ਗਨਿਮਿਨਿਦੇਖਹੁਮਨੈਮਾਹਿਸਰਪਰਚਲਨੋਲੋਗ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ, ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਜਾਇਗਾ (ਫਿਰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ?)
See, that even by calculating and scheming in their minds, people must surely depart in the end.
ਆਸਅਨਿਤਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਮਿਟੈਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਅਰੋਗ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਆਸਾਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ) ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਨਾਸ-ਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Hopes and desires for transitory things are erased for the Gurmukh; O Nanak, the Name alone brings true health. ||1||

ਗਗਾਗੋਬਿਦਗੁਣਰਵਹੁਸਾਸਿਸਾਸਿਜਪਿਨੀਤ॥
(ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ!) ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ,
GAGGA: Chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe with each and every breath; meditate on Him forever.
ਕਹਾਬਿਸਾਸਾਦੇਹਕਾਬਿਲਮਨਕਰਿਹੋਮੀਤ॥
(ਵੇਖਣਾ) ਢਿੱਲ ਨ ਕਰਨੀ, ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
How can you rely on the body? Do not delay, my friend;
ਨਹਬਾਰਿਕਨਹਜੋਬਨੈਨਹਬਿਰਧੀਕਛੁਬੰਧੁ॥
ਬਾਲਪਨ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜੁਆਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
there is nothing to stand in Death's way - neither in childhood, nor in youth, nor in old age.
ਓਹਬੇਰਾਨਹਬੂਝੀਐਜਉਆਇਪਰੈਜਮਫੰਧੁ॥
ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਰੱਸਾ (ਗਲ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
That time is not known, when the noose of Death shall come and fall on you.
ਗਿਆਨੀਧਿਆਨੀਚਤੁਰਪੇਖਿਰਹਨੁਨਹੀਇਹਠਾਇ॥
ਵੇਖੋ! ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੋਣ, ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਣ, ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹੋਣ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ।
See, that even spiritual scholars, those who meditate, and those who are clever shall not stay in this place.
ਛਾਡਿਛਾਡਿਸਗਲੀਗਈਮੂੜਤਹਾਲਪਟਾਹਿ॥
ਮੂਰਖ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਫਾ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਗਈ।
Only the fool clings to that, which everyone else has abandoned and left behind.
ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿਸਿਮਰਤਰਹੈਜਾਹੂਮਸਤਕਿਭਾਗ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜੇ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, one who has such good destiny written on his forehead remembers the Lord in meditation.
ਨਾਨਕਆਏਸਫਲਤੇਜਾਕਉਪ੍ਰਿਅਹਿਸੁਹਾਗ॥੧੯॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗ (ਖਸਮਾਨਾ) ਨਸੀਬ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣਾ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥
O Nanak, blessed and fruitful is the coming of those who obtain the Beloved Lord as their Husband. ||19||
ਸਲੋਕੁ॥
Shalok:
ਘੋਖੇਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਬੇਦਸਭਆਨਨਕਥਤਉਕੋਇ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
I have searched all the Shaastras and the Vedas, and they say nothing except this:
ਆਦਿਜੁਗਾਦੀਹੁਣਿਹੋਵਤਨਾਨਕਏਕੈਸੋਇ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
"In the beginning, throughout the ages, now and forevermore, O Nanak, the One Lord alone exists." ||1||

ਘਘਾਘਾਲਹੁਮਨਹਿਏਹਬਿਨੁਹਰਿਦੂਸਰਨਾਹਿ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕ ਕਰ ਲਵੋ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
GHAGHA: Put this into your mind, that there is no one except the Lord.
ਨਹਹੋਆਨਹਹੋਵਨਾਜਤਕਤਓਹੀਸਮਾਹਿ॥
ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਹੋਇਆ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
There never was, and there never shall be. He is pervading everywhere.
ਘੂਲਹਿਤਉਮਨਜਉਆਵਹਿਸਰਨਾ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏਂ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੇਂਗਾ।
You shall be absorbed into Him, O mind, if you come to His Sanctuary.
ਨਾਮਤਤੁਕਲਿਮਹਿਪੁਨਹਚਰਨਾ॥
ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੀਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, shall be of any real use to you.
ਘਾਲਿਘਾਲਿਅਨਿਕਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ॥
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ (ਹਰੀ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਘਾਲਣਾ ਘਾਲ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
So many work and slave continually, but they come to regret and repent in the end.
ਬਿਨੁਹਰਿਭਗਤਿਕਹਾਥਿਤਿਪਾਵਹਿ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
Without devotional worship of the Lord, how can they find stability?
ਘੋਲਿਮਹਾਰਸੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁਤਿਹਪੀਆ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਵਾਲਾ (ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ) ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਘੋਲ ਕੇ ਪੀ ਲਿਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆਇਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਅੱਤ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸ਼ਰਬਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਚੋਂ)
They alone taste the supreme essence, and drink in the Ambrosial Nectar,
ਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਗੁਰਿਜਾਕਉਦੀਆ॥੨੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨੦॥
O Nanak, unto whom the Lord, the Guru, gives it. ||20||
ਸਲੋਕੁ॥
Shalok:
ਙਣਿਘਾਲੇਸਭਦਿਵਸਸਾਸਨਹਬਢਨਘਟਨਤਿਲੁਸਾਰ॥
(ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਸੁਆਸ ਗਿਣ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਇਕ ਤਿਲ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਵਧਾ ਘਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
He has counted all the days and the breaths, and placed them in people's destiny; they do not increase or decrease one little bit.
ਜੀਵਨਲੋਰਹਿਭਰਮਮੋਹਨਾਨਕਤੇਊਗਵਾਰ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਉਮਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ) ਜੀਊਣਾ ਲੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Those who long to live in doubt and emotional attachment, O Nanak, are total fools. ||1||

ਙੰਙਾਙ੍ਰਾਸੈਕਾਲੁਤਿਹਜੋਸਾਕਤਪ੍ਰਭਿਕੀਨ॥
ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
NGANGA: Death seizes those whom God has made into faithless cynics.
ਅਨਿਕਜੋਨਿਜਨਮਹਿਮਰਹਿਆਤਮਰਾਮੁਨਚੀਨ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They are born and they die, enduring countless incarnations; they do not realize the Lord, the Supreme Soul.
ਙਿਆਨਧਿਆਨਤਾਹੂਕਉਆਏ॥
(ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਜੋੜੀ,
They alone find spiritual wisdom and meditation,
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਜਿਹਆਪਿਦਿਵਾਏ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy;
ਙਣਤੀਙਣੀਨਹੀਕੋਊਛੂਟੈ॥
ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਿਆਂ (ਇਸ ਹੋਣੀ ਤੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
no one is emancipated by counting and calculating.
ਕਾਚੀਗਾਗਰਿਸਰਪਰਫੂਟੈ॥
(ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ) ਕੱਚਾ ਘੜਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਟੁੱਟਣਾ ਹੈ।
The vessel of clay shall surely break.
ਸੋਜੀਵਤਜਿਹਜੀਵਤਜਪਿਆ॥
(ਕੋਈ ਲੰਮੀ ਉਮਰ ਜੀਊ ਗਿਆ, ਕੋਈ ਥੋੜੀ) ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਸਮਝੋ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
They alone live, who, while alive, meditate on the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁਭਏਨਾਨਕਨਹਛਪਿਆ॥੨੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਣਾ ਭੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥
They are respected, O Nanak, and do not remain hidden. ||21||
ਸਲੋਕੁ॥

ਚਿਤਿਚਿਤਵਉਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦਊਧਕਵਲਬਿਗਸਾਂਤ॥
(ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ) ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ) ਉਲਟਿਆ ਮਨ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਾਂਗ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Focus your consciousness on His Lotus Feet, and the inverted lotus of your heart shall blossom forth.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁਭਏਆਪਹਿਗੋੁਬਿੰਦਨਾਨਕਸੰਤਮਤਾਂਤ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਰਗਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The Lord of the Universe Himself becomes manifest, O Nanak, through the Teachings of the Saints. ||1||

ਚਚਾਚਰਨਕਮਲਗੁਰਲਾਗਾ॥
ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮੱਥਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ,
CHACHA: Blessed, blessed is that day,
ਧਨਿਧਨਿਉਆਦਿਨਸੰਜੋਗਸਭਾਗਾ॥
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ, ਉਹ ਸਮਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝੋ।
when I became attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਚਾਰਿਕੁੰਟਦਹਦਿਸਿਭ੍ਰਮਿਆਇਓ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਜੀਵ) ਚੌਹੀਂ ਤਰਫ਼ੀਂ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਭਟਕ ਆਵੇ (ਤਦ ਭੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।)
After wandering around in the four quarters and the ten directions,
ਭਈਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਤਬਦਰਸਨੁਪਾਇਓ॥
ਦੀਦਾਰ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ। (ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ)।
God showed His Mercy to me, and then I obtained the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਚਾਰਬਿਚਾਰਬਿਨਸਿਓਸਭਦੂਆ॥
ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੁਅੱਛ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By pure lifestyle and meditation, all duality is removed.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਮਨੁਨਿਰਮਲਹੂਆ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the mind becomes immaculate.
ਚਿੰਤਬਿਸਾਰੀਏਕਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਿਤਵਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ),
Anxieties are forgotten, and the One Lord alone is seen,
ਨਾਨਕਗਿਆਨਅੰਜਨੁਜਿਹਨੇਤ੍ਰਾ॥੨੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ) ਸੂਝ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
O Nanak, by those whose eyes are anointed with the ointment of spiritual wisdom. ||22||

ਛਾਤੀਸੀਤਲਮਨੁਸੁਖੀਛੰਤਗੋਬਿਦਗੁਨਗਾਇ॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਡ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ,
The heart is cooled and soothed, and the mind is at peace, chanting and singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਐਸੀਕਿਰਪਾਕਰਹੁਪ੍ਰਭਨਾਨਕਦਾਸਦਸਾਇ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
Show such Mercy, O God, that Nanak may become the slave of Your slaves. ||1||

ਛਛਾਛੋਹਰੇਦਾਸਤੁਮਾਰੇ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਹਾਂ (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ)
CHHACHHA: I am Your child-slave.
ਦਾਸਦਾਸਨਕੇਪਾਨੀਹਾਰੇ॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੋਵੇ)।
I am the water-carrier of the slave of Your slaves.
ਛਛਾਛਾਰੁਹੋਤਤੇਰੇਸੰਤਾ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂ,
Chhachha: I long to become the dust under the feet of Your Saints.
