ਮੇਵਾਸਾਹੁਨਿਸਾਹੁਲੈਤਿਹਸਫਭੀਤਰਿਡਾਰਿ॥
(ਉਸ) ਸ਼ਾਹਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਵਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਚਟਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ।
Taking the fruit, the trader threw it to the sack and the woman said,
ਖਾਹਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਤੂਭਛਸੁਭਐਸੇਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਧਾਰਿ॥੧੨॥
(ਤਾਂ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ) ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਇੰਜ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਖਾਓ ॥੧੨॥
‘O my Raja eat it to your satisfaction.’(12)
ਸੁਨਤਸਾਹੁਚਮਕ੍ਯੋਬਚਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੌਕਹਿਯੋਰਿਸਾਇ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ) ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਭੜਕ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ,
The trader flew into rage and asked the lady, ‘Why have you called me a Raja?
ਤੈਮੁਹਿਕ੍ਯੋਰਾਜਾਕਹਿਯੋਮੋਕਹੁਬਾਤਬਤਾਇ॥੧੩॥
ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਸਾਰੀ) ਗੱਲ ਦਸ ॥੧੩॥
‘Disclose the reason behind this.’(13)
ਧਾਮਰਹਤਤੋਰੇਸੁਖੀਤੋਸੌਨੇਹੁਬਢਾਇ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
The woman said, ‘I live in your house. I love you and that is why
ਤਾਤੇਮੈਰਾਜਾਕਹਿਯੋਮੇਰੇਤੁਮਹੀਰਾਇ॥੧੪॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ 'ਰਾਜਾ' ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੋ ॥੧੪॥
I called you a Raja. You are my Raja.’(14)
ਰੀਝਗਯੋਜੜਬਾਤਸੁਨਿਭੇਦਨਸਕਿਯੋਪਛਾਨਿ॥
(ਉਹ) ਮੂਰਖ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਭੇਦ (ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਿਆ।
The fool was satisfied without knowing the reason, became the
ਤੁਰਤਿਗਯੋਹਾਟੈਸੁਉਠਿਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਮਨਮਾਨਿ॥੧੫॥
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਤੁਰਤ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਉਤੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੫॥
Embodiment of love and left for his business.(15)
ਸਾਹੁਗਏਤ੍ਰਿਯਸਾਹਕੀਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੋਦਯੋਨਿਕਾਰਿ॥
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਉਸ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Soon after, she facilitated the Raja to come out.
ਸੁਨਤਬਾਤਅਤਿਕੋਪਕੈਅਧਿਕਲੌਡਿਯਹਿਮਾਰਿ॥੧੬॥
(ਸਾਰੀ) ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ) ਲੌਂਡੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥੧੬॥
Learning about the full interaction, the Raja beat her up and left the place.(16)(1)

ਤਵਨਲੌਡਿਯਹਿਸਾਹੁਤ੍ਰਿਯਮਾਰੀਜੌਰਿਸਿਖਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਲੌਂਡੀ ਨੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ,
The Minister narrated to the Raja.
ਕਿਯਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਤਿਨਮੰਤ੍ਰਿਯਨਨ੍ਰਿਪਸੋਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਨਾਇ॥੧॥
ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ (ਜੋ) ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ (ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
The maid of the trader’s wife, who was beaten up in a temper, had displayed a few wonders as well:(1)

ਚੋਟਨਲਗੇਰੋਹਮਨਆਨੋ॥
ਸੱਟਾਂ ਵਜਣ ਨਾਲ (ਲੌਂਡੀ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਆਇਆ।
She (the maid) was infuriated after getting severe beating.
ਜਾਇਸੈਯਦਸੋਕਰਿਯੋਯਰਾਨੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ) ਸੱਯਦ ਨਾਲ ਯਾਰਾਨਾ ਗੰਢ ਲਿਆ।
She got involved herself with a Sayeed.
ਨਿਤਤਿਹਅਪਨੇਸਦਨਬੁਲਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੱਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ
She invited him to her house every day and
ਸਾਹੁਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਕੋਦਰਬੁਲੁਟਾਵੈ॥੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਧੰਨ ਲੁਟਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ॥੨॥
Started to plunder the wealth of the trader’ wife.(2)

ਸਾਹੁਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਕੀਖਾਟਪਰਇਕਦਿਨਤਾਹਿਸਵਾਇ॥
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੰਜੇ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਵਾ ਕੇ,
ਸਾਹੁਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਸੋਅਗਮਨੈਕਹਿਯੋਬਚਨਸੌਜਾਇ॥੩॥
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਜਾ ਦਸੀ ॥੩॥
Before she put Sayeed in the bed belonging to the trader’s wife, the maid had gone to the trader’s wife and told,
ਤਵਨੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੁਅਹਿਤਪਰਿਯੋਬੇਗਿਬੁਲਾਵਤਤੋਹਿ॥
ਤੇਰਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਲਦੀ ਬੁਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਲੋਅਬੈਉਠਿਤੁਮਤਹਾਬਾਤਸ੍ਰਵਨਧਰਿਮੋਹਿ॥੪॥
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਹੁਣੇ ਉਥੇ ਚਲ ॥੪॥
‘The Raja, imbued in your love, is waiting. Please go quick to the house where fire is visible.’(3)
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਠਾਢੋਹੇਰੈਤੁਮੈਤੁਮਰੇਅਤਿਹਿਤਪਾਗਿ॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਅਧਿਕ ਗ਼ਰਕਿਆ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖੜੋਤਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੇਗਿਚਲੋਉਠਿਤਹਾਤੁਮਜਹਾਬਰਤੁਹੈਆਗਿ॥੫॥
ਤੂੰ ਉਥੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਚਲ ਜਿਥੇ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਬਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
Making sure, the maid, then, ran and approached the Raja, led him to
ਸੁਨਤਬਚਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਤਹਚਲੀਕਹਿਯੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਸੋਧਾਇ॥
ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਉਥੇ ਗਈ। ਉਧਰ (ਦਾਸੀ ਨੇ) ਭਜ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ
The place where the Sayeed was lying down and said, ‘Here, your
ਸੋਇਯਾਰਤੁਮਰੀਰਹੀਗਹੋਚਰਨਦੋਊਜਾਇ॥੬॥
ਕਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਯਾਰ ਸੁਤੀ ਪਈ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੈਰ ਫੜ ਲਵੋ ॥੬॥
Beloved is lying down. Go and hold her by her feet.’(6)
ਆਪੁਅਗਮਨੇਦੌਰਿਕੈਸੈਯਦਹਿਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਨਾਇ॥
(ਦਾਸੀ ਨੇ) ਆਪ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਸੱਯਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
Previously she (the maid) had already warned the Sayeed and told him
ਗਹਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਜਾਗਤਰਹੋਜਿਨਿਨਗਹੈਕੋਊਆਇ॥੭॥
(ਕਿ) ਤਲਵਾਰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਮਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਆ ਕੇ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਪਕੜ ਨਾ ਲਵੇ ॥੭॥
To remain alert, with a sword beside him, in case some one walked in.(7)
ਚੋਰਜਰਾਵਤਆਗਿਜਹਤਹਤ੍ਰਿਯਪਹੁਚੀਜਾਇ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਚੋਰ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਨ, ਉਥੇ (ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ।
On the other side, the place where thieves were sitting with fire on, the trader’s wife came.
ਲੂਟਿਕੂਟਿਤਾਕੌਦਿਯੋਗਹਿਰੇਗੜੇਦਬਾਇ॥੮॥
(ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਟ ਖਸੁਟ ਕੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚ ਦਬਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੮॥
They (the thieves) plundered and killed her and buried her body in a ditch.(8)
ਅੜਿਲ॥
ਅੜਿਲ:

ਚਰਨਛੁਅਨਦੋਊਕਾਲਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਆਨਿਯੋ॥
(ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ) ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਹਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਾਜਾ (ਉਥੇ) ਆਇਆ।
ਚਿਤ੍ਰਕਲਾਕੋਬਚਨਸਤਿਕਰਮਾਨਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਾ (ਦਾਸੀ) ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਸਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ।
Here, the Raja adhered to the truth of the maid’s words and leapt forward to touch (Sayeed’s) feet.
ਉਠਤਤੇਗਕੋਤਬਬਿਨਘਾਵਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਸੱਯਦ ਨੇ) ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਬਿਨਾ (ਸੋਚਿਆ) ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਘਾਓ ਕੀਤਾ
ਹੋਸੁਘਰਸਿੰਘਰਾਜਾਕੋਹਨਿਹੀਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੁਘਰ ਸਿੰਘ (ਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੯॥
The Sayeed jumped up and with one stroke decapitated the Raja.(9)

ਸਾਹੁਬਧੂਚੋਰਨਹਨੀਸੈਯਦਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੌਘਾਇ॥
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਯਦ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ
ਤਵਨਲੌਡਿਯਹਿਲੈਗਯੋਅਪਨੇਸਦਨਬਨਾਇ॥੧੦॥
ਉਸ ਦਾਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੦॥
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿਨਅੰਤਰਦੀਜਿਯੈਤਾਕੋਲੀਜੈਭੇਦ॥
(ਕਦੇ ਵੀ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, (ਪਰ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਲੈ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
The thieves had been made to kill the trader’s wife, and, after killing
ਬਹੁਪੁਰਖਨਕੇਕਰਤਹੈਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਚੰਚਲਾਛੇਦ॥੧੧॥
(ਇਹ) ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ('ਚੰਚਲਾ') ਬਹੁਤ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧੧॥
The Raja, the Sayeed took the maid (Chitarkala) to his abode.(11)
ਚਿਤਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਹਰਿਲੀਜਿਯੈਤਾਹਿਨਦੀਜੈਚਿਤ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਹਰ ਲਵੋ, (ਪਰ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਕਦੇ ਵੀ) ਚਿਤ ਨਾ ਦਿਓ।
The woman’s heart may be captured but never let her steal your heart.
ਨਿਤਪ੍ਰਤਿਤਾਹਿਰਿਝਾਇਯੈਦੈਦੈਅਗਨਿਤਬਿਤ॥੧੨॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਬੇਹਿਸਾਬ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਖੋ ॥੧੨॥
Providing her myriads of victuals, just keep her satisfied.(12)
ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬਜਛਭੁਜੰਗਗਨਨਰਬਪੁਰੇਕਿਨਮਾਹਿ॥
ਗੰਧਰਬ, ਯਕਸ਼, ਭੁਜੰਗ, ਗਣ,
The gods, such as Gandharabh, Jachh, Bhujang, Dev, Devil, none could fathom the Chritars of the women,
