ਨਾ ਜਿਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਨ (ਯੋਧਿਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਿਧ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The Kshatriya kings were mashed and destroyed. In the Great war the unconquerable were conquered.
ਖੰਡਿਯੋਸੁਉਤ੍ਰਖੁਰਾਸਾਨਦੇਸ॥
ਉੱਤਰ (ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਰਾਸਾਨ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਖੰਡਨ ਕੀਤਾ
ਦਛਨਪੂਰਬਜੀਤੇਨਰੇਸ॥੧੪॥੧੩੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਬ (ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੪॥੧੩੯॥
The Khorasan country in the North was destroyed, The kings of the South and East were conquered.14.139.
ਖਗਖੰਡਖੰਡਜੀਤੇਮਹੀਪ॥
(ਆਪਣੇ) ਖੜਗ-ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਜਿਤ ਲਏ।
ਬਜਿਯੋਨਿਸਾਨਇਹਜੰਬੂਦੀਪ॥
ਇਸ ਜੰਬੂ ਦੀਪ ਵਿਚ (ਰਾਜੇ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਦਾ) ਧੌਂਸਾ ਵਜਣ ਲਗਿਆ।

ਰਾਜਸੂਯ ਯੱਗ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧੫॥੧੪੦॥

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਜਿਤਜਿਤਗੁਨਾਢਕੀਏਇਕਤ੍ਰ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ (ਜੋ) ਗੁਣਵਾਨ (ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
He sent letters to all countries. All the qualified Brahmins were gathered together.
ਮਖਰਾਜਸੂਅਕੋਕੀਯੋਅਰੰਭ॥
ਰਾਜਸੂਯ ਯੱਗ ('ਮਖ') ਦਾ ਆਰੰਭ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਬਹੁਤਬੁਲਾਇਜਿਤੇਅਸੰਭ॥੧੬॥੧੪੧॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ, (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤਣਾ) ਅਸੰਭਵ ਸੀ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ) ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੬॥੧੪੧॥
The performance of Rajsu sacrifice was started. Many of the conquered kings were called.16.141.

ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਯੱਗ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਮਕਾਂਡੀਆਂ ('ਰਿਤਜ') ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।

ਕੋਟਿਕੋਟਿਬਨਾਇਬਿੰਜਨਭੋਗੀਅਹਿਬਹੁਭਾਇ॥
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਬਣਵਾਏ ਗਏ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
Million of different foods were prepared which were enjoyed with relish.
ਜਤ੍ਰਤਤ੍ਰਸਮਗ੍ਰਕਾਕਹੂੰਲਾਗਹੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਰਾਇ॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਥੇ ਸਾਮਗ੍ਰੀ (ਖਿਲਰੀ ਪਈ ਸੀ) ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਕਈ ਰਾਜੇ ਲਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
Many chief Sovereigns were busy in collecting required materials.
ਰਾਜਸੂਇਕਰਹਿਲਗੇਸਭਧਰਮਕੋਚਿਤਚਾਇ॥੧॥੧੪੨॥
(ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਮ-ਕਰਮ ਲਈ ਚਾਹ ਸੀ, ਰਾਜਸੂਯ ਯੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਲਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ॥੧॥੧੪੨॥
Thus, the Rajsu sacrifice began to be performed with religious zeal.1.142.
ਏਕਏਕਸੁਵਰਨਕੋਦਿਜਏਕਦੀਜੈਭਾਰ॥
(ਯੱਗ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ) ਇਕ ਇਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਭਾਰ ਸੋਨਾ ਦਿਓ।
The orders were given for giving one load of gold to each Brahmin.
ਏਕਸਉਗਜਏਕਸਉਰਥਿਦੁਇਸਹੰਸ੍ਰਤੁਖਾਰ॥
ਇਕ ਸੌ ਹਾਥੀ, ਇਕ ਸੌ ਰਥ, ਦੋ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਘੋੜੇ,
One hundred elephants, one hundred chariots and two thousand horses
ਸਹੰਸਚਤੁਰਸੁਵਰਨਸਿੰਗੀਮਹਿਖਦਾਨਅਪਾਰ॥
ਚਾਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਸੁਨਹਿਰੀ ਸਿੰਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮੱਝਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਪਾਰ ਦਾਨ ਦਿਉ।
And also four thousand cow with gilded horns and innumerable buffalos in charity
ਏਕਏਕਹਿਦੀਜੀਐਸੁਨਰਾਜਰਾਜਅਉਤਾਰ॥੨॥੧੪੩॥
(ਇਤਨਾ ਕੁਝ) ਇਕ ਇਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਓ, (ਹੇ) ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਓ! ਸੁਣੋ ॥੨॥੧੪੩॥
Listen O Chief of the Kings, give these gifts to each Brahmin.2.143.
ਸੁਵਰਨਦਾਨਸੁਦਾਨਰੁਕਮਦਾਨਸੁਤਾਂਬ੍ਰਦਾਨਅਨੰਤ॥
ਸੋਨਾ, ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਂਬੇ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਤ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Innumerable articles like gold, silver and copper were given in charity.
ਅੰਨਦਾਨਅਨੰਤਦੀਜਤਦੇਖਦੀਨਦੁਰੰਤ॥
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਦੁਖੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅੰਨ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Innumerable alms of grain were given to many gathered poor people.
ਬਸਤ੍ਰਦਾਨਪਟੰਬ੍ਰਦਾਨਸੁਸਸਤ੍ਰਦਾਨਦਿਜੰਤ॥
ਬਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ, ਰੇਸ਼ਮੀ ਕਪੜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Other items given in charity were the common clothes, silken clothes and weapons.
ਭੂਪਭਿਛਕਹੁਇਗਏਸਬਦੇਸਦੇਸਦੁਰੰਤ॥੩॥੧੪੪॥
ਦੂਰੋਂ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਦਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ ॥੩॥੧੪੪॥
The beggars from many countries became well-off.3.144.
ਚਤ੍ਰਕੋਸਬਨਾਹਿਕੁੰਡਕਸਹਸ੍ਰਲਾਇਪਰਨਾਰ॥
ਚਾਰ ਕੋਹਾਂ ਤਕ ਯੱਗ-ਕੁੰਡ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਲੇ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
The fire-altar extended upto four kos and had one thousand drains.
ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰਹੋਮਕਰੈਲਗੈਦਿਜਬੇਦਬਿਆਸਅਉਤਾਰ॥
ਵੇਦ ਵਿਆਸ ਦੇ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਵਰਗੇ ਇਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੋਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ।
One thousand Brahmins, considered incarnations of Ved Vyas, began the performance of sacrifice.
ਹਸਤਸੁੰਡਪ੍ਰਮਾਨਘ੍ਰਿਤਕੀਪਰਤਧਾਰਅਪਾਰ॥
ਹਾਥੀ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਡ ਜਿੰਨੀ (ਮੋਟੀ) ਘਿਓ ਦੀ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਧਾਰ (ਯੱਗ ਕੁੰਡ ਵਿਚ) ਪੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
The continuous current of clarified butter of the size of elephant’s trunk fell in the pit.
ਹੋਤਭਸਮਅਨੇਕਬਿੰਜਨਲਪਟਝਪਟਕਰਾਲ॥੪॥੧੪੫॥
ਉਸ ਭਿਆਨਕ (ਅਗਨੀ ਦੀ) ਲਾਟ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭਸਮ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੪॥੧੪੫॥
Many materials were reduced to ashes by the dreadful flame.4.145.
ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਾਸਭਤੀਰਥਕੀਸਭਤੀਰਥਕੋਲੈਬਾਰ॥
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਲ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ।
The earth and water of all the pilgrim-stations was broutht.

ਭਾਂਤਭਾਤਨਕੇਮਹਾਰਸਹੋਮੀਐਤਿਹਮਾਹਿ॥
ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦੀ ਖਾਣੇ ਉਸ (ਕੁੰਡ) ਵਿਚ ਹੋਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
Various kids of tasteful foods were burnt in the alftar.
ਦੇਖਚਕ੍ਰਤਰਹੈਦਿਜੰਬਰਰੀਝਹੀਨਰਨਾਹ॥੫॥੧੪੬॥
(ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੫॥੧੪੬॥
Seeing which the superb Brahmins were astonished and the kings pleased.5.146.
ਭਾਤਭਾਤਅਨੇਕਬਿਜੰਨਹੋਮੀਐਤਿਹਆਨ॥
ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਾਣ ਯੋਗ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ (ਕੁੰਡ) ਵਿਚ ਹੋਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Many and various types of foods were burnt in the altar.
ਚਤੁਰਬੇਦਪੜੈਚਤ੍ਰਸਭਬਿਪਬ੍ਯਾਸਸਮਾਨ॥
ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੇਦ ਵਿਆਸ ਵਰਗੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
On all the four sides the learned Brahmins were reciting the four Vedas, like Vyas.
ਭਾਤਭਾਤਅਨੇਕਭੂਪਤਦੇਤਦਾਨਅਨੰਤ॥
ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਰਾਜੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।

ਭੂਮਭੂਰਉਠੀਜਯਤਧੁਨਜਤ੍ਰਤਤ੍ਰਦੁਰੰਤ॥੬॥੧੪੭॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਥੇ ਭੂ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਜੈ-ਜੈਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਧੁਨੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ॥੬॥੧੪੭॥
Here, there and everywhere on the earth infinite strain of victory was sounded.6.147.
ਜੀਤਜੀਤਮਵਾਸਆਸਨਅਰਬਖਰਬਛਿਨਾਇ॥
ਆਕੀ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ('ਆਸਨ') ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਜਿਤ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਅਰਬਾਂ ਖਰਬਾਂ ਦੇ (ਕੋਸ਼) ਖੋਹ ਕੇ
Counquering the rebel kings and seizing the unaccountable wealth and precious things
ਆਨਿਆਨਿਦੀਏਦਿਜਾਨਨਜਗਮੈਕੁਰਰਾਇ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਨੇ ਯੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
(Yusdhishtra) the king of Kuru country brought that wealth and distributed among the Brahmins.
ਭਾਤਭਾਤਅਨੇਕਧੂਪਸੁਧੂਪੀਐਤਿਹਆਨ॥
ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਧੂਪ ਲਿਆ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਧੁਖਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Many types of fragrant materials were ignited there.
ਭਾਤਭਾਤਉਠੀਜਯਧੁਨਿਜਤ੍ਰਤਤ੍ਰਦਿਸਾਨ॥੭॥੧੪੮॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਥੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੈ-ਜੈਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ॥੭॥੧੪੮॥
Here, there and everywhere in all directions many types of the strains of victory were sounded.7.148.
ਜਰਾਸੰਧਹਮਾਰਕੈਪੁਨਿਕੈਰਵਾਹਥਿਪਾਇ॥
ਜਰਾਸਿੰਧ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ, ਫਿਰ ਕੌਰਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਕੀਤਾ
After slaying Jarasandh and then conquering the Kauravas,
ਰਾਜਸੂਇਕੀਓਬਡੋਮਖਿਕਿਸਨਕੇਮਤਿਭਾਇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਰਾਜਸੂਯ ਯੱਗ ਕੀਤਾ।
Yudhishtra performed the great Rajsu sacrifice in consultation with Krishna.

ਅਨੰਤ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਕੇ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਜਸੂਯ ਯੱਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
Conquering innumerable enemies, for many days, he performed the Rajsu sacrifice.
ਬਾਜਮੇਧਅਰੰਭਕੀਨੋਬੇਦਬ੍ਯਾਸਮਤੰਤ॥੮॥੧੪੯॥
ਫਿਰ ਵੇਦ ਵਿਆਸ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਅਸ਼੍ਵਮੇਧ ਯੱਗ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੪੯॥
Then, with the advice of Ved Vyas, he began the performance of horse-sacrifice.8.149.

ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਸਫੈਦ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ, ਕਾਲੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸੁਨਹਿਰੀ ਰੰਗ ਦੀ ਪੂਛਲ ਵਾਲਾ,
(The Sacrificial horse) is of white colour, black ears having golden tail
ਰਤਨਤੁੰਗਉਤੰਗਬਾਜਤਉਚਸ੍ਰਵਾਹਸਮਾਨ॥
ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ, ਉਚੀ ਗਰਦਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਚਸ੍ਰਵਹ ਵਰਗਾ ਘੋੜਾ (ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ)
