ਪੁਨਰਜੁਧਸਜਿਯੋਹਠੇਤੇਜਹੀਣੰ॥
ਫਿਰ ਤੇਜਹੀਨ (ਜਲੰਧਰ ਨੇ) ਹਠ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਭਜੇਛਾਡਕੈਸੰਗਸਾਥੀਅਧੀਣੰ॥੨੩॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਵੀ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸਾਥ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਭਜ ਗਏ ॥੨੩॥
But still weak king continued the fight and all his companions and subordinates ran away from the battlefield.23.

ਦੁਹੂੰਜੁਧੁਕੀਨਾਰਣਮਾਹੀ॥
ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਣ-ਭੁਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਤੀਸਰਅਵਰੁਤਹਾਕੋਨਾਹੀ॥
ਉਥੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
Both Shiva and Jalandhar fought and there was none other in the battlefield.
ਕੇਤਕਮਾਸਮਚਿਯੋਤਹਜੁਧਾ॥
ਕਈ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਉਥੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ,
ਜਾਲੰਧਰਹੁਐਸਿਵਪੁਰਕ੍ਰੁਧਾ॥੨੪॥
(ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਦੋਂ) ਜਲੰਧਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਉਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੨੪॥
The war continued of several month and Jalndhar was filled with great fury for (the action of ) Shiva.24.
ਤਬਸਿਵਧਿਆਨਸਕਤਿਕੌਧਰਾ॥
ਉਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਨੇ (ਦੁਰਗਾ) ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਤਾਤੇਸਕਤਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਕਰਕਰਾ॥
ਉਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ
Then Shiva meditated upon the Shakti (power) and the Power (Shakti) was Gracious towards him.
ਤਾਤੇਭਯੋਰੁਦ੍ਰਬਲਵਾਨਾ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਮੰਡਿਯੋਜੁਧੁਬਹੁਰਿਬਿਧਿਨਾਨਾ॥੨੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਮਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੫॥
Now, Rudra getting mightier than before began to wage wr.25.
ਉਤਹਰਿਲਯੋਨਾਰਿਰਿਪਸਤਹਰਿ॥
ਉਧਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੀ ਇਸਤੀ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦਾ ਦਾ ਸੱਤ ਹਰ ਲਿਆ
ਇਤਸਿਵਭਯੋਤੇਜਦੇਬੀਕਰਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਧਰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਵੀ ਦੇਵੀ (ਦੇ ਵਰ) ਨਾਲ ਤੇਜ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
On that side, Vishnu had defiled the chastity of woman, and on this side, Shiva also, having received the effulgence form the goddess, became more powerful.
ਛਿਨਮੋਕੀਯੋਅਸੁਰਕੋਨਾਸਾ॥
ਛਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਨਿਰਖਿਰੀਝਭਟਰਹੇਤਮਾਸਾ॥੨੬॥
ਯੋਧੇ ਇਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੨੬॥
Therefore he destroyed the demon Jalandhar in and instant seeing this scene, all were pleased.26.
ਜਲੰਧਰੀਤਾਦਿਨਤੇਨਾਮਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ (ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਂ 'ਜਲੰਧਰੀ' ਪੈ ਗਿਆ।
ਜਪਹੁਚੰਡਿਕਾਕੋਸਬਜਾਮਾ॥
ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ (ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲੇ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਜਪੋ।
Those who repeat the Name of Chandika, they know that from that day, Chnadika came to be known as Jalandhari.
ਤਾਤੇਹੋਤਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਸਰੀਰਾ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਵਿਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗਾ,
ਜਿਮਨ੍ਰਹਾਏਜਲਗੰਗਗਹੀਰਾ॥੨੭॥
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੰਗਾ ਜਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਨ੍ਹਾਤਿਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
By repeating her name, the body becomes pure like taking bath in the Ganges.27.
ਤਾਤੇਕਹੀਨਰੁਦ੍ਰਕਹਾਨੀ॥
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹੀ,
ਗ੍ਰੰਥਬਢਨਕੀਚਿੰਤਪਛਾਨੀ॥
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਵੱਧਣ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਲਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
Keeping in mind the fear of making the book voluminous, I have not narrated the complete story of Rudra.
ਤਾਤੇਕਥਾਥੋਰਿਹੀਭਾਸੀ॥
ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਥੋੜੀ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਖਿਭੂਲਿਕਬਿਕਰੋਨਹਾਸੀ॥੨੮॥
ਹੇ ਕਵੀ ਜਨੋ! ਕਿਧਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁਲ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹਾਸੀ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੨੮॥
This story has only been narrated in brief on knowing this, kindly do not jeer at me.28.

ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ 'ਬਿਸਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ' ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜੈਸਿਕਧਰਿਯੋਸਰੂਪਮੁਰਾਰਾ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
Now I enumerate the incarnations of Vishnu as to what type of incarnations he adopted.
ਬਿਆਕੁਲਹੋਤਧਰਨਿਜਬਭਾਰਾ॥
ਧਰਤੀ ਜਦੋਂ (ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ) ਭਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਕੁਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਕਾਲਪੁਰਖੁਪਹਿਕਰਤਪੁਕਾਰਾ॥੧॥
(ਉਦੋਂ) ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੋਲ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
When the earth is distempered with the load of sins, then she manifested her anguish before the Destroyer Lord.1.
ਅਸੁਰਦੇਵਤਨਦੇਤਿਭਜਾਈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਦੈਂਤ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਛੀਨਲੇਤਭੂਅਕੀਠਕੁਰਾਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਖੋਹ ਲੈਂਦੇ,
When the demons cause the gods to run away and seize their kingdom from them,
ਕਰਤਪੁਕਾਰਧਰਣਿਭਰਿਭਾਰਾ॥
ਉਦੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਕਾਲਪੁਰਖਤਬਹੋਤਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਰਾ॥੨॥
ਅਤੇ 'ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ' ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
Then the earth, pressed under the load of sins, calls for help, and then the destroyer Lord becomes kind.2.
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਸਬਦੇਵਨਕੋਅੰਸਲੈਤਤੁਆਪਨਠਹਰਾਇ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਸ਼ ਲੈ ਕੇ, (ਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣਾ ਤੱਤ੍ਵ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਬਿਸਨੁਰੂਪਧਾਰਤਤਦਿਨਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਅਦਿਤਕੈਆਇ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਅਦਿਤੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਉਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Then taking the elements of all the gods and principally merging himself in it, Vishnu manifest himself in different forms and takes birth in the clan of Aditi.3.

ਆਨਹਰਤਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀਕੋਭਾਰਾ॥
(ਉਹ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੇ
ਬਹੁਬਿਧਿਅਸੁਰਨਕਰਤਸੰਘਾਰਾ॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In this way, incarnating himself, he removes the load of the earth and destroys the demons in various ways.
ਭੂਮਿਭਾਰਹਰਿਸੁਰਪੁਰਿਜਾਈ॥
ਭੂਮੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਫਿਰ) ਸੁਰਪੁਰੀ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਕਾਲਪੁਰਖਮੋਰਹਤਸਮਾਈ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ 'ਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ' ਵਿਚ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
After removing the lord of the earth, he goes again to the abode of gods and merges himself in the Destroyer Lord.4.
ਸਕਲਕਥਾਜਉਛੋਰਿਸੁਨਾਊ॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਜੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਾਵਾਂ,
ਬਿਸਨਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਹਤਸ੍ਰਮਪਾਊ॥
ਤਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ (ਗ੍ਰੰਥ) ਕਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
If I relate all these stories in detail, then it may delusively be called Vishnu-system.
ਤਾਤੇਥੋਰੀਐਕਥਾਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਥੋੜੀ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਰੋਗਸੋਗਤੇਰਾਖੁਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ॥੫॥
ਹੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ! (ਮੇਰੀ) ਰੋਗਾਂ ਸੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰੋ ॥੫॥
Therefore, I narrate it in brief and O Lord! protect me form ailment and suffering.5.
ਇਤਿਸ੍ਰੀਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਨਾਟਕਗ੍ਰੰਥੇਤੇਰ੍ਰਹਵਾਬਿਸਨੁਅਵਤਾਰਸਮਾਪਤਮਸਤੁਸੁਭਮਸਤ॥੧੩॥
