ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਘ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
And she felt like a raindrop, which submerges in the sea.(14)
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਲਾਲਕੀਉਰਬਸੀਬਿਸਰੀਸਕਲਸਿਯਾਨ॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਵਿਸਰ ਗਈ।
The lover’s love penetrated her heart so much that she lost all her
ਗਿਰੀਮੂਰਛਨਾਹ੍ਵੈਧਰਨਿਬਿਧੀਬਿਰਹਕੇਬਾਨ॥੧੫॥
ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਣ ਦੀ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਮੂਰਛਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਈ ॥੧੫॥
wisdom becoming unconscious, fell flat on the ground.(15)

(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਹੂ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਭੁਲ ਗਈ।
She felt no blood was left in her body, and the shame had flown away.
ਅਬਲਾਭਈਅਧੀਰਅਮਿਤਰੂਪਪਿਯਕੋਨਿਰਖਿ॥੧੬॥
(ਉਹ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦਾ ਅਪਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਅਧੀਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੧੬॥
The woman fascinated with the lover’s glimpse became impatient.(16)

She thought, the day she achieved her lover, she would feel sanctified.
ਤੌਨਘਰੀਉਪਰਬਲਿਜੈਯੈ॥
ਉਸ ਘੜੀ ਉਤੇ (ਮੈਂ) ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੀ।
ਬਿਰਹੁਬਧੀਚੇਰੀਤਿਹਭਈ॥
ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੀ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਗਈ
To save the alienation, she decided o accepted his enslavement
ਬਿਸਰਿਲਾਜਲੋਗਨਕੀਗਈ॥੧੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਵਿਸਰ ਗਈ ॥੧੭॥
without the care of the people’s talk.(17)

ਬੂਬਨਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਵਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਗਈ।
On seeing him, Boobna had felt entrapped in the wake of his
ਭੂਖਿਪ੍ਯਾਸਭਾਜੀਸਕਲਬਿਨੁਦਾਮਨੁਕੀਦਾਸ॥੧੮॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਬਣ ਗਈ ॥੧੮॥
separation. Remaining hungry and thirsty, without any monetary gains, she decided to become his serf.(18)
ਬਤਿਸਅਭਰਨਤ੍ਰਿਯਕਰੈਸੋਰਹਸਜਤਸਿੰਗਾਰ॥
(ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ੩੨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਪਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕੀਤੇ।
She adorned thirty-two types of ornaments and embellished herself.
ਨਾਕਛਿਦਾਵਤਆਪਨੋਪਿਯਕੇਹੇਤੁਪਿਯਾਰ॥੧੯॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਕ ਵੀ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਵਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੯॥
For sake of the love for her lover she, even, got her nose pierced.(l9)
ਤੀਯਪਿਯਾਕੇਚਿਤਮੈਐਸੋਲਾਗਿਯੋਨੇਹ॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨੇਹੋਂ ਲਗਿਆ
The urge for the meeting with lover sprung up so much,
ਭੂਖਲਾਜਤਨਕੀਗਈਦੁਹੁਅਨਬਿਸਰਿਯੋਗ੍ਰੇਹ॥੨੦॥
ਕਿ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਬਾਰ ਭੁਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭੁਖ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਵੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੨੦॥
That she lost the awareness of her body and the surroundings.(20)

ਬੀਨਸਕੈਬਿਗਸੈਨਹਿਕਾਹੂਸੌਲੋਕਕੀਲਾਜਬਿਦਾਕਰਿਰਾਖੇ॥
ਨ ਉਹ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਹਸ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ (ਗੱਲ ਕਰ) ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਲਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
(Such lover) are not satiated and they do not care about people’s talk.
ਬੀਰੀਚਬਾਤਨਬੈਠਿਸਕੈਬਿਲਮੈਨਹਿਬਾਲਹਹਾਕਰਿਭਾਖੈ॥
ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਪਾਨ ਦਾ ਬੀੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਬਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਬਸ 'ਹਾ-ਹਾ' ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
They are unable to chew the beetle-nuts (to show their adulthood), and they just while-away laughing like the children.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰਕੋਰਾਜਸਮਾਜਨਸੋਸੁਖਛਾਡਿਛਿਨੇਕਬਿਖੈਦੁਖਗਾਖੈ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ-ਸਮਾਜ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੁਖ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਛਿਣ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
They abandon the god Indra’s bliss to gain this momentary pain of love.
ਤੀਰਲਗੋਤਰਵਾਰਿਲਗੋਨਲਗੋਜਿਨਿਕਾਹੂਸੌਕਾਹੂਕੀਆਖੈਂ॥੨੧॥
ਤੀਰ ਲਗ ਜਾਏ ਜਾਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲਗ ਜਾਏ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਖ ਨਾ ਲਗੇ ॥੨੧॥
One may be hit by an arrow or cut with a sword, but may he not fall in love like this.(2l)

ਬੂਬਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਿਹਬਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਪਲਸੇਟੇ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ
When Boobna’s mother saw Boobna falling flat on the ground,
ਚਤੁਰਿਹੁਤੀਚੀਨਤਭਈਪਿਯਬਿਰਹਕੀਪੀਰਿ॥੨੨॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੂਝਵਾਨ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸਮਝ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਨੇ (ਦੁਖੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨੨॥
She was wise and she immediately understood her pain of love.(22)

ਯਾਕੀਲਗਨਿਕਿਸੂਸੋਲਾਗੀ॥
ਇਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਤੇਭੂਖਿਪ੍ਯਾਸਸਭਭਾਗੀ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
(She thought,) ‘She has fallen in love with some body, that is why she has lost her appetite.
ਤਾਤੇਬੇਗਿਉਪਾਯਹਿਕਰਿਯੈ॥
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ
ਜਾਤੇਸਗਰੋਸੋਕਨਿਵਰਿਯੈ॥੨੩॥
ਤਾਂ ਜੋ (ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ॥੨੩॥
‘Some remedy must be found through which all her afflictions are eliminated.’(23)
ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਮੰਤ੍ਰਇਹਭਾਤਿਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ
ਨਿਜਪਤਿਸੋਇਹਭਾਤਿਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਜ ਕਿਹਾ
Contemplating thus, she asked her husband,
ਸੁਤਾਤਰੁਨਿਤੁਮਰੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਭਈ॥
ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਲੜਕੀ ਜੁਆਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਕੀਕਰਨਸਗਾਈਲਈ॥੨੪॥
ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਕਰ ਲੈਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨੪॥
‘Your daughter has come of the age, she should be betrothed now.(24)
ਯਾਕੋਅਧਿਕਸੁਯੰਬਰਕੈਹੈ॥
ਇਸ ਦਾ (ਅਸੀਂ) ਵੱਡਾ ਸੁਅੰਬਰ ਕਰੀਏ
ਬਡੇਬਡੇਰਾਜਾਨਬੁਲੈਹੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਈਏ।
‘We will arrange a huge savayambar (ceremony for the selection of her own husband) and invite big princes.
ਦੁਹਿਤਾਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਸਭਨਪਰਕਰਿਹੈ॥
(ਤੁਹਾਡੀ) ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਏਗੀ
ਜੋਚਿਤਰੁਚੇਤਿਸੀਕਹਬਰਿਹੈ॥੨੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਚਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗੇਗਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਲਵੇਗੀ ॥੨੫॥
‘Our daughter will look at them and whom-so-ever she picked, she will be married to.’(25)
ਭਯੋਪ੍ਰਾਤਯਹਬ੍ਯੋਤਬਨਾਯੋ॥
ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਇਹ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਈ
ਪੁਰਬਾਸਿਨਸਭਹੀਨਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਗਰ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
After planning, as such, in the morning, they invited all the people from the town.
ਦੇਸਦੇਸਬਹੁਦੂਤਪਠਾਏ॥
ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੂਤ ਭੇਜੇ
ਨਰਪਤਿਸਭਠੌਰਨਤੇਆਏ॥੨੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਆ ਗਏ ॥੨੬॥
They sent messengers to far off places and invited the princes.(26)

(In the meanwhile) Boobna kept on her visits to the garden.
ਭੇਟਤਸਾਹਜਲਾਲਕੋਰੈਨਿਬਸੈਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਨਿ॥੨੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਲਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਪਰਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੨੭॥
And after meeting Jallaal Shah, she would come back at night.(27)

ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨਬਿਸਰਿਸਕਲਸੁਧਿਗਈ॥
ਕਿ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਸੁੱਧ ਬੁੱਧ ਭੁਲ ਗਈ।
Such a love affair flourished in them that they both lost their awareness.
ਕਮਲਨਾਭਕੀਛਬਿਪਹਿਚਨਿਯਤ॥
ਉਹ ਕਮਲ-ਨਾਭ (ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ) ਵਾਂਗ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਲਗਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਟੂਕਦੁਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਤਾਰਇਕਜਨਿਯਤ॥੨੮॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਦੋ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਤਾਰ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਸਮਝੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੨੮॥
They became epitome of godly images and, although two in body, they seemed to be one in spirit.(28)

When the day broke, Boobna’s father called in all the princes,
ਆਗ੍ਯਾਦੁਹਿਤਾਕੋਦਈਰੁਚੈਬਰੋਤਿਹਜਾਇ॥੨੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਪਸੰਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵਰ ਚੁਣ ਲਵੋ ॥੨੯॥
And asked his daughter to select the person of her own choice for her marriage.(29)

(ਫਿਰ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਲਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਥੇ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
On the other hand she had called in Jallaal Shah as well,
ਜਬਹੌਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਤਵੂਪਰਕਰਿਹੌ॥
ਕਿ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਲ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ
(And told him) ‘When I will come across you,
ਫੂਲਨਕੀਮਾਲਾਉਰਡਰਿਹੌ॥੩੦॥
ਤਾਂ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਦਿਆਂਗੀ ॥੩੦॥
I will place the garland of flowers around your neck.’(30)
ਚੜਿਬਿਵਾਨਦੇਖਨਨ੍ਰਿਪਗਈ॥
ਉਹ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ('ਬਿਵਾਨ') ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਗਈ
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਕਰਤਸਭਹਿਨਪਰਭਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਮਾਰੀ।
Seated in a palanquin, she went round and looked at each one observantly.
ਜਬਤਿਹਸਾਹਜਲਾਲਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਲਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਫੂਲਹਾਰਤਾਕੇਉਰਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥੩੧॥
ਤਾਂ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੩੧॥
When she reached near Jallaal Shah, she put a garland around his neck.(31)
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਤਬਬਾਜਨਬਾਜੇ॥
ਤਦ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਣ ਲਗੇ।
Then the trumpets started to blow in favour
ਜਨਿਯਤਸਾਹਿਜਲੂਕੇਗਾਜੇ॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਮਾਨੋ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਲੂ ਦੀ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
ofJallaal Shah and the other princes were perplexed.
ਸਭਨ੍ਰਿਪਬਕ੍ਰਫੂਕਹ੍ਵੈਗਏ॥
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਫਿਕੇ ਪੈ ਗਏ,
ਜਾਨਕਲੂਟਿਬਿਧਾਤਹਿਲਏ॥੩੨॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਨੇ ਲੁਟ ਲਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੩੨॥
They looked like as if the Creator had robbed them off their right.(32)

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਫਿਕੇ ਪੈ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
All the princes, at the end, left for their abodes,
ਜਲੂਬੂਬਨਾਕੋਤਬੈਅਧਿਕਬਢਤਭਯੋਨੇਹ॥੩੩॥
ਤਦ ਬੂਬਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਲੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੋਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਵੱਧ ਗਿਆ ॥੩੩॥
And the love of Boobna and Jallaal was much more enhanced.(33)
