ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Tying it with a rope, she hung it inside the stream.
ਬਾਧਿਤੂੰਬਰੀਤਾਪਰਲੀਨੀ॥
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਇਕ ਤੂੰਬੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
ਜਾਤੇਜਾਇਦੇਗਸੋਚੀਨੀ॥੧੫॥
ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੇਗ ਪਛਾਣੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ ॥੧੫॥
She tied a gourd-shell on top so that it could be recognised.(15)
ਤਬਲੌਰਾਵਤਹਾਗਯੋਆਈ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਥੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਉਠਿਰਾਨੀਅਤਿਕਰੀਬਡਾਈ॥
ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ।
When Raja arrived there, she welcomed him with lot of praises.
ਜੌਤੁਮਭੂਪਅਚੂਕਕਹਾਵੋ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਚੂਕ (ਨਿਸ਼ਾਣਾ ਨਾ ਖੁੰਝਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਰਾਜਾ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ,
ਯਾਤੁਮਰੀਕਹਬਿਸਿਖਲਗਾਵੋ॥੧੬॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਇਸ ਤੂੰਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰੋ ॥੧੬॥
She asked, ‘If you are a good shot, then you hit that gourd-shell.’(16)
ਤਬਰਾਜਾਤਿਹਤੀਰਲਗਾਯੋ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਉਥੇ ਇਕ ਤੀਰ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
ਭਦਰਭਵਾਨੀਅਤਿਡਰਪਾਯੋ॥
ਭਦ੍ਰ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ।
Raja shot an arrow, which dreaded the sage.
ਮੋਕਹਆਜੁਰਾਵਯਹਲੈਹਿਹੈ॥
ਅਜ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਏਗਾ।
ਜਾਨੋਕਹਾਕੋਪਕਰਿਕਹਿਹੈ॥੧੭॥
ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੀ ਕਹੇਗਾ ॥੧੭॥
He thought if Raja discovered him, what would he do to him?(17)

ਤਬਰਾਜਾਹਰਖਤਭਯੋਤੁਮਰੀਤੀਰਲਗਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੂੰਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋਇਆ।
Raja felt very contended by hitting the gourd-shell,
ਧੰਨ੍ਯਧੰਨ੍ਯਰਾਨੀਕਹਿਯੋਮੁਖਤੇਮੋਦਬਢਾਇ॥੧੮॥
ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ 'ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ' ਕਿਹਾ ॥੧੮॥
And Rani applauded excessively that he was superb.(18)
ਤਬਰਾਜਾਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੋਗਯੋਸਕਿਯੋਭੇਦਨਹਿਚੀਨ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਹੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਪਾ ਸਕਿਆ।
Raja left for his abode without acquiescing the secret.
ਇਹਛਲੈਸੋਛੈਲੀਛਲ੍ਯੋਰਾਨੀਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ॥੧੯॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਛਲ ਨਾਲ ਛਲ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੯॥
The percc;dve Rani had won him with such a trickery.(19)
ਪ੍ਰਥਮਭੋਗਤਾਸੋਕਰਿਯੋਬਹੁਰਿਦੇਗਮੈਡਾਰਿ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
First she had revelled with him sexually and then put him in thecauldron.
ਪੁਨਿਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਰਥਕੋਛਰਿਯੋਐਸੋਚਰਿਤਸੁਧਾਰਿ॥੨੦॥
ਫਿਰ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਛਲ ਲਿਆ ॥੨੦॥
And then with chicanery, deluded Bachiter Rath.(20)

ਪ੍ਰਥਮਤੀਰਤੁਮਰਹਿਲਗਵਾਯੋ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੂੰਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰ ਮਰਵਾਇਆ।
ਬਹੁਰਿਭਵਾਨੀਭਦ੍ਰਡਰਾਇਯੋ॥
ਫਿਰ ਭਦ੍ਰ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਇਆ।
First, she got the gourd-shell hit and dreaded Bhawani Bhadar.
ਬਹੁਰਿਦੇਗਤੇਕਾਢਿਮੰਗਾਯੋ॥
ਮਗਰੋਂ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਦੇਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਮੰਗਵਾਇਆ।
ਪੁਨਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਤਾਸੌਕੇਲਕਮਾਯੋ॥੨੧॥
ਫਿਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੨੧॥
She saved him ihrough a cauldron and then gratified by makinglove.(21)

ਇਹਛਲਸੌਛਲਿਰਾਵਕੋਤਾਸੋਕੇਲਕਮਾਇ॥
ਇਸ ਛਲ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਛਲ ਕੇ, ਭਦ੍ਰ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਤੀ-ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕੀਤੀ
Through such an Chritar she duped Raja and had fun with him,
ਬਹੁਰਿਭਵਾਨੀਭਦ੍ਰਕੌਦੀਨੋਧਾਮਪਠਾਇ॥੨੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੨॥
And, thereafter, sent Bhawani Bhadar to his hermitage.(22)(1)

ਮੱਛਲੀ ਬੰਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਦ੍ਰੁਪਦ ਦੇਵ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ (ਰਾਜਾ) ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
At the pier of Machli Bandar, an auspicious person, Drupad Dev usedto live.
ਸੂਰਬੀਰਜਾਕੇਸਦਾਰਹੈਚਰਨਸੋਲਾਗ॥੧॥
ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ ॥੧॥
Many intrepid visited him and fell on his feet for blessings.(1)

ਤਿਨਿਕਜਗ੍ਯਕੋਬ੍ਯੋਤਬਨਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਯੱਗ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ।
ਸਭਬਿਪ੍ਰਨਕੌਧਾਮਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।
He planned a ritUalistic feast and invited all the Brahmin priests.
ਖਾਨਪਾਨਤਿਨਕੋਬਹੁਦੀਨੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਤਿਨਕੇਮੋਹਿਚਿਤਕੋਲੀਨੋ॥੨॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
He served the dainty meals and earned their benediction.(2)

ਤੌਨਅਨਲਕੀਆਂਚਤੇਨਿਕਸੀਸੁਤਾਅਪਾਰ॥
ਉਸ (ਯੱਗ ਦੀ) ਅਗਨੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਨਿਕਲੀ।
From the ceremonial-fire a girl was manifested.
ਨਾਮਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀਤਵਨਕੋਬਿਪ੍ਰਨਧਰਿਯੋਬਿਚਾਰ॥੩॥
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਰਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
After contemplation the Brahmins named her Daropdee.(3)
ਤਾਪਾਛੇਬਿਧਨੈਦਯੋਧ੍ਰਿਸਟਦੁਮਨਸੁਤਏਕ॥
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਵਿਧਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਧ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਦੁਮਨ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
There after, the All Pervader endowed them one son called Dusht
ਦ੍ਰੋਣਚਾਰਜਕੇਛੈਨਿਮਿਤਜੀਤਨਜੁਧਅਨੇਕ॥੪॥
ਦ੍ਰੋਣਾਚਾਰਯ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਜਿਤਣ ਲਈ ॥੪॥
Daman (the enemy annihilator).(4)

ਜਦ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਨਿਜਜਿਯਮੈਅਸਠਾਟਠਟਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਸੋਚੀ।
When Daropdee came of the age, she thought in her mind,
ਐਸੋਕਛੂਸੁਯੰਬਰਕਰੌ॥
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਅੰਬਰ ਕਰਾਂ
ਜਾਤੇਸੂਰਬੀਰਪਤਿਬਰੌ॥੫॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ॥੫॥
I should have a swayamber (to choose my husband) and he must bea valiant person.(5)

ਏਕਮਛਕੋਊਪਰਬਧ੍ਯੋਬਨਾਇਕੈ॥
ਇਕ ਮੱਛ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਰ ਵਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
‘A fish will be hung on top of bamboo stick.
ਤੇਲਡਾਰਿਤਰਦਿਯੋਕਰਾਹਚੜਾਇਕੈ॥
ਹੇਠਾਂ ਤੇਲ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਕੜਾਹ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
‘Underneath there, an open cauldron with oil in it, will be placed.
