(ਕਾਲਕਾ) ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਗਨੀ ਨਿਕਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
ਨਿਕਸੀਕਪਾਲਿ॥
(ਦੇਵੀ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਕਲੀ
The flames of fire come from her mouth and she herself came out from the forehead (of Durga).
ਮਾਰੇਗਜੇਸ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਛੁਟੇਹੈਏਸ॥੨੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ॥੨੮॥
She killed the great elephants and the warriors on horseback.28.
ਛੁਟੰਤਬਾਣ॥
(ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਬਾਣ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ,
ਝਮਕਤਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣ॥
ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The arrows are being shot and the swords are glistening.
ਸਾਂਗੰਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ॥
ਬਰਛਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ,
ਖੇਲਤਧਮਾਰ॥੨੯॥
(ਮਾਨੋ ਸੂਰਮੇ) ਧਮਾਲ (ਨਾਚ) ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੨੯॥
The daggers are being struck and it appears that the festival of Holi is being celebrated.29.
ਬਾਹੈਨਿਸੰਗ॥
(ਦੈਂਤ) ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ) ਚਲਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
ਉੱਠੇਝੜੰਗ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਜਣ ਨਾਲ) ਫੁਲਝੜੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
The weapons are being use unhesitatingly, which create clattering sounds.
ਤੁਪਕਤੜਾਕ॥
ਬੰਦੂਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੜ-ਤੜ ਦੀ (ਆਵਾਜ਼) ਲਿਕਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ

ਅਤੇ (ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਨਾਲ) ਕਾੜ-ਕਾੜ (ਦੀ ਧੁਨ) ਉਠ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥
The guns boom and produce roaring sounds. 30
ਬਰਕੰਤਮਾਇ॥
ਦੇਵੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਲਲਕਾਰਦੀ ਸੀ,
ਭਭਕੰਤਘਾਇ॥
ਜ਼ਖਮਾਂ (ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲਹੂ) ਬਘ-ਬਘ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
The Mother (goddess) challenges and the wounds bust.

ਸੂਰਮੇ ਲੜ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ,

ਤਦੋਂ ਦੈਂਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ
With increased anger, the demon-king sped forward.
ਸੰਗਲੈਚਤੁਰੰਗਸੈਨਾਸੁਧਸਸਤ੍ਰਨਚਾਇ॥
ਚਤੁਰੰਗਣੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਅਗੇ ਵਧਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸੈਨਿਕ) ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੰਮਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
He had four kinds of forces with him, who cause the dance of sharp weapons.
ਦੇਬਿਸਸਤ੍ਰਲਗੈਗਿਰੈਰਣਿਰੁਝਿਜੁਝਿਜੁਆਣ॥
(ਉਹ ਸੈਨਿਕ) ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਲਗਣ ਨਾਲ ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਜੂਝਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ ਸਨ।
Whosoever was struck by the weapons of the goddess, those fighting warriors fell in the field.
ਪੀਲਰਾਜਫਿਰੇਕਹੂੰਰਣਸੁਛਛੁਛਕਿਕਾਣ॥੩੨॥
ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਗਜ-ਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਘੋੜੇ (ਸਵਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ (ਛੂਛ) ਫਿਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੩੨॥
Somewhere the elephants and somewhere horses are roaming without riders in the battlefield.32.
ਚੀਰਚਾਮਰਪੁੰਜਕੁੰਜਰਬਾਜਰਾਜਅਨੇਕ॥
(ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ) ਬਸਤ੍ਰ, ਚੌਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਝੁੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਘੋੜੇ
Somewhere clothes, turbans and fly-whisks are lying scattered and somewhere elephants, horses and chieftains are lying dead.
ਸਸਤ੍ਰਅਸਤ੍ਰਸੁਭੇਕਹੂੰਸਰਦਾਰਸੁਆਰਅਨੇਕ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ-ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਜੇ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ (ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ)
Somewhere generals and warriors with weapons and aromuts are lying down.
ਤੇਗੁਤੀਰਤੁਫੰਗਤਬਰਕੁਹੁਕਬਾਨਅਨੰਤ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ, ਤੀਰ, ਬੰਦੂਕਾਂ, ਕੁਹਾੜੇ, (ਸੀਟੀ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਕਢਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਕੁਹੁਕ ਬਾਣ (ਖਿੰਡੇ) ਪਏ ਸਨ
Somewhere the sonund of arrows, swords, guns, axes and special shafts is being heard.
ਬੇਧਿਬੇਧਿਗਿਰੈਬਰਛਿਨਸੂਰਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ॥੩੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਬਰਛਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਡਿਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੩੩॥
Somewhere the heroes pierced by the daggers have fallen gracefully.33.
ਗ੍ਰਿਧਬ੍ਰਿਧਉਡੇਤਹਾਫਿਕਰੰਤਸੁਆਨਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਾਲ॥
ਉਥੇ (ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਵਡੀਆਂ ਵਡੀਆਂ ਗਿਧਾਂ ਉਡ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਗਿਦੜ ਬੋਲ ('ਫਿਕਰੰਤ') ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Large-sized vultures are flying there, the dogs are barking and the jackals are howling.
ਮਤਦੰਤਿਸਪਛਪਬੈਕੰਕਬੰਕਰਸਾਲ॥
(ਡਿਗੇ ਹੋਏ) ਮਸਤ ਹਾਥੀ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਬਤਾਂ (ਵਰਗੇ ਲਗਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠੇ) ਕਾਂ ਨੋਕੀਲੀ ਦਭ ('ਰਸਾਲ') (ਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ)।
The intoxicated elephants look like the winged mountains and the crows, flying down to eat the flesh.
ਛੁਦ੍ਰਮੀਨਛੁਰੁੱਧ੍ਰਕਾਅਰੁਚਰਮਕਛਪਅਨੰਤ॥
ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਛੁਰੀਆਂ ਨਿੱਕੀਆਂ ਮੱਛੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਢਾਲਾਂ ਕੱਛੂਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸਨ।
Thhe swords on the bodies of the demons appear like small fish and the shields look like tortoises.
ਨਕ੍ਰਬਕ੍ਰਸੁਬਰਮਸੋਭਿਤਸ੍ਰੋਣਨੀਰਦੁਰੰਤ॥੩੪॥
ਕਵਚ ('ਬਰਮ') ਭਿਆਨਕ ਮਗਰਮੱਛ ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਭ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਲਹੂ ਅਥਾਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਸੀ ॥੩੪॥
On their bodies, the steel-armour looks elegant and the blood is flowing down like flood.34.
ਨਵਸੂਰਨਵਕਾਸੇਰਥੀਅਤਿਰਥੀਜਾਨੁਜਹਾਜ॥
ਨਵੇਂ (ਨੌਜਵਾਨ) ਸੂਰਮੇ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਥੀ-ਮਹਾਰਥੀ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਸਨ,
The new young warriors appear like boats and thhe charioteers look like shimps.
ਲਾਦਿਲਾਦਿਮਨੋਚਲੇਧਨਧੀਰਬੀਰਸਲਾਜ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਧੀਰਜ ਦੇ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਲਦ ਲਦ ਕੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ।
All this appears as if the traders loading their commodities are coyly running out of the battlefield.
ਮੋਲੁਬੀਚਫਿਰੈਚੁਕਾਤਦਲਾਲਖੇਤਖਤੰਗ॥
ਯੁੱਧਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੀਰ ਦਲਾਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੁਲ ਚੁਕਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਘੁੰਮ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
The arrows of the battlefield are like the agents, who are busy in settling the account of the transaction.
ਗਾਹਿਗਾਹਿਫਿਰੇਫਵਜਨਿਝਾਰਿਦਿਰਬਨਿਖੰਗ॥੩੫॥
ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ (ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਤਰਕਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਤੀਰਾਂ-ਰੂਪੀ) ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਇਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਦੌੜੀਆਂ ਫਿਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸ ਨਾ ॥੩੫॥
The armies are fastly moving in the field for settlement and emptying their treasure of quivers.35.
ਅੰਗਭੰਗਗਿਰੇਕਹੂੰਬਹੁਰੰਗਰੰਗਿਤਬਸਤ੍ਰ॥
ਕਿਤੇ (ਸ਼ਰੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਕਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਅੰਗ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ, ਕਿਤੇ ਬਹੁਰੰਗੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ (ਪਏ ਸਨ)।
Some where multi-coloured garments and chopped limbs are lying.
ਚਰਮਬਰਮਸੁਭੰਕਹੂੰਰਣੰਸਸਤ੍ਰਰੁਅਸਤ੍ਰ॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਢਾਲ, ਕਵਚ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ-ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਏ ਸ਼ੋਭ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Somewhere there are shields and armours and somewhere there only weapons.
ਮੁੰਡਤੁੰਡਧੁਜਾਪਤਾਕਾਟੂਕਟਾਕਅਰੇਕ॥
ਕਿਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਮੂੰਹ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਝੰਡੇ-ਝੰਡੀਆਂ ਟੁਟ-ਫੁਟੇ ਵਖ ਵਖ ਹੋਏ (ਡਿਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ)।
Somewhere there are heads, flags and ensigns scattered here and there.
ਜੂਝਜੂਝਪਰੇਸਬੈਅਰਿਬਾਚਿਯੋਨਹੀਏਕ॥੩੬॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਲੜ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਬਚਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ॥੩੬॥
In the battlefield all the enemies have fallen down while fighting and none has been left alive.36.
ਕੋਪਕੈਮਹਿਖੇਸਦਾਨੋਧਾਈਯੋਤਿਹਕਾਲ॥
ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੇ ਧਾਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
Then in great ire, the demon Mahishasura marched forward.
ਅਸਤ੍ਰਸਸਤ੍ਰਸੰਭਾਰਸੂਰੋਰੂਪਕੈਬਿਕਰਾਲ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
He appeared in a frightful form and held up all his weapons and arms.
ਕਾਲਪਾਣਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣਲੈਤਿਹਮਾਰਿਯੋਤਤਕਾਲ॥
ਕਾਲੀ ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The goddess Kalka took her sword in her hand and killed him instantly.
ਜੋਤਿਜੋਤਿਬਿਖੈਮਿਲੀਤਜਬ੍ਰਹਮਰੰਧ੍ਰਿਉਤਾਲ॥੩੭॥
(ਦੈਂਤ ਦੀ) ਜੋਤਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਸਮ-ਦੁਆਰ ('ਬ੍ਰਹਮਰੰਧ੍ਰਿ') ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੩੭॥
His soul left Brahmrandhir (life-channel of Dasam Dyar) and merged in Divine Light.37.

After killing Mahishasura, the Mother of the world was greatly pleased.
ਤਾਦਿਨਤੇਮਹਿਖੇਬਲੈਦੇਤਜਗਤਸੁਖਪਾਇ॥੩੮॥
ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਈ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਝੋਟੇ ਦੀ ਬਲੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਲਗੀ ॥੩੮॥
And from that day the whole world gives the sacrifice of the animals for the attainment of peace.38.

All were delighted and felt comfortable.1.39.

The trumpents sounded and all the gods shouted.

They eulogise the godess and shower flowers on her. 2.40.

(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪੂਜਾ ਕੀਤੀ

ਅਤੇ ਯਸ਼-ਗਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
They worshipped the goddess in various ways and sang her poraises.
ਪਾਇਨਲਾਗੇ॥
(ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲਗੇ;
ਸਭਦੁਖਭਾਗੇ॥੩॥੪੧॥
(ਫਲਸਰੂਪ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੩॥੪੧॥
They have touhed her feet and all their sorrows have ended.3.41.
ਗਾਏਜੈਕਰਖਾ॥
ਜਿਤ ਦੇ ਛੰਦ (ਕਰਖਾ) ਗਾਉਣ ਲਗੇ
ਪੁਹਪਨਿਬਰਖਾ॥
ਅਤੇ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ।
They sang the songs of victory and showered flowers.
ਸੀਸਨਿਵਾਏ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਅਗੇ) ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਏ
ਸਭਸੁਖਪਾਏ॥੪॥੪੨॥
(ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਕੇ) ਸਭ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ ॥੪॥੪੨॥
They bowed their heads and obtained great comfort.4.42.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਲ ਅਤੇ ਥਲ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ।
They conquered many enemies in water and on land.
ਦੇਵਰਾਜਕੋਰਾਜਛਿਨਾਵਾ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਖੋਹ ਲਿਆ
