ਅਗਰਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਬਰਵੈਰਾਜ਼ੀਸ਼ਵਦ॥੧੦੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਰਹਿਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੦੩॥
on whom the Merciful Lord showers His Graces.103.
ਅਗਰਬਰਯਕਾਯਦਦਹੋਦਹਹਜ਼ਾਰ॥
ਜੇ ਕਰ ਇਕ ਉਤੇ ਇਕ ਲੱਖ ਬੰਦਾ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆ ਜਾਵੇ,
When one man is attacked by lakh,
ਨਿਗਹਬਾਨਓਰਾਸ਼ਵਦਕਰਦਗਾਰ॥੧੦੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੪॥
the Generous Lord gives him protection.104.
ਤੁਰਾਗਰਨਜ਼ਰਹਸਤਲਸ਼ਕਰਵਜ਼ਰ॥
ਜੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਉਤੇ ਹੈ,
Just as our hopes lie in your wealth,
ਕਿਮਾਰਾਨਿਗ੍ਹਾਅਸਤਯਜ਼ਦਾਂਸ਼ੁਕਰ॥੧੦੫॥
ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਲ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੫॥
I depend upon the Grace of the Lord.105.
ਕਿਤੋਰਾਗ਼ਰੂਰਅਸਤਬਰਮੁਲਕੋਮਾਲ॥
ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੁਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ,
You are proud of your kingdom and wealth,
ਵਮਾਰਾਪਨਾਹਅਸਤਯਜ਼ਦਾਂਅਕਾਲ॥੧੦੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਦਾ (ਮਾਣ) ਹੈ ॥੧੦੬॥
but I take refuge in the Non-Temporal Lord.106.
ਤੁਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਲਮਸ਼ੌਜ਼ੀਸਿਪੰਜੀਸਰਾਇ॥
ਤੂੰ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਲ ਨਾ ਬਣ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਇਕ ਸਰਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ।
Do not be careless about this fact that this saraae (resting place)
ਕਿਆਲਮਬਿਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਸਰੇਜਾਬਜਾਇ॥੧੦੭॥
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਜਾਂ ਸਮਾਂ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੋਂ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੭॥
is not the permanent abode.107.
ਬਬੀਂਗਰਦਸ਼ਿਬੇਵਫ਼ਾਇਜ਼ਮਾਂ॥
ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਜ਼ਮਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬੇਵਫ਼ਾਈ ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ
Look at the time-cycle, which is undependable
ਕਿਬਿਗੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤਬਰਹਰਮਕੀਨੋਮਕਾਂ॥੧੦੮॥
ਕਿ ਇਹ ਹਰ ਮਕਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਕਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਉਪਰੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੮॥
It gives a fatal blow to everthing of this world.108.
ਤੂਗਰਜਬਰਆਜਿਜ਼-ਖ਼ਰਾਸ਼ੀਮਕੁਨ॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖ ਨਾ ਦੇ।
Do not oppose the lowly and helpless
ਕਸਮਰਾਬਤੇਸ਼ਹਤਰਾਸ਼ੀਮਕੁਨ॥੧੦੯॥
ਆਪਣੀ ਕਸਮ ਦੇ ਤੇਸ਼ੇ ਨਾਲ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਿਲ ਨਾ ਲਾਹ ॥੧੦੯॥
Do not break the oaths taken on the Quran.109.
ਚੂੰਹੱਕਯਾਰਬਾਸ਼ਦਚਿਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਕੁਨਦ॥
ਜੇ ਰੱਬ (ਵਰਗਾ) ਦੋਸਤ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
If God is friendly, what the enemy can do?
ਅਗਰਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀਰਾਬਸਦਤਨਕੁਨਦ॥੧੧੦॥
ਚਾਹੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਸੌ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣੀ (ਕਿਉਂ ਨ) ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ ॥੧੧੦॥
Though he may be inimical in many ways.110.
ਖ਼ਸਮਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀਗਰਹਜ਼ਾਰਆਵੁਰਦ॥
ਜੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ (ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ) ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਲਿਆਵੇ,
The enemy may try to give a thousand blows,
ਨਯਕਮੂਇਓਰਾਆਜ਼ਾਰਆਵੁਰਦ॥੧੧੧॥੧॥
ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਵਾਲ ਵਿੰਗਾ ਕਰਨ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਦੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕੇਗਾ ॥੧੧੧॥੧॥
but he cannot harm even one hair (if God is friendly).111.

The Lord is One and the Victory is of the True Guru.
ਅਗੰਜੋਅਭੰਜੋਅਰੂਪੋਅਰੇਖ॥
(ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਅਗੰਜ (ਨ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਅਭੰਜ (ਨ ਭੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਖਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ।
Now listen to the Tale of Raja Daleep,
ਅਗਾਧੋਅਬਾਧੋਅਭਰਮੋਅਲੇਖ॥੧॥
(ਉਹ) ਅਗਾਧ, ਬੰਧਨ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਭਰਮਮੁ ਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ('ਅਲੇਖੇ') ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Who was sitting besides the Honourable One (the King).(1)
ਅਰਾਗੋਅਰੂਪੋਅਰੇਖੋਅਰੰਗ॥
ਰਾਗ (ਦ੍ਵੈਸ਼) ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ, ਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਰੇਖਾ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ।
The King had four sons,
ਅਜਨਮੋਅਬਰਨੋਅਭੂਤੋਅਭੰਗ॥੨॥
ਅਜਨਮਾ, ਅਕਥਨੀ, (ਪੰਜਾਂ) ਭੂਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੰਗ (ਨਸ਼ਟ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Who had learned the art of fighting and the Royal Court Etiquettes.(2)
ਅਛੇਦੋਅਭੇਦੋਅਕਰਮੋਅਕਾਮ॥
(ਉਹ) ਨਾ ਛੇਦਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਭੇਦਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ, ਕਰਮ-ਚਕ੍ਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰ ਹੈ।
In the war they were like the crocodiles and excited lions,
ਅਖੇਦੋਅਭੇਦੋਅਭਰਮੋਅਭਾਮ॥੩॥
ਖੇਦ ਰਹਿਤ, ਭੇਦ ਰਹਿਤ, ਭਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Also they were very proficient horse-riders and adept in the hand-movements.(3)
ਅਰੇਖੋਅਭੇਖੋਅਲੇਖੋਅਭੰਗ॥
(ਉਹ) ਅਰੇਖ, ਅਭੇਖ, ਅਲੇਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੰਗ ਹੈ।
The King called all his four sons,
ਖ਼ੁਦਾਵੰਦਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿੰਦਹੇਰੰਗਰੰਗ॥੪॥
(ਉਹ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਰੰਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
And offered them to sit on the gilded chairs.(4)
ਹਿਕਾਯਤਸ਼ੁਨੀਦੇਮਰਾਜਹਿਦਿਲੀਪ॥
ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਦਿਲੀਪ ਦੀ (ਇਕ) ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੁਣੀ ਹੈ
He, then, asked his prolific ministers,
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤਹਬੁਦਹਨਿਜ਼ਦਮਾਨੋਮਹੀਪ॥੫॥
ਜੋ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ) ਮਾਨਧਾਤਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੀ ॥੫॥
‘Who among these four is suitable for kingship?‘(5)
ਕਿਓਰਾਹਮੀਬੂਦਪਿਸਰੇਚਹਾਰ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੰਗ
When the wise minister heard this,
ਕਿਦਰਰਜ਼ਮਦਰਬਜ਼ਮਆਮੁਖ਼ਤਹਕਾਰ॥੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ (ਦੇ ਕੰਮ) ਸਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ॥੬॥
He raised the flag to answer.(6)
ਬਰਜ਼ਮਅੰਦਰਾਹਮਚੁਅਜ਼ਸ਼ੇਰਮਸਤ॥
ਉਹ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
He spoke thus, ‘you are, yourself righteous and wise,
ਕਿਚਾਬਕਰਿਕਾਬਸਤੁਗੁਸਤਾਖ਼ਦਸਤ॥੭॥
ਉਹ ਪੱਕੇ ਘੋੜਸਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁਸਤ ਸਨ ॥੭॥
‘You are perceiver and possessor of independent reflections.(7)
ਚਹਾਰੋਸ਼ਹੇਪੇਸ਼ਪਿਸਰਾਬੁਖਾਦ॥
ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਸ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ
‘This, what you have asked, is beyond my faculty.
ਜੁਦਾਬਰਜੁਦਾਕੁਰਸੀਏਜ਼ਰਨਿਸ਼ਾਦ॥੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਆਸਣਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਬਿਠਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
‘Me suggesting might cause some friction.(8)
ਬਿਪੁਰਸ਼ੀਦਦਾਨਾਇਦਉਲਤਪਰਸਤ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਨੂੰ) ਪੁਛਿਆ
‘But, My Sovereign, if you insist, I would say,
ਅਜ਼ੀਅੰਦਰੂੰਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀਕਸਅਸਤ॥੯॥
ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
‘And present you the reaction (of our council).(9)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਆਂਚੁਦਾਨਾਇਦਾਨਸ਼ਨਿਹਾਦ॥
ਉਸ ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਨੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਵਿਚ
‘Because the one who endows helping hand,
ਬਤਮਕੀਨਪਾਸਖਅਲਮਬਰਕੁਸ਼ਾਦ॥੧੦॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਦਵੀ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਕੀਤਾ (ਭਾਵ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ) ॥੧੦॥
‘Gets the (godly) help to gain success.(10)
ਬਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤੰਦਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਦੀਨਦਾਨਾਇਨਗ਼ਜ਼॥
ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ। (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਧਰਮੀ, ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਚਤੁਰ ਹੋ।
‘First of all we must test their intelligence,
ਕਿਯਜ਼ਦਾਸ਼ਨਾਸਅਸਤੁਆਜ਼ਾਦਮਗ਼ਜ਼॥੧੧॥
(ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ॥੧੧॥
‘And then we will set them on trial to judge their work.(11)
ਮਰਾਕੁਦਰਤੇਨੇਸਤਈਂਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੀਸਤ॥
ਇਸ ਦਾ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
‘One (boy) should be given ten thousand elephants,
ਸੁਖਨਗੁਫ਼ਤਨੋਬਿਕਰਜਾਸੁਫ਼ਤਨੀਸਤ॥੧੨॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉੱਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਕੰਵਾਰੀ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਣ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
‘And those (elephants) must be intoxicated and tied in heavy chains.(12)
ਅਗਰਸ਼ਹਿਬਿਗੋਯਦਬਿਗੋਯਮਜਵਾਬ॥
ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿਆਂ
‘To the second one, we will give one hundred thousand horses,
ਨੁਮਾਯਮਬਤੋਹਾਲਈਂਬਾਸਵਾਬ॥੧੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਵਿਸਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿਆਂ ॥੧੩॥
‘On whose backs there will be gilded saddles, as charming as the spring-season.(13)
ਹਰਾਕਸਕਿਯਜ਼ਦਾਨਯਾਰੀਦਿਹਦ॥
ਹਰ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
‘The third one will be given three hundred thousand camels,
ਬਕਾਰੇਜਹਾਕਾਮਗਾਰੀਦਿਹਦ॥੧੪॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
‘Whose backs will be adorned with silver trappings.(14)
ਕਿਈਂਰਾਬਅਕਲਆਜ਼ਮਾਈਕੁਨੇਮ॥
ਜੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ,
‘To the fourth one, we will give one seed of moong (lentil) and half a seed of gram,
