ਕਈਕੋਟਿਦੇਵਦਾਨਵਇੰਦ੍ਰਸਿਰਿਛਤ੍ਰ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ;
Many millions are the demi-gods, demons and Indras, under their regal canopies.
ਸਗਲਸਮਗ੍ਰੀਅਪਨੈਸੂਤਿਧਾਰੈ॥
(ਇਹਨਾਂ) ਸਾਰੇ (ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ (ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ) ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
He has strung the entire creation upon His thread.
ਨਾਨਕਜਿਸੁਜਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਤਿਸੁਤਿਸੁਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
O Nanak, He emancipates those with whom He is pleased. ||3||
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਰਾਜਸਤਾਮਸਸਾਤਕ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਰਜੋ, ਤਮੋ ਤੇ ਸਤੋ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ,
Many millions abide in heated activity, slothful darkness and peaceful light.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਬੇਦਪੁਰਾਨਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿਅਰੁਸਾਸਤ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ (ਬੰਦੇ) ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ (ਦੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹਨ;
Many millions are the Vedas, Puraanas, Simritees and Shaastras.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਕੀਏਰਤਨਸਮੁਦ॥
ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਰਤਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions are the pearls of the oceans.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਨਾਨਾਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਜੰਤ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ;
Many millions are the beings of so many descriptions.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਕੀਏਚਿਰਜੀਵੇ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਉਮਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions are made long-lived.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਗਿਰੀਮੇਰਸੁਵਰਨਥੀਵੇ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ;
Many millions of hills and mountains have been made of gold.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਜਖੵਕਿੰਨਰਪਿਸਾਚ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੱਖ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਤੇ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਚ ਹਨ,
Many millions are the Yakhshas - the servants of the god of wealth, the Kinnars - the gods of celestial music, and the evil spirits of the Pisaach.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਭੂਤਪ੍ਰੇਤਸੂਕਰਮ੍ਰਿਗਾਚ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਸੂਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹਨ;
Many millions are the evil nature-spirits, ghosts, pigs and tigers.
ਸਭਤੇਨੇਰੈਸਭਹੂਤੇਦੂਰਿ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਭੀ।
He is near to all, and yet far from all;
ਨਾਨਕਆਪਿਅਲਿਪਤੁਰਹਿਆਭਰਪੂਰਿ॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਭੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ॥੪॥
O Nanak, He Himself remains distinct, while yet pervading all. ||4||
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਪਾਤਾਲਕੇਵਾਸੀ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions inhabit the nether regions.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਨਰਕਸੁਰਗਨਿਵਾਸੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਰਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਦੁਖੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਹਨ);
Many millions dwell in heaven and hell.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਜਨਮਹਿਜੀਵਹਿਮਰਹਿ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions are born, live and die.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਬਹੁਜੋਨੀਫਿਰਹਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ;
Many millions are reincarnated, over and over again.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਬੈਠਤਹੀਖਾਹਿ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions eat while sitting at ease.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਘਾਲਹਿਥਕਿਪਾਹਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ (ਐਸੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਮੇਹਨਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਥੱਕ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ;
Many millions are exhausted by their labors.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਕੀਏਧਨਵੰਤ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ) ਧਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ,
Many millions are created wealthy.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਚਿੰਤ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ (ਐਸੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Many millions are anxiously involved in Maya.
ਜਹਜਹਭਾਣਾਤਹਤਹਰਾਖੇ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਓਥੇ ਓਥੇ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
Wherever He wills, there He keeps us.
ਨਾਨਕਸਭੁਕਿਛੁਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਹਾਥੇ॥੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੇਕ ਗੱਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
O Nanak, everything is in the Hands of God. ||5||
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਭਏਬੈਰਾਗੀ॥
(ਇਸ ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਚ) ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
Many millions become Bairaagees, who renounce the world.
ਰਾਮਨਾਮਸੰਗਿਤਿਨਲਿਵਲਾਗੀ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ;
They have attached themselves to the Lord's Name.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਖੋਜੰਤੇ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions are searching for God.
ਆਤਮਮਹਿਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਲਹੰਤੇ॥
ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ;
Within their souls, they find the Supreme Lord God.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਦਰਸਨਪ੍ਰਭਪਿਆਸ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
Many millions thirst for the Blessing of God's Darshan.
ਤਿਨਕਉਮਿਲਿਓਪ੍ਰਭੁਅਬਿਨਾਸ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They meet with God, the Eternal.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਮਾਗਹਿਸਤਸੰਗੁ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤ-ਸੰਗ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions pray for the Society of the Saints.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਤਿਨਲਾਗਾਰੰਗੁ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
They are imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God.
ਜਿਨਕਉਹੋਏਆਪਿਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਤ੍ਰੁੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those with whom He Himself is pleased,
ਨਾਨਕਤੇਜਨਸਦਾਧਨਿਧੰਨਿ॥੬॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
O Nanak, are blessed, forever blessed. ||6||
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਖਾਣੀਅਰੁਖੰਡ॥
(ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਨੌ) ਖੰਡਾਂ (ਚਹੁੰਆਂ) ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
Many millions are the fields of creation and the galaxies.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਅਕਾਸਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਹਨ;
Many millions are the etheric skies and the solar systems.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਹੋਏਅਵਤਾਰ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ;
Many millions are the divine incarnations.
ਕਈਜੁਗਤਿਕੀਨੋਬਿਸਥਾਰ॥
ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ;
In so many ways, He has unfolded Himself.
ਕਈਬਾਰਪਸਰਿਓਪਾਸਾਰ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ) ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
So many times, He has expanded His expansion.
ਸਦਾਸਦਾਇਕੁਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ॥
(ਮੁੜ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੇਟ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ-ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
Forever and ever, He is the One, the One Universal Creator.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਕੀਨੇਬਹੁਭਾਤਿ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
Many millions are created in various forms.
ਪ੍ਰਭਤੇਹੋਏਪ੍ਰਭਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਤਿ॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
From God they emanate, and into God they merge once again.
ਤਾਕਾਅੰਤੁਨਜਾਨੈਕੋਇ॥
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ;
His limits are not known to anyone.
ਆਪੇਆਪਿਨਾਨਕਪ੍ਰਭੁਸੋਇ॥੭॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
Of Himself, and by Himself, O Nanak, God exists. ||7||
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਕੇਦਾਸ॥
(ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਚ) ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ (ਭਗਤ) ਹਨ,
Many millions are the servants of the Supreme Lord God.
ਤਿਨਹੋਵਤਆਤਮਪਰਗਾਸ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
Their souls are enlightened.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਤਤਕੇਬੇਤੇ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੀਵ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਅਸਲੇ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ) ਦੇ ਮਹਰਮ ਹਨ,
Many millions know the essence of reality.
ਸਦਾਨਿਹਾਰਹਿਏਕੋਨੇਤ੍ਰੇ॥
ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ;
Their eyes gaze forever on the One alone.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਨਾਮਰਸੁਪੀਵਹਿ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions drink in the essence of the Naam.
ਅਮਰਭਏਸਦਸਦਹੀਜੀਵਹਿ॥
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They become immortal; they live forever and ever.
ਕਈਕੋਟਿਨਾਮਗੁਨਗਾਵਹਿ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Many millions sing the Glorious Praises of the Naam.
ਆਤਮਰਸਿਸੁਖਿਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਵਹਿ॥
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They are absorbed in intuitive peace and pleasure.
ਅਪੁਨੇਜਨਕਉਸਾਸਿਸਾਸਿਸਮਾਰੇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਮ-ਬ-ਦਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
He remembers His servants with each and every breath.
ਨਾਨਕਓਇਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਕੇਪਿਆਰੇ॥੮॥੧੦॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੮॥੧੦॥
O Nanak, they are the beloveds of the Transcendent Lord God. ||8||10||
ਸਲੋਕੁ॥
Shalok:
ਕਰਣਕਾਰਣਪ੍ਰਭੁਏਕੁਹੈਦੂਸਰਨਾਹੀਕੋਇ॥
(ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ) ਜਗਤ ਦਾ (ਮੂਲ-) ਕਾਰਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਇਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
God alone is the Doer of deeds - there is no other at all.
ਨਾਨਕਤਿਸੁਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈਜਲਿਥਲਿਮਹੀਅਲਿਸੋਇ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਮੈਂ) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ (ਹਾਂ), ਜੋ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਥਲ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਤਲ ਉਤੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the One, who pervades the waters, the lands, the sky and all space. ||1||
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥
Ashtapadee:
ਕਰਨਕਰਾਵਨਕਰਨੈਜੋਗੁ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਭੀ ਹੈ,
The Doer, the Cause of causes, is potent to do anything.
ਜੋਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਸੋਈਹੋਗੁ॥
ਓਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
That which pleases Him, comes to pass.
ਖਿਨਮਹਿਥਾਪਿਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ॥
ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਫੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
In an instant, He creates and destroys.
