ਸਿੰਘ-ਨਾਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੱਠੀ ਯੋਧੇ ਰਣਭੂਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਰਨ ਲਗ ਗਏ।
The musical notes of fifes were played and the persistent warriors began to roar like lions and roam in the fields.
ਲਗਿਬਾਨਸਨਾਹਦੁਸਾਰਕਢੇ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਤੀਰ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਕਵਚ ਨੂੰ ਭੰਨ ਕੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੱਲ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ,
ਸੂਅਤਛਕਕੇਜਨੁਰੂਪਮਢੇ॥੩੪੩॥
ਮਾਨੋ (ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨੇ) ਤੱਛਕ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੩੪੩॥
The shafts were being taken out from quivers and the serpent-like arrows were struck like the messengers of death.343.
ਬਿਨੁਸੰਕਸਨਾਹਰਿਝਾਰਤਹੈ॥
ਬੜੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਣਬੀਰਨਵੀਰਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਤਹੈ॥
ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਲਲਕਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The warriors are spraying arrows fearlessly and are challenging one another.
ਸਰਸੁਧਸਿਲਾਸਿਤਛੋਰਤਹੈ॥
(ਯੋਧੇ) ਪੱਥਰ 'ਤੇ ਘਿਸਾ ਕੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਤੀਰ ਛੱਡਦੇ ਹਨ
ਜੀਅਰੋਸਹਲਾਹਲਘੋਰਤਹੈ॥੩੪੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਘੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੪੪॥
They are discharging shafts and stones and are drinking in the gearts the poison of indignation.344.
ਰਨਧੀਰਅਯੋਧਨੁਲੁਝਤਹੈਂ॥
ਰਣਧੀਰ ਯੋਧੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਦਪੀਸਭਲੋਕਰਜੁਝਤਹੈਂ॥
ਦੰਦ ਪੀਂਹਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੂਝਦੇ ਹਨ।
The conquering warriors have fought with one another in the battle and are fighting furiously.
ਰਣਦੇਵਅਦੇਵਨਿਹਾਰਤਹੈਂ॥
ਦੇਵਤੇ ਤੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਯੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਯਸਦਨਿਨਦਿਪੁਕਾਰਤਹੈਂ॥੩੪੫॥
ਜੈ-ਜੈ ਸਦ ਇਕ ਸਾਰ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੪੫॥
Both the gods and demons are viewing the battle and are raising the sound of victory.345.
ਗਣਗਿਧਣਬ੍ਰਿਧਰੜੰਤਨਭੰ॥
ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਗਿਰਝਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੁੰਡ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਲਕੰਤਸੁਡਾਕਣਉਚਸੁਰੰ॥
ਡਾਕਣੀਆਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਲਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਾਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The Ganas and large vultures are roaming in the sky and the vampires are shrieking violently.
ਭ੍ਰਮਛਾਡਭਕਾਰਤਭੂਤਭੂਅੰ॥
ਭਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਭੂਤ ਵੀ ਭਕਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਣਰੰਗਬਿਹਾਰਤਭ੍ਰਾਤਦੂਅੰ॥੩੪੬॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਭਾਈ (ਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਲੱਛਮਣ) ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜ ਨਾਲ ਫਿਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੪੬॥
The ghosts are laughing fearlessly and both the brother Ram and Lakshman are looking at this continued fight.346.
ਖਰਦੂਖਣਮਾਰਬਿਹਾਇਦਏ॥
(ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਨੇ) ਖਰ ਤੇ ਦੂਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਮੌਤ ਰੂਪ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ) ਰੋਹੜ ਦਿਤਾ।
ਜਯਸਦਨਿਨਦਬਿਹਦਭਏ॥
ਜੈ ਦੇ ਬੇਹਦ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਇਕਸਾਰ ਹੋਏ।
Ram caused both Khar and Dushan flow down in the stream of death after killing them. The victory was greatly hailed from all the four sides.
ਸੁਰਫੂਲਨਕੀਬਰਖਾਬਰਖੇ॥
ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਸਾਇਆ।
ਰਣਧੀਰਅਧੀਰਦੋਊਪਰਖੇ॥੩੪੭॥
ਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੀਰਜ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਰਖੇ ਗਏ ॥੩੪੭॥
The gods showered the flowers and enjoyed the sight of both the victorious warriors Ram and Lakshman.347.

ਰਾਵਣਨੀਚਮਰੀਚਹੂੰਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਬੀਚਗਏਬਧਬੀਰਸੁਨੈਹੈ॥
ਨੀਚ ਰਾਵਣ ਮਾਰੀਚ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਭਰਾਵਾਂ (ਖਰ-ਦੂਖਣ) ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
Hearing about the killing of Khar and Dushan the vile Ravan went to the house of Marich.
ਬੀਸਹੂੰਬਾਹਿਹਥਿਆਰਗਹੇਰਿਸਮਾਰਮਨੈਦਸਸੀਸਧੁਨੈਹੈ॥
ਵੀਹਾਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਵਣ ਨੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਫੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਦਸ ਸਿਰ ਧੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ-)
He held his weapons in all his twenty hands and was furiously muzzling his ten heads.
ਨਾਕਕਟਯੋਜਿਨਸੂਪਨਖਾਕਹਤਉਤਿਹਕੋਦੁਖਦੋਖਲਗੈਹੈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੂਰਪਣਖਾ ਦਾ ਨੱਕ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਕਲੰਕ ਲਗਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
He said, “Those who have chopped the nose of Surapankha, their such action has agonised me
ਰਾਵਲਕੋਬਨੁਕੈਪਲਮੋਛਲਕੈਤਿਹਕੀਘਰਨੀਧਰਿਲਯੈਹੈ॥੩੪੮॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਜੋਗੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ, ਪਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਛਲ ਕੇ ਧਰ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ ॥੩੪੮॥
“I shall steal their wife in the garb of a Yogi form the forest in your company.”348.

ਨਾਥਅਨਾਥਸਨਾਥਕੀਯੋਕਰਿਕੈਅਤਿਮੋਰਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਕਹਆਏ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਥ! (ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ (ਘਰ) ਆਏ ਹੋ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਂ) ਅਨਾਥ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਾਥ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
“O my Lord! You had been very kind to came to my place.
ਭਉਨਭੰਡਾਰਅਟੀਬਿਕਟੀਪ੍ਰਭਆਜਸਭੈਘਰਬਾਰਸੁਹਾਏ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰਾ) ਘਰ ਬਾਰ, ਭਵਨ, ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਖੜੀ ਉਜਾੜ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਹਾਵਨਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
“My stores are overflowing on your arrival, O my Lord!
ਦ੍ਵੈਕਰਿਜੋਰਕਰਉਬਿਨਤੀਸੁਨਿਕੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਨਾਥਬੁਰੋਮਤਮਾਨੋ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ! ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਾ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ।
“But with folded hands I request and kindly do not mind,
ਸ੍ਰੀਰਘੁਬੀਰਸਹੀਅਵਤਾਰਤਿਨੈਤੁਮਮਾਨਸਕੈਨਪਛਾਨੋ॥੨੪੯॥
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੋ ॥੩੪੯॥
“That is my supplication that Ram is in reality an incarnation, do not consider him as a man like yourself.”349.
ਰੋਸਭਰਯੋਸਭਅੰਗਜਰਯੋਮੁਖਰਤਕਰਯੋਜੁਗਨੈਨਤਚਾਏ॥
(ਮਾਰੀਚ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਰਾਵਣ) ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਗ ਸੜਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਮੂੰਹ ਲਾਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘੂਰਣ ਲੱਗਾ। (ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ-)
Hearing these words, Ravan was filled with anger and his limbs began to burn, his face turned red and his eyes expanded with anger.
ਤੈਨਲਗੈਹਮਰੇਸਠਬੋਲਨਮਾਨਸਦੁਐਅਵਤਾਰਗਨਾਏ॥
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਮੇਰੇ ਬੋਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਗਿਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
He said, “O fool! what are you speaking before me and considering those two men as incarnations
ਮਾਤਕੀਏਕਹੀਬਾਤਕਹੇਤਜਿਤਾਤਘ੍ਰਿਣਾਬਨਬਾਸਨਿਕਾਰੇ॥
ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ, (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਿਉ ਨੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਘਿਰਣਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਨਵਾਸ (ਲਈ ਘਰੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
“Their mother spoke only once and their father indignantly sent them to the forest
ਤੇਦੋਊਦੀਨਅਧੀਨਜੁਗੀਯਾਕਸਕੈਭਿਰਹੈਂਸੰਗਆਨਹਮਾਰੇ॥੩੫੦॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਦੇਵੋਂ ਦੀਨ ਅਧੀਨ ਜੋਗੀ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਆ ਕੇ ਲੜ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੫੦॥
“Both of them are lowly and helpless, how will they be able to fight against me.350.
ਜਉਨਹੀਜਾਤਤਹਾਕਹਤੈਸਠਿਤੋਰਜਟਾਨਕੋਜੂਟਪਟੈਹੌ॥
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਜੋ ਉਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, (ਤਾਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਹੀ) ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਜੱਟਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੂੜਾ ਪੁੱਟਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
“O fool! if I had not come to ask you for going there, I would have uprooted and thrown your matted hair,
ਕੰਚਨਕੋਟਕੇਊਪਰਤੇਡਰਤੋਹਿਨਦੀਸਰਬੀਚਡੁਬੈਹੌ॥
ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਲੇ ਉਪਰੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਬੋਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
“And from the top of this golden citadel I would have thrown you in the sea and get you drowned.”
ਚਿਤਚਿਰਾਤਬਸਾਤਕਛੂਨਰਿਸਾਤਚਲਯੋਮੁਨਘਾਤਪਛਾਨੀ॥
(ਇਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਮਾਰੀਚ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਖਿਝਿਆ ਪਰ ਵਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ, ਵਕਤ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਾਕਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੁਨੀ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ (ਭਰਿਆ) ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ।
Hearing these world and pining in his mind and in anger, realizing the gravity of the occasion, Marich left that place
ਰਾਵਨਨੀਚਕੀਮੀਚਅਧੋਗਤਰਾਘਵਪਾਨਪੁਰੀਸੁਰਿਮਾਨੀ॥੩੫੧॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ) ਕਿ ਰਾਵਣ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਮੌਤ ਨੀਚ ਗਤਿ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਹੱਥੋਂ (ਮਿਲੀ ਮੌਤ) ਸੁਅਰਗ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਣ ਵਧਾਏਗੀ ॥੩੫੧॥
He felt that the death and decadence of the vile Ravan is certain at the hands of Ram.351.
ਕੰਚਨਕੋਹਰਨਾਬਨਕੇਰਘੁਬੀਰਬਲੀਜਹਥੋਤਹਆਯੋ॥
(ਫਲਸਰੂਪ ਮਾਰੀਚ) ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਨ ਬਣ ਕੇ, ਜਿਥੇ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਰਾਮ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਨ, ਉਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਆਇਆ।
He transformed himself into a golden deer and reached at the abode of Ram.
ਰਾਵਨਹ੍ਵੈਉਤਕੇਜੁਗੀਆਸੀਅਲੈਨਚਲਯੋਜਨੁਮੀਚਚਲਾਯੋ॥
ਉਧਰੋਂ ਰਾਵਣ ਜੋਗੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਣ ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ, ਮਾਨੋ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰ ਕੇ ਤੋਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
On the other side Ravana put on the garb of a Yogi and went to abduct Sita, it seemed that death was driving him there.
ਸੀਅਬਿਲੋਕਕੁਰੰਕਪ੍ਰਭਾਕਹਮੋਹਿਰਹੀਪ੍ਰਭਤੀਰਉਚਾਰੀ॥
(ਉਸ) ਹਿਰਨ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੀਤਾ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਪਤੀ ਕੋਲ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ-
Seeing the beauty of the golden deer, Sita came near Ram and said :
ਆਨਦਿਜੈਹਮਕਉਮ੍ਰਿਗਵਾਸੁਨਸ੍ਰੀਅਵਧੇਸਮੁਕੰਦਮੁਰਾਰੀ॥੩੫੨॥
ਹੇ ਮੁਰ (ਦੈਂਤ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾਤੇ! ਹੇ ਅਯੁਧਿਆ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਮੀ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ) ਸੁਣੋ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਹਿਰਨ ਲਿਆ ਦਿਓ ॥੩੫੨॥
“O the king of Oudh and the destroyer of demons! Go and bring that deer for me.”352.
ਰਾਮਬਾਚ॥
ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ-
Speech of Ram :
ਸੀਅਮ੍ਰਿਗਾਕਹੂੰਕੰਚਨਕੋਨਹਿਕਾਨਸੁਨਯੋਬਿਧਿਨੈਨਬਨਾਯੋ॥
ਹੇ ਸੀਤਾ! ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਨ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਕੰਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਧਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
“O Sita! no one had heard about the golden deer and even the Lord hath not created it
ਬੀਸਬਿਸਵੇਛਲਦਾਨਵਕੋਬਨਮੈਜਿਹਆਨਤੁਮੈਡਹਕਾਯੋ॥
ਵੀਹ ਬਿਸਵੇ ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਦਾ ਛਲਾਵਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
“This is certainly the deceit of some demon, who has caused this deception in you.”
ਪਿਆਰੀਕੋਆਇਸਮੇਟਸਕੈਨਬਿਲੋਕਸੀਆਕਹੁਆਤੁਰਭਾਰੀ॥
ਪਰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸੀਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਤੁਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ, ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਨਾ ਸਕੇ।
Seeing the affliction of Sita, Ram could not put aside her wish
