ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥

ਬਹੁਰਿਸੁਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਰਾਇਸੌਕਥਾਉਚਾਰੀਆਨਿ॥
ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਹੋਰ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ।
Then the Minister narrated another anecdote,
ਸੁਨਤਸੀਸਰਾਜੈਧੁਨ੍ਰਯੋਰਹਿਯੋਮੌਨਮੁਖਿਠਾਨਿ॥੧॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਹਿਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਨ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
Hearing which the Raja waved his head in unison but kept quiet 1
ਪਦੂਆਉਹਿਟਿਬਿਯਾਬਸੈਗੈਨੀਹਮਰੇਗਾਉ॥
ਇਕ ਪਦੂਆ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ) ਉਸ ਟਿੱਬੀ ਉਤੇ ਵਸਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੈਨੀ (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
There lived an aide on the hills, and his spouse lived in our village.
ਦਾਸਖਸਮਤਾਕੋਰਹਤਰਾਮਦਾਸਤਿਹਨਾਉ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਦਾਸ ਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਰਾਮ ਦਾਸ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
Her husband was known as Ramdas.(2)
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਅਨਤੈਰਹਤਪਦੂਆਕੇਸੰਗਸੋਇ॥
ਰਾਮ ਦਾਸ ਕਿਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ (ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਪਦੂਆ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
When Ramdas slept else where, she would sleep with an aide, who
ਨ੍ਰਹਾਨਹੇਤਉਠਿਜਾਤਤਹਜਬੈਦੁਪਹਰੀਹੋਇ॥੩॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਬਹਾਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੩॥
Used to get up at mid-day to go for his ablution.(3)
ਇਕਦਿਨਪਦੂਆਕੇਸਦਨਬਹੁਜਨਬੈਠੇਆਇ॥
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ (ਜਦੋਂ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ) ਪਦੂਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਆਏ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਨ।
Once there appeared a few strangers at the household of that aide but
ਭੇਦਨਪਾਯੋਗੈਨਿਯਹਿਤਹਾਪਹੁੰਚੀਜਾਇ॥੪॥
ਗੈਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ (ਉਹ) ਉਥੇ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ॥੪॥
His mistress had no knowledge of them when she had arrived there.(4)

ਤਬੈਤੁਰਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੇ॥
ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਫ਼ੌਰਨ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ,
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਆਏਨਤੁਹਾਰੇ॥
(ਕਿ ਕੀ) ਰਾਮ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ।
She inquired whether Ramdas had not come there,
ਮੇਰੇਪਤਿਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰਓਊ॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਸਮਾਨ ਪਤੀ
ਕਹਗਯੋਤਾਹਿਬਤਾਵਹੁਕੋਊ॥੫॥
ਕਿਥੇ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਦਸੇ ॥੫॥
He is my God-like husband. Where has he gone? Please tell me.’ (5)
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥
ਦੋਹਰਾ:

ਗਰਾਓਰਕਹਯੌਗਈਜਾਤਭਏਉਠਿਲੋਗ॥
(ਇਹ) ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਲ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਗਏ।
Declaring so she went out towards the main street. All the strangers immediately got up and left the place.
ਤੁਰਤੁਆਨਿਤਾਸੌਰਮੀਮਨਮੈਭਈਨਿਸੋਗ॥੬॥
(ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਤੁਰਤ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੬॥
Subsequently she abandoned all her fears and soon came back to induce her lover.(6)
ਪਦੂਆਸੌਰਤਿਮਾਨਿਕੈਤਹਾਪਹੂੰਚੀਆਇ॥
ਪਦੂਆ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਹ) ਉਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ
ਰਾਖਿਯੋਹੁਤੋਸਵਾਰਿਜਹਆਪਨਸਦਨਸੁਹਾਇ॥੭॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਜਿਆ-ਸੰਵਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਘਰ ਸੀ ॥੭॥
And after making love with that aide, she retreated to her beautiful abode.(7)
ਕੈਸੋਹੀਬੁਧਿਜਨਕੋਊਚਤੁਰਕੈਸਉਹੋਇ॥
ਕੋਈ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ,
ਚਰਿਤਚਤੁਰਿਯਾਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਕੋਪਾਇਸਕਤਨਹਿਕੋਇ॥੮॥
ਚਤੁਰ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੮॥
Bow-so-ever one might be wise, one would not be able to fathom the female-Chritars.(8)
ਜੋਨਰਅਪੁਨੇਚਿਤਕੌਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਰਦੇਤਬਨਾਇ॥
ਜੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ (ਦਾ ਭੇਦ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਸ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The one who divulged ones secrets to a female, the old age would
ਜਰਾਤਾਹਿਜੋਬਨਹਰੈਪ੍ਰਾਨਹਰਤਜਮਜਾਇ॥੯॥
ਤਾਂ ਬੁਢਾਪਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਮ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਹਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
Overpower his youth, and the angel of death surround to wrench his soul.(9)
ਸੋਰਠਾ॥

ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿਨਦੀਜੈਭੇਦਤਾਹਿਭੇਦਲੀਜੈਸਦਾ॥
ਸਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ, ਵੇਦ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਕ-ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
The gist of the Simritis, Vedas and Koka Shastras is that the secret might not be imparted to the females.
ਕਹਤਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿਅਰੁਬੇਦਕੋਕਸਾਰਊਯੌਕਹਤ॥੧੦॥
ਕਿ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ (ਸਗੋਂ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਸਦਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
Rather, instead, one should try to understand her enigmas.(10)(1)

ਬਹੁਰਿਸੁਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਰਾਇਸੌਕਥਾਉਚਾਰੀਏਕ॥
ਫਿਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਈ।
Then the Minister narrated such a parable that the mind became serene,
ਅਧਿਕਮੋਦਮਨਮੈਬਢੈਸੁਨਿਗੁਨਬਢੈਅਨੇਕ॥੧॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੧॥
And the virtuosity was much enhanced -1
ਏਕਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਗਈਬਾਗਮੈਰਮੀਔਰਸੋਜਾਇ॥
ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿਚ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਰਮਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਗ ਗਈ।
A woman named Puhap Mati went into to a garden and started loving some else.
ਤਹਾਯਾਰਤਾਕੋਤੁਰਤਦੁਤਿਯਪਹੂੰਚ੍ਯੋਆਇ॥੨॥
ਉਥੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਯਾਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੨॥
Her lover instantly walked in there too.(2)
ਚੌਪਈ॥

ਜਾਰਆਵਤਜਬਤਿਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਲਹਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਾਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਦੁਤਿਯਮੀਤਸੋਇਹਬਿਧਿਕਹਿਯੋ॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਦੂਜੇ ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,
When she observed her second lover intruding in,
ਮਾਲੀਨਾਮਆਪਨਤੁਮਕਰੋ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ
She asked the first one, ‘Disguise yourself as a gardener,
ਫਲਫੂਲਨਿਆਗੇਲੈਧਰੋ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਲ ਫੁਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਗੇ ਧਰ ਲੈ ॥੩॥
Keeping a few flowers in front ofyou.(3)

ਜੋਹਮਇਹਜੁਤਬਾਗਮੈਬੈਠੇਮੋਦਬਢਾਇ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਵਾਂਗੇ।
‘When we sit down in the garden in affectionate posture, you
ਫੂਲਫਲਨਲੈਤੁਮਤੁਰਤੁਆਗੇਧਰੋਬਨਾਇ॥੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤੁਰਤ ਫਲ ਫੁਲ ਅਗੇ ਆ ਰਖਣਾ ॥੪॥
Immediately put flowers and fruits in front of us.’(4)
ਤਬੈਤਵਨਤਿਯੋਹੀਕਿਯੋਜੋਤ੍ਰਿਯਤਿਹਸਿਖਦੀਨ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਂਜ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ।
The lover acted the way she told him and collected the flowers and
ਫੂਲਫੁਲੇਅਰੁਫਲਘਨੇਤੋਰਿਤੁਰਤੁਕਰਲੀਨ॥੫॥
ਖ਼ਿੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਫੁਲ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਤੁਰਤ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਏ ॥੫॥
Fruit and held them in his hand.(5)
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਸਹਿਤਜਦਬਾਗਮੈਜਾਰਬਿਰਾਜਿਯੋਜਾਇ॥
ਜਦ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਯਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਬੈਠੀ।
As soon as they sat down he straightaway placed the flowers and
ਤੋਤਿਨਫੁਲਫਲਲੈਤੁਰਤੁਆਗੇਧਰੇਬਨਾਇ॥੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫਲ ਫੁਲ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਅਗੇ ਰਖੇ ॥੬॥
Fruit in front of them.(6)
ਇਹਮਾਲੀਇਹਬਾਗਕੋਆਯੋਤੁਮਰੇਪਾਸ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਯਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ) ਇਸ ਬਾਗ਼ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਾਲੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।
Then she said, ‘This gardener has come to you.
