ਹੋਖੇਲਿਅਖੇਟਕਭਵਨਤਵਨਕੇਆਇਯੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥
In the pursuit of hunting, he came to her house.( 4)

ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਖੇਡਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
After hunting he made love to that girl.
ਇਹੀਬੀਚਆਵਤਭਯੋਜਾਟਰੀਛਕੈਸੰਗ॥੫॥
ਇਸੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਰਿਛ ਵਰਗੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਟ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੫॥
In the meantime, there arrived the peasant who was looking like an ugly bear.(5)
ਜਾਟਾਵਤਲਖਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਡਰਿਯੋਕਹਿਯੋਨਡਰਿਬਲਿਜਾਉ॥
ਜਟ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ। (ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ, ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ, ਡਰੋ ਨਾ।
The peasant’s arrival made the Raja scared, but the woman pacified him,
ਤਿਹਦੇਖਤਤੁਹਿਕਾਢਿਹੌਤਾਕੇਸਿਰਧਰਿਪਾਉ॥੬॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ (ਤੁਹਾਡਾ) ਪੈਰ ਰਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ (ਬਾਹਰ) ਕਢ ਦਿਆਂਗੀ ॥੬॥
‘Be not afraid. While the peasant is still watching, I will make you to cross over by putting your foot on his head.’(6)

ਏਕਕੁਠਰਿਯਾਬੀਚਰਾਵਕੋਰਾਖਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਇਕ ਕੋਠੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਰੋਇਬਚਨਮੂਰਖਸੋਇਹਬਿਧਿਭਾਖਿਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਉਸ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,
She hid the Raja in the inner dark room and came out crying and said
ਰੈਨਸਮੈਇਕਬੁਰੋਸੁਪਨਮੁਹਿਆਇਯੋ॥
ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਭੈੜਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ।
ਹੋਜਾਨੁਕਤੋਕਹਸ੍ਯਾਮਭੁਜੰਗਚਬਾਇਯੋ॥੭॥
(ਇੰਜ ਲਗਦਾ ਸੀ) ਮਾਨੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਾਲੇ ਨਾਗ ਨੇ ਚਬ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੭॥
To that naive, ‘I had a bad dream last night you were bitten by a black reptile.(7)

ਤਾਤੇਮੈਅਪਨੇਸਦਨਦਿਜਬਰਲਿਯੋਬੁਲਾਇ॥
ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ (ਇਕ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
‘(To seek an antidote) I called a Brahmin to the house,
ਉਨਮੋਕੋਐਸੇਕਹਿਯੋਭੇਦਸਕਲਸਮਝਾਇ॥੮॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੇਦ ਸਮਝਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
‘And the Brahmin made me to understand this.(8)
ਜੋਕੋਊਨਾਰਿਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤਾਜਾਪੁਜਪੈਹਿਤੁਲਾਇ॥
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤਾ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਪ ਕਰੇ,
‘A Raja-like person was manifested
ਅਕਸਮਾਤ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਗਟੈਪੁਰਖਏਕਭੂਪਕੇਭਾਇ॥੯॥
ਤਾਂ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਰਾਜੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੯॥
When a chaste woman meditated with devotion.(9)
ਜੌਤੁਮਰੇਸਿਰਜਾਇਧਰਿਪੁਰਖਪਾਵਬਡਭਾਗ॥
ਜੇ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਰਖ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਵੇ (ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ) ਵਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
‘If that person walked over putting his feet on your head and saying nothing,
ਜੋਤੁਮਹੂੰਜੀਵਤਬਚੋਹਮਰੋਬਚੈਸੁਹਾਗ॥੧੦॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਬਚ ਜਾਓਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਬਚ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੧੦॥
‘Then you could live long and save my nuptial tie.(10)
ਤਾਤੇਤਵਆਗ੍ਯਾਭਏਜਾਪੁਜਪਤਹੌਜਾਇ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
‘Now with your permission I meditate because with your demise I
ਤੁਮਰੇਮਰੇਮੈਜਰਿਮਰੋਜਿਯੇਜਿਵੋਸੁਖੁਪਾਇ॥੧੧॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੜ ਮਰਾਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ॥੧੧॥
Will immolate myself and along with your life (hereafter) I will enjoy the serenity.’(11)
ਜੌਹੌਹੋਸੁਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤਾਜੌਮੋਮੈਸਤਆਇ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Then the woman mediated and beseeched, ‘If I am chaste and virtuous,
ਏਕਪੁਰਖਤਬਜਾਇਧਰਿਯਾਕੇਸਿਰਪਰਿਪਾਇ॥੧੨॥
ਤਦ ਇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ (ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਰਖ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੧੨॥
A personality should manifest and walk over putting one foot on the head of my husband.’(l2)
ਸੁਨਤਬਚਨਰਾਜਾਉਠਿਯੋਤਾਕੇਸਿਰਪਗਠਾਨਿ॥
(ਇਹ) ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
Hearing this the Raja got up, putting his foot on his head walked
ਗਯੋਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ੍ਯਮੂਰਖਭਯੋਤ੍ਰਿਯਾਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤਜਾਨਿ॥੧੩॥
(ਉਹ) ਮੂਰਖ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੩॥
Over. And that fool, considering his wife to be beyond reproach, was delighted.( 13)(1)

ਸਾਹਜਹਾਨਾਬਾਦਮੈਏਕਤੁਰਕਕੀਨਾਰਿ॥
ਸ਼ਾਹਜਹਾਨਬਾਦ (ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ('ਤੁਰਕ') ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
A Muslim woman used to live in the city of Shahjehanbad.
ਇਕਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਅਤਿਤਿਨਕਿਯੋਸੋਤੁਹਿਕਹੋਸੁਧਾਰਿ॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
Now, with due modification, I re-narrate the wonder she performed.(l)
ਅਨਿਕਪੁਰਖਤਾਸੋਸਦਾਨਿਸੁਦਿਨਕੇਲਕਮਾਹਿ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਕਾਮ-ਵਿਲਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
Day and night numerous persons came to her and frolicked in making love.
ਸ੍ਵਾਨਹੇਰਿਲਾਜਤਤਿਨੈਇਕਆਵਹਿਇਕਜਾਹਿ॥੨॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਇਕ ਆਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਇਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
Even the dogs were ashamed of her actions.(2)

ਸੋਇਕਰਹੈਮੁਗਲਕੀਬਾਮਾ॥
ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
She was the daughter of a Mughal and
ਜੈਨਾਬਾਦੀਤਾਕੋਨਾਮਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜੈਨਾਬਾਦੀ ਸੀ।
Her name was Zainabadi.
ਬਹੁਪੁਰਖਨਸੋਕੇਲਕਮਾਵੈ॥
(ਉਹ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ।
Indulging in lovemaking
ਅਧਿਕਢੀਠਨਹਿਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਲਜਾਵੈ॥੩॥
(ਉਹ) ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਢੀਠ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਜਾਉਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ॥੩॥
She had become shameless.(3)

ਜਾਹਿਦਖਾਆਗੇਹੁਤੋਬੇਗਯੂਸਫਗਯੋਆਇ॥
ਜਾਹਿਦ ਖਾਂ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ) ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੀ, (ਉਪਰੋਂ) ਯੂਸਫ਼ ਬੇਗ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
A person called Zaahid Khan was with her when another person, named Yusaf Khan, came as well.
ਭਰਭਰਾਇਉਠਠਾਢਭੀਤਾਹਿਬੈਦਠਹਰਾਇ॥੪॥
(ਉਹ) ਘਬਰਾ ਕੇ ਉਠ ਖੜੋਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਦ ਵਜੋਂ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ (ਮੰਨਿਆ) ॥੪॥
She got up abruptly and told Zaahid Khan, ‘I have called in a vaid, the lay-doctor, for you.’(4)

ਟਰਿਆਗੇਤਿਹਲਿਯੋਬਚਨਯੌਭਾਖਿਯੋ॥
(ਉਹ) ਅਗੇ ਵੱਧ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ
She came forward and said that she had called in a vaid,
ਤੁਮਰੇਅਰਥਹਿਬੈਦਬੋਲਿਮੈਰਾਖਿਯੋ॥
ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਵੈਦ ਬੁਲਾ ਰਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
Just for him (Zaahid Khan).
ਤਾਤੇਬੇਗਿਇਲਾਜਬੁਲਾਇਕਰਾਇਯੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਜਲਦੀ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਾਓ।
She stressed him to come forward, get treated immediately,
ਹੋਹ੍ਵੈਕਰਿਅਬੈਅਰੋਗਤੁਰਤਘਰਜਾਇਯੈ॥੫॥
ਹੁਣੇ ਅਰੋਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਓ ॥੫॥
And briskly leave for his home after becoming disease free.(5)

ਦੌਰੇਆਵਤਹੌਕਨੀਸੋਏਊਰਧਸ੍ਵਾਸ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਦੌੜੇ ਆਉਣ ਨਾਲ (ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ) ਹੌਂਕਣੀ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਤੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਲੰਬੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
‘Running to this house, you become breathless, in sleep you breath enigmatically and you are always feeling pain in your knees.
ਬਹੁਠਾਢੇਜਾਨੂੰਦੁਖੈਯਹੈਤ੍ਰਿਦੋਖਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ॥੬॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਦੇਰ ਖੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ ਗੋਡੇ ਦੁਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ (ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ) ਤਿੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ('ਤ੍ਰਿਦੋਖ') ਹੈ ॥੬॥
‘You are suffering from a triple-disease,(6)

ਤੁਮਰੋਕਰੋਇਲਾਜਨਹਾਸੀਜਾਨਿਯੋ॥
(ਵੈਦ ਬਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਹਾਸੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ।
‘I will get you treated there is nothing to laugh at.
