ਨਾਮੇਸਰਭਰਿਸੋਨਾਲੇਹੁ॥੧੦॥
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਲ ਕੇ ਸੋਨਾ ਲੈ ਲੈ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ) ॥੧੦॥
Here, take Naam Dayvs weight in gold, and release him." ||10||
ਮਾਲੁਲੇਉਤਉਦੋਜਕਿਪਰਉ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਢੀ ਲਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
The king replied, "If I take the gold, then I will be consigned to hell,
ਦੀਨੁਛੋਡਿਦੁਨੀਆਕਉਭਰਉ॥੧੧॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੧॥
by forsaking my faith and gathering worldly wealth." ||11||
ਪਾਵਹੁਬੇੜੀਹਾਥਹੁਤਾਲ॥
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
With his feet in chains, Naam Dayv kept the beat with his hands,
ਨਾਮਾਗਾਵੈਗੁਨਗੋਪਾਲ॥੧੨॥
ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
singing the Praises of the Lord. ||12||
ਗੰਗਜਮੁਨਜਉਉਲਟੀਬਹੈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਜਮਨਾ ਉਲਟੀਆਂ ਭੀ ਵਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਣ,
"Even if the Ganges and the Jamunaa rivers flow backwards,
ਤਉਨਾਮਾਹਰਿਕਰਤਾਰਹੈ॥੧੩॥
ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ (ਤੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੇਗਾ) ॥੧੩॥
I will still continue singing the Praises of the Lord." ||13||
ਸਾਤਘੜੀਜਬਬੀਤੀਸੁਣੀ॥
(ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਗਾਂ ਜਿਵਾਲਣ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਪਹਿਰ ਮੁਹਲਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ) ਜਦੋਂ (ਘੜਿਆਲ ਤੇ) ਸੱਤ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰੀਆਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ,
Three hours passed,
ਅਜਹੁਨਆਇਓਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਧਣੀ॥੧੪॥
ਤਾਂ (ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮੇ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ) ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਭੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਕੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
and even then, the Lord of the three worlds had not come. ||14||
ਪਾਖੰਤਣਬਾਜਬਜਾਇਲਾ॥
(ਬੱਸ! ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ) ਖੰਭਾਂ ਦੇ ਫੜਕਣ ਦਾ ਖੜਾਕ ਆਇਆ,
Playing on the instrument of the feathered wings,
ਗਰੁੜਚੜੑੇਗੋਬਿੰਦਆਇਲਾ॥੧੫॥
ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਗਰੁੜ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੫॥
the Lord of the Universe came, mounted on the eagle garura. ||15||
ਅਪਨੇਭਗਤਪਰਿਕੀਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਲਈ,
He cherished His devotee,
ਗਰੁੜਚੜੑੇਆਏਗੋਪਾਲ॥੧੬॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਗਰੁੜ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆ ਗਏ ॥੧੬॥
and the Lord came, mounted on the eagle garura. ||16||
ਕਹਹਿਤਧਰਣਿਇਕੋਡੀਕਰਉ॥
(ਗੋਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ-ਹੇ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਟੇਢੀ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ,
The Lord said to him, "If you wish, I shall turn the earth sideways.
ਕਹਹਿਤਲੇਕਰਿਊਪਰਿਧਰਉ॥੧੭॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਉਲਟਾ ਦਿਆਂ ॥੧੭॥
If you wish, I shall turn it upside down. ||17||
ਕਹਹਿਤਮੁਈਗਊਦੇਉਜੀਆਇ॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਗਾਂ ਜਿਵਾਲ ਦਿਆਂ,
If you wish, I shall bring the dead cow back to life.
ਸਭੁਕੋਈਦੇਖੈਪਤੀਆਇ॥੧੮॥
ਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਜਣਾ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ॥੧੮॥
Everyone will see and be convinced." ||18||
ਨਾਮਾਪ੍ਰਣਵੈਸੇਲਮਸੇਲ॥
(ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮੇ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ-(ਗਊ ਨੂੰ) ਨਿਆਣਾ ਪਾ ਦਿਉ।
Naam Dayv prayed, and milked the cow.
ਗਊਦੁਹਾਈਬਛਰਾਮੇਲਿ॥੧੯॥
(ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਵੱਛਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗਾਂ ਚੋ ਲਈ ॥੧੯॥
He brought the calf to the cow, and milked her. ||19||
ਦੂਧਹਿਦੁਹਿਜਬਮਟੁਕੀਭਰੀ॥
ਦੁੱਧ ਚੋ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਟਕੀ ਭਰ ਲਈ,
When the pitcher was filled with milk,
ਲੇਬਾਦਿਸਾਹਕੇਆਗੇਧਰੀ॥੨੦॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨੦॥
Naam Dayv took it and placed it before the king. ||20||
ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹੁਮਹਲਮਹਿਜਾਇ॥
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਹਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ,
The king went into his palace,
ਅਉਘਟਕੀਘਟਲਾਗੀਆਇ॥੨੧॥
(ਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ) ਔਖੀ ਘੜੀ ਆ ਗਈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਸਹਿਮ ਗਿਆ) ॥੨੧॥
and his heart was troubled. ||21||
ਕਾਜੀਮੁਲਾਂਬਿਨਤੀਫੁਰਮਾਇ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮੌਲਵੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ (ਕਰ ਘੱਲੀ),
Through the Qazis and the Mullahs, the king offered his prayer,
ਬਖਸੀਹਿੰਦੂਮੈਤੇਰੀਗਾਇ॥੨੨॥
ਹੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਕਰ (ਜੋ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ), ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਾਂ ਹਾਂ ॥੨੨॥
"Forgive me, please, O Hindu; I am just a cow before you." ||22||
ਨਾਮਾਕਹੈਸੁਨਹੁਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ॥
ਨਾਮਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ! ਸੁਣ,
Naam Dayv said, "Listen, O king:
ਇਹੁਕਿਛੁਪਤੀਆਮੁਝੈਦਿਖਾਇ॥੨੩॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਦਿਵਾ ਦੇਹ ॥੨੩॥
have I done this miracle? ||23||
ਇਸਪਤੀਆਕਾਇਹੈਪਰਵਾਨੁ॥
ਇਸ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਪ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ,
The purpose of this miracle is
ਸਾਚਿਸੀਲਿਚਾਲਹੁਸੁਲਿਤਾਨ॥੨੪॥
ਕਿ ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੂੰ (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ) ਸੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰੇਂ, ਚੰਗੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੇਂ ॥੨੪॥
that you, O king, should walk on the path of truth and humility." ||24||
ਨਾਮਦੇਉਸਭਰਹਿਆਸਮਾਇ॥
(ਇਹ ਕੌਤਕ ਸੁਣ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ,
Naam Dayv became famous everywhere for this.
ਮਿਲਿਹਿੰਦੂਸਭਨਾਮੇਪਹਿਜਾਹਿ॥੨੫॥
(ਨਗਰ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਪਾਸ ਆਏ (ਤੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ-) ॥੨੫॥
The Hindus all went together to Naam Dayv. ||25||
ਜਉਅਬਕੀਬਾਰਨਜੀਵੈਗਾਇ॥
ਜੇ ਐਤਕੀਂ ਗਾਂ ਨਾ ਜੀਊਂਦੀ,
If the cow had not been revived,
ਤਨਾਮਦੇਵਕਾਪਤੀਆਜਾਇ॥੨੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸੀ ॥੨੬॥
people would have lost faith in Naam Dayv. ||26||
ਨਾਮੇਕੀਕੀਰਤਿਰਹੀਸੰਸਾਰਿ॥
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
The fame of Naam Dayv spread throughout the world.
ਭਗਤਜਨਾਂਲੇਉਧਰਿਆਪਾਰਿ॥੨੭॥
ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
The humble devotees were saved and carried across with him. ||27||
ਸਗਲਕਲੇਸਨਿੰਦਕਭਇਆਖੇਦੁ॥
(ਇਹ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
All sorts of troubles and pains afflicted the slanderer.
ਨਾਮੇਨਾਰਾਇਨਨਾਹੀਭੇਦੁ॥੨੮॥੧॥੧੦॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ) ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ॥੨੮॥੧॥੧੦॥
There is no difference between Naam Dayv and the Lord. ||28||1||10||
ਘਰੁ੨॥
Second House:
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਮਿਲੈਮੁਰਾਰਿ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one meets the Lord.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਉਤਰੈਪਾਰਿ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one is carried across to the other side.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਬੈਕੁੰਠਤਰੈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਇੱਥੋਂ) ਤਰ ਕੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਅੱਪੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one swims across to heaven.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਜੀਵਤਮਰੈ॥੧॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one remains dead while yet alive. ||1||
ਸਤਿਸਤਿਸਤਿਸਤਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਦੇਵ॥
ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨ ਜਾਣੋ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਹੈ।
True, True, True, True, True is the Divine Guru.
ਝੂਠੁਝੂਠੁਝੂਠੁਝੂਠੁਆਨਸਭਸੇਵ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੋਰ ਸਭ (ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ-ਪੂਜਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
False, false, false, false is all other service. ||1||Pause||
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਨਾਮੁਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਪਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is implanted within.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਨਦਹਦਿਸਧਾਵੈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਫਿਰ ਮਨ) ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one does not wander in the ten directions.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਪੰਚਤੇਦੂਰਿ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, the five demons are kept far away.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਨਮਰਿਬੋਝੂਰਿ॥੨॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਚਿੰਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਝੁਰ ਝੁਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਪਦਾ ॥੨॥
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one does not die regretting. ||2||
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਬਾਨੀ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one is blessed with the Ambrosial Bani of the Word.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਅਕਥਕਹਾਨੀ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one speaks the Unspoken Speech.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਦੇਹ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one's body becomes like ambrosial nectar.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਨਾਮੁਜਪਿਲੇਹਿ॥੩॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਇਹ ਸਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one utters and chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਭਵਨਤ੍ਰੈਸੂਝੈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ),
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one sees the three worlds.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਊਚਪਦਬੂਝੈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one understands the state of supreme dignity.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਤਸੀਸੁਅਕਾਸਿ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one's head is in the Akaashic ethers.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਸਦਾਸਾਬਾਸਿ॥੪॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one is always congratulated everywhere. ||4||
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਸਦਾਬੈਰਾਗੀ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ ਵਿਰਕਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one remains detached forever.
ਜਉਗੁਰਦੇਉਪਰਨਿੰਦਾਤਿਆਗੀ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one forsakes the slander of others.
