ਘਨਬੂੰਦਨਜਿਯੋਬਿਸਖੰਬਰਖੇ॥੧੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਦਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਲਗੇ ॥੧੬॥
And began to shoot arrows like the rain-drops.16.
ਜਨੁਘੋਰਕੈਸਿਆਮਘਟਾਘੁਮਡੀ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਘਨਘੋਰ ਕਾਲੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ
Like the roaring and advancing dark clouds,
ਅਸੁਰੇਸਅਨੀਕਨਿਤ੍ਯੋਉਮਿਡੀ॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਖਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੈਨਾਵਾਂ ('ਅਨੀਕਨਿ') ਉਮਡ ਪਈਆਂ।
The forces of the demon-king marched forward.
ਜਗਮਾਤਬਿਰੂਥਨਿਮੋਧਸਿਕੈ॥
ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ('ਬਿਰੂਥਨਿ') ਵਿਚ ਧਸ ਕੇ
The Mother of the world, penetrating into the armies of the enemy,
ਧਨੁਸਾਇਕਹਾਥਗਹਿਯੋਹਸਿਕੈ॥੧੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਹਸ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਧਨੁਸ਼-ਬਾਣ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੭॥
She caught hold of the bow and arrows smilingly.17.
ਰਣਕੁੰਜਰਪੁੰਜਗਿਰਾਇਦੀਏ॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ (ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ) ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਝੁੰਡ ('ਪੁੰਜ') ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ
She overthrew in the battlefield the herds of elephants,
ਇਕਖੰਡਅਖੰਡਦੁਖੰਡਕੀਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਖੰਡੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ-ਖੰਡ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And chopped into halves some of them.
ਸਿਰਏਕਨਿਚੋਟਨਿਫੋਟਬਹੀ॥
ਇਕਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ (ਅਜਿਹੀ) ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਸਟ ਵਜੀ
On the heads of some of them she struck such a mighty blow,
ਤਰਵਾਰਹੁਐਤਰਵਾਰਰਹੀ॥੧੮॥
ਕਿ ਤਲਵਾਰ (ਲਹੂ ਨਾਲ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੜੁਚ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੧੮॥
That the bodies were pierced from the heads to the foot-palm.
ਤਨਝਝਰਹੁਐਰਣਭੂਮਿਗਿਰੇ॥
(ਕਈਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਛਾਨਣੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਛੇਕ ਛੇਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ।
The decayed bodies fell in the battlefield
ਇਕਭਾਜਚਲੇਫਿਰਕੈਨਫਿਰੇ॥
ਕਈ (ਯੋਧੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਭਜ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੋੜਨ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਮੁੜੇ।
Some ran away and did not return
ਇਕਿਹਾਥਹਥਿਆਰਲੈਆਨਿਬਹੇ॥
ਕਈ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਵੜੇ
Some have caught hold of weapons and entered the battlefield
ਲਰਿਕੈਮਰਿਕੈਗਿਰਿਖੇਤਿਰਹੇ॥੧੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਲੜਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ ॥੧੯॥
And after fighting have died and fallen in the field.19.

ਤਹਾਸੁਦੈਤਰਾਜਯੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੈਂਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ (ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ)
ਸਜੇਸੋਸਰਬਸਾਜਯੰ॥
ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਜ ਸਜਾਇਆ
Then the demon-king gathered all the war-paraphernalis.
ਤੁਰੰਗਆਪਬਾਹੀਯੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਅਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ
ਬਧੰਸੁਮਾਤਚਾਹੀਯੰ॥੨੦॥
ਦੇਵੀ (ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਿਣੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ॥੨੦॥
He drove his horse forward and wanted to kill the Mother (goddess).20.
ਤਬੈਦ੍ਰੁਗਾਬਕਾਰਿਕੈ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਨੇ ਲਲਕਾਰਾ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ
ਕਮਾਣਬਾਣਧਾਰਿਕੈ॥
ਧਨੁਸ਼-ਬਾਣ (ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ) ਲੈ ਲਿਆ
Then the goddess Durga challenged him, taking up her bow and arrows
ਸੁਘਾਵਚਾਮਰੰਕੀਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਚਾਮਰ (ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਘਾਇਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਉਤਾਰਹਸਤਿਤੇਦੀਯੋ॥੨੧॥
ਤੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੧॥
She wounded (one of) the generals named Chamar and threw him down on the ground from his elephatnt.21
ਭੁਜੰਗਪ੍ਰਯਾਤਛੰਦ॥
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ:
BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA
ਤਬੈਬੀਰਕੋਪੰਬਿੜਾਲਾਛਨਾਮੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਬਿੜਾਲਾਛ ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੂਰਵੀਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ
Then the hero named Biralachh was filled with ire.
ਸਜੇਸਸਤ੍ਰਦੇਹੰਚਲੋਜੁਧਧਾਮੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਜਾ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਲ ਪਿਆ।
He bedecked himself with weapons and walked towards the battlefield.
ਸਿਰੰਸਿੰਘਕੇਆਨਿਘਾਯੰਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੰ॥
(ਦੈਂਤ ਨੇ) ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸਟ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਘਾਇਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
He struck his weapon on the head of the lion and wounded him,
ਬਲੀਸਿੰਘਸੋਹਾਥਸੋਮਾਰਿਡਾਰੰ॥੨੨॥
ਪਰ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜੇ (ਹੱਥ) ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੨॥
But the brave lion killed him with his hands.22.
ਬਿੜਾਲਾਛਮਾਰੇਸੁਪਿੰਗਾਛਧਾਏ॥
ਬਿੜਾਲਾਛ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਪਿੰਗਾਛ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੈਂਤ) ਭਜ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ।
When Biralachh was killed, Pinagachh ran forward
ਦ੍ਰੁਗਾਸਾਮੁਹੇਬੋਲਬਾਂਕੇਸੁਨਾਏ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਵਿਅੰਗ ਭਰੇ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣਾਏ
Going in front of Durga, he uttered some inronical words.
ਕਰੀਅਭ੍ਰਿਜ੍ਯੋਗਰਜਕੈਬਾਣਬਰਖੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਦਲ (ਅਭ੍ਰ) ਵਾਂਗ ਗਰਜ ਕੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
Roaring like a cloud, he showered a volley of arrows
ਮਹਾਸੂਰਬੀਰੰਭਰੇਜੁਧਹਰਖੰ॥੨੩॥
(ਉਹ) ਮਹਾਨ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੩॥
That great hero was filled with pleasure in the battlefield.23.
ਤਬੈਦੇਵੀਅੰਪਾਣਿਬਾਣੰਸੰਭਾਰੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਬਾਣ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਏ
Then the goddess caught hold of her bow and arrows.
ਹਨਿਯੋਦੁਸਟਕੇਘਾਇਸੀਸੰਮਝਾਰੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਘਾਇਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
She wounded the tyrant on his head with her shaft
ਗਿਰਿਯੋਝੂਮਿਭੂਮੰਗਏਪ੍ਰਾਣਛੁਟੰ॥
ਉਹ ਭੁਆਟਣੀ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਏ।
Who swayed, fell down of the goround and breathed his last.
ਮਨੋਮੇਰਕੋਸਾਤਵੌਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਟੁਟੰ॥੨੪॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ) ਮਾਨੋ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੀ ਸੱਤਵੀਂ ਚੋਟੀ ਟੁਟ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨੪॥
It seemed that the seventh peak of Sumeru mountain had fallen down.24.
ਗਿਰੈਬੀਰਪਿੰਗਾਛਦੇਬੀਸੰਘਾਰੇ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ) ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਪਿੰਗਾਛ (ਜਿਹੇ) ਯੋਧੇ ਡਿਗੇ,
When the warriors like Pingachh fell in the field,
ਚਲੇਅਉਰੁਬੀਰੰਹਥਿਆਰੰਉਘਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਯੋਧੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਉਲ੍ਹਾਰ ਕੇ (ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਲ) ਚਲ ਪਏ।
Other warriors holding their weapons marched forward.
ਤਬੈਰੋਸਿਦੇਬਿਯੰਸਰੋਘੰਚਲਾਏ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੀਰ (ਸਰ-ਓਘ) ਚਲਾਏ (ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ)
Then the goddess in great ire shot many arrows,
ਬਿਨਾਪ੍ਰਾਨਕੇਜੁਧਮਧੰਗਿਰਾਏ॥੨੫॥
ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਖਣਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੫॥
Which laid to rest many warriors in the battlefield.25.

ਜੇਜੇਸਤ੍ਰੁਸਾਮੁਹੇਆਏ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵੈਰੀ (ਦੈਂਤ) ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਏ,
ਸਬੈਦੇਵਤਾਮਾਰਿਗਿਰਾਏ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ।
The enemies who came before the goddess, they were all killed by her.
ਸੈਨਾਸਕਲਜਬੈਹਨਿਡਾਰੀ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੀ (ਵੈਰੀ) ਸੈਨਾ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ,
ਆਸੁਰੇਸਕੋਪਾਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ॥੨੬॥
(ਤਦੋਂ) ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਦੈਂਤ-ਰਾਜ ('ਆਸੁਰੇਸ') ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੬॥
When all the army was thus effaced, then the egoistic demon-king was filled with rage.26.
ਆਪਜੁਧਤਬਕੀਆਭਵਾਨੀ॥
ਤਦ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ
ਚੁਨਿਚੁਨਿਹਨੈਪਖਰੀਆਬਾਨੀ॥
ਅਤੇ ਚੁਣ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਵਚ-ਧਾਰੀਆਂ ('ਪਖਰੀਆ') ਨੂੰ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then the goddess Durga herself waged the war, and picked up and killed the warriors wearing armour.
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਜੁਆਲਮਸਤਕਤੇਬਿਗਸੀ॥
(ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ) ਮਸਤਕ ਤੋਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਈ,
ਤਾਤੇਆਪਕਾਲਿਕਾਨਿਕਸੀ॥੨੭॥
ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਆਪ ਕਾਲਕਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਨਿਕਲੀ ॥੨੭॥
The flame of ire manifested itself from her forehead, which appeared in the form of goddess kalka.27.
