ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ) ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ॥੫੦॥

ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਭੋਰਹੋਤਪੁਨਲਿਯੋਸੁਨਿਕਟਿਬੁਲਾਇਕੈ॥
ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
The Raja sent his son to the jail and in the morning called him back.

ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਆ ਕੇ ਕਥਾ ਉਚਾਰੀ।

(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਭਰਮ ਵੱਧ ਗਿਆ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਹੋ ਗਈ) ॥੧॥
Then the Minister narrated another anecdote and the Raja was further convinced.(1)

ਬਦਖ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ (ਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
There lived a Mughal’s woman m the city of Badkhashan.
ਤਾਸੌਕਿਯਾਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਤਿਨਸੋਤੁਮਸੁਨਹੁਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੁਣੋ ॥੨॥
Now, my Raja, listen to the cunning acts of her plays.(2)
ਬਿਤਨਮਤੀਇਕਚੰਚਲਾਹਿਤੂਮੁਗਲਕੀਏਕ॥
ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਿਤਨ ਮਤੀ (ਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੀ।
A lady named Bitan Mati loved the Mughal.
ਜੰਤ੍ਰਮੰਤ੍ਰਅਰੁਬਸੀਕਰਜਾਨਤਹੁਤੀਅਨੇਕ॥੩॥
(ਉਹ) ਜੰਤ੍ਰ, ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਢੰਗ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੩॥
She had been accorded with various types of magic and charms.(3)

ਏਕਦਿਵਸਤਿਨਲੀਨੀਸਖੀਬੁਲਾਇਕੈ॥
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਾਇਆ।
ਪਰਿਗਈਤਿਨਮੈਹੋਡਸੁਐਸੇਆਇਕੈ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਸ਼ਰਤ ਆ ਲਗੀ।
One day she called over another lady and settled a bet with her,
ਕਾਲਿਸਜਨਕੇਬਾਗਕਹਿਯੋਚਲਿਜਾਇਹੋਂ॥
(ਪਹਿਲੀ) ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ ਕਿ ਕਲ ਇਸ ਸਜਨ (ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ) ਦੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ
‘Tomorrow, I will go to the garden with this friend, and while this
ਹੋਇਹਮੂਰਖਕੇਦੇਖਤਭੋਗਕਮਾਇਹੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਮੂਰਖ ਦੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ (ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ) ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ॥੪॥
Fool is watching, I will make love with someone else.’(4)

ਦੁਤੀਯਸਖੀਐਸੇਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਨੁਸਖੀਬਚਨਹਮਾਰ॥
ਦੂਜੀ ਸਖੀ ਨੇ ਇੰਜ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਮੇਰਾ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ।
But the other one said, ‘Listen my friend! I will make love with one
ਭੋਗਕਮੈਹੋਯਾਰਸੋਨਾਰਬਧੈਹੌਜਾਰ॥੫॥
(ਮੈਂ ਇਕ) ਯਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਨਾੜਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਾਵਾਂਗੀ ॥੫॥
Partner and make the other one to tie my waist-band.’(5)

ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਦ ਸੂਰਜ ਡੁਬ ਗਿਆ
ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਦਿਸਤੇਸਸਿਪ੍ਰਗਟਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਨਿਕਲ ਆਇਆ।
In the evening when the Sun set and the Moon rose from west,
ਭਾਗਵਤਿਨਉਪਜ੍ਯੋਸੁਖਭਾਰੋ॥
ਭਾਗਾਂ ਭਰੀਆਂ (ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
Then the lucky ones attained the supreme comforts, but the Moon-
ਬਿਰਹਿਣਿਕੌਸਾਇਕਸਸਿਮਾਰੋ॥੬॥
ਵਿਯੋਗਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਸੁਟਿਆ ॥੬॥
Rays distressed the separated ones.(6)

ਅਸਤਾਚਲਸੂਰਜਗਯੋਰਹਿਯੋਚੰਦ੍ਰਮੰਡਰਾਇ॥
ਸੂਰਜ ਡੁਬ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਘੁੰਮਣ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ।
The Sun had set, and the Moon was at its full flight.
ਲਪਟਿਰਹਿਯੋਪਿਯਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਸੋਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਪਿਯਨਲਪਟਾਇ॥੭॥
ਮਰਦ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਮਰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਪਟਣ ਲਗ ਗਈਆ ॥੭॥
The males and females started to embrace each other.(7)
ਉਡਗਤਗੀਰੀਰਵਿਅਥਨਪ੍ਰਭਾਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਾਪਾਇ॥
ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਛਿਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਂਦਨੀ ('ਪ੍ਰਭਾ') ਰੂਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)
Like the petty policemen who go astray in the absence of Amir, the
ਜਾਨੁਕਚੰਦ੍ਰਅਮੀਨਕੇਫਿਰੇਬਿਤਾਲੀਆਇ॥੮॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਰੂਪੀ ਥਾਣੇਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਰੂਪੀ ਚੋਬਦਾਰ ('ਬਿਤਾਲੀ') ਪਹਿਰਾ ਬਦਲਣ ਲਈ ਆ ਗਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੮॥
Chief, the stars remain hidden till the Sun-rises.(8)

ਅਸਤਾਸੋਭੋਗਨਤਿਨਮਾਨੇ॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਡੁਬਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਚਾਰਿਜਾਮਘਟਿਕਾਇਕਜਾਨੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਪਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ।
With the Sunset, people set upon in lovemaking and the four watches passed like one.
ਚੌਥੇਜਾਮਸੋਇਕਰਰਹੇ॥
ਚਾਰ ਪਹਿਰ ਤਕ ਸੁਤੇ ਰਹੇ
ਚਤੁਰਨਕੇਗ੍ਰੀਵਾਕੁਚਗਹੇ॥੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਰਦਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਚ ਪਕੜੀ ਰਖੇ ॥੯॥
During all the four watches couples kept on lying down and smooching.(9)

ਨਾਨਖਾਨਅਰੁਦਾਨਹਿਤਦਿਨਿਦਿਖਿਜਗਿਹੈਰਾਜ॥
ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਖਣ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ, ਖਾਣ ਪੀਣ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ
The day breaks for ablution, breakfast and for handing out charities.
ਦੁਜਨਦਲਨਦੀਨੋਧਰਨਦੁਸਟਨਦਾਹਿਬੇਕਾਜ॥੧੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਲਣ ਲਈ, ਦੀਨਾਂ (ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ) ਦਾ ਉੱਧਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜਨ ਲਈ (ਤਤਪਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧੦॥
The day brings the annihilation of the sordid souls and extermination of Sinners and emancipation of the righteous ones.(10)
ਸਵੈਯਾ॥

ਜਾਨਿਪਯਾਨਬਿਛੋਹਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਨਕੇਛੋਭਬਡ੍ਯੋਉਰਭੀਤਰਭਾਰੀ॥
(ਰਾਤ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਸਲ੍ਹ ਵਧ ਗਿਆ।
The woman became aggrieved as the night passed.
ਅੰਚਰਡਾਰਿਕੈਮੋਤਿਨਹਾਰਦੁਰਾਵਤਜਾਨਿਭਯੋਉਜਿਯਾਰੀ॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਵੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਅੰਚਲ ਪਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਰੂਪ ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
It seemed as if the dawn, with spreadsheets, was amassing all the star studded with jewels.
ਪਾਨਹੂੰਪੋਛਤਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਕੋਤਨਕੈਸੇਰਹੈਇਹਚਾਹਤਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ॥
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਪਰੋਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ (ਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਰੂਪੀ ਮੁੜਕੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੂੰਦਾਂ) ਪੂੰਝਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸਤਰੀ ਇਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
The damsel wished the Moon to remain shinning forever so that she
ਚੰਦਚੜਿਯੋਸੁਚਹੈਚਿਰਲੌਚਿਤਦੇਤਦਿਵਾਕਰਕੀਦਿਸਿਗਾਰੀ॥੧੧॥
ਕਿ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਚਿਰ ਤਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਵਲ (ਮੂੰਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਗਾਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
Could go on ravishing star-like white drops. She abused the Sun for interruption.(11)
ਭੁਜੰਗਛੰਦ॥
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ:

ਚਲੋਪ੍ਰਾਨਪ੍ਯਾਰੇਫੁਲੇਫੂਲਆਛੇ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਚਲੋ, ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਫੁਲ ਖਿੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਦਿਪੈਚਾਰੁਮਾਨੋਢਰੇਮੈਨਸਾਛੇ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਮਾਨੋ ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਹੀ ਢਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
‘Come on, my love, let us go, beautiful flowers are in full bloom.
ਕਿਧੋਗੀਰਬਾਣੇਸਹੂੰਕੇਸੁਧਾਰੇ॥
ਜਾਂ ਇੰਦਰ ('ਗੀਰਬਾਣੇਸ') ਦੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
‘They are pricking like the arrows straight from Cupid.
ਸੁਨੇਕਾਨਐਸੇਨਵੈਸੇਨਿਹਾਰੇ॥੧੨॥
ਨਾ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੨॥
‘Even Lord Krishna would have neither heard nor seen them.(12)
