BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA
भुजंग प्रयात छंद ॥
ਤਬੈਕੋਪਗਰਜਿਯੋਬਲੀਸੰਖਬੀਰੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਸੰਖ (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸੂਰਵੀਰ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਗਜਿਆ।
तबै कोप गरजियो बली संख बीरं ॥
ਧਰੇਸਸਤ੍ਰਅਸਤ੍ਰੰਸਜੇਲੋਹਚੀਰੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ-ਅਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਹੇ ਦੇ ਕਵਚ ਨਾਲ ਸਜਾਇਆ।
Then in great anger, the mighty Shankhasura thundered and wore his armour bedecking himself with weapons and arms
धरे ससत्र असत्रं सजे लोह चीरं ॥
ਚਤੁਰਬੇਦਪਾਤੰਕੀਯੋਸਿੰਧਮੱਧੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਚੌਹਾਂ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡਬੋ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
चतुर बेद पातं कीयो सिंध मद्धं ॥
ਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯੋਅਸਟਨੈਣੰਕਰਿਯੋਜਾਪੁਸੁਧੰ॥੪੧॥
(ਇਸੇ ਲਈ) ਅੱਠਾਂ ਨੈਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ (ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ) ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ-ਸਰੂਪ (ਪਰਮ-ਸੱਤਾ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੪੧॥
He threw the fore Vedas in the ocean, which frightened the eitht-eyed Brahma and caused him to remember the Lord.41.
त्रस्यो असट नैणं करियो जापु सुधं ॥४१॥
ਤਬੈਸੰਭਰੇਦੀਨਹੇਤੰਦਿਆਲੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੂ (ਅਵਤਾਰ) ਨੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰਖਿਆ
तबै संभरे दीन हेतं दिआलं ॥
ਧਰੇਲੋਹਕ੍ਰੋਹੰਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਕੈਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੂ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
Then the Lord, the well-wisher of both (the Vedas as well as Brahma) ws filled with kindness and highly enraged, He wore His steel-armour.
धरे लोह क्रोहं क्रिपा कै क्रिपालं ॥
ਮਹਾਂਅਸਤੁ੍ਰਪਾਤੰਕਰੇਸਸਤ੍ਰਘਾਤੰ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਲਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਲਗੇ।
महां असतु्र पातं करे ससत्र घातं ॥
ਟਰੇਦੇਵਸਰਬੰਗਿਰੇਲੋਕਸਾਤੰ॥੪੨॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਹਿਲ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤੇ ਲੋਕ (ਮੂਰਛਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਡਿਗ ਪਏ ॥੪੨॥
The bows of weapons were struck alongwith arms causing destruction. All the gods in groups moved away from their seats and the seven worlds trembled because of this horrible war.42.
टरे देव सरबं गिरे लोक सातं ॥४२॥
ਭਏਅਤ੍ਰੁਘਾਤੰਗਿਰੇਚਉਰਚੀਰੰ॥
ਅਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਲਗ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਚੌਰ ਡਿਗ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ,
भए अत्रु घातं गिरे चउर चीरं ॥
ਰੁਲੇਤੱਛਮੁੱਛੰਉਠੇਤਿੱਛਤੀਰੰ॥
(ਸੂਰਮੇ) ਕਟੇ ਵਢੇ ਰੁਲ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਫੰਡੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਠ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
With the blows of arms, the fly-whisks and the garments behan to fall and with the volley of arrows, the chopped bodies began to fall on the ground.
रुले तच्छ मुच्छं उठे तिच्छ तीरं ॥
ਗਿਰੇਸੁੰਡਮੁੰਡੰਰਣੰਭੀਮਰੂਪੰ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਰਣਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਕਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ (ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਡ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ,
The chopped trunks and heads of huge elephants began to fall
गिरे सुंड मुंडं रणं भीम रूपं ॥
ਮਨੋਖੇਲਪਉਢੇਹਠੀਫਾਗਜੂਪੰ॥੪੩॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਹਠੀਲੇ (ਵੀਰ) ਹੋਲੀ ਖੇਡ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੪੩॥
It appeared that the group of persistent youths was playing Holi.43.
मनो खेल पउढे हठी फाग जूपं ॥४३॥
ਬਹੇਖੱਗਯੰਖੇਤਖਿੰਗੰਸੁਧੀਰੰ॥
ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਧੀਰਜਵਾਨ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਚਲਣ ਲਗੀਆਂ ਸਨ
The sword and daggers of the warriors with the power of endurance have been struck
बहे खगयं खेत खिंगं सु धीरं ॥
ਸੁਭੈਸਸਤ੍ਰਸੰਜਾਨਸੋਸੂਰਬੀਰੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਵੀਰ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਵਚਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਸਨ।
And the brave fighters are bedecked with weapons and armours.
सुभै ससत्र संजान सो सूरबीरं ॥
ਗਿਰੇਗਉਰਗਾਜੀਖੁਲੇਹੱਥਿਬੱਥੰ॥
ਵੱਡੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ।
The mighty heroes have fallen down with empty hands and seeing all this spectacle,
गिरे गउर गाजी खुले हथि बथं ॥
ਨਚਿਯੋਰੁਦ੍ਰਰੁਦ੍ਰੰਨਚੇਮੱਛਮੱਥੰ॥੪੪॥
ਰੂਦਰ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਲ ਨਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਛ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਚ ਨਚ ਕੇ ਮੱਥ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ॥੪੪॥
The god Shiva is busy in another dance and on the other side, the Machh incarnation, being pleased, is stirring the ocean.44.
नचियो रुद्र रुद्रं नचे मच्छ मथं ॥४४॥

ਰਸਾਵਲ ਛੰਦ:
RASAAVAL STANZA
रसावल छंद ॥
ਮਹਾਬੀਰਗੱਜੇ॥
ਮਹਾਵੀਰ (ਯੋਧੇ) ਗਜ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
Bedecked with auspicious weapons,
महा बीर गजे ॥
ਸਭੰਸਸਤ੍ਰਸੱਜੇ॥
(ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ) ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਸਜਿਤ ਸਨ।
The brave fighters are thundering and seeing the killing of huge and mighty warriors like elephants,
सभं ससत्र सजे ॥
ਬੱਧੇਗੱਜਗਾਹੰ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਕਲਗ਼ੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਭੂਸ਼ਣ ਸਜਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ
The heavenly damsels, being passed with their feats,
बद्धे गजगाहं ॥
ਸੁਹੂਰੰਉਛਾਹੰ॥੪੫॥
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਹੂਰਾਂ ਉਤਸਾਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ॥੪੫॥
Are waiting in heaven, in order to wed them.45.
सु हूरं उछाहं ॥४५॥
ਢਲਾਢੁੱਕਢਾਲੰ॥
ਢਾਲਾਂ (ਦੇ ਵਜਣ ਨਾਲ) ਢਕ-ਢਕ ਦੀ (ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ)
The noises of the knocking on the shields and
ढला ढुक ढालं ॥
ਝਮੀਤੇਗਕਾਲੰ॥
ਕਾਲੇ ਬਦਲਾਂ (ਵਿਚ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਵਾਂਗ) ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
The blows of the swords are being heard,
झमी तेग कालं ॥
ਕਟਾਕਾਟਬਾਹੈਂ॥
(ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ) ਕਟ-ਕਟ (ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ) ਚਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
The daggers are being struck with clattering sound,
कटा काट बाहैं ॥
ਉਭੈਜੀਤਚਾਹੈਂ॥੪੬॥
ਦੋਵੇਂ (ਪਾਸੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿਤ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੪੬॥
And both the side are desirous of their victory.46.
उभै जीत चाहैं ॥४६॥
ਮੁਖੰਮੁੱਛਬੰਕੀ॥
(ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਕੁੰਡਲੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਛਾਂ
मुखं मुच्छ बंकी ॥
ਤਮੰਤੇਗਅਤੰਕੀ॥
(ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਭਿਆਨਕ ਚਮਕਦੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ (ਸੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਸਨ)।
The whickers on the faces and terrible swords in the hands of the warriors look impressive,
तमं तेग अतंकी ॥
ਫਿਰੈਂਗਉਰਗਾਜੀ॥
(ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਤਕੜੇ ਤਕੜੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਗਾਜ਼ੀ) ਘੁੰਮ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ
फिरैं गउर गाजी ॥
ਨਚੈਂਤੁੰਦਤਾਜੀ॥੪੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਚਾਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨਚ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੪੭॥
The mighty warriors are wandering in the battlefield and supremely swift horses are dancing.47.
नचैं तुंद ताजी ॥४७॥

भुजंग छंद ॥
ਭਰਯੋਰੋਸਸੰਖਾਸੁਰੰਦੇਖਸੈਣੰ॥
(ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਸੈਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੰਖਾਸੁਰ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ
On seeing the army, Shankhasura was highly enraged,
भरयो रोस संखासुरं देख सैणं ॥
ਤਪੇਬੀਰਬਕਤ੍ਰੰਕੀਏਰਕਤਨੈਣੰ॥
ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ) ਸੂਰਵੀਰ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਤਪ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਲਾਲ ਕਰ ਲਈਆਂ।
Other heroes also blazing with anger began to shout loudly, with their eyes reddened with blood.
तपे बीर बकत्रं कीए रकत नैणं ॥
ਭੁਜਾਠੋਕਭੂਪੰਕਰਯੋਨਾਦਉੱਚੰ॥
(ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ) ਰਾਜੇ (ਸੰਖਾਸੁਰ) ਨੇ ਭੁਜਾਵਾਂ ਠੋਕ ਕੇ ਲਲਕਾਰਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ
The king Shankhasura, knocking his arms, raised a terrible thunder and
भुजा ठोक भूपं करयो नाद उचं ॥
ਸੁਣੇਗਰਭਣੀਆਨਕੇਗਰਭਮੁੱਚੰ॥੪੮॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਗਰਭਵਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਗਰਭ ਡਿਗ ਗਏ ॥੪੮॥
Hearing his frightening sound, the pregnancy of women was miscarried.48.
सुणे गरभणीआन के गरभ मुचं ॥४८॥
ਲਗੇਠਾਮਠਾਮੰਦਮਾਮੰਦਮੰਕੇ॥
(ਸਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਥਾਨ ਉਤੇ ਡਟ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਵਜਣ ਲਗੇ।
All resisted at their place and the trumpets began to resound violently,
लगे ठाम ठामं दमामं दमंके ॥
ਖੁਲੇਖੇਤਮੋਖੱਗਖੂਨੀਖਿਮੰਕੇ॥
ਮੈਦਾਨੇ-ਜੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਲਹੂ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਾਂ ਚਮਕਣ ਲਗੀਆਂ।
He bloody daggers coming out (from) the scabbards) glistened in the battlefield.
खुले खेत मो खग खूनी खिमंके ॥
ਭਏਕ੍ਰੂਰਭਾਂਤੰਕਮਾਣੰਕੜੱਕੇ॥
(ਯੋਧੇ) ਭਿਆਨਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਾਨਾਂ ਕੜਕਣ ਲਗੀਆਂ।
The voice of the cracking of the cruel bows were heard and
भए क्रूर भांतं कमाणं कड़के ॥
ਨਚੇਬੀਰਬੈਤਾਲਭੂਤੰਭੁੜੱਕੇ॥੪੯॥
ਭੂਤ, ਪ੍ਰੇਤ, ਬੀਰ, ਬੈਤਾਲ ਭੁੜਕ ਕੇ ਨਚਣ ਲਗੇ ॥੪੯॥
The ghosts and goblins began to dance furiously.49.
नचे बीर बैताल भूतं भुड़के ॥४९॥
ਗਿਰਯੋਆਯੁਧੰਸਾਯੁਧੰਬੀਰਖੇਤੰ॥
(ਕਈ) ਵੀਰ ਯੋਧੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗਣ ਲਗ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
The warriors began to fall in the battlefield alongwith their weapons, and
गिरयो आयुधं सायुधं बीर खेतं ॥
ਨਚੇਕੰਧਹੀਣੰਕਮੱਧੰਅਚੇਤੰ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਕੰਧ (ਗਰਦਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਧੜ ਅਚੇਤ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਨਚ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
The headless trunks began to dance unconsciously in the war.
नचे कंध हीणं कमद्धं अचेतं ॥
ਖੁਲੇਖੱਗਖੂਨੀਖਿਆਲੰਖਤੰਗੰ॥
ਖੂਨੀ ਨੰਗੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਾਇਰ ਭਜੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ
The bloody daggers and sharp arrow were struck,
खुले खग खूनी खिआलं खतंगं ॥
ਭਜੇਕਾਤਰੰਸੂਰਬੱਜੇਨਿਹੰਗੰ॥੫੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੫੦॥
The trumpets began to resound violently and the warriors began to run hither and thither.50.
भजे कातरं सूर बजे निहंगं ॥५०॥
ਕਟੇਚਰਮਬਰਮੰਗਿਰਿਯੋਸਤ੍ਰੁਸਸਤ੍ਰੰ॥
(ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕਵਚ ('ਬਰਮੰ') ਅਤੇ ਢਾਲਾਂ ਕਟ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਡਿਗ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
कटे चरम बरमं गिरियो सत्रु ससत्रं ॥
ਭਕੈਭੈਭਰੇਭੂਤਭੂਮੰਨ੍ਰਿਸਤ੍ਰੰ॥
ਭੈ-ਭੀਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭੂਤ ਨਿਹੱਥੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੋਲ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
भकै भै भरे भूत भूमं न्रिसत्रं ॥
ਰਣੰਰੰਗਰੱਤੇਸਭੀਰੰਗਭੂਮੰ॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ (ਸੂਰਵੀਰ) ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ
रणं रंग रते सभी रंग भूमं ॥
ਗਿਰੇਜੁੱਧਮੱਧੰਬਲੀਝੂਮਝੂਮੰ॥੫੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਲਵਾਨ (ਯੋਧੇ) ਝੂਮ ਝੂਮ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੫੧॥
All were dyed in the dye of war and the mighty warriors began to fall in the battlefield swinging and reeling.51
गिरे जुद्ध मद्धं बली झूम झूमं ॥५१॥
ਭਯੋਦੁੰਦਜੁੱਧੰਰਣੰਸੰਖਮੱਛੰ॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਖਾਸੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਛ ਦਾ ਦੁਅੰਦ ਯੂੱਧ ਹੋਣ ਲਗਿਆ
भयो दुंद जुद्धं रणं संख मच्छं ॥
