ਰੋਗਹੇਤਅਨੁਸਰੌਬੁਰੈਮਤਿਮਾਨਿਯੋ॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ; (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਬੁਰਾ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ।
‘One should not refrain the treatment must match the disease and one should not desist.
ਬੈਦਧਾਇਗੁਰਮਿਤਤੇਭੇਦਦੁਰਾਇਯੈ॥
ਵੈਦ, ਦਾਈ, ਗੁਰੂ, ਮਿਤਰ ਤੋਂ (ਜੇ) ਭੇਦ ਲੁਕਾ ਲਈਏ,
‘One should not keep ailment in secret from a vaid, a midwife, a guru and a friend.
ਹੋਕਹੌਕਵਨਕੇਆਗੇਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਜਨਾਇਯੈ॥੭॥
ਤਾਂ ਦਸੋ, ਕਿਸ ਅਗੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਦਸੀਏ ॥੭॥
‘There is no one else to whom we could open our minds.’(7)

ਦਾਦੁਰੀਚਬਾਈਤਾਕੇਮੂਰਿਯੋਧਸਾਈਘਨੀਧੇਰਿਨਚੁਗਾਈਵਾਹਿਜੂਤਿਨਕੀਮਾਰਿਕੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਵੈਦ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਛੱਲੀ ਚਬਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਲੀ ਵੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਜੁਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਕਰੀਆ ਚਰਵਾਈਆਂ।
She made him to eat the offspring of the frogs. Made him to work in the field to sow radishes. Got his head beaten with slippers and sent him out to graze his sheep.
ਰਾਖਸਿਰਪਾਈਤਾਕੀਮੂੰਛੈਭੀਮੁੰਡਾਈਦੋਊਐਸੀਲੀਕੈਲਾਈਕੋਊਸਕੈਨਉਚਾਰਿਕੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਛਾਈ ਪਵਾਈ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੁੱਛਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੁਨਵਾਈਆਂ; (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਲੀਕ ਲਗਾਈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
His head was strewn with dust and his moustache was shaved off His condition became indescribable.
ਗੋਦਰੀਡਰਾਈਤਾਤੇਭੀਖਭੀਮੰਗਾਈਤਿਹਐਸੋਕੈਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਤਾਹਿਗ੍ਰਿਹਤੇਨਿਕਾਰਿਕੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਗੋਦੜੀ ਪਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭਿਖ ਵੀ ਮੰਗਵਾਈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਰੋਂ ਕਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
He was thrown out of the house to beg wearing a patched coat.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਕੋਐਸੋਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਵਾਹਿਕੋਦਿਖਾਇਜਾਰਆਪੁਟਰਿਗਯੋਮਹਾਮੂਰਖਕੋਟਾਰਿਕੈ॥੮॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਯਾਰ (ਜਾਹਿਦ ਖਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ॥੮॥
The woman displayed the trick and the lover chucked him out after making him a foo1.(8)

ਭੀਖਮਾਗਬਹੁਰੋਘਰਆਯੋ॥
ਜਦ ਉਹ ਭਿਖ ਮੰਗ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਆਇਆ,
When he returned after begging, he did not find him (Yusaf Khan) there.
ਤਹਾਤਵਨਕੋਦਰਸਨਪਾਯੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ (ਵੈਦ) ਨੂੰ (ਉਥੇ) ਨਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
He asked, ‘The one who had treated me,
ਕਹਗਯੋਜਿਨਮੁਰਰੋਗਘਟਾਇਸ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ ਕਿ) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰੋਗ ਘਟਾਇਆ ਸੀ, (ਉਹ) ਕਿਥੇ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ?
The one who has curtailed my disease, where has he gone?’
ਯਹਜੜਭੇਵਨੈਕਨਪਾਇਸ॥੯॥
ਉਸ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦਾ) ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਭੇਦ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੯॥
Pity, the fool could not comprehend the real motive.(9)
ਤਬਅਬਲਾਯੌਬਚਨਉਚਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ।
ਕਹੋਬਾਤਸੁਨੁਮੀਤਹਮਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਮਿਤਰ! (ਮੈਂ) ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਸੁਣੋ।
ਸਿਧਿਔਖਧਜਾਕੇਕਰਆਯੋ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਧ ਕੀਤੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਦੈਤਿਨਬਹੁਰਿਨਦਰਸਦਿਖਾਯੋ॥੧੦॥
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ॥੧੦॥

ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਔਰਰਸਾਇਨੀਜੌਭਾਗਨਿਮਿਲਿਜਾਤ॥
ਜੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ (ਮੰਤਰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਅਤੇ ਰਸਾਇਨੀ (ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਦਵਾਈਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਣ,
(She said,) ‘Only through good luck, the reptile charmer and the medicine men are found and
ਦੈਔਖਧਤਬਹੀਭਜੈਬਹੁਰਿਨਦਰਸਦਿਖਾਤ॥੧੧॥
ਤਾਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਭਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਫਿਰ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ॥੧੧॥
They run away after suggesting the treatment. ‘They are not traced afterwards.’ (11)
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
Chaupaee
ਤਾਕੋਕਹਿਯੋਸਤਿਕਰਿਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਉਸ (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਦਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਸਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ
That fool believed her to be trustworthy
ਭੇਦਅਭੇਦਜੜਕਛੂਨਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੇ ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਜਾਣਿਆ।
And did not try to understand the real purpose.
ਤਾਸੋਅਧਿਕਸੁਨੇਹਸੁਧਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਧਾ ਲਿਆ
Thinking that she had helped him to eliminate his big infirmity,
ਮੇਰੋਬਡੋਰੋਗਤ੍ਰਿਯਟਾਰਿਯੋ॥੧੨॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
He started to love her even more. (12)
ਇਤਿਸ੍ਰੀਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਭੂਪਸੰਬਾਦੇਸਪਤਮੋਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਸਮਾਪਤਮਸਤੁਸੁਭਮਸਤੁ॥੭॥੧੪੫॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥
ਇਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੋਪਾਖਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ, ਸਭ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਹੈ ॥੭॥੧੪੫॥ ਚਲਦਾ॥

ਸਹਰਅਕਬਰਾਬਾਦਮੈਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਕ੍ਰਿਯਾਕੀਹੀਨ॥
ਅਕਬਰਾਬਾਦ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਹੀਨ ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਰਹਿੰਦੀ) ਸੀ।
In the city of Akbarabad, a woman, devoid of good deeds, used to live.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰਜੰਤ੍ਰਅਰੁਤੰਤ੍ਰਸਭਤਿਨਮੈਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ॥੧॥
(ਉਹ) ਸਭ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ, ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
She was well versed in the magical charms and incantations.(I)
ਸ੍ਰੀਅਨੁਰਾਗਮਤੀਕੁਅਰਿਲੋਗਬਖਾਨਹਿਤਾਹਿ॥
ਉਹ ਕੁੰਵਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਨੁਗਰਾਗ ਮਤੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
She was known as Kunwar Anuraag Mati and even the consorts of
ਸੁਰੀਆਸੁਰੀਕਿੰਨ੍ਰਨੀਰੀਝਿਰਹਤਲਖਿਵਾਹਿ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੁਰੀ (ਦੇਵ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਅਸੁਰੀ, ਕਿੰਨਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸਭ ਰੀਝ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ ॥੨॥
The gods and the demons envied her.(2)
ਅੜਿਲ॥
ਅੜਿਲ:

ਬਹੁਪੁਰਖਨਸੋਬਾਲਸਦਾਰਤਿਮਾਨਈ॥
(ਉਹ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ।
She constantly involved herself in
ਕਾਹੂਕੀਨਹਿਲਾਜਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਮੈਆਨਈ॥
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਹਯਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
Passionate lovemaking without remorse.
ਸੈਯਦਸੇਖਪਠਾਨਮੁਗਲਬਹੁਆਵਈ॥
(ਉਸ ਪਾਸ) ਸੱਯਦ, ਸ਼ੇਖ, ਪਠਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ
The Sayeeds, the Sheikhs, the Pathans, and the Mughals frequently
ਹੋਤਾਸੋਭੋਗਕਮਾਇਬਹੁਰਿਘਰਜਾਵਈ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ-ਵਿਲਾਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਘਰ ਪਰਤਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੩॥
Came to her and went to their homes after having sex.(3)

ਐਸੇਹੀਤਾਸੌਸਭੈਨਿਤਿਪ੍ਰਤਿਭੋਗਕਮਾਹਿ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਭੋਗ-ਵਿਲਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਬਰਿਯਾਅਪਨੀਆਪਨੀਇਕਆਵੈਇਕਜਾਹਿ॥੪॥
ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੪॥
Thus they came daily and went to their houses after copulating.(4)
ਪ੍ਰਥਮਪਹਰਸੈਯਦਰਮੈਸੇਖਦੂਸਰੇਆਨਿ॥
ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਯਦ ਰਮਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
In the first quarter of the day, came the Sayeed, the Sheikh in the second,
ਤ੍ਰਿਤਿਯਪਹਰਮੁਗਲਾਵਈਚੌਥੇਪਹਰਪਠਾਨ॥੫॥
ਤੀਜੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੌਥੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਪਠਾਨ (ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ) ॥੫॥
The Mughal in the third and in the fourth quarter came the Pathan, to enjoy sex with her.(5)

ਭੂਲਪਠਾਨਪ੍ਰਥਮਹੀਆਯੋ॥
(ਇਕ ਵਾਰ) ਪਠਾਨ ਭੁਲ ਕੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
Forgetting the turn, one day the Pathan came in before anybody else.
ਪੁਨਿਸੈਯਦਮੁਖਿਆਨਿਦਿਖਾਯੋ॥
ਫਿਰ ਸੱਯਦ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਵਿਖਾਈ।
Following him the Sayeed entered as well.
ਲੈਸੁਪਠਾਨਖਾਟਤਰਦੀਨੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਪਠਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਜੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
She made the Path an to hide under the bed
ਸੈਯਦਹਿਲਾਇਗਰੇਸੌਲੀਨੋ॥੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੱਯਦ ਨੂੰ ਗਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੬॥
And took Sayeed in an embrace.( 6)
ਸੇਖਸੈਯਦਕੇਪਾਛੇਆਯੋ॥
ਸ਼ੇਖ ਸੱਯਦ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
Incidentally, immediately after the Sayeed the Sheikh walked in,
ਘਾਸਬਿਖੈਸੈਯਦਹਿਛਪਾਯੋ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ) ਸੱਯਦ ਨੂੰ ਘਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And she hid the Sayeed in hay.
