as well.(8)
ਕਿਤਕਿਦਿਨਨਰਾਜਾਵਹੁਮਰਿਯੋ॥
ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਦ ਉਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ।
ਤਿਹਸਿਰਛਤ੍ਰੁਪੂਤਬਿਧਿਧਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਧਾਤਾ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਧਰਿਆ।
Soon after that Raja died, the crown of sovereignty was put on the son’s head,
ਕੋਆਗ੍ਯਾਤਾਕੀਤੇਟਰੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਕੌਣ ਟਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਜੋਭਾਵੇਚਿਤਮੈਸੋਕਰੈ॥੯॥
(ਉਹ) ਜੋ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੯॥
And then whose orders no body could refute and he could do whatever the way he liked.(9)
ਐਸਭਾਤਿਬਹੁਕਾਲਬਿਹਾਨ੍ਰਯੋ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੀਤ ਗਿਆ।
ਚੜਿਯੋਬਸੰਤਸਭਨਜਿਯਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਬਸੰਤ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ।
Long time passed, and the spring season prevailed.
ਤਾਤੇਪਿਯਬਿਨਰਹਿਯੋਨਪਰੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ।
She (the widowed Rani) could not bear without her lover
ਬਿਰਹਬਾਨਭਏਹਿਯਰਾਜਰੈ॥੧੦॥
ਵਿਯੋਗ ਦੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ॥੧੦॥
As her heart was riddled with the arrows of separation.(10)

ਬਿਰਹਬਾਨਗਾੜੇਲਗੇਕੈਸਕਬੰਧੈਧੀਰ॥
ਵਿਯੋਗ ਦੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਤੀਰ ਵਜਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਧੀਰਜ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੇ।
How could she tolerate and contain herself when the arrows of estrangement pinched her?
ਮੁਖਫੀਕੀਬਾਤੈਕਰੈਪੇਟਪਿਯਾਕੀਪੀਰ॥੧੧॥
ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਫਿਕੀਆਂ ਫਿਕੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਪੇਟ (ਭਾਵ ਮਨ) ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ (ਦੇ ਵਿਯੋਗ) ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਸੀ ॥੧੧॥
She talked customarily, but in the heart she was pricked with the for her consort.(11)
