ਭਏਸੈਣਪਾਲੰਬਲੀਸੂਲਸਲ੍ਯੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਕੌਰਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਚੌਥਾ) ਸੈਨਾ ਨਾਇਕ (ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੂਲ ਵਾਂਗ ਚੁਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਲ੍ਯ ਹੋਇਆ।
Then the brave warrior Salaya became the general of Kauravas.
ਭਲੀਭਾਂਤਿਕੁਟਿਓਬਲੀਪੰਚਦਲ੍ਯੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਪਾਂਡਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਲਿਆ।
He beat the brave Pandava foces fiercely,
ਪੁਨਰਹਸਤਯੁਧਿਸਟਰੰਸਕਤਬੇਧੰ॥
ਫਿਰ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਨੇ ਬਰਛੀ (ਸ਼ਕਤੀ) ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹੱਥ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And wounded the elephant of Yudhistra with his dagger.
ਗਿਰਿਯੋਜੁਧਭੂਪੰਬਲੀਭੂਪਬੇਧੰ॥੪੭॥੨੧੫॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਸ਼ਲ੍ਯ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਸੁਟਿਆ ॥੪੭॥੨੧੫॥
Because of this Yudhistra fell down, but he killed the brave Salaya.47.215.

ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ਼ਲ੍ਯ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਕਉਰਉਹਾਰਤਵਨਤੇਸੂਝਾ॥
ਉਸ (ਦਿਨ) ਤੋਂ ਕੌਰਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਾਰ ਸੁਝ ਗਈ।
The day on which the king Salya died in fighting, the Kauravas felt their impending defeat.
ਜੂਝਤਸਲਭਇਓਅਸਤਾਮਾ॥
ਸ਼ਲ੍ਯ ਦੇ ਜੂਝਣ (ਉਪਰੰਤ) ਅਸ੍ਵਸਥਾਮਾ (ਪੰਜਵਾਂ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ) ਹੋਇਆ।
ਕੂਟਿਓਕੋਟਕਟਕੁਇਕਜਾਮਾ॥੧॥੨੧੬॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਇਕ ਪਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥੨੧੬॥
When Salya died, Ashvathama become the general, he beat violently millions of forces for one watch.1.216.
ਧ੍ਰਿਸਟਦੋਨੁਮਾਰਿਓਅਤਿਰਥੀ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਮਹਾ ਬਲੀ (ਅਤਿ ਰਥੀ) ਧ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਦ੍ਯੁਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਪਾਡਵਸੈਨਭਲੇਕਰਿਮਥੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਪਾਂਡਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਧਿਆ।
He killed the expert charioteer Dharishtadyumna, and mashed the Pandava forces nicely.
ਪਾਡਵਕੇਪਾਚੋਸੁਤਮਾਰੇ॥
ਪਾਂਡਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ
ਦੁਆਪੁਰਮੈਬਡਕੀਨਅਖਾਰੇ॥੨॥੨੧੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੁਆਪਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਯੁੱਧ (ਅਖਾਰਾ) ਕੀਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੧੭॥
He also killed thefive sons of Pandavas, he fought very great waars in Dvapar age.2.217.
ਕਉਰਉਰਾਜਕੀਓਤਬਜੁਧਾ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ (ਕਉਰਉ ਰਾਜ) ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ
ਭੀਮਸੰਗਿਹੁਇਕੈਅਤਿਕ੍ਰੁਧਾ॥
ਭੀਮ ਸੈਨ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ।
Then Duryodhana, the king of Kauravas waged the war, against Bhim in great fury.
ਜੁਧਕਰਤਕਬਹੂਨਹੀਹਾਰਾ॥
ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ) ਕਦੇ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ,
ਕਾਲਬਲੀਤਿਹਆਨਸੰਘਾਰਾ॥੩॥੨੧੮॥
ਪਰ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਕਾਲ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥੨੧੮॥
He was never defeated while fighting, but the mighty death came and killed him.3.218.
ਭੁਜੰਗਪ੍ਰਯਾਤਛੰਦ॥

ਤਹਾਭੀਮਕੁਰਰਾਜਸਿਉਜੁਧਮਚਿਓ॥
ਉਥੇ ਭੀਮ ਸੈਨ ਦਾ ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ ਨਾਲ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ) ਯੁੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ
There the fierce war of Duryodhana began with Bhim,
ਛੁਟੀਬ੍ਰਹਮਤਾਰੀਮਹਾਰੁਦ੍ਰਨਚਿਓ॥
(ਕਿ) ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਸਮਾਧੀ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ (ਉਹ) ਨਚਣ ਲਗਿਆ।
Because of which the meditation of Shiva was shattered and that great gods began to dance.
ਉਠੈਸਬਦਨਿਰਘਾਤਆਘਾਤਬੀਰੰ॥
(ਉਥੇ) ਵੀਰ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਦੇ (ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਘਾਤ-ਪ੍ਰਤਿਘਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਖੜਾਕ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Because of the blows of warriors terrible sound arose
ਭਏਰੁੰਡਮੁੰਡੰਤਣੰਤਛਤੀਰੰ॥੧॥੨੧੯॥
ਸਿਰ ਧੜਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ॥੧॥੨੧੯॥
The bodies were pierced by arrows and the heads were separated from pierced by arrows and the heads were separated from the trunks.1.219.
ਗਿਰੇਬੀਰਏਕੰਅਨੇਕੰਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ॥
ਅਨੇਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਲੜਦੇ ਹੋਏ) ਕਈ ਇਕ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ।
Fighting in various ways, many warriors fell in the field
ਗਿਰੇਅਧਅਧੰਛੁਧੰਸਸਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੰ॥
ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਦੇ ਛੋਹਣ ਨਾਲ (ਉਹ) ਅਧੋ-ਅਧ ਕਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ।
Many had fallen in halves who had been hungry of the sharp edges of weapons.
ਕਟੇਕਉਰਵੰਦੁਰਸਿੰਦੂਰਖੇਤੰ॥
ਕੌਰਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਸਤ ਹਾਥੀ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਏ ਸਨ।
The intoxicated elephants of Kauravas had been chopped in the field.
ਨਚੇਗਿਧਆਵਧਸਾਵੰਤਖੇਤੰ॥੨॥੨੨੦॥
ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ (ਆਵਧ) ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ (ਸਾਵੰਤ) ਨੂੰ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ (ਡਿਗਿਆ ਵੇਖਕੇ) ਗਿਰਝਾਂ (ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਨਚ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ॥੨॥੨੨੦॥
Seeing the brave warriors wields weapons in the field, the vultures were feeling pleased.2.220.
ਬਲੀਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰਜੂਝੈਬਿਰਾਜੈ॥
ਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਮਗਨ ਸਨ।
The warriors were fighting in the battlefield in enclosures.
ਹਸੈਗਰਜਠੋਕੈਭੁਜਾਹਰਦੁਗਾਜੈ॥
(ਉਹ) ਹਸਦੇ ਸਨ, ਗਜਦੇ ਸਨ, ਭੁਜਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੋਕਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਲਕਾਰਦੇ ਸਨ,
They laughed, roared and patted their arms, they challenged from both sides.
ਦਿਖਾਵੇਬਲੀਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰਥਾਨੈ॥
ਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਡਟ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਲ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
They were standing and showing feats of bravery in enclosures.
ਉਭਾਰੈਭੁਜਾਅਉਫਟਾਕੈਗਜਾਨੈ॥੩॥੨੨੧॥
ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਭਾਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ (ਗੁਰਜਾਂ ਦੇ) ਫਟਾਂਕੇ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੩॥੨੨੧॥
They swayed their arms and were producing terrible sounds with the blows of their maces.3.221.
ਸੁਭੇਸਵਰਨਕੇਪਤ੍ਰਬਾਧੇਗਜਾਮੈ॥
ਗੁਰਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਪੱਤਰੇ ਸੋਭਦੇ ਸਨ।
The sheets of gold covering the maces looked splendid.
ਭਈਅਗਨਿਸੋਭਾਲਖੀਕੈਧੁਜਾਮੈ॥
(ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਧੁਜਾਵਾਂ (ਉਪਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਦੀਆਂ) ਅਗਨੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਟਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
Their glory exhibited the blaze of fire at their tops.
ਭਿੜਾਮੈਭ੍ਰਮੈਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰਬਾਹੈ॥
(ਯੋਧੇ) ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਭ੍ਰਮਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਡਲਾਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ) ਵਾਹ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
The warriors moved in the field and rotated their discs.
ਅਪੋਆਪਸੈਨੇਕਿਘਾਇੰਸਰਾਹੈ॥੪॥੨੨੨॥
(ਦੋਵੇਂ) ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੇ ਫਟ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੪॥੨੨੨॥
They appreciated those on their sides who inflicted deep wounds.4.222.
ਤਹਾਭੀਮਭਾਰੀਭੁਜਾਸਸਤ੍ਰਬਾਹੈ॥
ਉਥੇ ਭੀਮ ਸੈਨ ਭਾਰੀ ਭੁਜਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ
There the great warrior Bhim used his weapons with his arms.
ਭਲੀਭਾਂਤਿਕੈਕੈਭਲੇਸੈਨਗਾਹੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਤਾੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
He was trampling the armies nicely.
ਉਤੈਕਉਰਪਾਲੰਧਰੈਛਤ੍ਰਧਰਮੰ॥
ਉਧਰ ਕੌਰਵ ਸੈਨਾ-ਨਾਇਕ (ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ) ਛਤਰੀ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ (ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਾਲਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ
On the other side Yudhishtar was bound by Kshatriya discipline,
ਕਰੈਚਿਤਪਾਵਿਤ੍ਰਬਾਚਿਤ੍ਰਕਰਮੰ॥੫॥੨੨੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਮ (ਯੁੱਧ ਕੌਤਕ) ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ॥੫॥੨੨੩॥
And was performing wonderful and holy Karmas.5.223.
ਸਭੈਬਾਜੁਵੰਦੰਛਕੈਭੂਪਨਾਣੰ॥
(ਦੋਹਾਂ ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਬਾਜੂਬੰਦ, ਭੂਸ਼ਣ
All of them looked elegant with ornaments like armlets.
ਲਸੈਮੁਤਕਾਚਾਰਦੁਮਲਿਅੰਹਾਣੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਸੋਭ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੱਲ ਹਾਣੀ ਸਨ।
Their necklaces of gems glistened and their turbans looked graceful on the heads of both the warriors of the same age.
ਦੋਊਮੀਰਧੀਰੰਦੋਊਪਰਮਓਜੰ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੈਨਾਨੀ ਬੜੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਓਜ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ।
Both the Chiefs were men of great strength and composure.
ਦੋਊਮਾਨਧਾਤਾਮਹੀਪੰਕਿਭੋਜੰ॥੬॥੨੨੪॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਾਨਧਾਤਾ ਅਥਵਾ ਭੋਜ ਵਰਗੇ ਸਨ ॥੬॥੨੨੪॥
Both were either king Mandhata or king Bhoj.6.224.
ਦੋਊਬੀਰਬਾਨਾਬਧੈਅਧਅਧੰ॥
ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵੀਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ (ਦੇ ਭੱਥੇ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
Both the warriors had tightened their tearing shafts.
ਦੋਊਸਸਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀਮਹਾਜੁਧਕ੍ਰੁਧੰ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ।
Both the weapon-wielding warriors began to wage war in great fury.
ਦੋਊਕ੍ਰੂਰਕਰਮੰਦੋਊਜਾਨਬਾਹੰ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੁਜਾਵਾਂ ਗੋਡਿਆਂ ਤਕ ਲੰਬੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
Both the heroes of violent actions had long arms like gods.
ਦੋਊਹਦਿਹਿੰਦੂਨਸਾਹਾਨਸਾਹੰ॥੭॥੨੨੫॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਧੁਰ ਤਕ (ਸ਼ਾਨ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਸਨ ॥੭॥੨੨੫॥
Both were great kings with extraordinary knowledge of Hindusim.7.225.
ਦੋਊਸਸਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੰਦੋਊਪਰਮਦਾਨੰ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਦਾਨੀ ਸਨ।
Both were weapon-wielders and supreme donors.
ਦੋਊਢਾਲਢੀਚਾਲਹਿੰਦੂਹਿੰਦਾਨੰ॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹਿੰਦੁਤਵ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਢਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਸਨ।
Both were Indians and capable of protecting themselves with their shields.
