ਨਾਨਕਤਾਕੈਲਾਗਉਪਾਏ॥੩॥
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ, ਆਖ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ) ਦੀ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲੱਗਾਂ ॥੩॥
Nanak grasps the feet of those humble beings. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਾਸਿਮਰਨੁਸਭਤੇਊਚਾ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ (ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਹਰਾਂ) ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ;
The remembrance of God is the highest and most exalted of all.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਉਧਰੇਮੂਚਾ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ (ਜੀਵ) (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
In the remembrance of God, many are saved.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਬੁਝੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
In the remembrance of God, thirst is quenched.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਸਭੁਕਿਛੁਸੁਝੈ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਹਰੇਕ (ਕੇਲ) ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
In the remembrance of God, all things are known.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਨਾਹੀਜਮਤ੍ਰਾਸਾ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
In the remembrance of God, there is no fear of death.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਪੂਰਨਆਸਾ॥
ਤੇ (ਜੀਵ ਦੀ) ਆਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਸਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਨ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
In the remembrance of God, hopes are fulfilled.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਮਨਕੀਮਲੁਜਾਇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
In the remembrance of God, the filth of the mind is removed.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਾਮੁਰਿਦਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਅਮਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is absorbed into the heart.
ਪ੍ਰਭਜੀਬਸਹਿਸਾਧਕੀਰਸਨਾ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਉਤੇ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ)।
God abides upon the tongues of His Saints.
ਨਾਨਕਜਨਕਾਦਾਸਨਿਦਸਨਾ॥੪॥
(ਆਖ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਮੈਂ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ (ਬਣਾਂ) ॥੪॥
Nanak is the servant of the slave of His slaves. ||4||
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਧਨਵੰਤੇ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਧਨਾਢ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God are wealthy.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ॥
ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
Those who remember God are honorable.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਜਨਪਰਵਾਨ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੰਨੇ-ਪ੍ਰਮੰਨੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God are approved.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਪੁਰਖਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ॥
ਤੇ ਉਹ (ਸਭ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ।
Those who remember God are the most distinguished persons.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸਿਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜੇ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਮੁਥਾਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God are not lacking.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸਿਸਰਬਕੇਰਾਜੇ॥
ਉਹ (ਤਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ) ਸਭ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹਨ।
Those who remember God are the rulers of all.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸੁਖੀ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God dwell in peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸਦਾਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who remember God are immortal and eternal.
ਸਿਮਰਨਤੇਲਾਗੇਜਿਨਆਪਿਦਇਆਲਾ॥
(ਪਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਿ ਮੇਹਰਬਾਨ (ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ);
They alone hold to the remembrance of Him, unto whom He Himself shows His Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕਜਨਕੀਮੰਗੈਰਵਾਲਾ॥੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਕੋਈ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
Nanak begs for the dust of their feet. ||5||
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God generously help others.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਤਿਨਸਦਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।
Those who remember God - to them, I am forever a sacrifice.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਮੁਖਸੁਹਾਵੇ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ (ਲੱਗਦੇ) ਹਨ,
Those who remember God - their faces are beautiful.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਤਿਨਸੂਖਿਬਿਹਾਵੈ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਉਮਰ) ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Those who remember God abide in peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਤਿਨਆਤਮੁਜੀਤਾ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God conquer their souls.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਤਿਨਨਿਰਮਲਰੀਤਾ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those who remember God have a pure and spotless lifestyle.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਤਿਨਅਨਦਘਨੇਰੇ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
Those who remember God experience all sorts of joys.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕਉਸਿਮਰਹਿਬਸਹਿਹਰਿਨੇਰੇ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who remember God abide near the Lord.
ਸੰਤਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਤੇਅਨਦਿਨੁਜਾਗਿ॥
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਜਾਗ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ;
By the Grace of the Saints, one remains awake and aware, night and day.
ਨਾਨਕਸਿਮਰਨੁਪੂਰੈਭਾਗਿ॥੬॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਮਰਨ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ (ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੬॥
O Nanak, this meditative remembrance comes only by perfect destiny. ||6||
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਕਾਰਜਪੂਰੇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਕੰਮ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ)
Remembering God, one's works are accomplished.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਕਬਹੁਨਝੂਰੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Remembering God, one never grieves.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਹਰਿਗੁਨਬਾਨੀ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਆਦਤ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ)
Remembering God, one speaks the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਨੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਹਜ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Remembering God, one is absorbed into the state of intuitive ease.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਨਿਹਚਲਆਸਨੁ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਮਨ ਰੂਪੀ) ਆਸਨ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ
Remembering God, one attains the unchanging position.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਕਮਲਬਿਗਾਸਨੁ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ) ਕਉਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Remembering God, the heart-lotus blossoms forth.
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਸਿਮਰਨਿਅਨਹਦਝੁਨਕਾਰ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸੰਗੀਤ (ਜਿਹਾ) (ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ),
Remembering God, the unstruck melody vibrates.
ਸੁਖੁਪ੍ਰਭਸਿਮਰਨਕਾਅੰਤੁਨਪਾਰ॥
(ਭਾਵ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ (ਉਪਜਦਾ) ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਕਦੇ) ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
The peace of the meditative remembrance of God has no end or limitation.
ਸਿਮਰਹਿਸੇਜਨਜਿਨਕਉਪ੍ਰਭਮਇਆ॥
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ;
They alone remember Him, upon whom God bestows His Grace.
ਨਾਨਕਤਿਨਜਨਸਰਨੀਪਇਆ॥੭॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਕੋਈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ) ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਣੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of those humble beings. ||7||
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨੁਕਰਿਭਗਤਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਏ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Remembering the Lord, His devotees are famous and radiant.
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨਿਲਗਿਬੇਦਉਪਾਏ॥
ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ) ਵੇਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕ) ਰਚੇ।
Remembering the Lord, the Vedas were composed.
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨਿਭਏਸਿਧਜਤੀਦਾਤੇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿੱਧ ਬਣ ਗਏ, ਜਤੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ, ਦਾਤੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ;
Remembering the Lord, we become Siddhas, celibates and givers.
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨਿਨੀਚਚਹੁਕੁੰਟਜਾਤੇ॥
ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਨੀਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
Remembering the Lord, the lowly become known in all four directions.
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨਿਧਾਰੀਸਭਧਰਨਾ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ;
For the remembrance of the Lord, the whole world was established.
ਸਿਮਰਿਸਿਮਰਿਹਰਿਕਾਰਨੁਕਰਨਾ॥
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰ।
Remember, remember in meditation the Lord, the Creator, the Cause of causes.
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨਿਕੀਓਸਗਲਅਕਾਰਾ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ;
For the remembrance of the Lord, He created the whole creation.
ਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨਮਹਿਆਪਿਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੈ ਓਥੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਆਪ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the remembrance of the Lord, He Himself is Formless.
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਜਿਸੁਆਪਿਬੁਝਾਇਆ॥
ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, He Himself bestows understanding.
ਨਾਨਕਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨੁਤਿਨਿਪਾਇਆ॥੮॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੧॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukh attains the remembrance of the Lord. ||8||1||

ਦੀਨਦਰਦਦੁਖਭੰਜਨਾਘਟਿਘਟਿਨਾਥਅਨਾਥ॥
ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਦ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ!
O Destroyer of the pains and the suffering of the poor, O Master of each and every heart, O Masterless One:
ਸਰਣਿਤੁਮੑਾਰੀਆਇਓਨਾਨਕਕੇਪ੍ਰਭਸਾਥ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
I have come seeking Your Sanctuary. O God, please be with Nanak! ||1||
