ਅੰਤੁਨਹੀਕਿਛੁਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ) ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
He has no end or limitation.
ਹੁਕਮੇਧਾਰਿਅਧਰਰਹਾਵੈ॥
(ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Order, He established the earth, and He maintains it unsupported.
ਹੁਕਮੇਉਪਜੈਹੁਕਮਿਸਮਾਵੈ॥
(ਜਗਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By His Order, the world was created; by His Order, it shall merge again into Him.
ਹੁਕਮੇਊਚਨੀਚਬਿਉਹਾਰ॥
ਉੱਚੇ ਤੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ,
By His Order, one's occupation is high or low.
ਹੁਕਮੇਅਨਿਕਰੰਗਪਰਕਾਰ॥
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
By His Order, there are so many colors and forms.
ਕਰਿਕਰਿਦੇਖੈਅਪਨੀਵਡਿਆਈ॥
ਆਪਣੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ (ਦੇ ਕੰਮ) ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Having created the Creation, He beholds His own greatness.
ਨਾਨਕਸਭਮਹਿਰਹਿਆਸਮਾਈ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
O Nanak, He is pervading in all. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਵੈਮਾਨੁਖਗਤਿਪਾਵੈ॥
ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
If it pleases God, one attains salvation.
ਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਵੈਤਾਪਾਥਰਤਰਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਪੱਥਰ (-ਦਿਲਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
If it pleases God, then even stones can swim.
ਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਵੈਬਿਨੁਸਾਸਤੇਰਾਖੈ॥
ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਾਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ (ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life.
ਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਵੈਤਾਹਰਿਗੁਣਭਾਖੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
If it pleases God, then one chants the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਵੈਤਾਪਤਿਤਉਧਾਰੈ॥
ਜੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਗਿਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਚਲਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
If it pleases God, then even sinners are saved.
ਆਪਿਕਰੈਆਪਨਬੀਚਾਰੈ॥
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself acts, and He Himself contemplates.
ਦੁਹਾਸਿਰਿਆਕਾਆਪਿਸੁਆਮੀ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ,
He Himself is the Master of both worlds.
ਖੇਲੈਬਿਗਸੈਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ॥
ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪ ਜਗਤ-ਖੇਡ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He plays and He enjoys; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਜੋਭਾਵੈਸੋਕਾਰਕਰਾਵੈ॥
ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
As He wills, He causes actions to be done.
ਨਾਨਕਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀਅਵਰੁਨਆਵੈ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ॥੨॥
Nanak sees no other than Him. ||2||
ਕਹੁਮਾਨੁਖਤੇਕਿਆਹੋਇਆਵੈ॥
ਦੱਸੋ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ) ਕੇਹੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Tell me - what can a mere mortal do?
ਜੋਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਸੋਈਕਰਾਵੈ॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whatever pleases God is what He causes us to do.
ਇਸਕੈਹਾਥਿਹੋਇਤਾਸਭੁਕਿਛੁਲੇਇ॥
ਇਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਸਾਂਭ ਲਏ,
If it were in our hands, we would grab up everything.
ਜੋਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਸੋਈਕਰੇਇ॥
(ਪਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whatever pleases God - that is what He does.
ਅਨਜਾਨਤਬਿਖਿਆਮਹਿਰਚੈ॥
ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Through ignorance, people are engrossed in corruption.
ਜੇਜਾਨਤਆਪਨਆਪਬਚੈ॥
ਜੇ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹੇ;
If they knew better, they would save themselves.
ਭਰਮੇਭੂਲਾਦਹਦਿਸਿਧਾਵੈ॥
(ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਿਰ) ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
Deluded by doubt, they wander around in the ten directions.
ਨਿਮਖਮਾਹਿਚਾਰਿਕੁੰਟਫਿਰਿਆਵੈ॥
ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਫੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਚਹੁੰ ਕੂਟਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੱਜ ਦੌੜ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
In an instant, their minds go around the four corners of the world and come back again.
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਜਿਸੁਅਪਨੀਭਗਤਿਦੇਇ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His devotional worship
ਨਾਨਕਤੇਜਨਨਾਮਿਮਿਲੇਇ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
- O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Naam. ||3||
ਖਿਨਮਹਿਨੀਚਕੀਟਕਉਰਾਜ॥
ਖਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੀੜੇ (ਵਰਗੇ) ਨੀਵੇਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
In an instant, the lowly worm is transformed into a king.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਰੀਬਨਿਵਾਜ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The Supreme Lord God is the Protector of the humble.
ਜਾਕਾਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਕਛੂਨਆਵੈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸ ਆਉਂਦਾ,
Even one who has never been seen at all,
ਤਿਸੁਤਤਕਾਲਦਹਦਿਸਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਉੱਘਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
becomes instantly famous in the ten directions.
ਜਾਕਉਅਪੁਨੀਕਰੈਬਖਸੀਸ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
And that one upon whom He bestows His blessings
ਤਾਕਾਲੇਖਾਨਗਨੈਜਗਦੀਸ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਣਦਾ।
the Lord of the world does not hold him to his account.
ਜੀਉਪਿੰਡੁਸਭਤਿਸਕੀਰਾਸਿ॥
ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ,
Soul and body are all His property.
ਘਟਿਘਟਿਪੂਰਨਬ੍ਰਹਮਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ॥
ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਲਵਾ ਹੈ।
Each and every heart is illuminated by the Perfect Lord God.
ਅਪਨੀਬਣਤਆਪਿਬਨਾਈ॥
ਇਹ (ਜਗਤ-) ਰਚਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ।
He Himself fashioned His own handiwork.
ਨਾਨਕਜੀਵੈਦੇਖਿਬਡਾਈ॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣੀ (ਇਸ) ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
Nanak lives by beholding His greatness. ||4||
ਇਸਕਾਬਲੁਨਾਹੀਇਸੁਹਾਥ॥
ਇਸ (ਜੀਵ) ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
There is no power in the hands of mortal beings;
ਕਰਨਕਰਾਵਨਸਰਬਕੋਨਾਥ॥
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ।
the Doer, the Cause of causes is the Lord of all.
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀਬਪੁਰਾਜੀਉ॥
ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
The helpless beings are subject to His Command.
ਜੋਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਸੋਈਫੁਨਿਥੀਉ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਓਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
That which pleases Him, ultimately comes to pass.
ਕਬਹੂਊਚਨੀਚਮਹਿਬਸੈ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ) ਕਦੇ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਨੀਵਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they abide in exaltation; sometimes, they are depressed.
ਕਬਹੂਸੋਗਹਰਖਰੰਗਿਹਸੈ॥
ਕਦੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਜ ਵਿਚ ਹੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ;
Sometimes, they are sad, and sometimes they laugh with joy and delight.
ਕਬਹੂਨਿੰਦਚਿੰਦਬਿਉਹਾਰ॥
ਕਦੇ (ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਵਿਚਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they are occupied with slander and anxiety.
ਕਬਹੂਊਭਅਕਾਸਪਇਆਲ॥
ਕਦੇ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ) ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਚਾ (ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ) (ਕਦੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ) ਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ (ਡਿੱਗਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ);
Sometimes, they are high in the Akaashic Ethers, sometimes in the nether regions of the underworld.
ਕਬਹੂਬੇਤਾਬ੍ਰਹਮਬੀਚਾਰ॥
ਕਦੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਬੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਮਹਰਮ ਹੈ।
Sometimes, they know the contemplation of God.
ਨਾਨਕਆਪਿਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ॥੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
O Nanak, God Himself unites them with Himself. ||5||
ਕਬਹੂਨਿਰਤਿਕਰੈਬਹੁਭਾਤਿ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਕਦੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਚ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they dance in various ways.
ਕਬਹੂਸੋਇਰਹੈਦਿਨੁਰਾਤਿ॥
ਕਦੇ ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Sometimes, they remain asleep day and night.
ਕਬਹੂਮਹਾਕ੍ਰੋਧਬਿਕਰਾਲ॥
ਕਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ) ਬੜਾ ਡਰਾਉਣਾ (ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ),
Sometimes, they are awesome, in terrible rage.
ਕਬਹੂੰਸਰਬਕੀਹੋਤਰਵਾਲ॥
ਕਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ);
Sometimes, they are the dust of the feet of all.
ਕਬਹੂਹੋਇਬਹੈਬਡਰਾਜਾ॥
ਕਦੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they sit as great kings.
ਕਬਹੁਭੇਖਾਰੀਨੀਚਕਾਸਾਜਾ॥
ਕਦੇ ਇਕ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਗ (ਬਣਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ);
Sometimes, they wear the coat of a lowly beggar.
ਕਬਹੂਅਪਕੀਰਤਿਮਹਿਆਵੈ॥
ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਕਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they come to have evil reputations.
ਕਬਹੂਭਲਾਭਲਾਕਹਾਵੈ॥
ਕਦੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਅਖਵਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ;
Sometimes, they are known as very, very good.
ਜਿਉਪ੍ਰਭੁਰਾਖੈਤਿਵਹੀਰਹੈ॥
ਜੀਵ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
As God keeps them, so they remain.
ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿਨਾਨਕੁਸਚੁਕਹੈ॥੬॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, the Truth is told. ||6||
ਕਬਹੂਹੋਇਪੰਡਿਤੁਕਰੇਬਖੵਾਨੁ॥
(ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਕਦੇ ਪੰਡਤ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, as scholars, they deliver lectures.
ਕਬਹੂਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀਲਾਵੈਧਿਆਨੁ॥
ਕਦੇ ਮੋਨੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ;
Sometimes, they hold to silence in deep meditation.
ਕਬਹੂਤਟਤੀਰਥਇਸਨਾਨ॥
ਕਦੇ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they take cleansing baths at places of pilgrimage.
ਕਬਹੂਸਿਧਸਾਧਿਕਮੁਖਿਗਿਆਨ॥
ਕਦੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਿਕ (ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
Sometimes, as Siddhas or seekers, they impart spiritual wisdom.
ਕਬਹੂਕੀਟਹਸਤਿਪਤੰਗਹੋਇਜੀਆ॥
ਕਦੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਭੰਬਟ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਜੀਵ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
Sometimes, they becomes worms, elephants, or moths.
ਅਨਿਕਜੋਨਿਭਰਮੈਭਰਮੀਆ॥
ਅਤੇ (ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ) ਭਵਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਉਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ;
They may wander and roam through countless incarnations.
