ਇਹਕਉਨਆਹਿਆਤਮਾਸਰੂਪ॥
ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ
ਜਿਹਅਮਿਤਤੇਜਿਅਤਿਭੁਤਿਬਿਭੂਤਿ॥੨॥੧੨੭॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਸੀਮ ਤੇਜ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਵਿਭੂਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੨੭॥
“What is this Soul Entity? Which hath indelible glory and which is of queer substance.”2.127.
ਪਰਾਤਮਾਬਾਚ॥
ਪਰਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ
The Higher Soul said:
ਯਹਿਬ੍ਰਹਮਆਹਿਆਤਮਾਰਾਮ॥
ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ! ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਸੀਮ ਤੇਜ ਹੈ,
“This Soul is itself Brahman
ਜਿਹਅਮਿਤਤੇਜਿਅਬਿਗਤਅਕਾਮ॥
ਜੋ ਗਤਿ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ
” Who is of Everlasting Glory and is Unmanisfested and Desireless.
ਜਿਹਭੇਦਭਰਮਨਹੀਕਰਮਕਾਲ॥
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਦ, ਭਰਮ, ਕਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਨਹੀਂ
Who is indiscriminate, actionless and deathless
ਜਿਹਸਤ੍ਰਮਿਤ੍ਰਸਰਬਾਦਿਆਲ॥੩॥੧੨੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਵੈਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਤਰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਦਿਆਲ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੧੨੮॥
Who hath no enemy and friend and is Merciful towards all.3.1228.
ਡੋਬਿਯੋਨਡੁਬੈਸੋਖਿਯੋਨਜਾਇ॥
ਜੋ ਡੁਬਾਇਆਂ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸੁਕਾਇਆ ਸੁਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
It is neither drowned nor soaked
ਕਟਿਯੋਨਕਟੈਨਬਾਰਿਯੋਬਰਾਇ॥
ਕਟਿਆਂ ਕਟਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, (ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾੜਿਆਂ ਸੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
It can neither be chopped nor burnt.
ਛਿਜੈਨਨੈਕਸਤਸਸਤ੍ਰਪਾਤ॥
ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਛਿਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
It cannot be assailed by the blow of weapon
ਜਿਹਸਤ੍ਰਮਿਤ੍ਰਨਹੀਜਾਤਪਾਤ॥੪॥੧੨੯॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਤ-ਭਾਈਚਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੨੯॥
It hath neither an enemy nor a friend, neither caste not lineage.4.129.
ਸਤ੍ਰਸਹੰਸਸਤਿਸਤਿਪ੍ਰਘਾਇ॥
(ਚਾਹੇ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵੈਰੀ (ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਕਰਨ,
ਛਿਜੈਨਨੈਕਖੰਡਿਓਨਜਾਇ॥
(ਉਹ) ਨਾ ਛਿਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ,
By the blow of thousands of enemies, It is neither wasted away nor fragmented.
ਨਹੀਜਰੈਨੈਕਪਾਵਕਮੰਝਾਰ॥
(ਜੋ) ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਸੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਬੋਰੈਨਸਿੰਧਸੋਖੈਨਬ੍ਯਾਰ॥੫॥੧੩੦॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਡੁਬਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਯੂ ਸੁਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੫॥੧੩੦॥
It is not burnt even in the fire. It is neither drowned in the sea nor soaked by the air.5.130.
ਇਕਕਰ੍ਯੋਪ੍ਰਸਨਆਤਮਾਦੇਵ॥
ਆਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ,
ਅਨਭੰਗਰੂਪਅਨਿਭਉਅਭੇਵ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ, ਡਰ ਤੋ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਭੇਦ-ਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੇ!
Then the Soul questioned the Lord thus : “O Lord! Thou art Invincible, Intuitive and Indiscriminate Entity
ਯਹਿਚਤੁਰਵਰਗਸੰਸਾਰਦਾਨ॥
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਵਰਗ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
“This world mentions four categories of Charities
ਕਿਹੁਚਤੁਰਵਰਗਕਿਜੈਵਖਿਆਨ॥੬॥੧੩੧॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਚਾਰ ਵਰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਰੋ ॥੬॥੧੩੧॥
Which are these categories, tell me Graciously.”6.131.
ਇਕਰਾਜੁਧਰਮਇਕਦਾਨਧਰਮ॥
(ਉੱਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਇਕ ਰਾਜ-ਧਰਮ (ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ) ਹੈ, ਇਕ ਦਾਨ-ਧਰਮ (ਧਰਮ-ਨੀਤੀ) ਹੈ,
One is political discipline, one is ascetic’s discipline
ਇਕਭੋਗਧਰਮਇਕਮੋਛਕਰਮ॥
ਇਕ ਭੋਗ-ਧਰਮ (ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਥ-ਨੀਤੀ) ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਮੋਖਕਰਮ (ਸੰਨਿਆਸ-ਨੀਤੀ)।
One is householder’s discipline, one is ascetic’s discipline.
ਇਕਚਤੁਰਵਰਗਸਭਜਗਭਣੰਤ॥
ਇਹੀ ਚਾਰ ਵਰਗ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
All the world knows this one of four categories
ਸੇਆਤਮਾਹਪਰਾਤਮਾਪੁਛੰਤ॥੭॥੧੩੨॥
(ਫਿਰ) ਆਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਛਿਆ ॥੭॥੧੩੨॥
That Soul makes enquiries from the Lord.7.132.
ਇਕਰਾਜਧਰਮਇਕਧਰਮਦਾਨ॥
ਇਕ ਰਾਜ-ਧਰਮ, ਇਕ ਦਾਨ-ਧਰਮ,
One is political discipline and one is religious discipline
ਇਕਭੋਗਧਰਮਇਕਮੋਛਵਾਨ॥
ਇਕ ਭੋਗ-ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਮੋਖ-ਕਰਮ ਹੈ,
One is householder’s discipline, one is ascetic’s discipline .
ਤੁਮਕਹੋਚਤ੍ਰਚਤ੍ਰੈਬਿਚਾਰ॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਪੂਵਕ ਸਮਝਾਓ।
Tell me Graciously Thy thoughts about all the four:
ਜੇਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਲਭਏਜੁਗਅਪਾਰ॥੮॥੧੩੩॥
(ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦਸੋ ਕਿ) ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਕਾਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੌਣ ਕੌਣ) ਹੋਏ ਹਨ? ॥੮॥੧੩੩॥
And also tell me their originators in long ages in three epochs.8.133.
ਬਰਨੰਨਕਰੋਤੁਮਪ੍ਰਿਥਮਦਾਨ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦਾਨ-ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰੋ,
Describe to me the first discipline
ਜਿਮਦਾਨਧਰਮਕਿੰਨੇਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਨ-ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
How this religious discipline was observed by the kings.
ਸਤਿਜੁਗਕਰਮਸੁਰਦਾਨਦੰਤ॥
ਸਤਿਯੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ
In Satyuga charities were given by performing virtuous actions
ਭੂਮਾਦਿਦਾਨਕੀਨੇਅਕੰਥ॥੯॥੧੩੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਭੂਮੀ ਆਦਿ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ (ਜੋ) ਕਥਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਨ ॥੯॥੧੩੪॥
Indescribable charities of lands etc , were given.9.134.
ਤ੍ਰੈਜੁਗਮਹੀਪਬਰਨੇਨਜਾਤ॥
ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਗਾਥਾਅਨੰਤਉਪਮਾਅਗਾਤ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕਥਾ ਅਮੁਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਥਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ('ਅਗਾਤ')
It is difficult to describe the king of three ages, their story is endless and the Praise indescribable.
ਜੋਕੀਏਜਗਤਮੈਜਗਧਰਮ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਯੱਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਧਰਮ ਕੀਤੇ
ਬਰਨੇਨਜਾਹਿਤੇਅਮਿਤਕਰਮ॥੧੦॥੧੩੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਨੰਤ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਤੇ, (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਵਰਣਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧੦॥੧੩੫॥
By performing sacrifices, the religious discipline unlimited action.10.135.
ਕਲਜੁਗਤੇਆਦਿਜੋਭਏਮਹੀਪ॥
ਕਲਿਯੁਗ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਜੇ ਹੋਏ
ਇਹਿਭਰਥਖੰਡਿਮਹਿਜੰਬੂਦੀਪ॥
ਇਸ ਭਾਰਤ-ਖੰਡ ਦੇ ਜੰਬੂ ਦੀਪ ਵਿਚ-
The kings that reigned before Kaliyuga, in the Jambu Dvipa in the Bharat Khand.
ਤ੍ਵਬਲਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਬਰਣੌਸੁਤ੍ਰੈਣ॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ('ਤ੍ਰੈਣ') ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਰਾਜਾਯੁਧਿਸਟ੍ਰਭੂਭਰਥਏਣ॥੧੧॥੧੩੬॥
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ('ਭੂ') ਨੂੰ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਲੰਕ-ਰਹਿਤ ('ਏਣ') ਇਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥੧੩੬॥
I describe them with Thy Strength and Glory, The king Yadhishtra was the unblemished Sustainer of the earth.11.136.
ਖੰਡੇਅਖੰਡਜਿਹਚਤੁਰਖੰਡ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਚੌਹਾਂ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖੰਡਿਤ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਖੰਡਨ ਕੀਤਾ
ਕੈਰੌਕੁਰਖੇਤ੍ਰਮਾਰੇਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕੌਰਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰ (ਦੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ (ਬਲ ਨਾਲ) ਮਾਰਿਆ,
He (Yadhishtra) broke the unbreakable ones in the four khands (regions), He destroyed the Kauravas with great might in the war of Kurukshetra.
ਜਿਹਚਤੁਰਕੁੰਡਜਿਤਿਯੋਦੁਬਾਰ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਜਿਤਿਆ
ਅਰਜਨਭੀਮਾਦਿਭ੍ਰਾਤਾਜੁਝਾਰ॥੧੨॥੧੩੭॥
(ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ) ਅਰਜਨ, ਭੀਮ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਭਰਾ ਸਨ ॥੧੨॥੧੩੭॥
He conquered twice all the four directions. The mighty warriors like Arjuna and Bhim were his brothers.12.137.
ਅਰਜਨਪਠਿਯੋਉਤਰਦਿਸਾਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ (ਜਿਤਣ ਲਈ) ਅਰਜਨ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ
ਭੀਮਹਿਕਰਾਇਪੂਰਬਪਯਾਨ॥
ਅਤੇ ਭੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਵ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ,
He sent Arjuna toward the North for conquest, Bhim went for conquest to the east.
ਸਹਿਦੇਵਪਠਿਯੋਦਛਣਸੁਦੇਸ॥
ਸਹਿਦੇਵ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਖਣ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਲ ਘਲਿਆ
ਨੁਕਲਹਿਪਠਾਇਪਛਮਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ॥੧੩॥੧੩੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਕੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਛਮ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੩॥੧੩੮॥
Sahdev was sent to the country in the South, Nakul was sent to the West.13.138.
ਮੰਡੇਮਹੀਪਖੰਡਿਯੋਖਤ੍ਰਾਣ॥
(ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਸਲ ('ਮੰਡੇ') ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਛਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
