ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਾਮੁਸਦਾਸੁਖਦਾਤਾਅੰਤੇਹੋਇਸਖਾਈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ('ਨਾਮ' ਹੀ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is forever the Giver of peace. It shall be your Help and Support in the end.
अंम्रित नामु सदा सुखदाता अंते होइ सखाई ॥
ਬਾਝੁਗੁਰੂਜਗਤੁਬਉਰਾਨਾਨਾਵੈਸਾਰਨਪਾਈ॥
ਪਰ ਜਗਤ, ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਮਲਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
Without the Guru, the world is insane. It does not appreciate the worth of the Name.
बाझु गुरू जगतु बउराना नावै सार न पाई ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਹਿਸੇਪਰਵਾਣੁਜਿਨੑਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲਾਈ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ।
Those who serve the True Guru are accepted and approved. Their light merges into the Light.
सतिगुरु सेवहि से परवाणु जिन जोती जोति मिलाई ॥
ਸੋਸਾਹਿਬੁਸੋਸੇਵਕੁਤੇਹਾਜਿਸੁਭਾਣਾਮੰਨਿਵਸਾਈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ (ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰ) ਮਨਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੈਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ।
That servant who enshrines the Lord's Will within his mind, becomes just like his Lord and Master.
सो साहिबु सो सेवकु तेहा जिसु भाणा मंनि वसाई ॥
ਆਪਣੈਭਾਣੈਕਹੁਕਿਨਿਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਆਅੰਧਾਅੰਧੁਕਮਾਈ॥
ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ, ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
Tell me, who has ever found peace by following his own will? The blind act in blindness.
आपणै भाणै कहु किनि सुखु पाइआ अंधा अंधु कमाई ॥
ਬਿਖਿਆਕਦੇਹੀਰਜੈਨਾਹੀਮੂਰਖਭੁਖਨਜਾਈ॥
ਮੂਰਖ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਰੱਜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
No one is ever satisfied and fulfilled by evil and corruption. The hunger of the fool is not satisfied.
बिखिआ कदे ही रजै नाही मूरख भुख न जाई ॥
ਦੂਜੈਸਭੁਕੋਲਗਿਵਿਗੁਤਾਬਿਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਬੂਝਨਪਾਈ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ (ਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਖ਼ੁਆਰੀ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ)।
Attached to duality, all are ruined; without the True Guru, there is no understanding.
दूजै सभु को लगि विगुता बिनु सतिगुर बूझ न पाई ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵੇਸੋਸੁਖੁਪਾਏਜਿਸਨੋਕਿਰਪਾਕਰੇਰਜਾਈ॥੨੦॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੦॥
Those who serve the True Guru find peace; they are blessed with Grace by the Will of the Lord. ||20||
सतिगुरु सेवे सो सुखु पाए जिस नो किरपा करे रजाई ॥२०॥
