ਸਾਰਸਨਾਜਲਿਜਾਉਜਿਨਿਹਰਿਕਾਸੁਆਉਨਪਾਇਆ॥
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਭ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਜੀਭ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਜੀਭ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ)।
Let that tongue, which has not tasted the Name of the Lord, be burnt.
सा रसना जलि जाउ जिनि हरि का सुआउ न पाइआ ॥
ਨਾਨਕਰਸਨਾਸਬਦਿਰਸਾਇਜਿਨਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਮੰਨਿਵਸਾਇਆ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਜੀਭ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰਸ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ (ਜੀਭ) ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
O Nanak, one whose mind is filled with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har - his tongue savors the Word of the Shabad. ||1||
