ਬਾਧਨਿਖੰਗਚਲੇਕਟਿਸੌਕਹਿਭ੍ਰਾਤਈਹਾਕਰਿਜੈਰਖਵਾਰੀ॥੩੫੩॥
ਝੱਟ ਹੀ ਲੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਭੱਥਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਲੱਛਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੩੫੩॥
He tied his quiver and left for bringing the golden deer, leaving behind Lakshman for Sita’s protection.353.
ਓਟਥਕਯੋਕਰਿਕੋਟਿਨਿਸਾਚਰਸ੍ਰੀਰਘੁਬੀਰਨਿਦਾਨਸੰਘਾਰਯੋ॥
ਦੈਂਤ (ਮਾਰੀਚ) ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਓਟਾਂ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ।
The demon Marich tried to put Ram in uncertainty by running away at a high speed, but ultimately he was tired and Ram killed him.
ਹੇਲਹੁਬੀਰਉਬਾਰਲੈਮੋਕਹਯੌਕਹਿਕੈਪੁਨਿਰਾਮਪੁਕਾਰਯੋ॥
(ਡਿੱਗਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਰੀਚ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ-) ਹੇ ਛੋਟੇ, ਭਾਈ ਲੱਛਮਣ!) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪੁਕਾਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ।
But at the time of death he shouted loudly in the voice of Ram, “O Brother, save me.”
ਜਾਨਕੀਬੋਲਕੁਬੋਲਸੁਨਯੋਤਬਹੀਤਿਹਓਰਸੁਮਿਤ੍ਰਪਠਾਯੋ॥
(ਮਾਰੀਚ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਕੁਬੋਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ (ਇਸ ਬੋਲ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਧਰ ਵਲ ਲੱਛਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ।
When Sita heard this frightening cry, she sent the mighty Lakshman to that side,
ਰੇਖਕਮਾਨਕੀਕਾਢਮਹਾਬਲਜਾਤਭਏਇਤਰਾਵਨਆਯੋ॥੩੫੪॥
ਮਹਾਂ ਬਲੀ ਲੱਛਮਣ (ਸੀਤਾ ਦੀ ਕੁਟੀਆ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਕਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਲਕੀਰ ਖਿੱਚ ਕੇ) ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ (ਇੰਨੇ ਨੂੰ) ਇਧਰ (ਜੋਗੀ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰੀ) ਰਾਵਣ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੩੫੪॥
Who before leaving drew a line there and then Ravana came in.354.
ਭੇਖਅਲੇਖਉਚਾਰਕੈਰਾਵਣਜਾਤਭਏਸੀਅਕੇਢਿਗਯੌ॥
ਭੇਖ ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ 'ਅਲੱਖ-ਅਲੱਖ' ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਾਵਣ ਸੀਤਾ ਕੋਲ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ
Wearing the garb of a Yogi and uttering the traditional invocation for alms, Ravan went near Sita,
ਅਵਿਲੋਕਧਨੀਧਨਵਾਨਬਡੋਤਿਹਜਾਇਮਿਲੈਮਗਮੋਠਗਜਯੋ॥
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਧਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
Like a thug visiting a wealthy person and said,
ਕਛੁਦੇਹੁਭਿਛਾਮ੍ਰਿਗਨੈਨਹਮੈਇਹਰੇਖਮਿਟਾਇਹਮੈਅਬਹੀ॥
(ਰਾਵਣ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ-) ਹੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ-ਨੈਣੀ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਭਿਛਿਆ ਦੇ। (ਜਦ ਸੀਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ-ਅਸੀਂ ਬੱਧੀ ਹੋਈ ਭਿਛਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ) ਹੁਣੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਲਕੀਰ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭਿਛਿਆ ਦੇ।
“O doe-eyed, cross this line and give me some alms,”
ਬਿਨੁਰੇਖਭਈਅਵਿਲੋਕਲਈਹਰਿਸੀਅਉਡਯੋਨਭਿਕਉਤਬਹੀ॥੩੫੫॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੇ ਲਕੀਰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ) ਅਤੇ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਲਕੀਰ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਕੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਲ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ॥੩੫੫॥
And when Ravan saw Sita crossing the line, he seized her and began to fly towards the sky.355.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨੇ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸੀਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗਹਿਬਾਨਸਿਲਾਸਿਤਸਜਿਧਨੰ॥
ਤਾਂ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਲ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਤੀਰ ਸਜਾ ਲਿਆ
When Ram visualized in his mind about the abduction of Sita, he caught hold of his bow and arrows in his hand and sat down on a white rock.
ਚਹੂੰਓਰਸੁਧਾਰਨਿਹਾਰਫਿਰੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਵਲ ਫਿਰ ਕੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
ਛਿਤਊਪਰਸ੍ਰੀਰਘੁਰਾਜਗਿਰੇ॥੩੫੬॥
(ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ (ਬੇਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ ॥੩੫੬॥
He saw once again on all the four sides, but ultimately he fell down on the earth in disappontment.356.
ਲਘੁਬੀਰਉਠਾਇਸੁਅੰਕਭਰੇ॥
ਛੋਟੇ ਭਾਈ (ਲੱਛਮਣ) ਨੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜੱਫੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਠਾਇਆ
ਮੁਖਪੋਛਤਬੈਬਚਨਾਉਚਰੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਪੂੰਝ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਬੋਲ ਕਹੇ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
His younger brother clasped him and raised him and said while cleansing his face :
ਕਸਅਧੀਰਪਰੇਪ੍ਰਭਧੀਰਧਰੋ॥
ਕਿਉਂ ਅਧੀਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਧੀਰਜ ਧਰੇ,
ਸੀਅਜਾਇਕਹਾਤਿਹਸੋਧਕਰੋ॥੩੫੭॥
ਸੀਤਾ ਕਿਥੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰੋ ॥੩੫੭॥
“O my Lord! Do not be impatient, keep your composure. Ruminate on the fact where Sita has gone.?”357.
ਉਠਠਾਢਿਭਏਫਿਰਿਭੂਮਗਿਰੇ॥
(ਰਾਮ ਜੀ) ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਖੜੋ ਗਏ ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ (ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਏ)।
ਪਹਰੇਕਕਲਉਫਿਰਪ੍ਰਾਨਫਿਰੇ॥
ਇਕ ਪਹਿਰ ਮਗਰੋਂ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ) ਫਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਰਤ ਆਏ।
Ram got up but again swooned and came to consciousness again after some time.
ਤਨਚੇਤਸੁਚੇਤਉਠੇਹਰਿਯੌਂ॥
ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਆ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਮ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋ ਉੱਠੇ
ਰਣਮੰਡਲਮਧਿਗਿਰਯੋਭਟਜਯੋਂ॥੩੫੮॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਮੂਰਛਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਫਿਰ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖੜਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੫੮॥
He got up from the earth like a warrior slowly regaining consciousness in the battlefield.358.
ਛਹੂੰਓਰਪੁਕਾਰਬਕਾਰਥਕੇ॥
ਚੌਹੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਕਾਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ।
ਲਘੁਭ੍ਰਾਤਬਹੁਭਾਤਿਝਥੇ॥
ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਛੋਟਾ ਭਾਈ (ਲੱਛਮਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਛਿੱਥਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ।
He grew tired on shouting on all the four sides and experienced great anguish alongwith his younger brother.
ਉਠਕੈਪੁਨਪ੍ਰਾਤਇਸਨਾਨਗਏ॥
(ਰਾਤ ਬੀਤਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਜਦੋਂ) ਫਿਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਰਾਮ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਗਏ,
ਜਲਜੰਤਸਭੈਜਰਿਛਾਰਿਭਏ॥੩੫੯॥
(ਤਦੋਂ ਸੀਤਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਯੋਗ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜਲ ਜੀਵ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੩੫੯॥
He went to take bath early in the morning and with the impact of the heat of his agony, all the creatures in the water were burnt down and reduced to ashes.359.
ਬਿਰਹੀਜਿਹਓਰਸੁਦਿਸਟਧਰੈ॥
ਵਿਯੋਗੀ (ਰਾਮ) ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਸਨ,
ਫਲਫੂਲਪਲਾਸਅਕਾਸਜਰੈ॥
ਉਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੇ ਫਲ, ਫੁੱਲ, ਪਲਾਸ ਤੇ ਕਾਹੀ (ਆਕਾਸ਼) ਵੀ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
The direction to which Ram saw in his state separation from his beloved, all the flowers and fruit as well us the trees of Palas and the sky burnt with the heat of his vision.
ਕਰਸੌਧਰਜਉਨਛੁਅੰਤਭਈ॥
ਜਿਹੜੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਛੋਹ ਗਈ,
ਕਚਬਾਸਨਜਯੋਂਪਕਫੂਟਗਈ॥੩੬੦॥
ਉਹ ਕੱਚੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਪੱਕ ਕੇ ਫੁੱਟ ਗਈ ॥੩੬੦॥
Whenever he touched the earth with his hands, the earth cracked like a brittle vessel with his touch.360.
ਜਿਹਭੂਮਥਲੀਪਰਰਾਮਫਿਰੇ॥
ਜਿਸ ਭੂਮੀ-ਸਥਲ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਸਨ,
ਦਵਜਯੋਂਜਲਪਾਤਪਲਾਸਗਿਰੇ॥
ਉਥੇ ਪਲਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਤੇ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਇਉਂ ਡਿੱਗਦੇ ਸਨ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਸੜ ਕੇ (ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹਨ)।
The ground on which Ram rested, the Palas trees (on that ground) were burnt down and reduced to ashes like the grass.
ਟੁਟਆਸੂਆਰਣਨੈਨਝਰੀ॥
(ਰਾਮ ਦੀਆਂ) ਲਾਲ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹੰਝੂ ਟੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਝੜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ
ਮਨੋਤਾਤਤਵਾਪਰਬੂੰਦਪਰੀ॥੩੬੧॥
(ਜੋ ਸੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਉਂ ਲੋਪ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਮਾਨੋ ਤੱਤੇ ਤਵੇ ਉੱਤੇ (ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ) ਬੂੰਦ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੩੬੧॥
The continuous flow of his tears evaporated on falling down on the earth like the drops of water falling on the got plate.361.
ਤਨਰਾਘਵਭੇਟਸਮੀਰਜਰੀ॥
ਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਛੋਹ ਕੇ ਪੌਣ ਸੜ ਗਈ
ਤਜਧੀਰਸਰੋਵਰਸਾਝਦੁਰੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁੱਕ ਗਈ।
Even the cold mind burnt when it touched his body and controlling its coolness and forsaking its patience, it merged into the pool of water
ਨਹਿਤਤ੍ਰਥਲੀਸਤਪਤ੍ਰਰਹੇ॥
(ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿੱਚ) ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਮਲ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ,
ਜਲਜੰਤਪਰਤ੍ਰਿਨਪਤ੍ਰਦਹੇ॥੩੬੨॥
ਜਲ-ਜੀਵ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖੰਭ ਵੀ ਸੜ ਗਏ ॥੩੬੨॥
Even there the leaves of lotus could not survive and the creatures of water, grass, leaves etc. all were reduced to ashes with the geat of the state of separation of Ram.362.
ਇਤਢੂੰਢਬਨੇਰਘੁਨਾਥਫਿਰੇ॥
ਇਧਰ ਬਣ ਵਿੱਚ (ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ) ਢੂੰਡ ਕੇ ਰਾਮ (ਕੁਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁੜ ਆਏ।
ਉਤਰਾਵਨਆਨਜਟਾਯੁਘਿਰੇ॥
ਉਧਰ (ਗਿਰਝਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ) ਜਟਾਯੂ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਰਾਵਣ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ।
On this side Ram was roaming in the forest in search of Sita, on the other side Ravana was surrounded by Jatayu.
ਰਣਛੋਰਹਠੀਪਗਦੁਐਨਭਜਯੋ॥
ਹਠੀ (ਜਟਾਯੂ) ਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਦੋ ਪੈਰ ਵੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਾ ਭੱਜਿਆ।
ਉਡਪਛਗਏਪੈਨਪਛਤਜਯੋ॥੩੬੩॥
(ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਖੰਭ (ਰਾਵਣ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ) ਉੱਡ ਗਏ ਪਰ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ॥੩੬੩॥
The persistent Jatayu did not yield in its fierce fighting even though its wings were chopped.363.
ਗੀਤਾਮਾਲਤੀਛੰਦ॥
ਗੀਤਾ (ਗੀਆ) ਮਾਲਤੀ ਛੰਦ
GEETA MALTI STANZA
ਪਛਰਾਜਰਾਵਨਮਾਰਿਕੈਰਘੁਰਾਜਸੀਤਹਿਲੈਗਯੋ॥
ਜਟਾਯੂ ਨੇ (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ-) ਹੇ ਰਘੂਰਾਜ! ਰਾਵਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Ravana took away Sita after killing Jatayu,
ਨਭਿਓਰਖੋਰਨਿਹਾਰਕੈਸੁਜਟਾਉਸੀਅਸੰਦੇਸਦਯੋ॥
(ਫਿਰ) ਜਟਾਯੂ ਨੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੀਤਾ (ਦੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਰਾਮ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
This message was communicated by Jatayu, when Ram saw towards the sky.
ਤਬਜਾਨਰਾਮਗਏਬਲੀਸੀਅਸਤਰਾਵਨਹੀਹਰੀ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਰਾਮ ਜਾਣ ਗਏ ਜੋ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਹੀ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਵਣ ਨੇ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
On meeting Jatayu Ram came to know for certain that Ravana had abducted Sita.
