ਸਾਜਿਸਾਜਿਚਲੇਤਹਾਰਣਿਰਾਛਸੇਂਦ੍ਰਅਨੇਕ॥
ਅਨੇਕ ਰਾਖਸ਼ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸਜ-ਧਜ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਲਈ ਚਲ ਪਏ।
Decorating their forces many demon-generals marched towards the battlefield.
ਅਰਧਮੁੰਡਿਤਮੁੰਡਿਤੇਕਜਟਾਧਰੇਸੁਅਰੇਕ॥
(ਕਈਆਂ ਦੇ) ਪੂਰੇ ਅਤੇ (ਕਈਆਂ ਦੇ) ਅੱਧੇ ਸਿਰ ਮੁੰਨੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੱਟਾਂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ।
Many warriors are with half-shaven heads, many with fullshaven hads and many are with matted hair.
ਕੋਪਿਓਪੰਦੈਸਬੈਕਰਿਸਸਤ੍ਰਅਸਤ੍ਰਨਚਾਇ॥
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ-ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਚਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ
All of them in great fury, are causing the dance of their weapons and armour.
ਧਾਇਧਾਇਕਰੈਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਨਤਿਛਤੇਗਕੰਪਾਇ॥੪॥੬੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੌੜ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਤਿਖੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਬਾ ਕੰਬਾ ਕੇ ਵਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੪॥੬੮॥
They are running and striking blows, causing their sharp swords to shake and glitter. 4.68
ਸਸਤ੍ਰਅਸਤ੍ਰਲਗੇਜਿਤੇਸਬਫੂਲਮਾਲਹੁਐਗਏ॥
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਵੀ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ-ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ (ਦੇਵੀ ਨੂੰ) ਲਗੇ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
All the blows of weapons and arms, which struck the goddess, they appeared as garlands of flowers around her neck.
ਕੋਪਓਪਬਿਲੋਕਿਅਤਿਭੁਤਦਾਨਵੰਬਿਸਮੈਭਏ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਏ ਦਾਨਵ (ਇਸ) ਅਜੀਬ (ਕੌਤਕ) ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
Seeing this all the demons were filled with anger and astonishment.
ਦਉਰਦਉਰਅਨੇਕਆਯੁਧਫੇਰਿਫੇਰਿਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਹੀ॥
(ਉਹ) ਦੌੜ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Many of them, running ahead repeatedly strike blows with their weapons.
ਜੂਝਿਜੂਝਿਗਿਰੈਅਰੇਕਸੁਮਾਰਮਾਰਪੁਕਾਰਹੀ॥੫॥੬੯॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ) ਲੜ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਡਿਗਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਾਰੋ-ਮਾਰੋ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੫॥੬੯॥
And with shouts of “kill, kill”, they are fighting and falling down.5.69.
ਰੇਲਿਰੇਲਿਚਲੇਹਏਂਦ੍ਰਨਪੇਲਿਪੇਲਿਗਜੇਂਦ੍ਰ॥
ਘੋੜ-ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਸੈਨਾ-ਨਾਇਕ (ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਅਗੇ ਵਧਾ-ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਥੀ-ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ (ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਅਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਠੇਲ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
The horse-rider generals are driving forward theh horses and the elephant-rider generals are goading their elephants.
ਝੇਲਿਝੇਲਿਅਨੰਤਆਯੁਧਹੇਲਿਹੇਲਿਰਿਪੇਂਦ੍ਰ॥
ਅਨੰਤ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ (ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ) ਝਲਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਹੱਲੇ ਤੇ ਹੱਲਾ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸਨ।
Facing unlimited weapons, the enemies’ generals, enduring the blows, are still making an assault.
ਗਾਹਿਗਾਹਿਫਿਰੇਫਵਜਨਬਾਹਿਬਾਹਿਖਤੰਗ॥
(ਉਹ ਹਾਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜ-ਚੜ੍ਹੇ) ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਹ ਗਾਹ ਕੇ ਹੱਥਾ ਨਾਲ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
The armies crushing the warriors are marching forward and showering their arrows.
ਅੰਗਭੰਗਗਿਰੇਕਹੂੰਰਣਿਰੰਗਸੂਰਉਤੰਗ॥੬॥੭੦॥
ਕਈ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਅੰਗ ਕਟਵਾ ਕੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ ॥੬॥੭੦॥
Many heroic fighters, becoming limbless, have fallen down in the battlefield.6.70.
ਝਾਰਿਝਾਰਿਫਿਰੇਸਰੋਤਮਡਾਰਿਝਾਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ॥
ਉਤਮ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਵੈਰੀ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਝਾੜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਕਿਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ) ਝਾੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਟ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Some where the shafts are falling like rain-showers and somewhere the swords are striking blows collectively.
ਸੈਲਸੇਰਣਿਪੁੰਜਕੁੰਜਰਸੂਰਸੀਸਬਖਾਨ॥
(ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਦੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਦਾ ਰੂਪਕ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਵੀ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਝੁੰਡ ਪਰਬਤ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਪੱਥਰ ਹਨ।
The elephants seen together are like stony rocks and the heads of the warriors appear like stones.
ਬਕ੍ਰਨਕ੍ਰਭੁਜਾਸੁਸੋਭਿਤਚਕ੍ਰਸੇਰਥਚਕ੍ਰ॥
ਵਿੰਗੀਆਂ ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਮਗਰਮੱਛ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੋਲਾਕਾਰ ਪਹੀਏ ਕਛੂਏ ਸੋਭ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The crooked arms appear like octopus and the chariot wheels are like tortoises.
ਕੇਸਪਾਸਿਸਿਬਾਲਸੋਹਤਅਸਥਚੂਰਸਰਕ੍ਰ॥੭॥੭੧॥
ਕੇਸ ਅਤੇ ਫੰਧੇ ਕਾਈ ਜਿਹੇ ਦਿਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਚੂਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੇਤ ਹੈ ॥੭॥੭੧॥
The hair seem like noose and scum and the crushed bones like sand.7.71.
ਸਜਿਸਜਿਚਲੇਹਥਿਆਰਨਗਜਿਗਜਿਗਜੇਂਦ੍ਰ॥
ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜਾ ਸਜਾ ਕੇ ਗਜ ਵਜ ਕੇ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The warriors have bedecked themselves with weapons and the elephants are roaring wihil moving forward.
ਬਜਿਬਜਿਸਬਜਬਾਜਨਭਜਿਭਜਿਹਏਂਦ੍ਰ॥
ਵਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਘੋੜ-ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The horse-riding warriors are speedily moving with the sounds of various types of musical instruments.
ਮਾਰਮਾਰਪੁਕਾਰਕੈਹਥੀਆਰਹਾਥਿਸੰਭਾਰ॥
ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ 'ਮਾਰੋ ਮਾਰੋ' ਪੁਕਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ
Holding their weapons in their hands, the heroes are shouting “kill, kill”.
ਧਾਇਧਾਇਪਰੇਨਿਸਾਚਬਾਇਸੰਖਅਪਾਰ॥੮॥੭੨॥
ਰਾਖਸ਼ ਸੰਖ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਜ ਭਜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੮॥੭੨॥
Blowing many conches, the demons are running in the battlefield.8.72.
ਸੰਖਗੋਯਮੰਗਜੀਯੰਅਰੁਸਜੀਯੰਰਿਪੁਰਾਜ॥
ਸੰਖ ਅਤੇ ਰਣ-ਸਿੰਘੇ ('ਗੋਯਮੰ') ਗਰਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The conches and horns are being blown loudly and the generals of the enemy are ready for war.
ਭਾਜਿਭਾਜਿਚਲੇਕਿਤੇਤਜਿਲਾਜਬੀਰਨਿਲਾਜ॥
ਕਿਤਨੇ ਵੀਰ-ਯੋਧਾ ਲਾਜ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਲੱਜ ਹੋਏ ਭਜੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Somewhere the cowards, forsaking their shame, are running away.
ਭੀਮਭੇਰੀਭੁੰਕੀਅੰਅਰੁਧੁੰਕੀਅੰਸੁਨਿਸਾਣ॥
ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਭੇਰੀਆਂ ਵਜ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਧੌਂਸੇ ਧੁੱਕ ਧੁੱਕ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The sound of large-sized drums is being heard and the flags are fluttering.
ਗਾਹਿਗਾਹਿਫਿਰੇਫਵਜਨਬਾਹਿਬਾਹਿਗਦਾਣ॥੯॥੭੩॥
(ਵੀਰ ਸੈਨਿਕ) ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਹਉਂਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਗਦਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੯॥੭੩॥
The forces are roaming and striking their maces.9.73.
ਬੀਰਕੰਗਨੇਬੰਧਹੀਅਰੁਅਛਰੈਸਿਰਤੇਲੁ॥
ਵੀਰ ਯੋਧੇ (ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਗਾਨੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਪੱਛਰਾਵਾਂ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਲ ਝਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The heavenly maids are bedecking themselves and offering ornaments to the warriors.
ਬੀਰਬੀਨਿਬਰੇਬਰੰਗਨਡਾਰਿਡਾਰਿਫੁਲੇਲ॥
ਹੂਰਾਂ-ਪਰੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫੁਲੇਲ ਪਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਵਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
Selecting their heroes, the heavenly ladies are being bound with them in wedlock by showrering the oil impregnated with the essence of flowers.
ਘਾਲਿਘਾਲਿਬਿਵਾਨਲੇਗੀਫੇਰਿਫੇਰਿਸੁਬੀਰ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਠਾ ਕੇ (ਸੁਅਰਗ ਨੂੰ) ਲੈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ
They have taken away the warriors with them in their vehicles.
ਕੂਦਿਕੂਦਿਪਰੇਤਹਾਤੇਝਾਗਿਝਾਗਿਸੁਤੀਰ॥੧੦॥੭੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੀਰ-ਯੋਧੇ ਵਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਕੁਦ ਕੁਦ ਕੇ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝਾਗ ਝਾਗ (ਕੇ ਅਗੇ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧੦॥੭੪॥
The heroes inebriated for fighting in thhe war, jump from the vehicles and being shot with arrows, fall down below.10.74
ਹਾਕਿਹਾਕਿਲਰੇਤਹਾਰਣਿਰੀਝਿਰੀਝਿਭਟੇਂਦ੍ਰ॥
ਵੀਰ-ਯੋਧੇ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਥੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਰੀਝ ਰੀਝ ਕੇ ਲੜਦੇ ਹਨ
Delightfully shouting in the battlefield, the heroic generals have waged war.
ਜੀਤਿਜੀਤਿਲਯੋਜਿਨੈਕਈਬਾਰਇੰਦ੍ਰਉਪੇਂਦ੍ਰ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਇੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਪੇਂਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ
Who had several times conquered the king and other chieftains of gods.
ਕਾਟਿਕਾਟਿਦਏਕਪਾਲੀਬਾਟਿਬਾਟਿਦਿਸਾਨ॥
(ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ) ਕਟ ਕਟ ਦੇ ਕਪਾਲੀ (ਸ਼ਿਵ) ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ (ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਗੋਂ) ਦਸਾਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੰਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
Whom Durga (Kapali) chpped and threw in various directions.
ਡਾਟਿਡਾਟਿਕਰਿਦਲੰਸੁਰਪਗੁਪਬਪਿਸਾਨ॥੧੧॥੭੫॥
(ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੈਂਤ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਾਂਟ ਡਾਂਟ ਕੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਬਤ ਵਾਂਗ ਪੀਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥੭੫॥
And with those who had ground the mountains with the strength of their hands and feet 11.75.
ਧਾਇਧਾਇਸੰਘਾਰੀਅੰਰਿਪੁਰਾਜਬਾਜਅਨੰਤ॥
ਵੈਰੀ ਭਜ ਭਜ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The enemies speedily marching agead are killing countless horses.
ਸ੍ਰੋਣਕੀਸਰਤਾਉਠੀਰਣਮਧਿਰੂਪਦੁਰੰਤ॥
ਰਣਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੀ ਲਹੂ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਚਲ ਪਈ ਹੈ
And in the battlefield, the terrible stream of blood is flowing.
ਬਾਣਅਉਰਕਮਾਣਸੈਹਥੀਸੂਲਤਿਛੁਕੁਠਾਰ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ) ਬਾਣ, ਕਮਾਨ, ਸੈਹੱਥੀ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਖੇ ਕੁਹਾੜੇ (ਰੁੜ੍ਹੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ)।
The weapons like bow and arrows, sword, trident and sharpo axe are being used.
ਚੰਡਮੁੰਡਹਣੇਦੋਊਕਰਿਕੋਪਕਾਲਿਕ੍ਰਵਾਰ॥੧੨॥੭੬॥
ਕਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥੭੬॥
The goddess Kali in great rage, struck down and killed both Chand and Mund.12.76.

Kali in great rage, struck down both Chand and Mund and killed them.
ਅਉਰਜਿਤੀਸੈਨਾਹੁਤੀਛਿਨਮੋਦਈਸੰਘਾਰ॥੧੩॥੭੭॥
ਹੋਰ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਵੀ (ਦੈਂਤ) ਸੈਨਾ ਸੀ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਛਿਣ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥੭੭॥
And all the army, that was there, was destroyed in and instant.13.77.

The demons-king heard this news that Kali had killed Chand and Mund.
ਬੈਠਭ੍ਰਾਤਸੋਭ੍ਰਾਤਮੰਤ੍ਰਕਰਤਇਹਬਿਧਿਭਏ॥੧॥੭੮॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਦੋਹਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੧॥੭੮॥

ਰਕਤਬੀਜਤਪਭੂਪਿਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ) ਰਕਤ-ਬੀਜ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।
ਅਮਿਤਦਰਬੁਦੇਤਹਾਪਠਾਯੋ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then the king called Rakat Beej and sent him after giving him enormous wealth.
ਬਹੁਬਿਧਿਦਈਬਿਰੂਥਨਸੰਗਾ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ('ਬਿਰੂਥਨ') ਵੀ ਨਾਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ
ਹੈਗੈਰਥਪੈਦਲਚਤੁਰੰਗਾ॥੨॥੭੯॥
ਜੋ ਘੋੜੇ, ਹਾਥੀ, ਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਦਲ ਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੨॥੭੯॥
He was also given various types of forces, which was fourfold: on horses, on elephants, on chariots and on foot.2.79.
ਰਕਤਬੀਜਦੈਚਲਿਯੋਨਗਾਰਾ॥
ਰਕਤ-ਬੀਜ ਨਗਾਰਾ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਲਿਆ
ਦੇਵਲੋਗਲਉਸੁਨੀਪੁਕਾਰਾ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ) ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦੇਵ ਲੋਕ ਤਕ ਸੁਣੀ ਗਈ।
Rakat Beej marched after sounding his trumpet, which was heard even in the habitation of gods.
ਕੰਪੀਭੂਮਿਗਗਨਥਹਰਾਨਾ॥
ਧਰਤੀ ਕੰਬ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਥਰਕਣ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ।
ਦੇਵਨਜੁਤਿਦਿਵਰਾਜਡਰਾਨਾ॥੩॥੮੦॥
ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਇੰਦਰ ਵੀ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ॥੩॥੮੦॥
The earth ttrembled and the sky vibrated, all the godds including the king were filled with fear.3.80.
ਧਵਲਾਗਿਰਿਕੇਜਬਤਟਆਇ॥
ਜਦੋਂ (ਉਹ ਦੈਂਤ) ਕੈਲਾਸ਼ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਏ
ਦੁੰਦਭਿਢੋਲਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗਬਜਾਏ॥
(ਤਦੋਂ) ਧੌਂਸੇ, ਢੋਲ ਅਤੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਵਜਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
When they came near the Kailash mountain, they sounded trumpets, drums and tabours.
ਜਬਹੀਸੁਨਾਕੁਲਾਹਲਕਾਨਾ॥
ਜਿਉਂ ਹੀ (ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੌਲਾ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ (ਤਿਉਂ ਹੀ ਦੇਵੀ)
ਉਤਰੀਸਸਤ੍ਰਅਸਤ੍ਰਲੈਨਾਨਾ॥੪॥੮੧॥
ਅਨੇਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਪਰਬਤ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ) ਉਤਰੀ ॥੪॥੮੧॥
When the gods heard the noises with their ears, the goddess Durga descended the mountain, taking many weapons and arms.4.81.
ਛਹਬਰਲਾਇਬਰਖੀਯੰਬਾਣੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਬਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਹਿਬਰ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ
ਬਾਜਰਾਜਅਰੁਗਿਰੇਕਿਕਾਣੰ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਘੋੜ-ਸਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ।
The goddess showered arrows like incessant rain, which caused the horses and their riders fall down.
ਢਹਿਢਹਿਪਰੇਸੁਭਟਸਿਰਦਾਰਾ॥
ਚੰਗੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਨਿਕ-ਨਾਇਕ ਡਿਗਣ ਲਗ ਗਏ,
ਜਨੁਕਰਕਟੈਬਿਰਛਸੰਗਆਰਾ॥੫॥੮੨॥
ਮਾਨੋ (ਬਾਢੀਆਂ ਨੇ) ਆਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੫॥੮੨॥
Many warriors and their chieftainsfell, it seemed as if the trees had been sawed.5.82.
ਜੇਜੇਸਤ੍ਰਸਾਮੁਹੇਭਏ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵੈਰੀ (ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਏ,
ਬਹੁਰਜੀਅਤਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੇਨਹੀਗਏ॥
(ਉਹ) ਮੁੜ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਪਰਤੇ।
Those enemies ho came in front of her, they could not again return to their homes alive.
ਜਿਹਪਰਪਰਤਭਈਤਰਵਾਰਾ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ (ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀ) ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਇਕਿਇਕਿਤੇਭਏਦੋਦੋਚਾਰਾ॥੬॥੮੩॥
(ਉਹ) ਇਕ ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਦੋ ਦੋ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਦੋ ਤੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਚਾਰ (ਟੁਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਟੇ ਗਏ) ॥੬॥੮੩॥
Those who were struck by the sword, they fell down in two halves or four quarters.6.83.

ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਉਹ ਇੰਜ) ਚਮਕੀ
The sword which she has struck in ire
ਖਿਮੀਦਾਮਿਨੀਜਾਣਭਾਦੋਮਝਾਰੰ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਭਾਦੋਂ (ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ) ਵਿਚ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
It hath hlistened like lightning in the month of Bhadon.
ਉਦੇਨਦਨਾਦੰਕੜਕੇਕਮਾਣੰ॥
ਧੌਂਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਧੁਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਾਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੜਾਕ (ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼) ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
The jingling sound of bows appears like the sound of flowing stream.
ਮਚਿਯੋਲੋਹਕ੍ਰੋਹੰਅਭੂਤੰਭਯਾਣੰ॥੭॥੮੪॥
(ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪੂਰੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ-ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਮਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੭॥੮੪॥
And the steel-weapons have been struck in great anger, which appear unique and frightening.7.84.
ਬਜੇਭੇਰਿਭੇਰੀਜੁਝਾਰੇਝਣੰਕੇ॥
(ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਭੇਰ ਅਤੇ ਭੇਰੀਆਂ ਵਜ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵੀਰ-ਯੋਧੇ (ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਛਣਕਾਂ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The sound of drums rises in the battle and the warriors glisten their weapons.
