ਅਮਿਤਰੂਪਤਾਕੋਜਗਜਾਨੋ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਤਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ।
And her beauty was discerned by every body in the world.

(ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ ਸ਼ੋਭਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਜਾਸਮਅਨਤਨਕਤਹੂੰਰਾਜਤ॥੩॥
ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੩॥
There was none other comparable to her.(3)

ਨਿਸਦਿਨਬਾਸਤਹਾਕਰੈਮੁਗਲਨਅਨਤੈਜਾਇ॥
(ਉਹ ਭਾਵੇਂ) ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਉਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ (ਸਮਾਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ) ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਮੁਗ਼ਲਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਵੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
(Her husband) used to go into the company of another Mughal.
ਔਰਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਸੋਭਜੈਤ੍ਰਿਯਤੋਕਛੂਨਸੰਕਾਇ॥੪॥
(ਉਹ) ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਣ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ) ॥੪॥
Without putting his wife in doubt, he used to indulge in making love with other women.(4)
ਹੇਰਮੁਗਲਅਨਤੈਰਮਤਤਰੁਨਿਧਾਰਰਿਸਿਚਿਤ॥
(ਉਸ) ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
When she learnt about him, flirting with other women, she called the
ਕੀਨਾਏਕਬੁਲਾਇਗ੍ਰਿਹਬਾਲਬਨਿਕਕੋਮਿਤ॥੫॥
ਇਕ ਬਨੀਏ ਦੇ ਲੜਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਤਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
Son of a Shah and created friendship with him.(5)
ਏਕਦਿਵਸਤਾਸੌਕਹਿਯੋਭੇਦਸਕਲਸਮਝਾਇ॥
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੇਦ ਸਮਝਾ ਕੇ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
One day she disclosed all the secrets to him and, being scared of her
ਪੁਤ੍ਰਧਾਮਤਿਹਰਾਖਿਯੋਨਿਜੁਪਤਿਤੇਡਰਪਾਇ॥੬॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਠਹਿਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੬॥
Husband, put him up in her own house.(6)
ਪਿਯਸੋਵਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਜਾਗਿਕੈਪਤਿਕੌਦਿਯੋਜਗਾਇ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਜਾਗ ਕੇ ਸੁਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਇਆ
Although husband was in slumber, she was still awake.
ਲੈਆਗ੍ਯਾਸੁਤਬਨਕਕੇਸੰਗਬਿਹਾਰੀਜਾਇ॥੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਨੀਏ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੭॥
She woke him up and with his permission went out, to have illicit relation with the son of the Shah.(7)
ਪਿਯਸੋਵਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਜੋਜਗੈਕਹੈਦੁਸਟਕੋਊਆਇ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ) ਸੁਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਤੀ ਕੋਲ ਜੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆ ਕੇ ਕਹੇ (ਕਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ)
If a wife, still awake and lying down with her sleeping husband, says that an intruder has come
ਤੁਰਤੁਦੋਸਤੀਪਤਿਤਜੈਨਾਤਨੇਹਛੁਟਿਜਾਇ॥੮॥
ਤਾਂ ਪਤੀ ਤੁਰਤ (ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਬੰਧ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਤਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
Even if the intruder is a friend, all relationship with him should be severed.(8)

ਪਿਯਕੋਪ੍ਰਿਥਮਜਵਾਇਆਪੁਪੁਨਿਖਾਇਯੈ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਨੂੰ ਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
(A Woman) should eat after she had served meals to her husband.
ਪਿਯਪੂਛੇਬਿਨੁਨੈਕਨਲਘੁਕਹਜਾਇਯੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਛੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਬ (ਲਘੂ ਸ਼ੰਕਾ) ਲਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
Even without out his consent, she should not go to meet the call of the nature.
ਜੋਪਿਯਆਇਸੁਦੇਇਸੁਸਿਰਪਰਲੀਜਿਯੈ॥
ਜੋ ਪਤੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਮੱਥੇ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
The permission granted by the husband should be adhered to, and,
ਹੋਬਿਨੁਤਾਕੇਕਛੁਕਹੇਨਕਾਰਜਕੀਜਿਯੈ॥੯॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਹੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ॥੯॥
Without his, no work should be performed.(9)

ਬਿਨੁਪਿਯਕੀਆਗ੍ਯਾਲਈਮੈਲਘੁਕੋਨਹਿਜਾਉ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ) ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਬ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ।
That woman presented the excuse that she would not go out, even to urinate without seeking husband’s permission.
ਕੋਟਿਕਸਟਤਨਪੈਸਹੋਪਿਯਕੋਕਹਿਯੋਕਮਾਉ॥੧੦॥
ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਸਹਿ ਲਵਾਂਗੀ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਮੰਨਾਗੀ ॥੧੦॥
(She had pronounced,) ‘I may have to bear insufferable ailments but will always obey my beloved husband.’(10)
ਸੁਨਤਬਚਨਮੂਰਖਮੁਗਲਆਗ੍ਯਾਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਹਦੀਨ॥
ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਨੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
The foolish Mughal had permitted his wife.
ਰੀਝਿਗਯੋਜੜਬੈਨਸੁਨਿਸਕ੍ਯੋਨਕਛੁਛਲਚੀਨ॥੧੧॥
(ਉਹ) ਮੂਰਖ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਛਲ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਂਪ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੧੧॥
That senseless one was satisfied with his wife’s talk and did not comprehend her trickery.(11)
ਸੁਨਤਬਚਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਉਠਿਚਲੀਪਿਯਕੀਆਗ੍ਯਾਪਾਇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ
Obtaining husband’s consent the woman had gone, delightfully, to
ਰਤਿਮਾਨੀਸੁਤਬਨਿਕਸੋਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਹਰਖਉਪਜਾਇ॥੧੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਨੀਏ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੧੨॥
Romanticise with the son of the Shah.(12)
ਪਰੈਆਪਦਾਕੈਸਿਯੈਕੋਟਕਸਟਸਹਿਲੇਤ॥
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਆ ਪਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਸਹਿਣੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਣ,
The wise-men may be in big difficulties and they can be facing great many discomforts,
ਤਊਸੁਘਰਨਰਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਭੇਦਨਅਪਨੋਦੇਤ॥੧੩॥
ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਸੁਘੜ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ॥੧੩॥
But they never divulge their secrets to women.(13)(1)

ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਭਈਭੋਰਬਹੁਰੌਨਿਕਟਕੋਹਕਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
The Raja had put his son in the prison and, then, in morning he called him back.
ਤਬੈਮੰਤ੍ਰਯੋਰਾਇਸੋਬੈਨਭਾਖ੍ਯੋ॥
ਤਦ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ
ਚਿਤਰਸਿੰਘਕੇਪੂਤਕੌਪ੍ਰਾਨਰਾਖ੍ਯੋ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੧॥
The Minister advised the Raja and protected the son of Chitar Singh.(1)
ਸਹਰਚੀਨਮਾਚੀਨਮੈਏਕਨਾਰੀ॥
ਚੀਨ ਮਚੀਨ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੀ
ਰਹੈਆਪਨੇਖਾਵੰਦਹਿਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਅਪਾਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸੀ।
In the city of Cheenmaacheen, there lived a woman who was very much esteemed by her husband.
ਜੁਸੋਬੈਨਭਾਖੈਵਹੀਬਾਤਮਾਨੈ॥
ਉਹ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਉਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਮਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਬਿਨਾਤਾਹਿਪੂਛੇਨਹੀਕਾਜਠਾਨੈ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁਛੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
He always acted according to the wishes of his wife.(2)
ਦਿਨੋਰੈਨਡਾਰੇਰਹੈਤਾਹਿਡੇਰੈ॥
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਉਸ ਕੋਲ) ਡੇਰੇ ਜਮਾਈ ਰਖਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਬਿਨਾਤਾਹਿਨਹਿਇੰਦ੍ਰਕੀਹੂਰਹੇਰੈ॥
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਹੂਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸੀ।
He ever stayed home and never, even, looked at Indra’s Fairies.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਰੂਪਆਨੂਪਲਹਿਪੀਯਜੀਵੈ॥
(ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪਤੀ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਬਿਨਾਨਾਰਿਪੂਛੇਨਹੀਪਾਨਪੀਵੈ॥੩॥
ਬਿਨਾ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁਛਿਆਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਤਕ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੩॥
He lived relished by the sight of this woman and never sipped a drop of water without her concurrence.(3)
ਮਤੀਲਾਲਨੀਕੋਰਹੈਨਾਮਬਾਲਾ॥
ਲਾਲ ਮਤੀ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਨਾਂ ਸੀ।
ਦਿਪੈਚਾਰੁਆਭਾਮਨੋਰਾਗਮਾਲਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਛਬੀ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਝਲਕਦੀ ਸੀ ਮਾਨੋ ਰਾਗ ਮਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
That pretty lady was known as Lal Mati and she was as beautiful as the musical notes.
ਸੁਨੀਕਾਨਐਸੀਨਵੈਸੀਨਿਹਾਰੀ॥
ਉਸ ਵਰਗੀ (ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਨਾ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ।
Neither there had been, nor there would be, a stunner like her.(4)
ਭਈਹੈਨਆਗੇਨਹ੍ਵੈਹੈਕੁਮਾਰੀ॥੪॥
(ਉਸ ਜਿਹੀ) ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨਾ ਅਗੇ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਅਗੋਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ॥੪॥
She was, as if she had been created by Brahma Himself.
ਮਨੌਆਪੁਲੈਹਾਥਬ੍ਰਹਮੈਬਨਾਈ॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ।
Either she looked like Dev Jani (daughter of Shankar-Acharya) or
ਕਿਧੌਦੇਵਜਾਨੀਕਿਧੌਮੈਨਜਾਈ॥
ਯਾ ਉਹ ਦੇਵਯਾਨੀ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
She was produced through Cupid.
