ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਮਾਰੂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਜਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਗਹਿਗਹਿਗਦਾਗੁਰਜਗਾਜੀਸਬਹਠਿਰਣਿਆਨਿਗਜੇ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਗਾਜ਼ੀ (ਯੋਧੇ) ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਗਦਾ ਪਕੜ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਹਠ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਣ ਗਜੇ ਹਨ।
The thundering horns were blown in all the four directions and the warriors holding their maces stood firmly and persistently in the battlefield
ਬਾਨਕਮਾਨਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਸੈਹਥੀਬਾਣਪ੍ਰਯੋਘਚਲਾਏ॥
ਬਾਣ, ਕਮਾਨ, ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ, ਸੈਹਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਏ ਹਨ।
The arrows, bows, swords, lances etc. were used
ਜਾਨੁਕਮਹਾਮੇਘਬੂੰਦਨਜ੍ਯੋਂਬਿਸਿਖਬ੍ਰਯੂਹਿਬਰਸਾਏ॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਣੇ ਬਦਲਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਿਸ਼ੈਲੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਪਾਸਿਓਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The clusters of arrows were discharged in showers like the rain-drops from the clouds
ਚਟਪਟਚਰਮਬਰਮਸਬਬੇਧੇਸਟਪਟਪਾਰਪਰਾਨੇ॥
ਝਟਪਟ ਢਾਲਾਂ, ਕਵਚਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਘਿਸਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
The arrows piercing the armours and leather penetrated directly to the other side
ਖਟਪਟਸਰਬਭੂਮਿਕੇਬੇਧੇਨਾਗਨਲੋਕਸਿਧਾਨੇ॥
ਤਿਖੇ ਤੀਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਨਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ (ਪਾਤਾਲ) ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਹਨ।
And even went to the nether-world after piercing the earth
ਝਮਕਤਖੜਗਕਾਢਿਨਾਨਾਬਿਧਿਸੈਹਥੀਸੁਭਟਚਲਾਵਤ॥
ਯੋਧੇ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਮਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਹਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਾਨੁਕਪ੍ਰਗਟਬਾਟਸੁਰਪੁਰਕੀਨੀਕੇਹਿਰਦੇਦਿਖਾਵਤ॥੧੦੯॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਸਵਰਗ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੯॥
The warriors struck the gleaming daggers and lances and these weapons looked like piercing the hearts and showing them the path to heaven.35.109.

ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਤੇਤਜਦੇਹਨੇਹਸੰਪਤਿਕੋਭਏਸੁਰਗਕੇਬਾਸੀ॥
ਉਹ ਦੇਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਨੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Innumerable Sannyasis were pierced with the arrows and they all became the residents of heaven, forsaking the attachment of wealth and property
ਚਰਮਬਰਮਰਥਧੁਜਾਪਤਾਕਾਬਹੁਬਿਧਿਕਾਟਿਗਿਰਾਏ॥
ਢਾਲਾਂ, ਕਵਚ, ਰਥ, ਝੰਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਝੰਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਟ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The armours, banners, chariots and flags etc. were cut down and caused to fall
ਸੋਭਤਭਏਇੰਦ੍ਰਪੁਰਜਮਪੁਰਸੁਰਪੁਰਨਿਰਖਲਜਾਏ॥
(ਉਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਇੰਦਰਪੁਰੀ, ਜਮਪੁਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਪੁਰੀ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਲਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
They all extended the glory of heaven and the abodes of Indra and Yama
ਭੂਖਨਬਸਤ੍ਰਰੰਗਰੰਗਨਕੇਛੁਟਿਛੁਟਿਭੂਮਿਗਿਰੇ॥
ਗਹਿਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਰੰਗ ਦੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਛੁਟ ਛੁਟ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
Their multi-coloured garments fell on the ground
ਜਨੁਕਅਸੋਕਬਾਗਦਿਵਪਤਿਕੇਪੁਹਪਬਸੰਤਿਝਰੇ॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਅਸ਼ੋਕ ਬਾਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਸੰਤੀ ਫੁਲ ਝੜ ਪਏ ਹੋਣ।
They appeared like flowers dropping down in spring in Ashok Vatika
ਕਟਿਕਟਿਗਿਰੇਗਜਨਕੁੰਭਸਥਲਮੁਕਤਾਬਿਥੁਰਿਪਰੇ॥
ਕਟ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਡਿਗੇ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ (ਉਪਰ ਸਜੇ) ਮੋਤੀ ਖਿਲਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਜਾਨੁਕਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਕੁੰਡਮੁਖਛੁਟੈਜਲਕਨਸੁਭਗਝਰੇ॥੧੧੦॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੁੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਖੁਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਜਲ-ਕਣ ਝੜ ਪਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੧੦॥
The trunks of the elephants and the pearl-necklaces were lying scattered on the earth and appeared like the scattered water drops from the pool of ambrosia.36.110.

ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਉਤੇ) ਆ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਢਿਕਾਢਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣਧਾਵਤਮਾਰੁਮਾਰੁਉਚਾਰਿ॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਾਂ ਕਢ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਭਜੀ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ 'ਮਾਰ ਲੌ ਮਾਰ ਲੌ' ਬੋਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The warriors fell from both the directions and taking out the swords they marched forward shouting “kill, kill”
ਪਾਨਰੋਕਿਸਰੋਖਰਾਵਤਕ੍ਰੁਧਜੁਧਫਿਰੇ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਪੈਰ ਗਡ ਕੇ, ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗਾਹਿਗਾਹਿਗਜੀਰਥੀਰਣਿਅੰਤਿਭੂਮਿਗਿਰੇ॥
ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਥਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਹ ਗਾਹ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
Holding their weapons in their hands, the angry warriors wandered and killing the elephant-drivers and the charioteers, they ultimately fell down on the earth
ਤਾਨਿਤਾਨਿਸੰਧਾਨਬਾਨਪ੍ਰਮਾਨਕਾਨਸੁਬਾਹਿ॥
ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਣ ਤਣ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਤਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਤਕ ਖਿਚ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਾਹਿਬਾਹਿਫਿਰੇਸੁਬਾਹਨਛਤ੍ਰਧਰਮਨਿਬਾਹਿ॥
ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਧਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰ (ਬਾਣ) ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Pulling the bows upto their ears, they discharged the arrows and in this way, striking the blows with their weapons, they fulfilled the obligation of Kashatriyas
ਬੇਧਿਬੇਧਿਸੁਬਾਨਅੰਗਜੁਆਨਜੁਝੇਐਸ॥
(ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਅੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ (ਸੁਟ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੁਆਨ ਜੂਝ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਭੂਰਿਭਾਰਥਕੇਸਮੇਸਰਸੇਜਭੀਖਮਜੈਸ॥੧੧੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਹਾਭਾਰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਜਾ ਉਤੇ ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਪਿਤਾਮਾ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ ॥੧੧੧॥
Being pierced by the arrows, the warriors fell like the falling of Bhishma on the bed of arrows in the time of Arjuna.37.111.

In this way, many Snnyasis were killed
ਕੇਤਿਕਬਾਧਿਬਾਰਿਮੋਬੋਰੇਕਿਤੇਅਗਨਿਮੋਸਾਰੇ॥
ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਬੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਾੜਿਆ ਹੈ।
Many were tied and got drowned and many were burnt in fire
ਕੇਤਨਏਕਹਾਥਕਟਿਡਾਰੇਕੇਤਿਨਕੇਦ੍ਵੈਹਾਥ॥
ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਹੱਥ ਕਟ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਹੱਥ ਕਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
There were many whose one hand was cut and there were many others whose two hand were cut
ਤਿਲਤਿਲਪਾਇਰਥੀਕਟਿਡਾਰੇਕਟੇਕਿਤਨਕੇਮਾਥ॥
ਪੈਦਲ ਅਤੇ ਰਥਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਲ ਤਿਲ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਕਟ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ('ਮਾਥ') ਕਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
Many charioteers were torn into pieces and the heads of many were chopped
ਛਤ੍ਰਚਮ੍ਰਰਥਬਾਜਕਿਤਨੇਕੇਕਾਟਿਕਾਟਿਰਣਿਡਾਰੇ॥
ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਛਤ੍ਰ, ਚੌਰ, ਰਥ, ਘੋੜੇ ਕਟ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
The canopies, fly-whisks, chariots, horses etc. of many were chopped in the battlefield
ਕੇਤਨਮੁਕਟਲਕੁਟਲੈਤੋਰੇਕੇਤਨਜੂਟਉਪਾਰੇ॥
ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਟ ਡਾਂਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੰਨ੍ਹ ਸੁਟੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੂੜੇ ਪੁਟ ਸੁਟੇ ਹਨ।
The crowns of many were broken with staff and the knots of the matted locks of many were uprooted
ਭਕਿਭਕਿਗਿਰੇਭਿੰਭਰਬਸੁਧਾਪਰਘਾਇਅੰਗਭਿਭਰਾਰੇ॥
ਭੈ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਦੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗਣ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭਕ ਭਕ ਲਹੂ ਵਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Many were wounded and fell on the earth and from their limbs,
ਜਾਨੁਕਅੰਤਬਸੰਤਸਮੈਮਿਲਿਚਾਚਰਖੇਲਸਿਧਾਰੇ॥੧੧੨॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਲੀ ਖੇਡਣ ਚਲੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੧੨॥
The blood oozed out as if all were playing Holi in spring season.38.112.

ਆਨਿਆਨਿਫਿਰੀਚਹੂੰਦਿਸਿਨਾਰਿਨਾਗਰਿਭੇਸ॥
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ (ਅਪੱਛਰਾਵਾਂ) ਆ ਆ ਕੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਫਿਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The heavenly damsels gathered together in the battlefield from all the four directions after dressing their hair
ਚਿਬਕਚਾਰੁਸੁਧਾਰਬੇਸਰਡਾਰਿਕਾਜਰਨੈਨ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਠੋਡੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਨਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਥਾਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
They had pretty cheeks, there was antimony in their eyes and rings in their noses
ਜੀਵਜੰਤਨਕਾਚਲੀਚਿਤਲੇਤਚੋਰਸੁਮੈਨ॥
(ਆਮ) ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਚਲਣੀ ਸੀ, (ਉਹ) ਕਾਮਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਚਿਤ ਵੀ ਚੁਰਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
They were stealing the hearts of all like the thieves,
ਦੇਖਰੀਸੁਕੁਮਾਰਸੁੰਦਰਆਜੁਬਰਹੈਬੀਰ॥
ਉਸ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਜ ਇਸ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਾਂਗੀਆਂ।
And were conversing with one another regarding the application of saffron to the limbs,
ਬੀਨਬੀਨਧਰੋਸਬੰਗਨਸੁਧਕੇਸਰਿਚੀਰ॥
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਚੁਣ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਖਾਲਸ ਕੇਸਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Because the handsome princess was to be wedded on that day
ਚੀਨਚੀਨਬਰਿਹੈਸੁਬਾਹਸੁਮਧਜੁਧਉਛਾਹ॥
ਉਸ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਤਸਾਹ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਚੁਣ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਤੇਗਤੀਰਨਬਾਨਬਰਛਨਜੀਤਕਰਿਹੈਬਯਾਹ॥੧੧੩॥
ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ, ਤੀਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਛੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਤਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧੧੩॥
The enthusiastic heavenly damsels were picking up those warriors in the war-arena who were being conquered with swords, arrows, bows, lances etc. and were marrying those fine fighters.39.113.
